I am a bit saddened to pay so much for the new edition of this book and there are so many grammatical and spelling errors. I’m in graduate school and was an undergraduate English major, so I keep getting pulled out of the readings due to the errors. Perhaps I am overreacting, but again, this is an expensive textbook, so it being adequately edited would be beneficial given the message of the content. I am still getting so much out of this book, and I am learning a great deal, but it’s been difficult for me due to the distractions the errors cause.Note for the editors/writers: These are a few of many errors than keep distracting me and I am only on page 175/383. For the next edition, please, please run it through editors so weird English majors such as myself can stop getting pulled out of the readings. I bet there are some kind people that would even do it pro bono! I certainly would be happy to! The “gourp” is on page 32, and the “clutural” is on page 33 if that helps. Thank you!Edit: Now on page 198. “Popple of color.” Come on now!

I am the author of "Assessing and Treating Culturally Diverse Clients A Practical Guide" (Sage Publications) and each time I learned that Professor Derald Wing Sue has released the last edition of his classic textbook I feel I better get it to assure I am not missing updated cultural discussions with emphasis on the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of culturally diverse clients. I just bought the last edition (9th) of "Counseling the Culturally Diverse: Theory and Practice," and I am very happy with the way Professor Sue enhanced topics discussed in prior editions of the book.

Got for a class and is as described in the product description.

This text doesn't mince words, is well-presented, and easy to read. It was a relief to read it because it's so aware of, and honest about, the issues facing underrepresented groups. I learned a great deal. Our class took the reading seriously and read every chapter in-depth.

Informative and well-written. Note to authors/editors if anybody ever reads these reviews lol: all the italicizing is incredibly annoying. E.g., absolutely no need to italicize disability/disabilities 20 times on one page. (Then you actually don’t italicize same words sometimes?!) Oy! Italics are distracting and slow the reader down. Just a pet peeve of this book. And the chapter numeration needs fixing.

I ordered this book used, and I expected it to be pretty beat up. However, it came in and looked brand new. It’s such a relief that the book is in such great condition!
