Awesome book for cooking healthy and delicious even if not just to cook with diabetes in mind. I can't wait to try the wraps and the breakfast muffunsa... so delicious looking and sounding

- Inconsistent unit of measurements - some recipes call for 0.06cup (how do you measure this?) while some recipes call for 1/4 cups.

Hope this can be fixed.

This cookbook is a complete guide to living with diabetes. The introduction provides such a detailed explanation about diabetes and the types of diabetes with all the different nutrients and foods you can or can't eat with clear diagrams. There are meal plans with shopping lists and descriptions of every recipe with photos. The meals actually look really good and would be suitable for non-diabetics too for healthier food choices. I also like the no-bake options which are quick and easy to prepare. The whole cookbook is very well-organised and nicely presented.

Well-written and organized, this is more than a cookbook. Essentially, this book is a guide to living with diabetes: What it is, what the disease does to the body, and how to control it with food. The recipes are great, some I haven't heard of, and some are old favorites. A great resource not just for diabetics, but for anyone wanting to rid their diets of carbs, sugar, or processed foods.

There are parts of this book that are well-thought out, but unfortunately there are gaps in the information provided. The author indicates that each recipe is for one serving--which is great for me--but the ingredients are clearly for more than one serving with no clear instructions for portion sizes. Several recipes are to be made ahead, but no number of servings is indicated. Snack balls sound good, but how many should be consumed at one sitting? I will continue to muddle through with the book; like I said at the beginning of this review some parts of this book, like the menu plans and shopping lists, are fine. But I'm reluctant to call this a book for beginners because there is no way to contact the author for clarification and beginners will be baffled.

The meal plan is a joke with majority of the day's totals being less than 1000 calories. That's barely enough to sustain a growing toddler let alone a full grown adult, whether or not said adult needs to lose weight. It isn't sustainable or practical and without medical supervision could result in more harm than good in the long run. Please consult your medical team before starting this "diet".
