I was renting a G3100. I configured the refurbished G3100 to the configuration of the rented G3100 it was replacing.
The G3100 was packed in bubble wrap with foam peanuts filling the box. The box included the G3100, a power supply, and a 6-foot ethernet cable. The instructions were 1 page and sparse. The instructions were correct as far as they went. Because I have setup routers of various types, I did not need the instructions. If someone is not familiar with setting up the FIOS G3100, they may need to go to the setup instructions online.
Setup went well. Unplugged the rented G3100 and then unplugged the cables. Especially noted the WAN cable. I have FIOS cable TV. Detached the coax cable.
Cabled the refurbished router same as the old router. After power-on I waited for the firmware to update. Using a PC that was ethernet connected to the refurb router, I logged into 192.168.1.1. Entered the label's admin password. I changed the admin password and the Wi-Fi SSID and password to that used by my LAN. Waited for the router to connect to the internet, then connected the coax cable and then rebooted my two set-top-boxes. The set-top-boxes took a few minutes to connect.
Everything worked as before.
Called Verizon to tell them I no longer would be renting a router. They provided a confirmation number and adjusted the monthly payment. I took the rented router and the confirmation email to a stand-alone UPS store. Do not go to a Verizon store! You can go to a FIOS store but these are few. UPS is more convenient. You will need to go to a stand-alone UPS store. Other stores include a UPS shipment / receiver center. These stores will not take the router.

Better than its predecessor G1100
I used to have a G1100 for my Fios, and while it worked fine for the most part, I had had to run a wifi extender to reach one of my Ring cameras outside. I decided to give the G3100 a try. It took me less than 10 minutes to set it up, and I didn’t even need to contact Verizon during the setup. Now I’m finally able to reach all corners of my house without needing an extender!
