The Ga State is set to embark on a massive clean-up exercise aimed at cleaning the capital city, Accra, in collaboration with the government (Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources, Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development), the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council, and Zoomlion Ghana Limited.
The initiative, dubbed the Homowo Clean Up Exercise, is part of the activities put in place to mark this year’s annual Homowo festival of the Ga people.
His Royal Majesty, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, Ga Manste, has thrown his mighty weight behind the initiative, urging all chiefs and people of Ga State to participate fully in the clean-up exercises. He also called on the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to support the traditional council in carrying out the project.
“Let’s get to work and get Accra clean and working again,” he emphasized.
Ga Manste made the call when the Greater Accra Regional Minster and the Minister of Sanitation paid a courtesy call on him at the Ga Manste palace on Friday, May 31 2024.
The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Nii Titus Glover, assured the Ga Manste of the support from the Regional Coordinating Council to ensure the initiative’s success. He also promised that public education and general sanitation concerns would be intensified during this period.
Madam Lydia Seyram Alhassan, Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, commended the traditional authority for taking the lead in the initiative and added that their influence would yield positive results.
The objectives of the Homowo Clean-Up Exercise include:
Zoomlion Ghana Limited, the African waste management expert, will provide logistical support for the exercise throughout the programme.
The traditional authority’s participation in the clean-up exercise can command community respect and influence, highlight cultural significance, resolve minor conflicts, and promote cooperation.
The initiative will also include sustainability sensitization, public education, sanitation awards schemes, and monthly clean-up days.
The project’s expected impact includes reducing pollution and health risks, promoting tourism, reducing public health care costs, and mitigating environmental damage.
It is also expected to increase community pride and sense of ownership, raise awareness and public education and improve visual appeal.
Dambai (O/R) Jan 12, GNA – Traditional leaders of the feuding factions in the Nkwanta South disturbances have succumbed to peace measures geared towards the stability of the area.
Traditional leaders of Adele, Challah and Akyode smoked the peace pipe and pledged to maintain the peace at the Oti Regional Coordinating Council (ORCC) under the auspices of the Regional Security Council (REGSEC).
The three ethnic groups crossed each other’s path stemming from a celebration of a festival, which aggravated into killings of at least 17 people.
Socio-economic development at Nkwanta, which is the Traditional Capital of the Municipality, has retarded due to the protracted conflict, which ensued between three Gates some three months ago.
The traditional authorities further agreed to prevail on their subjects to desist from any hostilities and violence.
The chiefs again assured their willingness to submit to duly constituted bodies assigned to engage, mediate and bring peace to the Municipality.
Mr Joshua Gmayeenam Makubu, the Oti Regional Minister, was confident that his engagement with the chiefs would yield positive results.
He told the GNA that the traditional leaders had accepted to engage to make the peace process permanent.
He commended the peace brokers for the initiative, which he said would help stimulate socio-economic development and help provide the peaceful environment required for investment to strive.
Nana Obonbo Sewura -Lupuwura II, Paramount Chief of Akyode urged the combatants to seek redress in court instead of killing each other and destruction of properties.
He pledged to engage the youth of Akyode for peace to reign. Nana Amanfo Monfankye of the Adele traditional area reaffirmed his decision to bring the Adele youth under one umbrella.
Similarly, Nana Kenewu Addo Cheddre told GNA that the protracted dispute has negatively affected development in the area.
” We could not go forward. There was no development because of lack of togetherness, nobody was ready to listen to the others, so we were backward.”
Media personality, Nana Yaa Brefo, has reiterated that she stands by her comment urging the youth to be prudent in their decision-making this year, especially on who to follow.
According to her, the youth in the country are grappling with hardship including mass unemployment and meagre salaries which have exacerbated their woes and deepened their plights.
She stated that the insults some Ghanaians are raining on her do not affect her much because she has become used to it as a journalist, however, the welfare of the youth is her priority hence, her admonishment.
Nana Yaa Brefo reiterated her advice to the youth to think twice before deciding on whom to follow in 2024.
“Some people are twisting what I said while others are reporting it correctly. Those who don’t understand are insulting us but we will keep talking. Why? Because as a journalist I have the responsibility to inform, educate and entertain. So I would tell you what I know and that does not mean you should take it. With the insults we are used to so it does not bother me, I will continue to speak.
“There are some issues we can’t explain further because it could cause chaos. We all know the youth are suffering, there is hardship and unemployment too. Whatever that happens the youth will go but my concern is that think twice no matter who that person is. It is easy for them to speak but putting it into action is another issue. So think twice before deciding on whom to follow,” she said while speaking in an Instagram live session monitored by GhanaWeb.
Nana Yaa Brefo was criticized vehemently when she made a comment that seemed to warn the youth after Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar officially disclosed himself as the leader of The New Force political movement.
In responding to the criticisms, Nana Yaa Brefo maintains that the youth should make better decisions for the sake of their well-being.
A young woman, whose leg was allegedly crushed by an armoured police vehicle at the victory parade of the South African rugby team in the city of East London, has died at the hospital, local media report.
Minentle Noqhamka, 21, had her leg amputated after the vehicle hit her as the team was escorted away from the East London city hall on 5 November amid pushing and shoving by crowds of people, the News24 website reports.
At the time, police were quoted as saying that a case of reckless and negligent driving had been opened against the driver of the vehicle.
Noqhamka’s father Sithembiso confirmed her death, South Africa’s TimesLive newspaper reports.
“She was knocked by a police Nyala [armoured vehicle] on her legs. Her left leg was amputated at the hospital,” he is quoted as saying.
“It’s very sad for us as a family. We are still trying to come to terms with this.”
South Africa won the Rugby World Cup on 28 October after beating New Zealand in Paris and becoming the first nation to win the tournament four times.
According to BBC News, Chelsea have agreed to pay £25 million plus add-ons for Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.
Following the transfer of Edouard Mendy to Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia, the Blues have been trying to add a goalkeeper to their team.
Sanchez, 25, will compete for the number one place with Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Chelsea’s coaching team will be familiar with the Spaniard since goalkeeping coach Ben Roberts worked with him at Brighton.
Sanchez has been with the Seagulls since he was 15, after joining the club’s academy from Levante in 2013.
Following loan stints with Forest Green and Rochdale, he made his Brighton debut in November 2020 and went on to become the Seagulls’ first-choice goalkeeper for the next two years.
He was also called up by Spain in 2021 and was a member of their squads for both the postponed Euro 2020 tournament and the 2022 World Cup, despite the fact that his only two caps came in friendlies.
Sanchez was replaced by Jason Steele in the second part of Brighton’s 2022-23 Premier League season, however he did play in the FA Cup semi-final defeat to Manchester United on penalties at Wembley.
Sanchez’s contract at Brighton, where he has made 90 appearances, was scheduled to expire in June 2025.

A baby born under the rubble of a collapsed building in Syria, and the only member of her immediate family to survive a massive earthquake, has been adopted by her aunt and uncle.
Thousands of people had offered to adopt the newborn, who was still connected to her mother by her umbilical cord when she was rescued.
She was discharged from hospital after a DNA test confirmed her aunt was a blood relative.
Doctors said she was in good health.
“She is one of my children now,” her uncle by marriage Khalil al-Sawadi told the Associated Press news agency.” I will not differentiate between her and my children.”
The baby has now been named after her late mother Afraa. Shortly after she was rescued, officials had named her Aya, which means miracle in Arabic.
“She is one of my children now,” Afraa’s uncle Khalil Al-Sawadi said
A video of her rescue shortly after the tremor went viral on social media.
Dramatic footage showed a man sprinting away from the debris as he carried her covered in dust in his arms. She had reportedly been under the collapsed building for more than 10 hours and doctors said she had arrived to hospital in a bad condition, with bruises and cuts all over her body.
Afraa’s (right) aunt and uncle also welcomed a baby girl (left) of their own three days after the quake.
The building in which her family lived was one of about 50 reportedly destroyed by a 7.8-magnitude earthquake in Jindayris, an opposition-held town in Idlib province that is close to the Turkish border.
Her mother went into labour soon after the disaster and gave birth before she died, a relative said. Her father, four siblings and an aunt were also killed.
“This girl means so much to us because there’s no-one left of her family besides this baby,” Mr Sawadi told Reuters news agency. “She’ll be a memory for me, for her aunt and for all of our relatives in the village of her mother and father.”
Mr Sawadi, who was present when she was rescued, told the Associated Press he had been worried someone might kidnap Afraa during her two weeks in hospital as offers to adopt her flooded in.
Baby Afraa had been saved by rescuers earlier in February from beneath the rubble of a building in north-west Syria
Her family who took her in said that the best place for Afraa was with family, however difficult their situation.
Mr Sawadi and his wife Hala’s home was also destroyed in the earthquake and they are staying with cousins.
They both welcomed a baby girl born to Hala three days after the earthquake.

