Cloud point is the temperature in which wax crystals are observed. It is measured according to ASTM D 2500—Cloud Point of Petroleum Products. A clean clear sample is cooled at a specified rate and examined at 1 °C (2 °F) intervals. The temperature at which a haze is first observed is the cloud point.

How to determine cloud point?
How to measure the cloud point? Most often, the cloud point of a sample is determined visually, by placing the sample in a closed transparent container and subjecting it to a controlled temperature ramp. However, there are devices specifically dedicated to this measurement, used in particular in the oil field.
What is the equation for the cloud point?
By either using a constant cooling rate or standardizing the cloud point to a constant cooling rate, blended cloud points can be accurately predicted from the equation T c = ∑ j=1 i e αT j e βν j ν j T j ∑ j=1 i e αT j e βν j ν j where Tj are the component cloud point (K), vj are the component volume fractions, and Tc ...
What is the standard method for cloud point test?
For cloud point (ASTM D2500): the specimen is cooled at a specified rate and examined periodically. The temperature at which a cloud is first observed at the bottom of the test jar is recorded as the cloud point.
What is the cloud point of solubility?
Cloud point is defined as the temperature above which a surfactant rich phase separates from an aqueous solution. This separation occurs when a nonionic surfactant, for instance, becomes insoluble due to increased heat, resulting in a cloudy or hazy dispersion in the solution.