Stakeholders at a policy dialogue on the formulation of guidelines for public land allocation have called for an unalloyed political will and rigorous and reliable leadership at all levels to achieve the proper land management in the country.
They argue that the process of acquiring land and land titles remains static, incapable of meeting the evolving demands and dynamism of modernity.
The stakeholders, who included Lands Commission officials, academic land management experts, civil society representatives, traditional leaders, and community leaders, noted that the processes had not been kept up to date with the country’s changing social-economic and environmental circumstances.
The programme was organized by the Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII), the Local Chapter of Transparency International, and is part of the GII’s ongoing Land and Corruption in Africa (LCA) project, which aims to improve livelihoods.
Local Government Practitioner Esther Osei Ofei Aboagye, said both state institutions and stakeholders, including traditional authorities and land users, must increase their capacity to adapt to and understand new dynamics.
She cited information and communication as key tools in combating corruption in public land allocation in the country.
“Adequate, timely, targeted information right down to the last person is needed,” she indicated and added, “Sometimes, information may get to a certain level and not penetrate to go down.”
“The use of various mechanisms, not only technology, but other mechanisms that will lean themselves, including partners, to get the information down,” Madam Ofei Aboagye stressed.
Dr. Stanislaus Yaw Adiaba, a consultant and lecturer at the University for Professional Studies Accra (UPSA), said an initial inventory of public lands is needed for managers and the public to be aware of the quality and quantity of public lands available at any given time.
Dr. Stanislaus Yaw Adiaba, a consultant and lecturer at the University for Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), stated that an initial inventory of public lands is required for managers and the public to have a sufficient knowledge of the quality and quantity of public lands available at any given time.
“I hear people say all Roman Ridge and Cantonment’s lands are gone. Let us have the facts,” he demanded.
He also advocated the creation of a corporate land policy to provide comprehensive guidelines and directions for public land management, such as addressing loopholes in the land allocation process.
“While this is ongoing, there should be a legislative instrument to complement the public land policy guidelines,” Dr. Adiaba added.
He suggested that the guidelines should provide a comprehensive requirement for an equitable, transparent and accountable system for public land allocation.
On the issue of transparency, the land economist suggested that a high-level multi-stakeholder body, including CSOs and anti-corruption agencies (both state and private), be included in formulating public land policy guidelines.
He explained that this was because the draft policy guidelines developed by the Lands Commission cannot meet the test of time.
“Public land policy guidelines should have clear statements on policy goals and objectives and a statement that public lands are held in trust for the people of Ghana,” he intimated.
Technical Director for Lands at the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, Maxwell Adu-Nsafoa, said the perception of misappropriation of state lands is one that Ghanaians are all too familiar with.
“In 2022, for instance, the nation was shocked to learn that state lands in Ho were rumoured to have been sold for a mere GH¢41.00 by the Lands Commission.
“It is imperative to note that there are clear laws and guidelines in place for the management of state lands, especially with the coming into effect of the Land Act 2020 (Act 1036),” he asserted.
Mr. Adu-Nsafoa stated that by strictly adhering to these laws and guidelines, many of these situations can be avoided.
“However, we must also acknowledge that the Lands Commission, like any human institution, is not immune to bad actors,” he argued.
Other participants advised the nation to look for what is best for the public interest and what can be done to motivate Ghanaians to go beyond individual parochial interests that cause conflict and misunderstanding to what might take the country ahead in accordance with sustainable development.
A report by the Ghana Statistical Services (GSS) has revealed more females are getting jobs than their male colleagues.
According to the GSS’Annual Household Income and Expenditure Survey (AHIES) for the year 2023, out of the 11.39 million Ghanaians employed by the third quarter of 2023, 6.44 million were females as against 5.52 million males.
This notwithstanding, unemployment rate for females increased from 17.5% in the 2nd quarter of 2023 to 17.7% in the 3rd quarter. This is higher than the unemployment rate for males which remained stable at 10.9% between the 2nd quarter of 2023 and the 3rd quarter of 2023.
The report said consistently, more females than males have been employed, with the difference averaging about 600,000 and 900,000 for 2022 and 2023 respectively.
The survey indicated that the average unemployment rate for the first three quarters of 2023 was 14.7 per cent.
“The sharp increase in the unemployment rate of females between the fourth quarter of 2022 and the first quarter of 2023 has culminated in a wider unemployment gender gap in 2023 relative to 2022,” the report noted.
“Females had a much lower share of jobs as plant and machine operators or assemblers (averaging 0.3% across the first three quarters of 2023) than males (averaging 11.0% for the same period), the study highlighted,” the study highlighted.
It was also disclosed that there were more females engaged in vulnerable employment, a rate which has been consistently higher for females than males by about 20 percentage points across all seven quarters.
The Electoral Commission (EC) has hinted at processes being made to create more polling stations ahead of the 2024 elections.
The EC, according to its intentions, wants to reduce the number of voters per polling station to 500.
Speaking at an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) forum in Accra, the chairperson of the EC, Jean Mensa, says the creation of more polling stations will reduce congestion at voting centers.
The Electoral Commission (EC) also hinted at shifting the closing time of voting from 5:00 pm to 3:00 pm during the upcoming 2024 general elections.
“In 2020, 70 percent of our polling centres had a voter threshold of 500 and below. This time we intend to ensure that all our polling station centers have a threshold of 500 voters and below. In the same vein, we will increase the number of our polling stations nationwide.
“We believe that this will go a long way to reduce the long queues that characterize our elections and allow for a smooth, seamless, hassle-free voting process. In 2020, it took voters not more than five minutes to cast their votes due to the introduction of this policy. Based on our 2020 experience and also feedback from several observer groups, we propose to close the polls at 3:00 pm.”
The EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa, emphasized that this adjustment aims to facilitate the transparent and orderly collation of votes by electoral officers in broad daylight.
Mrs. Mensa highlighted that the proposal is grounded in the lessons learned from the 2020 elections, where approximately 70 percent of voting centres witnessed minimal activity by 1:00 pm.
“If you compare the turnout in 2016 to 2020, in spite of the hassle-free process in 2016 and the lack of long queues and lines and so on, we had a voter turnout of 79 percent plus, compared to 67 percent in 2020,” Mrs. Mensa added.
FROM TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR STADIUM – Arsenal moved four points clear at the top of the Premier League with a nervy 3-2 win at north London rivals Tottenham.
The Gunners raced into a three-goal lead before the break having weathered an early Spurs storm, but Ange Postecoglou’s men rallied in the second half and came bitterly close to claiming an unlikely point.
Second-place Manchester City play later on Sunday and can reduce the gap on Arsenal back to one point with victory at Nottingham Forest, but it’s job done for Mikel Arteta’s side for now, clearing the hardest of their final hurdles to end the season.
How the game unfolded
Arsenal had the ball in the net after 13 minutes through Kai Havertz, but the flag went up for offside against Martin Odegaard in the build up.
But a couple of minutes later, the visitors took the lead from a corner. Bukayo Saka’s delivery towards the near post was headed into his own net by Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Soon after falling behind, Tottenham hit the post through Cristian Romero, whose header from a few yards out following a James Maddison corner could only find the upright.
On 22 minutes, Spurs thought they were level. Arsenal’s clearance from a corner fell to Pedro Porro, who fired into a crowded box and the ball fell kindly for Micky van de Ven to sweep in beyond David Raya. However, after a lengthy VAR review, the goal was ruled out for the most marginal of offsides against the Dutchman.
Instead, Arsenal then went two up. Spurs were denied two penalty appeals at one end before the Gunners went down the other and scored, with Havertz picking out Saka with a wonderful ball over the top, and the winger cut inside Ben Davies before slotting home.
Before the break, Arsenal made it three, with Havertz getting in on the act, heading home from a Declan Rice corner.
Tottenham tried to pull one back at the end of the first half when Porro threaded a ball beyond William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes to Son Heung-min, but the South Korean skied his effort much to the frustration of the home support.
In the second half, the hosts sought to get a foothold again and went close through Romero, who beat Raya to a Dejan Kulusevski cross but couldn’t keep his attempt down.
Spurs wanted a penalty when Kulusevski fell under a challenge from Gabriel before Arsenal went straight down the other end and went close to a fourth, with Guglielmo Vicario’s toe denying Saka.
Tottenham pulled one back in comical fashion just after the hour mark. Raya’s poor kick from the back was snuffed out by Romero, who this time found the back of the net with a bobbling half-volley.
Spurs were again denied a penalty when Davies received a kick to the groin from Rice but were handed one after a VAR review. Son stepped up and found the top corner to set up a grandstand finish.
The hosts threw every man forward for six minutes of added time but just couldn’t find an equaliser and Arsenal held on for a precious three points.
Tottenham player ratings (4-2-3-1)
Romero got Spurs up and running / Chloe Knott – Danehouse/GettyImages
GK: Guglielmo Vicario – 5/10 – Nullified on corners due to the man-marking of White. Made a great save in the second half to deny Saka but the game was already slipping away at that point.
RB: Pedro Porro – 5/10 – Wasn’t rinsed in his own third but didn’t provide enough when Tottenham did have the ball. Sometimes ignored by his teammates when in acres of space, mind.
CB: Cristian Romero – 7/10 – Somehow the recipient of Tottenham’s best chances, ironically scoring with the only one not planted on his head.
CB: Micky van de Ven – 6/10 – Thought he brought Spurs level with a goal chalked off for a slight offside. Tasked with doing too much when defending in transition.
LB: Ben Davies – 4/10 – Allowed Saka to cut onto his stronger left foot leading to the second goal. Just doesn’t have the same dynamism of Destiny Udogie. Put his body on the line to win a penalty off Rice.
CM: Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 4/10 – Should have done more to position himself correctly and head away the corner for the opening own goal. At least fought like a madman in midfield and didn’t shy away.
CM: Rodrigo Bentancur – 5/10 – Wasn’t afraid to get stuck in but was sometimes too slow progressing the ball when space opened up behind Arsenal. Hooked at the break.
RW: Dejan Kulusevski – 7/10 – Committed to the cause even when things weren’t going Spurs’ way. Needed more support from his teammates in attack.
AM: James Maddison – 5/10 – Stayed higher up the pitch rather than dropping deep in frustration, which Tottenham needed but he couldn’t pick that stubborn Arsenal lock.
LW: Timo Werner – 5/10 – Withdrawn with injury in the first half. Did little to trouble Arsenal to that point.
CF: Son Heung-min – 7/10 – Should have made more of a close-range opportunity on the stroke of half-time. Looked more comfortable back on the wing after Richarlison’s introduction. Nerves of steel from the penalty spot.
Substitutes
SUB: Brennan Johnson (31′ for Werner) – 6/10 – Gave Tomiyasu problems when switched to the right in the second half but his delivery wasn’t always accurate.
SUB: Pape Matar Sarr (46′ for Bentancur) – 5/10 – Tried to be too clever in possession at points, stumbling and coming close to playing into trouble.
SUB: Richarlison (63′ for Maddison) – 6/10
SUB: Yves Bissouma (63′ for Hojbjerg) – 6/10
SUB: Giovani Lo Celso (88′ for Davies) – N/A
Manager
Ange Postecoglou – 5/10 – Tottenham gave themselves too much to do and that’s in part due to the naivety of their manager.
Arsenal player ratings (4-3-3)
Havertz had the last laugh / Chloe Knott – Danehouse/GettyImages
GK: David Raya – 4/10 – Didn’t actually have a lot to do in way of shot-stopping until gifting a goal to Romero out of nothing.
RB: Ben White – 7/10 – Never seem flustered in his duels with Werner, Son or Johnson. Helped Arsenal score from corners by essentially attaching himself to goalkeeper Vicario.
CB: William Saliba – 8/10 – Likewise always calm in the heat of the battle. Made a number of important blocks and interventions.
CB: Gabriel Magalhaes – 7/10 – Beaten by Romero for a few headers but ironically not the goal he converted. Swept up well and made sure to give it to Spurs players when they fell under his tackles.
LB: Takehiro Tomiyasu – 6/10 – Bodied Kulusevski with a few cynical fouls but found it much harder to keep the electric Johnson under wraps.
CM: Declan Rice – 5/10 – Was among Arsenal’s standout performers until he gave away a daft penalty for hoofing Davies in the privates.
CM: Thomas Partey – 6/10 – Pressed into some early errors by Tottenham but kicked this bad habit as the game progressed.
CM: Martin Odegaard – 6/10 – Made some strange and uncharacteristic errors in build up that threatened to cost his side, but ultimately his never did.
RW: Bukayo Saka – 8/10 – Made light work of Davies and is making a habit of scoring in north London derbies when Arsenal need him.
CF: Kai Havertz – 9/10 – A little more false nine than straight-up nine today, but played that role to perfection. Found Saka with a lovely assist before getting a goal for himself.
LW: Leandro Trossard – 6/10 – Caught trying to dribble out from the back on occasion. Didn’t have the same sights of goal as he has in recent games.
Substitutes
SUB: Gabriel Martinelli (63′ for Trossard) – 6/10 – Tried to take on Van de Ven for pace and predictably lost. Relentless work rate came in handy down the stretch.
SUB: Jakub Kiwior (89′ for Odegaard) – N/A
Subs not used: Aaron Ramsdale (GK), Oleksandr Zinchenko, Jorginho, Fabio Vieira, Emile Smith Rowe, Gabriel Jesus, Eddie Nketiah
Manager
Mikel Arteta – 7/10 – Arsenal’s three-goal lead was down to his tactics and management. Still clearly needs to work on his team not shooting themselves in the foot.
Nana Akomea, the Chief Executive Officer of the InterCity State Transport Corporation (STC), has called for the establishment of a Committee of Inquiry to thoroughly investigate the ongoing controversy between the Electoral Commission (EC) and IMANI Africa regarding the disposal of election-related equipment.
IMANI Africa, a prominent policy think tank, recently petitioned the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to probe the EC’s disposal and auctioning of what it deemed obsolete equipment.
Franklin Cudjoe, the Executive Director of IMANI, on May 6, accused the EC of misappropriation, wastage, and misuse of state resources.
He further accused the EC of lack of compliance with data handling and protection standards.
“We do not believe that the EC and its commercial counterparties in these transactions complied with the highest standards of data handling and protection required in the transfer and/or disposal of such sensitive equipment. At any rate, none of them had the requisite certifications to be trusted with such a task,” he said.
The institution’s statement further suggested that “the EC’s most recent conduct has been necessitated by a need to curtail transparency and accountability, and thus was motivated by a collective conflict of interest and potential corruption. By its actions, it is attempting to erase inventory records and physical evidence of the blatant falsehoods it has told over the last four years regarding the purchase history of expensive electoral equipment.
“We asserted our longstanding claim that the EC’s electoral equipment is a portfolio of multiple items, bought and refurbished at different intervals between 2011 and 2019. That portfolio does not uniformly date to 2011 or 2012 as the EC has falsely and persistently claimed, and could thus not be so uniformly obsolete as to warrant a firesale to mysterious bidders, who have kept the prime portions for themselves and discarded the rest to be used as scrap. Ghana cannot continue to be milked in this fashion.”
Reacting to this escalating controversy, Nana Akomea proposed the formation of a Committee of Inquiry comprising representatives from both the EC and IMANI.
He said, “The Committee should televise the proceedings so that at the end of the day, the important thing is that probity and accountability is served for Ghanaians to know which party is telling the truth or otherwise.”
Lydia Seyram Alhassan, incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayawaso West Wuogon and Deputy Majority Whip, has filed her nomination to run for re-election in the New Patriotic Party primary.
If re-elected as the party’s parliamentary candidate, she was optimistic about keeping the seat.
Samuel Owusu Amankwah, a former youth organiser for the party in the constituency, is challenging her.
The MP was accompanied by some constituency executives and delegates as they marched through the streets of Dzorwulu to file the nomination.
Speaking to journalists after filing, age said “First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to my constituents because they are all appreciative of the good work that I am doing and that I have done so far. So for that reason they think and they will never allow any other person to come in now but for me to continue what I am doing.”
“As you are aware, for the first time in the history of this constituency the issue of land is scarce so putting up a new educational facility such as SHS is very difficult but by the grace of God come March we are commissioning the first SHS in this constituency.
“We have put up a hospital, we have added more schools, as for roads it is all over. There are astroturfs and more. For this reason, the constituents thought it wise for me to continue what I am doing…I will continue being their humble servant,” she stated.
Actress Moesha Bodoung has said that most women who are side-chics to married and wealthy men are not proud of themselves.
She says these people may look happy about what they do outside but when they go into their closet, they have deep thoughts about it.
To her, people can pretend all they want but the reality of perching on someone’s partner.
“So many women are not happy being mistresses, side chics or concubines to wealthy men, so if God has touched me and is changing my story, may God change everyone’s story because, deep down, many women don’t like the lives they are living.
We pretend whatever Moesha said is not happening, but it’s happening, and we are all not happy and proud about it, but I got the courage to share my story, and through that, God listened to me and said, My daughter, I’m going to use you to change the world,” she said on TV3.
President Akufo-Addo says his government is leaving nothing to chance in its digitalisation drive.
He believes it is the best option for the government or economy to survive in the 21st century.
That, he said was part of the reason the digitalisation agenda remains one of the most important objectives of his government; because it had become the new language, new science, and new knowledge for the progress and development of the human race.
This was when the Council members of the Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU), formerly Ghana Telecom University College (GTUC) paid a courtesy call on him at the Jubilee House (presidency) in Accra a while ago.
“If we lag in these sciences and new knowledge, then we are going to lag in our development as a people and that is where we are is where we stay. We cannot afford that under any circumstances,” President Akufo-Addo indicated.
He, therefore, stressed the government’s commitment to supporting the school to help raise its profile and become the go-to institution for the new sciences and knowledge that were essential for survi in West Africa.
President Akufo-Addo commended the leadership of the school for their commitment and urged them to continue to give off their best.
He described the collaboration between the school and STEM education as an extremely important move that should be the learning curve since it it has a lot in stock for Ghana’s future.
He said it would be very great that in the next five years, the school would be the talk of the town and the hub for learning in West Africa, a feat he said would be a tremendous achievement.
Whilst he admitted that government had financial constraints, the President was however optimistic that progress would be made.
When he got the opportunity to speak, Council Chairman, Prof Kofi Awusabo-Asare, commended President Akufo-Addo for ensuring that the school was converted into a public university which he said has brought a lot of reprieve including payment of staff and lecturers among others.
He described the school as unique since it was originally set up by the British to train people in telecommunication in West Africa.
With time, he said it is being turned into an excellent centre for communication studies in West Africa.
He said the school had partnered JUSPON to have an ICT centre for incubation where students would be developing their ideas for the learning period and if they were not even able to come out with a product they will still have gained knowledge.

The duration for keeping dirty clothes in a laundry basket can vary depending on several factors such as the type of fabric, the level of soiling, and personal preference. However, it is generally recommended to wash your clothes within a week to prevent the accumulation of odors, stains, and bacteria.
Leaving dirty clothes in a laundry basket for an extended period can have several effects:
Odor: As bacteria and fungi thrive in moist environments, the longer clothes remain dirty, the more likely they are to develop unpleasant odors. This is especially true for clothes that are heavily soiled or have absorbed sweat or body oils.
Stains: Some stains can set and become more difficult to remove if left untreated for too long. For example, food stains, oil-based stains, or certain types of spills may become more stubborn over time, making them harder to remove during the washing process.
Bacterial growth: Dirty clothes can harbor bacteria, those associated with body sweat and other bodily fluids. If left unwashed for an extended period, these bacteria can multiply, potentially leading to unpleasant smells and hygiene issues.
Insect attraction: Dirty clothes can attract insects such as moths or beetles, especially if there are food or sweat residues on them. These insects may cause damage to the fabric over time.
To maintain good hygiene and prevent the issues mentioned above, it’s generally best to establish a regular laundry routine and wash your clothes regularly. If you have heavily soiled items or clothes stained with substances that require special treatment, it’s advisable to attend to them promptly to increase the chances of successful stain removal.
Leaving dirty clothes in a laundry basket for an extended period does not directly affect the human body in terms of physical health. However, there can be some indirect effects related to hygiene and comfort:
Odor: Lingering odors from unwashed clothes can create an unpleasant environment in your living space. While the odors themselves may not harm your body, they can cause discomfort, especially if they are strong or persistent.
Allergies and Skin Irritation: If you have sensitive skin or allergies, wearing dirty clothes that have accumulated dust, pollen, or other allergens can potentially trigger skin irritation or allergic reactions. Additionally, clothes that have been heavily soiled with substances like sweat or body oils can exacerbate skin issues or contribute to body odor.
Psychological Impact: Living or sleeping in an environment with a strong odor or messy appearance due to unwashed clothes can have psychological effects. It may lead to feelings of unease, stress, or decreased motivation due to the perceived uncleanliness of the surroundings.
It’s important to note that these effects are more related to personal comfort, hygiene, and psychological well-being rather than direct health risks. However, maintaining good hygiene practices, regular laundry routines, can contribute to overall cleanliness, comfort, and a positive living environment.

Dr. Frank Serebour, Ghana Medical Association president
The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has condemned the assault on staff of the Suhum Government Hospital by the family of a deceased patient.
In a statement, GMA said these acts of impunity tend to make it difficult for health workers to accept postings to some facilities and further derail its efforts to encourage doctors to accept postings to deprived areas.
GMA notedthat, procedures exist to resolve any concerns or grievances about issues that may occur in any health facility rather than resorting to violence.
The Association has therefore called on the Police administration to immediately investigate the incident and bring all perpetrators to book.
However, GMA has warned that ifthe threats and acts that threaten the lives of doctors and other health professionals and properties persist, they will have no choice than to ensure that doctors leave such facilities if their safety cannot be guaranteed.
The incident reportedly occurred in the hospital’s emergency ward on Wednesday, June 26, where several health professionals were physically assaulted, and sliding windows were damaged.
According to sources, the deceased, a 29-year-old miner, was involved in an accident near the Top Oil fuel station in Suhum in the Eastern Region while returning from Accra to Anyinam on the same day.
He was rushed to Suhum Hospital for treatment but unfortunately passed away.
Following his death, the family accused the hospital staff of negligence and failing to transfer him to the Eastern Regional Hospital for more advanced treatment.
They informed some friends of the deceased, who later stormed the hospital and physically assaulted the nurses on duty.

Though the Dollar exchange rate has seen a slight increase from averages of GHS12.4697 to GHS12.8650 (3.17%) per $1, further considering the CBOD rate of about $1=GHS14.00, the following shall form the predicted retail figures for Petroleum products from computations by the technical and pricing team, for the 1st pricing window of March under the price deregulation programme of the National Petroleum Authority, Which window commences on Wednesday, 1 March 2023. All understated Predictions are factored to be within (+/-)5%.

Diesel
With the International price decreasing from $854.00/MT to $809.38/MT (-5.22%), and the increase in the Dollar rate, the expected mean retail price for the next window shall be GHS13.98/L. Thus, Diesel prices are therefore expected to drop by 4.04% from the current Mean ue of GHS14.57/L

These expected drops in prices for the second time running since the second pricing window of February 2023 do not have any correlation with the much-touted Gold for Oil programme as these movements are simply a derivative of market forces at play within the period, we still await the reductions the two cargoes brought in this month will add to the relieving the suffering of the petroleum consumer
Advice on LPG consumption.
The current high retail prices of LPG have contributed to consumption generally dropping by 12% year on year in 2022,
It will be prudent If authorities did take a second look at the factors contributing to the high prices of a commodity which Ghana has in enormous commercial quantities to ensure price stability or decline if the government’s 50% penetration target is to be ever achieved and to continuously promote its usage with the overall environmental promotion in mind.
Technical Director of Asante Kotoko, Kwesi Appiah, has condemned fans of the club who vandalised the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex on Sunday.
The fans of the Porcupine Warriors ripped off chairs at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex at Abrankese in the matchday six games.
The fans went bonkers and expressed their frustrations after the referee awarded Nations FC a late penalty.
However, Appiah has implored fans to accept the outcome of games since referees can make mistakes.
“I watched the game on Sunday and I will plead with the entire fans in the country that at any given time, referees are part of the game and they can make mistakes,” the newly appointed Sudan head coach said in an interview on Asempa FM.
“Football is a game and once there is confusion, the unexpected can happen and we can lose a friend. We must understand that football is about a win, a draw or a loss. Let us stay and know that football unites all of us,” he added.
Kenyan chef Maliha Mohammed, who shattered the record for the longest home kitchen cooking marathon, encountered another setback in her quest to re-enter the Guinness Book of World Records.
On November 15, Maliha endured 150 hours of cooking to surpass a record of 119 hours 57 minutes, and 16 seconds set by Ireland’s Alan Fisher on November 7.
Maliha successfully reached the 150-hour mark, surpassing her own record of 90 hours and 15 minutes set in 2019. However, despite celebrating the win, Maliha’s ratification by GWR was never confirmed.
Over the weekend, the Coast-based chef shared the heartbreaking news of her disqualification due to disregarding certain guidelines.
She expressed gratitude and apologized to her fans who accompanied her on the journey, mentioning that she was sharing the update based on her manager’s advice.
“Hey guys, Assalamun aleykumIt is with much sadness to inform my family, friends, fans, sponsors, followers, and everyone who showed love and support ❤️ towards my journey in the November cooking marathon.
“Upon my manager’s advice, I have to let you know I was disqualified for 1 error made during my rest break. I am not okay right now. I ask for your forgiveness to have let you all down. It wasn’t easy, but I know God has other plans for me in shaa Allah because what’s meant for you will simply find you.” Maliha said on Saturday.
She maintained her optimism about her culinary marathons and her endeavor to set a completely new standard for the longest uninterrupted cooking session within a home kitchen.
“But I know God has other plans for me in shaa Allah because what’s meant for you will simply find you. To those who were waiting for this record, 😭😭😭 I am truly sorry.”
Error Leading to Disqualification
GWR clarified that the disqualification was a result of additional minutes taken by Maliha, which were not accumulated.
“Unfortunately it’s not permitted to make up rest break as it must only be accumulated. In the interest of fairness across all applicants, we can only approve a record when all the guidelines have been adhered to,” GWR said in an email sent to the chef.
In 2019, Chef Maliha secured her spot in the Guinness Book of World Records by cooking non-stop for 75 hours. Her initial attempt to break the world record in May 2019 fell short as she only managed to cook for 36 hours non-stop.
Then, in August 2023, Maliha surpassed the previous record held by Rickey Lumpkin II from Los Angeles, California, completing an impressive home kitchen cooking marathon lasting a remarkable 90 hours and 15 minutes.

Some 6,000 people who defected from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to Alan’s Movement for Change announced their return to their former party.
Led by former NPP parliamentary hopeful for Adentan, Alfred Ababio Kumi, the people, largely youth, stated they made a mistake by leaving the NPP.
Addressing the media in Accra, Ababio Kumi openly acknowledged their blunder and reaffirmed their support for the NPP’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
“It has become evidently clear that we made a mistake; a mistake that we humbly admit and are ready to work to ensure that its dire effect is reversed or averted,” he said.
According to him, since Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s speech on February 7, 2024, they have been asking themselves questions about the country’s future and the Ghana that young people want.
Bribe Accusation
Reacting to the news, the Nationwide Supporters of Alan Cash (NAWSAC) said this is one of the attempts by the NPP to undermine the candidature of Alan Kyerematen.
A statement signed by the group’s convener, Luther-King Junior, said, “We are aware of the clandestine operations of the New Patriotic Party to undermine the candidature of Alan Kyerematen.”
The statement added, “This time in a full display of ‘monicracy’, there have been blatant attempts to use money as a tool to pull young people from the Movement for Change.”
The NAWSAC described the people who announced their defection as stomach politicians who have cheapened themselves because of their greediness and ignorance.
“To you, the stomach political apparatus who have been so cheapened by your greed to think your poster sticking and noise making roles are substantive enough to undermine this revolution, we applaud your ignorance,” the statement stressed.
It said the NPP and NDC shall no longer take the youth for granted.
“NPP and NDC cannot buy the conscience of young people with their spoils of corruption. The youth shall win this war,” it indicated.
It added, “Let us emphasise that the true young people of this Revolution cannot be bought. We the youth are convinced in the leadership of Alan Kyerematen and will not trade our integrity and convictions on the altar of incompetence and corruption.”
The Alan group stated that the NPP and NDC duopoly will no longer be permitted to take young people for granted through “disgraceful acts of financial inducement” rather than providing solutions for job creation and opportunities for young people.
Reno Omokri, a popular and outspoken media figure, recently expressed his opinion on Moses Bliss marrying a Ghanaian woman.
He remarked that as someone who has travelled to Ghana, their women are simpler to relate to than many Nigerian women.
He also disclosed that, in Ghana and several other nations, women are free to fall in love without requesting financial support from their partner.
He went on to say that if Nigeria had visa-free or visa-unarrival access, there would be an epidemic of unmarried women in the country because many Nigerian men travel within Africa and when they meet a beautiful woman who is not money conscious, they quickly lose interest in Nigerian women.

Taking to Twitter, he wrote,
“I can understand why Moses Bliss married a Ghanaian. I have been to Ghana, and their women tend to be easier to relate with than many Southern Nigerian women. In fact, is love without billing still possible in Southern Nigeria? In our part of the world, ‘He is loving’ means ‘He is spending. When you tell many Southern Nigerian girls, ‘I love you’, they hear,
‘You owe me ’. Especially those with Industrial Money
If Nigeria had visa-free access to more countries, there would be an epidemic of unmarried women in Nigeria.
Because when Southern Nigerian men travel within Africa and outside Africa and encounter beautiful women who are not money conscious, they quickly lose their appetite for Nigerian women. Already, Nigerian men are considered a catch by South African and Kenyan women.
We urgently need a cultural reorientation amongst our women. Especially in Southern Nigeria. The monetisation of relationships in Southern Nigeria is just too suffocating. I am well-traveled, andhamsel to see the level of commercialisation of romance Kave seen in Southern Nigeria. I call it as I see it!”

The cook-a-thon duration for Failatu Abdul-Razak, a Chef, who is attempting to break the Guinness World Records (GWR) for the longest cooking hours by an individual, has been extended to seven days.
The initial duration announced prior to the event was from January 01 to January 05, which should be 120 hours of cooking to make up five days.
Information provided by Failatu’s cook-a-thon team days into the event, however, indicated the need to extend the cooking hours to over 144 hours.
According to Joy News, Failatu is now seeking to clock a total of 240 hours.
Mr Damba Naa, Manager of Failatu Abdul-Razak, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Tamale, said, “The idea is no longer five days. We are doing six to seven days.”
He stated that the team had to come up with such a decision to enable the Chef to make a mark because a Ugandan lady had already cooked for 144 hours in the quest to break the existing record.
He said; “For us to be able to break the record and set any, we have to go beyond the 144 hours.”
Chef Dorcus Mirembe, also known as Mama D, is the Ugandan lady, who attempted to break the existing cook-a-thon record officially and had successfully cooked for 144 hours.
She commenced cooking on December 23, and ended on December 28, to beat the 120-hour record of Alan Fisher, the current record holder.
Mama D’s record is yet to be confirmed by the GWR officials.

According to UMG, the deal remains subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close by the end of the third quarter of 2024.
This new deal will see Mavin still maintain autonomy over its strategy and future talent development while its full-service offering in Nigeria will be amplified through UMG’s global network of labels and businesses by the investment.
The founder and CEO Don Jazzy and COO Tega Oghenejobo will continue leading the company in their respective positions if the deal is sealed.
The partnership will offer UMG the opportunity to partner with proven local executives and experienced professionals.
According to UMG, this mission is anchored on two initiatives – Mavin’s Artist Academy, which trains new talent in music and performance skills and builds connections within the roster and their executive leadership program which seeks to develop the next generation of music industry talent in Africa.
The investment provides UMG an opportunity to increase its presence in Afrobeats and greater exposure to the fast-growing African market.
Commenting on the deal, Don Jazzy said “I’m proud of the artists, careers and brand we’ve built that have made Mavin the force it is today. In this historic partnership with UMG, we will continue that mission in Africa and across the globe.”
Chairman & CEO of Universal Music Group, Sir Lucian Grainge emphasised the importance of the partnsership and why they decided on UMG.
“Our criteria for identifying partners is straightforward: great artists, great entrepreneurs, great people. With Don Jazzy, Tega, the Mavin Global team and their artist roster, we’ve found ideal partners with whom to grow together. Mavin’s brilliant artists have been catalysts in the transformation of Afrobeats into a global phenomenon and we’re thrilled to welcome them into the Universal Music Group family.”
Last year, reports were rife that Mavin Records was looking forward to investment from some biggest music corporations with South Korea’s Hybe and UMG leading the frontline to sign Mavin Records.
The Attorney General’s department has confirmed that lawyers of Minority Leader, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson have endorsed a request by a third party to pay off the monies lost in the faulty ambulance case for the criminal trial against the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam legislator to be withdrawn.
This revelation follows a challenge thrown to the Attorney General’s department by lawyers of Dr. Ato Forson to put out any letter that suggests that their client has initiated such plans.
Dr. Ato Forson and two others are facing criminal charges of causing financial loss to the state in the faulty ambulance deal.
They have been accused of criminal acts in the purchase of 50 faulty ambulances to the tune of 2.3 million Euros.
Dr. Ato Forson who was deputy finance minister at the time of the purchase is specifically accused of issuing letters of credit for the purchase of the ambulances without any authorization.
He has however denied this vehemently.
The state has so far closed its case and the court has directed Dr. Ato Forson who is the first accused person to open his defence.
He has so far called two witnesses with plans to call four others including his former boss Seth Terkper and Former Health Minister Alex Segbefia.
But the state says it has received letters from lawyers of Dr. Ato Forson endorsing a request to pay off the money involved proposed by a third party.
In an interview with Citi News, Deputy Attorney General Alfred Tuah-Yeboah explained that his office first received two separate letters from a third party offering to pay the cost of the ambulances to see the case withdrawn.
“I think last year someone who was not a party to that prosecution offered to make a refund and take the ambulance back and in lieu of that we withdraw the case,” Tuah-Yeboah noted.
However, because the Attorney General’s department did not want to deal with persons who were not directly charged, the accused persons were asked to take a position to the offer.
“There was a second letter and we said we don’t even know those of you who have written this letter. If you want those who are being prosecuted to take advantage of your proposal, they should rather come up with that proposal,” The deputy Attorney General said in an interview with Citi News’ Hanson Agyemang.
Subsequently, lawyers of some of the accused persons according to Tuah-Yeboah wrote to the department endorsing the offer.
“The accused persons, some of them through their lawyers wrote that they actually endorse the letter written by the third party seeking to return the money.”
On the specific question, of whether the Minority Leader made such a move, the Deputy Attorney General indicated that “Mr. Forson’s lawyers also wrote a letter seeking to say they were also siding with the third party who had offered to pay that money.”
Meanwhile, the Attorney General’s department is yet to make a decision on the request.

The headline of this story has been changed from “Ato Forson has requested for plea bargain in €2.3m Ambulance case – Deputy AG confirms” to the current one.
The family of National Democratic Congress (NDC) running mate, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang is demanding an unqualified apology from Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Chairman Wontumi for insulting their daughter.
Their call comes after Chairman Wontumi claimed that ex-president John Dramani Mahama is secretly married to Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman, making her his second wife.
They deemed claims by the Chairman Wontumi that, Prof. Opoku Agyemang is a divorcee from the Northern Region as an insult and gross disrespect to the family.
The family head of Apatano Nsona Ebusua of Akatakyi in Komenda, William Batch Kwofie, addressing a press conference, challenged Chairman Wontumi to prove his claims.
He has therefore given Chairman Wontumi one-week ultimatum to retract and apologize to the first female Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast.
The family head said that should Wontumi fail to do the honourable thing, he would be dragged to court.
For his part, NDC Chairman for KEEA, John Quaicoe (Wontumi Ntaakie) condemned Chairman Wontumi’s statement and called on the NPP to publicly condemn his comments.
He urged the people of the Northern Region, especially women, to punish the NPP by voting for John Dramani Mahama and Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang in the December elections
The NDC, Mr. Quaicoe noted is the only political party that accepts and embraces all ethnic groups.
He said the party is focused and optimistic of winning the upcoming general elections hence they won’t allow anybody to distract them.
Ghanas foreign minister Shirley A. Botchwey, is participating in a leaders’ meeting of the Pacific Islands Forum in Cook Island as a special guest.
The 18-member Forum in Rarotonga, the capital of the Cook Islands, includes Australia, New Zealand and small island nations, among them Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Samoa and Tonga.
Earlier in the week, she signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on behalf of Ghana for the establishment of formal diplomatic relations, with the Cook Islands whose Prime Minister, Mark Brown, signed for his country. Ghana is the second African country after South Africa to establish formal diplomatic relations with the Cook Islands. Mr. Brown is also the chairman of the Pacific Islands Forum.
Ghana has a limited diplomatic footprint in the Pacific, but diplomats say relations with developing countries, however small or distant, are important for building and maintaining alliances for advocacy within multilateral institutions.
Ms. Botchwey held several high-level meetings with Pacific regional leaders and discussed a range of issues. They included climate change which constitutes a grave threat to small island nations and Africa, despite the fact that developed countries were the worst polluters.
She held talks with the Australian Minister for International Development, Pat Conroy with whom she exchanged ideas as to how to make the Commonwealth more impactful to member countries.
In another meeting with the Prime Minister of Fiji, Mr. Sitiveni Rabuka, she spoke of the need to make the commonwealth relevant at the “people to people level,” as well as among governments.
The Fijian leader recalled his years as a UN peacekeeper in southern Lebanon when serving under the command of the late General Emmanuel Erskine.
Ghana and Fiji are major contributors to UN peacekeeping work.
“We share a common history (as former British colonies), but we must work to build a common future, Mr. Rabuka said.

Chinese scientists have made an unusual discovery while analysing the sample Chang’e-5 collected from the Moon’s surface in December 2020.
They found naturally occurring “few-layer graphene” for the first time, as state-run news agency Global Times reports, which could have major implications for humankind’s plans to make use of local resources once on the lunar surface.
The discovery could also offer new insights into the early geological evolution of the Moon. As the South China Morning Post reports, it may even upend a long-held theory that the Moon was formed after a small planet collided with the Earth and that much of its carbon came from this impact.
“The prevalent giant impact theory has been strongly supported by the notion of [a] carbon-depleted Moon derived from the early analysis of Apollo samples,” the team led by researchers from Jilin University wrote in their paper published in the journal National Science Review, as quoted by the SCMP.
However, the findings suggest the existence of a “carbon-capture process on the Moon,” leading to the “gradual accumulation of indigenous carbon” — a discovery that “may reinvent the understanding of chemical components… and the history of the Moon.”
No Impact
Using a form of non-destructive chemical analysis called “Raman spectroscopy,” the team confirmed the discovery of a type of few-layer graphene, which is graphene with anywhere between two and ten layers that can also be manufactured in a lab.
The researchers suggest the material may have formed as a result of solar wind battering the lunar surface and early volcanic eruptions.
The existence of pure “indigenous carbon” could challenge the long-held hypothesis that a small planet, roughly the size of Mars, collided with the Earth to form the Moon about 4.45 billion years ago.
However, the researchers admitted that meteorites may have still led to the formation of graphitic carbon on the Moon, as previous studies have suggested.
“Further in-depth property investigation of natural graphene would provide more information on the geologic evolution of the Moon,” the team concluded.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Atwima Nwabiagya South, Emmanuel Agyei Anhwere, has insisted that he was not chased away by angry constituents after the death of a resident.
A video that has gone viral shows the MP being whisked away by the police from being attacked by an angry mob during a visit to his constituency.
The angry mob slammed the MP after the body of a 57-year-old man, John Kwame Asumang, who drowned following Wednesday’s downpour was recovered.
The deceased is said to have drowned after crossing a bridge during the rains.
Residents attributed his death to the poor state of roads and a broken bridge in the area.
Rejecting claims of being mobbed during an interview on the Eyewitness News, Emmanuel Agyei Anhwere clarified that he was rather hooted at by his constituents and not chased away as reported in media circles describing such claims as misleading.
He appreciated the concerns of his angry constituents and expressed sympathies to the bereaved family.
The legislator admitted the bridge has become unmotorable.
“The story is misleading, I wasn’t chased away, I didn’t go there to commiserate with the family, even though I had planned to do that at another time. The Divisional Police Commander ACP Joe Owusu called me on my phone and informed me that there had been some agitations at the bridge as a result of the death of a motor rider, who intended crossing to go and do his business, so they won’t allow anyone to cross, so I should go over.”
He further recounted, “When I went there, policemen were there, the Commander and his officers were 10 in number, just to have a discussion as to how best we can solve the issue. When it rains, the place gets flooded, they can’t use it, the bridge is not passable, and the unfortunate happened. I wasn’t chased away, though when I went there, the residents started massing up. They hooted at me. I do appreciate their concerns, in view of the fact that it involves the loss of life. I wasn’t chased away or pelted with stones. The police escorted me to my car and I drove away”.
He admitted that there was a splash of water but denied the stone was pelted at him.
“I saw a splash of water, I saw an object fall into the water, but I cannot say it was targeted at me or not,” he further clarified.
He said all efforts to get the bridge fixed proved futile.

The Chamber of Cement Manufacturers (COCMAG) has expressed concern about a recent proposal of a Legislative Instrument (LI) in Parliament to regulate cement prices.
The Minister of Trade and Industry, Kobina Tahir Hammond had made the proposal to ensure uniformity and stability in cement prices nationwide.
However, Dr George Dawson-Ahmoah, the Chief Executive Office of COCMAG, who voiced the industry’s concerns in a petition to Parliament, expressed worry that “the proposal was made without any prior consultation with the key stakeholders in the cement industry, particularly the cement manufacturers.
“Such an approach, he said, “undermines the principles of fairness, transparency, and inclusive decision-making, which are vital for the effective governance and regulation of the industry.
“He said the Chamber believed that the issues leading to the escalation of cement prices were complex and multifaceted, primarily driven by the rapid and consistent depreciation of the Ghanaian cedi against the US dollar.
Addressing those challenges, Dr Dawson-Ahmoah noted, required a comprehensive understanding and collaborative effort from all relevant parties, including the Ministry of Trade and Industry, cement manufacturers, and other stakeholders.
“The unilateral attempt by the Hon. Minister to introduce this proposal to Parliament without engaging with us is not only unfair but also detrimental to the spirit of partnership and mutual respect that should guide our collective efforts to stabilize and grow the industry,” the CEO of COCMAG stated.
In light of the concerns, the COCMAG urged Parliament to decline the proposed Legislative Instrument.
The Chamber further urged Parliament to direct the Minister of Trade and Industry to engage with the Chamber of Cement Manufacturers and other relevant stakeholders to discuss and address the underlying causes of the price escalation.
The CEO said such a collaborative approach would enable the Chamber to develop effective and sustainable solutions that considered the interests of all parties involved.
“We trust that you will consider our petition so as to ensure that the voices of the primary stakeholders in the cement industry are heard and respected,” the CEO, also the Anglican Bishop of Nkoranza, said in the petition to Parliament.
“We remain committed to working collaboratively with the government to achieve a stable and prosperous cement industry in Ghana,” it added.
The morning of October 11, 2023, witnessed a twist of events in the legal arena as Justice Edward Twum adjourned proceedings to 3 pm to address an application brought forth by Cecilia Dapaah against the Special Prosecutor, thelawplatform.online reports.
Her application sought an early hearing of the confirmation application filed by the Special Prosecutor.
Notably, Martin Kpebu, a lawyer known for his appearances on a weekend political affairs show on TV3, was present in court for a separate matter.
After Justice Twum adjourned the session, Mr. Kpebu, accompanied by his clients, emerged from the courtroom.
Meanwhile, lawyers representing Madam Cecilia Dapaah, led by Mrs. Victoria Barth, exited the courtroom alongside Madam Dapaah and her husband, engaged in conversation.
As they stepped outside the courtroom, a conversation between Mrs. Barth and Mr. Kpebu took an intense turn.
Mrs. Barth voiced her dissatisfaction with Mr. Kpebu’s statements, particularly regarding his public commentary.
She emphasized the importance of legal ethics, which discouraged prejudicial commentary by lawyers in the media. Mrs. Barth repeatedly underlined Mr. Kpebu’s role “as a lawyer” to underscore her displeasure with what she saw as unfair and inaccurate remarks against her client.
Madam Dapaah, known for her calm demeanor, approached Mr. Kpebu, conveying her concerns about the perceived unfairness of his commentary.
She gestured to Mr. Kpebu in what appeared to be in a confrontational style.
Mr. Kpebu, however, remained steadfast in his position, emphasizing that his commentary was based on available facts.
He reiterated his commitment to delivering commentary on the matter, displaying unwavering confidence in his stance.
Kenyan nanny Rosie Samson, also known as Rozah Rozalina Samson, has addressed suggestions that her employers exploited her for the sake of online attention and recognition.
Over the weekend, Rosie became a global sensation when a TikTok video, shared by her employers, showcased an emotional farewell with the four children she had cared for in Lebanon including the internet-famous twins Maria and Cataleya.
In a tearful goodbye at the airport, the parents found it difficult to separate the children from Rosie. Even with assurances of her eventual return, the kids clung tightly to their beloved nanny, creating a poignant moment.
“Thank you, Rosie, for caring for our babies like they’re yours,” the parents said.
Days before her departure, the family also commemorated Rosie’s birthday with an extravagant celebration.
“Thank you so much. You are a great person and you are part of our family,” the father says in the video. He also implored Rosie to ensure her return, saying, “We can’t survive without you.”
The emotional airport goodbye elicited netizens’ admiration for the evident strong bond between Rosie and the children. However, another section raised questions about the motivations behind sharing such a personal moment on social media, suggesting the possibility of her employers using her for fame.
Addressing the speculations, Rosie took to YouTube to defend her employers.
She affirmed that her employers had consistently demonstrated genuine care and kindness towards her, emphasizing that this was true even before the video gained viral attention.
“Today I want to address an issue that I have come across that is disturbing me. For those people who are saying that my bosses are using me and that they are faking tears, it is not true. Those people loved me from the day I went there. They accepted me and treated me very well from day one. In fact, I blended in from day one,” Rosie said.
Rosie also clarified that her employers were already well-known before her arrival, dispelling any notions that they sought fame through her or exploited her for publicity.
“Those people who are saying they are looking for likes. It’s not true; those people were famous even before I came back to Kenya. I do not know where that is coming from,” she explained.
Reflecting on her time in Lebanon, Rosie acknowledged the challenges faced by migrant workers in foreign countries. She expressed her hope for improved conditions for individuals working abroad.
“When I was in Lebanon, I always prayed that we who work there should at least have something different. It was so heartbreaking kuona mtu ameuliwa, mtu anateswa. It was very sad,” she said.

Manchester City are ‘monitoring developments’ regarding Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite, according to a report.
Branthwaite has enjoyed an outstanding breakout season at Goodison Park despite the Toffees’ ongoing battle against Premier League relegation, and he is in line to earn his first senior England cap when they take on Belgium on Tuesday night.
The 21-year-old has been heavily linked with an exit from Everton in recent months amid his great form and the club’s precarious financial position – they have already been deducted six points for PSR breaches and could yet be docked more before the end of the season.
The Daily Mail report Man City are the latest side to ‘post their interests’ in Branthwaite, who has only played 35 Premier League matches in his career. The reigning champions are said to be attracted by his age, homegrown status and similarities to John Stones, who made the move from Everton in 2016.

In addition to City, the Mail add that Manchester United, Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in Branthwaite.
90min revealed earlier this month that United and Madrid are indeed admirers of Branthwaite, but could be put off by Everton‘s price tag of at least £70m. However, this could fluctuate based on their Premier League status next season.
United have not yet drawn up a list of definitive transfer targets for the summer window while INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe continue revamp operations behind the scenes, though Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise is a name liked by both old and new regimes at Old Trafford.
Madrid, meanwhile, are focusing their attentions on the signings of Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain and Alphonso Davies from Bayern Munich. They would only look to bring in a centre-back if they have funds left over to finance such a deal.
The flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has expressed deep concern over the alarming rise in unemployment rates in Ghana.
Recent data from the Ghana Statistical Service revealed an increase, with unemployment rates reaching 14.7 percent.
Speaking during his Building Ghana Tour in Accra on Wednesday, March 13, Mr Mahama stressed the urgent need to establish sustainable employment opportunities.
He thus highlighted the disproportionate impact on tertiary-educated individuals, who form a significant portion of the unemployed population.
Mr Mahama called on the incoming government to prioritise the implementation of policies aimed at creating genuine and sustainable employment.
He criticised the prevalence of temporary employment initiatives like NABCo, stating that they have failed to provide a lasting solution to unemployment.
“To have that 14.7% unemployment rate, tertiary-trained graduates are a bigger chunk than those below secondary and basic education, and so it is something that we need to look at. And so the next government’s major focus must be putting in policies that will create jobs, jobs, and jobs. And these should not be artificial jobs like we normally do; you do NABCo and you know that you have no sustainable place to put them after the three years when they graduate from NABCo, and yet, it is just done to win political points.
“[Government claims it has] given 100,000 young people jobs, and now when they finish the NABCo and you owe them nine months’ allowance arrears, and the government is refusing to pay them. And so we must aim more at sustainable jobs. And we can get those sustainable jobs in many places, including the agricultural value chain.”
According to Nana Acheampong, contrary to long-held public opinion, there has never been bad blood between him and his ‘brother’ Daddy Lumba.
The Highlife legend spoke to Nana Romeo on Accra 100.5 FM’s Ayekoo Ayekoo, Monday, April 22, 2024.
He was reacting to the notion that his supposed fight with Daddy Lumba was the first or at least the biggest between two music giants in Ghanaian music history.
“It may look as though we started this beef phenomenon but me and my brother, with whom people say I had a beef, had nothing ill going on between us. We had no problem, not for a single day.
“What happened was that after we made music together for a while, we parted. People thought it was over money or women,” he said.
“The fans were hurt because they had admired us as a duo of young talented music performers and breaking up, for them, was a signal that something big had caused it,” he explained.
Nana Acheampong said, “When we broke into two different music brands, it also divided the fans causing rivalry similar to the one between football teams Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, struggling for one trophy.”
He said the fight was really among the fans, buttressing “no one heard him or I make any accusation against the other”.
The influential singer-songwriter recalled how keen the rivalry between his fans and Lumba’s as members of the public gathered into two factions: “Nana Acheampong Football Club and Daddy Lumba Football Club.”
“They were fighting but my brother and I had no beef between us,” he stressed. “We didn’t do what is done now where there is give and take, and verbal exchanges.”
He admitted some of their songs “clashed,” in fact. However, concerning Daddy Lumba songs that seemed to aim at him, he offered: “In my opinion, those songs were not made about me. I don’t claim them for myself and vice versa.”
“These were just songs we released to entertain our fans,” he said.
Nana Acheampong categorically said he has never recorded and released a diss track. His music only mirrored life, he added.
In the 80s, before seeking solo careers, Nana Acheampong and Daddy Lumba were a Highlife duo called Lumba Brothers. They initially met in Germany and performed in line with the Burger Highlife tradition.
According to Daddy Lumba, he was once a Gospel act in Germany “until I found Nana Acheampong, who introduced me to Highlife. He has played a major role in my music career and I owe him a lot”. He was eulogizing Acheampong during his performance at The Legends Night program at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) in January 2023.
When Nana Acheampong surprisingly joined Daddy Lumba on stage that night, it marked a moving reunion after many years since their legendary beef.
Meant for release in 1986 but eventually materializing in 1989, Yɛɛyɛ Aka Akwantuo Mu (Stranded Abroad) was the Lumba Brothers’ first long play (LP), executive produced by Daddy Lumba’s wife, Akosua Serwaa.
‘Ye Wo Nyame’ (We Have God) is Nana Acheampong’s latest offering and features Fameye.
A former Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, has slammed former President John Dramani Mahama for failing to put measures in place to solve the cocoa swollen shoot virus disease in the country during his tenure.
He said the former President should have tabled some measures to curb the recurring of the disease which affected several hectares of farmland.
Parts of the country were severely hit by the swollen shoot virus disease during the erstwhile Mahama administration. Western and Eastern regions were the most affected.
Cases of the disease were recorded in Ghana between 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2017 and 2021, where millions of trees were affected.
But laying the blame on Mr. Mahama, on the Point of View with Bernard Avle, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto said, “cocoa production has almost stagnated and for a good reason. The swollen shoot virus disease set in about 11 years ago. The NDC-Mahama administration should have taken measures immediately when the incident started to stop spreading. But it was only when we came that through the African Development Bank, we managed to get a loan for rehabilitation to control the virus in the cocoa industry. The project started in 2020, it’s in 3rd year of implementation”.
He stressed, “the Ivorians took measures when it should have been taken, unlike Ghana where it festered to the extent that Western North production came down. We have taken some measures to correct something which should have been done 10 years back”.
The cocoa swollen shoot virus disease (CSSVD) is one of the most devastating diseases on cacao and causes significant production losses and death of cacao trees. The CSSVD is caused by a badnavirus within the family Caulimoviridae.
A new political party “Save the Nation” has been launched in Accra ahead of the December 7 elections with a call on Ghanaians to embrace its vision of transforming the country from its current situation.
Speaking at a launch last Monday in Accra, the leader of the party, Desmond Kwame Abrefa said Ghana has not been able to develop over the years due to lack of leadership to transform the economy like other developed countries.
He said ” clearly, our roads, markets, health centers, educational structures are not up to standard as compared to most developed and developing countries across the globe”.
According to him, various governments have also failed to train the youth with hands-on skills that would enable them to take up roles aimed at providing them opportunity to contribute towards the development of the country.
He also subscribed to the call by many for a “politically inclusive government” where people are offered opportunities to serve irrespective of their political affiliations.
He said that the country could lose a lot of its human resource if people were continuously denied opprtunities to serve based on their political leanings.
“I am pleading with Ghanaians to come and join “Save the Nation Movement” for us to collectively move Ghana to the next level”.
“We are all Ghanaians, let’s forget about this divisive partisan politics and bring every one on board because there are brilliant people in this country”. he added
Mr. Abrefah further expressed his preparedness to initiate home grown policies to address the challenges facing the country instead of resorting to supports from some advanced countries by some African leaders.
Lawyer Martin Kpebu, has accused the Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Bagbin of turning the Constitution on its head after he labelled the creation of the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), as an “act in futility.”
Bagbin maintained that the Attorney General’s department should be decoupled from the Ministry of Justice for more effective prosecutorial governance.
However, Kpebu contested this perspective, asserting that the Speaker had misspoken and was contradicting the Constitution.
Speaking in an interview on Joy News on December 12, 2023, Kpebu, expressed his disagreement with the Speaker’s stance, emphasizing that the OSP’s primary challenge was insufficient funds rather than the need for structural changes.
“Lawyers will say, ‘I vehemently disagree with the Speaker.’ You know, ordinarily, the Speaker has been a very strong bastion of our democracy. He has done a bit well, psychologically. Even the fact that he is from the opposition just makes the conversations and our national dialogue good.
“That at least somebody from the opposition can voice his opinion and he is in charge as Speaker. It gives our democracy a good feeling, so generally, I am positively disposed towards him. However, on this occasion, I think Mr Speaker misspoke. He seriously misspoke. I am trying to see exactly where he is coming from.
“The problem is not funding perse. The problem is about independence, the grit, that resilience of somebody who can take the necessary decision to prosecute corruption and corruption-related offenses,” he asserted.
He argued that giving the Attorney General conditions equivalent to a minister, as suggested by Bagbin, would undermine the constitutional framework.
“You know in Mr Speaker’s bid to make that point too strongly, then he is turning the constitution on its head. The constitution is very clear in article 88 that the Attorney General is a minister of state and Mr Speaker is saying that the Attorney general is a technical person and just give him conditions equivalent to a minister how?
“…so the speaker cannot be here and say the Attorney General is just a technical person and then give him conditions akin to a Speaker of Parliament, no, and its normal, we all get it wrong at some of the time .
“I go to court I get it wrong. So that is why I said generally I like the speaker, he does well but this one no, he just misspoke.”
Kpebu stressed the importance of the OSP’s independence, asserting that the current setup, with the Attorney General being part of the president’s cabinet, was not conducive to prosecuting corruption cases impartially.
Kpebu suggested that the Speaker’s position on the matter was a deviation from the widely accepted view that an independent body like the OSP was necessary for effective anti-corruption efforts.
“So, it is undisputable that over the decades we have all agreed that usually, an Attorney General who is appointed by the president and is part of the president’s cabinet is not the best person to prosecute his colleagues. They don’t usually do well,” he added.
The US Ambassador to Ghana, Virginia Palmer, has warned that the passage of the Anti-LGBTQ+ law could affect trade and investment in the country.
Ambassador Palmer said that while a number of American companies are preparing to invest in Ghana, any law that discriminates against LGBTQ+ people could hurt the country’s reputation and make it less attractive to investors.
Speaking to journalists in Accra, Ambassador Palmer said: “Lots of ethnic communities make Ghana strong, stable, and attractive for investments. I hope it stays that way with regard to the LGBTQ community. They should be managed to be made the colour of the money green or red if it’s Ghanaian, but if it is discrimination, then that will send a signal not to [only] LGBTQ investors and exporters but to other American companies. Then Ghana will be less welcoming…so I hope it stays that welcoming,” the US Ambassador to Ghana Virginia Palmer said.
The Anti-LGBTQ+ Bill, which is currently under consideration by Parliament, aims to criminalize LGBTQ+ activities, prohibit the promotion and advocacy of LGBTQ+ content, and provide protection and support for children and individuals involved in LGBTQ+ issues.
The Supreme Court of Ghana dismissed an application in July 2023 seeking to injunct the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, from continuing with the consideration of the bill.
The application was filed by a researcher named Dr. Amanda Odoi, who argued that the ongoing consideration of the bill is a breach of Article 108 of the 1992 Constitution.
Article 108 of the Constitution stipulates that no bill or motion shall be considered by Parliament if, in the opinion of the person presiding, the bill is to impose taxation, impose a charge on the consolidated fund or other public funds unless it is introduced by the president.
It is the contention of the applicant that the bill considered in its entirety will impose a charge on the consolidated funded and offends the 1992 Constitution as it is a private members bill.
This legal action adds to the ongoing debate and controversy surrounding the anti-LGBTQ+ bill, with stakeholders expressing differing opinions on the proposed legislation.
Gloria B. Noi, Director of Policy, Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation (PPME) at the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations, has noted that the negative impact of global warming and climate change has become increasingly visible around the world.
She made the remarks in an address read on behalf of the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations at a sensitization and advocacy workshop organised for some selected journalists in Accra on the National Green Jobs Strategy.
In the address, she noted that, as concerned citizens, we must remain well-informed about climate change and its adverse effects on our environment and well-being.
According to her, the knowledge of the measures and strategies to combat climate change will equip us to make informed decisions, especially in matters concerning the sustainability of the environment and the labour market.
The Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations has held a day-long sensitization and awareness-creation workshop on the Green Jobs Strategy in Accra for some selected journalists.
The workshop was organised at the Central Hotel, Ridge, Accra, on Thursday, January 25, 2024.
She said climate change has significant implications for human life if the government fails to implement measures to combat it. She admonished the media to help raise awareness of the National Green Jobs Strategy and the transition from brown to green environments.
“The media should play a crucial role in ensuring a sustainable green environment. The media should intensify education on issues of climate change and the requirements for a just transition. Through investigative journalism, the media can bring to light environmental issues that can influence decision-making.
The media can play a significant role in promoting best practices by showcasing successful green initiatives, businesses, and projects. The media can also facilitate dialogue by providing platforms for informed and constructive discussions. Engaging experts, policymakers, and the public in meaningful conversations about the intersection of environmental sustainability and job creation is essential for raising awareness and fostering understanding.”
According to her, the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations and its partners are working together to develop a national green jobs strategy to maximise job creation potential in the emerging green economy. She said there was an urgent need to identify the requisite green skills for relevance to the green economy.
She emphasises that everyone has a role to play in creating green jobs at the national and local levels.
She lamented that the issue of global warming in Ghana, fuelled by human activities and the buildup of greenhouse gases, has worsened in recent times due to illegal mining activities, commonly known as galamsey.
She said that while climate response measures offer broader benefits, they can also have adverse effects on the labour market.
She underscored the need for the maximisation of more job opportunities through green jobs. “The ILO advocates for a “Just Transition to an environmentally sustainable economy.” This involves minimising negative impacts and maximising job creation opportunities, with a strong emphasis on ensuring that no one is left behind.”
A policy decision to limit the importation of fossil fuel vehicles in favour of electric vehicles to reduce carbon emissions could adversely affect mechanics specialising in fossil fuel vehicle repairs, rendering them jobless overnight. Hence, collaboration is crucial to mitigate job losses and maximise opportunities for adopting green technologies.”
The strategy she explained was designed to help secure better job opportunities for the youth, in particular.
A sudden shift from a brown economy as we currently have in Ghana to a green economy to mitigate the effect of climate change will render a lot of workers jobless and increase unemployment in the country.
To secure the future of work for workers in Ghana, the MELR and its social partners developed the National Green Jobs Strategy to ensure a just transition from a brown to a green economy.
Creating green job opportunities is a shared responsibility, aiming for policy alignment, coordination, green skills development, and support for green enterprises. The purpose of this one-day media sensitization is to create awareness and forge a partnership with the media in ensuring a just transition.”
The Ghana Green Jobs Programme outlines key critical routes for promoting green jobs, including inter-sectoral approaches, good collaboration, and enterprise development.
The country’s top five emerging sectors for enterprise development and job generation have been recognised.
The sectors included renewable energy, agriculture, waste management, recycling, construction, ecotourism, and nature-based tourism.
Jobs in these industries include pico and wind hydro, solar home systems, solar panels, nuclear energy, organic fertiliser, pesticides, forestry, soil management, collection and sorting, waste processing, natural building materials, ecotourism, and ecologically friendly hotels and homestays.
Canada, in 2023, is closing its doors to Nigerians and other foreigners who intend to buy residential properties for the next two years according to a new law that took effect on January 1.
The ‘Prohibition on the Purchase of Residential Property by Non-Canadians Act’ was enacted to lower residential property prices, thought to have risen sharply due to foreigners buying the homes as investments and leaving locals with no choice but to purchase at exorbitant prices.
“The desirability of Canadian homes is attracting profiteers, wealthy corporations, and foreign investors,” Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Liberal Party wrote on its website.
It added, “This is leading to a real problem of underused and vacant housing, rampant speculation, and skyrocketing prices. Homes are for people, not investors.” In cities like Vancouver and Toronto, taxes have been introduced to non-residents and vacant properties to deter foreign investors and make housing costs affordable for locals.
The new law, however, makes exceptions for immigrants and permanent residents, allowing them to own residential properties. Average home prices from more than $590,000 at the beginning of 2022 have significantly dropped to $465,000, according to the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA). The association worried Canadians could suffer should countries like the U.S. and Mexico pass a similar law in retaliation. “Canadians purchase vacation and residential properties in many countries, but particularly in the United States,” noted CREA.
The group asserted that many locals who buy properties abroad to escape Canada’s cruel winter might be the ones to bear the brunt of the new law. “These provide Canadians with a place to spend the winter months and are a form of savings for Canadian retirees,” asserted CREA. “If Canada places a ban on Americans owning property in Canada, we should expect them to respond in kind.”
A 56-year-old elderly driver of one of the ride-hailing services has expressed his frustration and disappointment with the state of the Ghanaian economy and the performance of the ruling party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The driver, who identified himself as Samuel K. Armah, said he has been a loyal supporter of the NPP all these years, but he feels betrayed and abandoned by the party he voted for.
According to him, there is no hope that the country will turn for the better.
“Nothing would be softened in this country, everything would continue to rise and nothing would be better. Whoever tells you Ghana would be better till thy kingdom comes. Our leaders don’t have a good mindset” he stated.
Reflecting on 2012 general elections, Armah recalled his efforts such as vigilantly monitoring ballot boxes to ensure the NPP wins power.
Despite these efforts, he feels little has changed for the better since then.
“In 2012, we voted for two days and that was unprecedented. We followed the ballot boxes to the police station so that nobody would shortchange any candidate. After all we did, we saw what happened.
“I am a card bearing member of the NPP, I have my card in the house but I would vote against them. If anything at all, Mahama is the option. The devil you know is better than the angel you don’t know. Mahama was the devil, Akufo-Addo was the angel,” he added.
As a result of the hardship, Samuel Armah, stated that he prefers to have moved to another country to continue his trade as a driver.
“Once you become a president or minister, you become rich, why should that be the case? At my age, 56, I still want to leave this country. At the moment, I have a country in mind. I have a friend in that country, I will go there to drive just like I am doing here. I am not thinking about myself, because if at this time I am suffering, what about my children?” he questioned.
The Office of the Attorney General would be calling 11 witnesses as it pushes to secure a conviction in the trial of Chief Executive Officer of defunct Menzgold Ghana Limited, Nana Appiah Mensah (NAM1) and two of his companies for defrauding its customers.
The Director of Public Prosecutions, Yvonne Atakora Obuobisa, yesterday told a High Court in Accra that some of the witnesses would need four hours for their evidence-in-chief, while some would need just about 40 minutes.
Kwame Akuffo, counsel for the accused, indicated he would need 30 minutes in cross-examining the first 10 witnesses but would need an hour to cross-examine the case investigator.
NAM1 and two of his companies – Menzgold Ghana Limited and Brew Marketing Consult Ghana Limited are facing 39 counts of defrauding by false pretence, inducing members of the public to invest and money laundering.
An initial charge sheet filed before the court accused the three of inducing members of the public to invest a total of GH¢1,680,920,000.
That figure has significantly dropped to GH¢340,835,650, which the three are said to have induced customers into investing due mainly to the fact that some of the complainants are not willing to testify.
The court yesterday finalised case management and completion plan and the trial judge, Justice Ernest Owusu-Dapaa, a Court of Appeal judge sitting as an additional High Court judge, has target the end of March 2024 to deliver his judgement.
Meanwhile, the judge has encouraged the parties to consider settling the case through a plea bargain.
Justice Owusu-Dapaa said the parties have between now and the time he would deliver his judgement to take the opportunity to reach an agreement.
He added that since the issues have to do with money, there is an opportunity for the parties to reach an agreement and the court would take a look at it.
Kwame Akuffo, counsel for the accused, indicated to the court that he had not received such instruction from his clients at the moment.
The court adjourned the case to December 20, 2023, for the prosecution to call its first witness.
NAM1 has pleaded not guilty to all the charges and was admitted to a bail of GH¢500 million with four sureties with no justification.
He was also ordered to deposit his passport with the court’s registrar and to report to the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ghana Police Service every Thursday.

Cape Coast, Dec .02, GNA – Mr Ernest Arthur, the Mayor of Cape Coast, has been elected to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 Parliamentary elections in Cape Coast South.
He garnered 290 votes in the closely contested polls on Saturday, to beat Theodora Sarah Afful, the Central Regional Director of the Youth Employment Agency, and Mr James Brew-Wartemberg, who polled 279 and nine votes respectively.
This means the Mayor will battle it out with the three-term Member of Parliament, George Kweku Ricketts-Hagan of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The election recorded 579 votes out of which one was rejected.
There was spontaneous jubilation from supporters of the Mayor from outside of Adisadel College Park, where the polls were held even before counting ended.
The exercise was generally peaceful under heavy security presence.
Mr Arthur, after his election, called for unity and peace among all supporters to enable the party to capture the seat in 2024.
He said the results which was almost a split between Madam Afful and himself, was a clear indication of some division among the supporters and pledged to bring them together.
He urged his supporters to be calm and moderate in their jubilation to ensure unity ahead of the major contest next year.
Madam Afful, despite losing the contest, said she was impressed with her performance, indicating that she was not disappointed.
She commended the delegates for their support and rallied all supporters of the various candidates to work together to win the seat.
“After every contest, there is a compromise. So, I will speak to my followers and together, we will work for the betterment of the party,” she pledged.
Madam Caroline Ewusi, the Cape Coast South Chairperson of the NPP, invited all party supporters to work collaboratively towards success in the Election 2024.
She was hopeful the NPP would emerge victorious at the end of the parliamentary polls in 2024, which should be issue-based to showcase the Party’s performances within the period of its administration.

Afua Asantewaa decision to hide the result of her GWR sing-a-thon attempt and her recent interviews seem to be getting on the bad side of some netizens.
While some fans are expecting her to apologize for her act, she continues to grant interviews to defend herself and her decision not to make the result public despite knowing about it for weeks now.
Her husband identified as Kofi Owusu Aduonum has also granted an interview and seeking the tourism board and stakeholders to name the Akwaaba village after his wife.
Unconfirmed information sighted on social media indicates that her husband used to be married with two kids and left his ex-wife to start a relationship and eventually get married to Afua Asantewaa.
According to faceless Instagram blogger Thosecalledcelebs, apologizing for what they did would be the last thing Afua Asantewaa Aduonum and her husband would do because they are doing their best to spite the ex-wife of Mr Aduonum.

The netizen posted: “……mummy you have not heard erh our husband said we should name Akwaaba vilage after madam ooo awwwwnn”
Popualar Ghanaian-made dance crew DWP (Dance With Purpose) is experiencing a shake-up as reports currently online allege that Afronita, a key member of the crew, has left to pursue a solo career.
Known for their energetic dance performances and collaborations with various artists, DWP has become a prominent force in the entertainment industry.
Afronita, who has been an integral member of the crew since its inception a few years ago, has recently made changes to her official Instagram handle, removing the DWP affiliation from her profile.
This move has fueled speculation about her departure from the dance collective.
Rumors about Afronita’s departure began circulating several months ago, suggesting that she perceived herself as too significant within the crew and was unwilling to heed the instructions of the dance crew’s manager.
The alleged discord gained attention when MOG Beatz, a Ghanaian music producer, engaged in an online spat with DWP manager Quables over the crew’s failure to fulfil a dance video contract.
The latest development, with Afronita reportedly focusing on her solo career, adds a new layer to the ongoing narrative surrounding the dance crew.
The departure of a key member raises questions about the future direction of DWP and its ability to maintain its dynamic and cohesive performances without Afronita’s presence.

Dancegod Lloyd confirms exit from DWP Academy
Popular dancer Laud Anoo Konadu well known as Dancegod Lloyd has confirmed rumors of his exit from the ‘DWP’ Academy.
It was earlier rumored that the co-founder of the Dance with a Purpose (DWP) Academy Dancegod was having issues with the other members of the group.
According to reports, Dancegod had a misunderstanding with one of the managers of the group, Quables. Many people started suspecting that Dancegod was no more part of the dance group when he was absent on stage while his other members performed at the Global Citizen Concert.
During the back and forth, Nicholas Botchway known well as Afrobeast, one of the founders of the Academy tried to calm waters by explaining the absence of Dancegod during an interview on Hitz FM.
He said, “Dancegod Lloyd happened to be in Nigeria during the rehearsals. He missed 90% of the entire rehearsal sessions and even though he was through with his project before the final rehearsal kicked off, he couldn’t join the crew to perform because the list of dancers had already been submitted to the Global Citizen Festival event organizers.”
The thing is, they wanted a certain amount of number and Dancegod Lloyd wasn’t available at the time,” Afrobeast earlier said in an interview with Hitz FM.
However, in a new development, Dancegod in a Tiktok live has dispelled the narrative confirming that he has left the music group.
The President of the Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives (GCNM), Professor Mrs Victoria Bam, has appealed to the government to urgently fill vacancies of over 4,000 nurses who have emigrated for greener pastures.
She said this was necessary because those left behind could face burnout and stress.
The President of GCNM was speaking in an interview on the sidelines of the College’s 8th Annual General Meeting (AGM) and 4th Scientific Conference at Gomoa Fetteh in the Central region.
It was held on the theme; “A decade of nursing and midwifery specialist education in Ghana: Innovation and high impact interventions towards Universal Health Coverage (UHC)”.
Prof. Bam noted that though emigration was not new, the current situation was alarming, attributing the situation to poor remuneration and conditions of service, which must be improved.
She said: “When we talk about conditions of service it’s not only the salary, but to meet the health and educational needs of their families and be able to make progress in life.”
The GCNM President expressed concern over the lack of adequate resources in the various facilities and called on the government to resource the facilities to enable them to execute their mandate effectively.
She said: “As a nurse, it is so frustrating when you know so well that you have the knowledge and skills to help a patient, but you lack basic resources to work.
“We have graduated nurses and midwives who are sitting at home. The more you use your skills, the more competent you become. We acknowledge the fact that there are financial challenges in the country, but the issue is that they are migrating and we need urgent action to curb the menace,” she added.
Ms Hannah Akua Oparebea Acquah, Rector, GCNM, said one sure way to motivate and retain the critical workforce would be to provide more opportunities for professional growth through higher education.
Former Registrar, Nurses and Midwives Council, Reverend Mrs Veronica Darko said the journey towards Universal Health Coverage demanded innovation, creativity and a steadfast commitment to improving the lives of people.
Rev. Mrs Darko acknowledged the importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies in the health system and assured of the College’s preparedness to embrace them.
The Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyeman Manu said empowering nurses and midwives and developing their skills through specialisation, would have a positive impact on Ghana to achieving UHC and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
He assured the leadership of government’s support for the growth and development of the College.
He said: “The government will continue to strengthen and increase investment in nurses’ and midwives’ education, training and capacity building in leadership and research.
“We will continue to create the needed enabling environment, we will continue to recognise and adequately remunerate specialists trained from the College and we will continue to support specialisation of nurses and midwives.”
The conference was to network, share ideas and discuss the challenges and progress as well as projections for the ensuing years.
This year’s conference also marked the 10th anniversary of the establishment of specialist nursing and midwifery training in Ghana.
A total of 49 associate members and 178 members from Accra, Kumasi and Tamale training sites, who have met all necessary requirements were inducted into the College.

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has revealed his ambitious plan to designate a ‘Sherehe’ zone at Uhuru Park for entertainment purposes, which will include a nightclub.
During the official handover of Uhuru Park and Central Park from the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) on Thursday, Sakaja announced plans to establish diverse social facilities on the newly revamped Uhuru Park grounds in Nairobi.
The County boss outlined his plan to transform the park into a thriving social and economic hub that embraces Kenyan culture and boosts county revenue.
Additionally, he announced the construction of restaurants and conference centers in the park through partnerships with the private sector.
As for the nightclub, the governor said it would provide people with an alternative to opening nightclubs within Nairobi estates.
“There is a nightclub that is going to be here. We agreed hiyo kupiga kelele kwa estate muache. You can come here and scream until the cows come home. That is the zone, sherehe mfanyie hapo,” he said.
Sakaja specified that additional projects in the park, including Swahili and African restaurants, among others, will be constructed under public-private partnerships (PPPs). He assured that the specific locations for these facilities have already been identified, ensuring transparency in the process for those interested in operating businesses within the park.

He announced that the county government will soon initiate the tendering process in accordance with the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act (PPDA).
“We are going to issue tenders for the business facilities that are here. We have restaurants that need to be run, a PPP for people to build, there’s a Biosphere restaurant, an African restaurant, a Swahili restaurant, there is a nightclub that is going to be here,” he said.
Sakaja emphasized that access to the park will remain free for Kenyans, but various measures and regulations will be implemented to ensure order and security, including the mandatory presentation of identification cards at entry points.
However, certain sections of Central Park will require a fee due to their exclusive nature.
“There is a beautiful Nyatiti feature for weddings and we can agree on how much it is per month we can bring that to the Finance Bill in the Assembly,” he said.
Sakaja’s Appeal to Nairobians
The governor at the same time appealed to the public, particularly Nairobi dwellers, to safeguard the park and refrain from any acts of vandalism. He urged them to adhere to the park rules posted at the entrance to the facility.
Sakaja emphasized that the undertaken activities incurred high costs.
“Let us commit ourselves to the preservation and enhancement of this park and others parks across the city,” he said while asking those who have encroached into it to immediately move out.
“Everybody who has encroached on the park, just do it on your own so that when we come you will not say we have demolished because we shall not leave until we have restored it.”
Sakaja added that there are still pending works to be undertaken, estimated to cost about half a billion shillings. This includes the installation of dancing fountains, which will require Kes.156 million.
“We are going to drain this entire pond so that we can concrete it to have clear water so that you can even enjoy the boat ride. We want to see ducks floating here, as it is you cannot have life because the ground is sand,” the governor said.

Renowned skit producer, Carter Efe revealed that he spent over N15 million to ensure the success of his song “Oyinmo,” featuring musician Young Duu.
Recall that following Carter Efe’s solo performance of the song “Oyinmo,” Young Duu had earlier accused him of ripping him off and taking advantage of his circumstances.
In a recent episode of Spill With Phyna, Carter Efe revealed that he invested a staggering N15 million to see the project through to completion.
He proceeded to state that he retained 60% of the song’s earnings for himself, leaving 30% for Young Duu and 10% for the executive producer.
He however wondered if the sharing percentage was low.
In his words,
“Oyinmo wey people dey talk say I rip Young Duu, see I spent close to like N15M on that project and I collected 60% from the song, I gave Young Duu 30% and the producer 10% from the song, is that bad?”

The notion that “bad boys” attract “good girls” is a stereotype and a generalization that may not be true for everyone.
People are attracted to others for various reasons, and it’s important to recognize that everyone has unique preferences and values in a partner.
That said, there are a few potential reasons why some people might be drawn to individuals who exhibit “bad boy” characteristics:
1. Confidence
Some individuals who are labeled as “bad boys” may exude confidence and self-assuredness, which can be attractive to many people.
Confidence can be appealing because it suggests that the person is comfortable in their own skin and can make their romantic interest feel more secure.
2. Excitement & novelty
“Bad boys” are often associated with a more adventurous and exciting lifestyle, which can be alluring to people who are looking for something different from their usual routine.

In conclusion, people’s preferences are highly individual, and what one person finds attractive, another may not but in most cases opposites attract.

The former Member of Parliament for the Okaikwei North constituency, Fuseini Issah, says the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) will take a cue from the Economist Intelligence Unit’s (EIU) report in order to retain the seat of government in the 2024 polls.
The EIU in its latest report released on Friday, April 28, 2023, predicted that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is likely to win both the presidential and parliamentary elections in Ghana in the 2024 polls.
“The NDC, therefore, stands a strong chance of winning the 2024 presidential poll and securing a legislative majority,” EIU noted.
The Unit cited poor governance and economic hardship as being, largely, the deciding factors for the expected voting patterns.
Speaking on the Big Issue, Citi TV/Citi FM’s news analysis programme, hosted by Selorm Adoono, Fuseini Issah argued that a government under an NPP is far better than that of the NDC adding that they will work hard to be retained.
“For us [NPP] we are going to take it [EIU report] as they have presented. We are going to take lessons from it, where we think that we are falling short, we are going to work harder. Ghanaians will attest to the fact that a government under the NPP is always much better,” the former legislator said.
He observed that incumbent governments around the world including the Government of Ghana have become unpopular due to the global economic crisis.
The former MP assured that Ghanaians will soon reap the benefits of the government’s Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP) which now seems like a bitter pill.
“EIU is being consistent in the last couple of years of elections. Their predictions and reports have had far-reaching outcomes when it comes to elections in Ghana. I think that incumbent governments around the world are not too popular given where the global economy is. No incumbent government now expects to be popular to easily win an election. Things will have to happen for an incumbent government to be able to retain power. Thankfully, in our context, they say elections are won even before elections come up. But we have some months to elections things might change”.
He added “We know that we have been through some quite challenging times. They mentioned that the DDEP may cause the NPP government some disaffection, which should be expected. But on the reverse, when we start having the positives or reaping the benefits of the bitter exercise that we have gone through. I’m sure that Ghanaians will be the first to attest to the fact that this was us taking chloroquine to be able to cure the malaria we had. Until we breakf those vicious cycles and structures we cannot make a headway”.
He said the NPP’s presidential candidate will floor former President John Dramani Mahama in the 2024 general elections.
“We know former President Mahama, he’s no stranger to us, he had the opportunity to be in the helm of affairs and performed abysmally. He brought the economy to its knees even when there was no global crisis. Ghanaians had to endure Dumsor for 3 to 4 years under his tenure,” Fuseini Issah said.
The Executive Director of the Africa Center for Energy Policy (ACEP), Ben Boakye, believes the Ghana Grid Company’s (GRIDCo) letter to the Minister of Energy raising concerns over the Electricity Company of Ghana’s failure to provide a load-shedding timetable for customers amidst the ongoing power outages is a ploy to absolve itself of blame.
GRIDCo in a letter dated March 28 to the Minister of Energy, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, voiced serious concerns about ECG’s failure to follow the load-shedding management instructions issued by the National System Control Center (NSCC).
Speaking about the contents of GRIDCo’s letter on the Citi Breakfast Show on Citi FM on Friday, April 5, Ben Boakye told host Bernard Avle that the letter was to officially absolve GRIDCo of blame in the ongoing power crisis.
“GRIDCo is aware of the generational gap in the power sector and all other stakeholders are aware of the challenges affecting the sector so the letter to the Energy Minister is to officially take itself out of what is happening in the sector because the gas to generate the power is not enough.”
GRIDCo in its letter stated that ECG’s non-compliance to National System Control Center’s directive poses a significant risk to the stability of the power grid, citing instances where ECG’s failure to comply has led to a drop in system frequency in some areas.
Ben Boakye also highlighted the possible impact the current power challenges will have on the revenue capabilities of the ECG stating that “Burkinabe authorities communicated recently about the power challenges to their people and said they are considering getting a power plant which will be a shoot in our foot.”

He made these comments on Joy Prime’s Celeb Biz with Amelley Djosu.
“Our goal is to become the most prestigious award in Africa, where everybody in Africa will want to fly in and be part of the experience. We have a lot of offshoots of the awards coming up. Thankfully, we’ve been able to do the soirees. The soirees are going to be like road events, preludes to the main event. Nigeria is constant now because we have so much love from Lagos, and we want to keep it there,” he indicated.
Mr. Soboh further added that there will be a series of events that will serve as precursors to the main awards.
He mentioned soirees, which have already started in Nigeria and will be extended to other countries such as Kenya, South Africa, and Rwanda.
There will also be End of Year Men Party added to the series of events.

The Brazilian Football Association (CBF) are considering appointing Carlo Ancelotti’s son, Davide, in a coaching role with the national team, sources have told ESPN, to help with the transition as they wait to appoint Ancelotti himself in June 2024.
CBF president, Ednaldo Rodrigues, has repeatedly stated that Ancelotti is his preferred choice to take charge of Brazil following the departure of Tite after the 2022 World Cup, but the Real Madrid boss has said he intends to see out his contract at the Bernabeu, which has one year left to run.
Sources told ESPN Brazil the CBF are looking at how best to handle the interim period, with one option being appointing Davide Ancelotti, who is serving as his father’s assistant at Madrid, to work with Brazil interim manager Ramon Menezes in the meantime.
Sources close to Ancelotti told ESPN they would not rule out the Italian taking charge of Brazil in June 2024, when his Madrid contract expires.
Davide Ancelotti, 33, first became his father’s assistant at Bayern Munich in 2016, and has since worked as his right-hand man at Napoli, Everton and now Madrid, where he is highly rated.
Brazil has already played friendlies with Morocco and Guinea, winning 4-1 in Barcelona on Saturday, since the World Cup and will face Senegal on Tuesday.
They are due to play six World Cup qualifying matches between September and November 2023, followed by a break until September 2024.
Plans have also been announced for a friendly with Spain in March 2024, which RFEF president Luis Rubiales has said will take place at the Bernabeu, as part of an anti-racism campaign over the abuse faced by Brazil and Madrid forward Vinicius Junior.
The Copa America is due to take place between June and July 2024, in the United States.
Carlo Ancelotti has coached clubs including Juventus, AC Milan, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Madrid in a 28-year managerial career, becoming the only coach to win four Champions Leagues, but has never taken charge of a national team.
The Member of Parliament for Wa Central, Abdul–Rashid Pelpuo, says the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) must own up to the mismanagement of the economy.
Mr. Pelpuo said that, unlike the NPP, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) engages in constructive criticism to improve the lives of citizens.
According to the MP, it will do the country a lot of good if the NPP stops shifting blame.
He said this on JoyNews’ AM Show on Wednesday, November 22.
“Insistently, they keep saying they are not wrong, it is Ukraine, it is not us, it is Covid, it is not us, it is the Bawku conflict, and now they are talking about the war in Gaza, is creating a problem for them so you don’t know what the problem is,” he said.
According to him, the NPP officials who are not satisfied with the state of the economy should admit to their dissatisfaction instead of giving excuses.
Mr Pelpuo further called out the ruling party for shooting down Mahama’s initiatives as President in the erstwhile administration.
He said posterity is on the former President’s side.
“Don’t say John Mahama didn’t also do well, no, we did well and you know it, they know it, everything they criticized us about they have apologized. Abossey Okai people apologized, the nurses have apologized”.
The Supreme Court has dismissed an application filed by South Dayi MP, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, challenging the approval of new ministerial and deputy ministerial nominees.
Mr. Dafeamekpor’s case centred on the legality of the recent ministerial nominations. He sought the Supreme Court’s intervention to declare unconstitutional the President’s authority to appoint ministers and deputy ministers without parliamentary approval.
However, the Supreme Court rejected Mr Dafeamekpor’s application, affirming the President’s constitutional prerogative to make such appointments.
At the same time, it was revealed in court that the lawyers for the South Dayi MP didn’t accept some court documents. These included the notice of hearing and the Attorney General’s opposition to a temporary court order.
This came to light when the case was called on Wednesday, and the plaintiff and his lawyer were not in court.
The Chief Justice, who was leading the bench, noticed that the plaintiff’s lawyer, Nii Kpappo Addo, had told a staff member not to accept any documents from the Supreme Court.
The bailiff swore that he had to leave the notice of hearing and the Attorney General’s opposition to the temporary court order when the staff of the South Dayi MP’s lawyer told him about the instruction.
The Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame, argued that this was disrespectful to the court. He asked the court to hear the temporary court order application anyway.
After confirming that the documents were properly filed, the Supreme Court allowed the temporary court order application to proceed.

Over the weekend, the people of Ga Mashie took their turn in the Homowo festivities for this year.
The streets of Ga Mashie were filled with the beating of the Odadaoo drums by the Gbese Mantse, as the townsfolk and tourists alike trooped the principal streets with excitement.
The special traditional meal, ‘Kpokpoi’ and palm nut soup were cooked and sprinkled all across the municipality as custom demands.
Homowo is a festival celebrated by the Gas to recount the devastating famine faced by their ancestors and to commemorate the return of rain.

The word Homowo (Homo – hunger, wo – hoot) means “to hoot at hunger” in the Ga language. Homowo is one of the colourful festivals celebrated by the Ga traditional area.
The people of Nungua begin the celebration, followed by Lante Dzan We Clan, then Tema, Ga Mashie, La, Osu, Teshie, Kpone, Prampram and Ningo.
The festival begins with the planting of maize, which is used for the preparation of traditional food, “kpookoi” during the festival. It’s characterized by the sprinkling of “Kpokpoi” to the gods and ancestors for spiritual protection. A month before this celebration is done there is a ban on noise-making.
This year’s celebration had a sharp change due to the death of the Queen mother of the Ga State, Naa Dede Omaedru III. Usually, the chief and his kinsmen sprinkle kpookoi on the principal streets within Ga Mashie but this year it was done in houses.
The centuries-old Homowo festival has become a uniting force among the Ga people.
Adomonline.com’s Joseph Odotei was present at the ceremony to capture these scenes:

A 3-0 victory over West Ham was exactly what Manchester United needed on Sunday.
Having finally started to put things together – a boost in form which coincides with Rasmus Hojlund’s discovery of his shooting boots – Erik ten Hag’s side climbed themselves up to sixth with a performance which, while not always comfortable, got the job done.
Here’s how the Red Devils fared in 90min‘s player ratings.
Man Utd’s best player vs West Ham
Alejandro Garnacho – 8/10

Who could have guessed that the guy who scored twice would end up winning the Player of the Match award?
It was a deserved honour for Garnacho, who was particularly dangerous in the second half and looked to be on top of the world as he constantly ran at West Ham’s defence in search of a moment of magic.
Honourable mention
Bruno Fernandes – 8/10
Fernandes picked up the assist for Garnacho’s first goal in a performance which featured real quality on the ball.
He created three chances for United but made an impact when out of possession as well, leading United’s press and handling some ugly defensive duties to keep his side ahead when West Ham were threatening to get back into the game.

Man Utd’s worst player vs West Ham
Harry Maguire – 4/10
A tricky outing for Maguire / Michael Regan/GettyImages
West Ham had 22 shots at Old Trafford – United themselves had just 12 – and so it’s safe to say they weren’t exactly at their best defensively.
Maguire was guilty of a handful of poor moments. He handed Emerson the chance for an equaliser immediately after half-time and had Diogo Dalot to thank when the full-back came over to stop Jarrod Bowen after he had got in behind Maguire.
Dishonourable mention
Marcus Rashford – 5/10
Rashford didn’t exactly get a whole lot wrong here, but he was a noticeable weak link in a United attack that ended up cooking on full heat.
While Fernandes, Garnacho and Hojlund were at the centre of United’s success, Rashford always appeared to be struggling. He was regularly given the chance to make something happen but, whether he was crowded out or made wrong decisions, things never really came off.
A 14-year-old boy was presented before a court in Eldoret on allegations of defiling two minors.
The court heard from the investigating officer that the teenager molested an eight-year-old boy and a girl aged 10 on March 23 and 24 at Jerusalem estate in Moiben Sub-County.
The boy is also accused of previously defiling six others in the same area before his arrest, NTV reports.
Appearing before Resident Magistrate Rodgers Otieno, the minor could not enter a plea due to the legal requirement that he must be represented by a lawyer.
“Looking at the case and the person being accused, it is not in order to go on and charge him without a representation of a lawyer,” the magistrate said.
The court directed the court executive officer, via the Court Users Committee, to assist the minor in securing a pro bono lawyer.
Additionally, the court instructed that the minor undergo an age assessment at the hospital before facing charges.
The minor informed the magistrate that he would prefer to be taken to a rescue center, citing an improved quality of life compared to his home.
Expressing concern about having a child as an accused in his court, the magistrate ordered the minor to be held at the Eldoret Rescue Centre for five days while a lawyer is arranged to represent him.
“I direct this file to be taken to the court executive to help us get a lawyer to represent the minor due to the nature of the offence he is alleged to have committed,” Magistrate Otieno directed.
The case is expected to be mentioned today, April 12th.

Vim Lady has descended heavily on her colleague journalist, Captain Smart following his rampant attacks on the wife of John Kumah among other people.
Speaking in a self-recorded video, Vim Lady has advised Captain Smart, who she said is her brother to desist from such evil bedeviling acts.
According to her, Captain Smart should not have waded into the issue of the deputy finance minister, John Kumah.
Vim Lady claims that as the fourth arm of government, what they speak on, or bring to the limelight should be something of public interest.
She noted that the death of John Kumah could have been of public interest if John Kumah had used the state’s money meant for projects for his gluttony.

Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has revealed that the government approved a budget of US$8.5 million presented by the Ghana Football Association for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
In a lengthy post on X (formerly Twitter), Okudzeto Ablakwa explained that his revelation is an effort to break ‘the basic information’ that the GFA and the Sports Ministry have ‘concealed’ to keep it out of the public eye.
“THE SECRET IS OUT; THE WAIT IS OVER — GOVT & GFA AGREED ON A BLACK STARS AFCON BUDGET OF AN ASTONISHING US$8.5MILLION (GHS105MILLION),” he wrote.
“I promised in my publication last week on the staggering GHS27.9million taxpayers spent on the Black Stars between 2022 and 2023, that I shall subsequently, in the supreme national interest, share further information on financials relating specifically to the AFCON tournament in Côte d’Ivoire — I intend to keep that promise today.
“Government and GFA officials have done everything under the sun to conceal how much they budgeted for the preparation and participation of the Black Stars at the ongoing 2024 AFCON.
“Despite strenuous efforts by Parliament and the ever dynamic and courageous Ghanaian sports journalists, the Youth and Sports Minister and his allies at the FA have blatantly refused to disclose this basic information — information the Ghanaian people have every right to know.”
He vowed to offer the breakdown of how the whopping amount was intended to be spent at the tournament.
“SOA Oversight shall be back with more explosive intercepted documents at 3 pm tomorrow.”
The Black Stars had a poor outing at the 2023 AFCON, drawing two, and losing one of their three games played in Group B.
A 2-1 defeat to Cape Verde in the opening game was followed by 2-2 draws with Egypt and Mozambique in the second and final group matches respectively.
With just two points and a goal deficit, the Black Stars recorded successive group-stage exits from the AFCON, having suffered the same fate in the 2021 edition.

Government’s deadline for bondholders to sign on to the Domestic Debt Exchange (DDE) Programme expires on Tuesday, February 7, 2023.
In its quest to further engage with stakeholders, especially individual bondholders, government for the fourth time extended the deadline for the Programme from January 31 to February 7, 2023, introducing new terms.
In its new terms, government says all individual bondholders who are below the age of 59 years will be offered instruments with maximum maturity of five years, instead of 15 years, and a 10% coupon rate; while retirees including those retiring in 2023 will be offered instruments with maximum maturity of five years, instead of 15 years, and a 15% coupon rate.
Government is hoping for an 80% subscription to the programme as it structures domestic debt to achieve 55% debt-to-GDP ratio by 2028, as part of efforts to secure a 3 billion dollar bailout from the IMF.
Meanwhile, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has noted that despite the initial resistance by some stakeholders involved in the Domestic Debt Exchange programme, government is gradually getting the support of all.
Nana Akufo-Addo says the successful implementation of the programme will ensure that Ghana gets the balance of payment support from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) by March 2023.
The President spoke at a meeting with the visiting German Finance Minister, Christian Lindner.
“One of the steps in the domestic debt exchange is, unfortunately, facing some difficulties, so it has not been concluded. As quickly as possible we are looking at the committee to ensure that all the stakeholders are well engaged”, he said.
The deadline for the government’s Domestic Debt Exchange Programme has been set for Tuesday, February 7, 2023.
The groups of Individual bondholders have also kicked against their inclusion in the government’s domestic debt exchange programme.
Organized labour on Wednesday, February 1, also reiterated its resistance against the government’s domestic debt exchange programme and assured that any attempts to repackage the programme to include pension funds will be fiercely rejected.
Arsenal striker Alessia Russo says women are finally getting the respect and attention they deserve as the Gunners continue to draw huge crowds inside the Emirates Stadium.
After selling out the 2023 Women’s Champions League semi-final against Wolfsburg, Arsenal played in front of a max-capacity Emirates in their last two WSL games against both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
Drawing crowds of 60,160 against United – a WSL record – and 60,050 against Spurs, Arsenal’s average attendance this season is higher than ten Premier League teams, and that feat is not lost on Russo.
“It’s been incredible,” she tells 90min at an Adobe Women’s FA Cup panel event at Wembley of the support from the Emirates faithful. “Every time you step out in front of a stadium like that, you get goosebumps. As a player, it’s so special, and the fact that we’re doing it consistently now, as Arsenal and as a club, we’re really paving the way.
“It’s what we deserve. It’s nice to play in front of as many people as possible, and hopefully it’s something we continue to do. It’s credit to the women’s game and credit to the fans.”
Those bumper crowds have witnessed an enthralling WSL title race this season. Russo’s Arsenal are battling it out with both Manchester City and leaders Chelsea, the latter of whom will host the Gunners at Stamford Bridge later this month.

“It’s really close,” she says of the title race. “It’s going to be tough, [Chelsea] are a top quality side.
“This league, this title race and everything that comes with it, is massive. You’ve got to be bringing your A-Game every week.”
Russo is well aware of the need to pay respect to those that paved the way in women’s football and fought for her right to be able to play in front of such huge crowds.
Reflecting on her favourite-ever players, Russo adds: “I was a massive fan of Kelly Smith when I was a kid, and she’s my coach now, which is really cool. It’s a bit of a full-circle moment. I used to love watching her play. She was a top quality forward.
“Also Marta. What she did for Brazil and for football in general, she’s a true legend of the game. [Her retirement] was a sad day for football, but the legacy she’s left on the game is incredible. She’ll go down in the history books forever, because she was an unbelievable player, but also a pioneer of the women’s game.”

I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to the extraordinary AMAA team for their unwavering commitment to recognizing and celebrating excellence in African cinema. Your dedication in creating this world-class awards scheme that honours Africa’s finest in film is truly commendable.
Tonight, this victory is not mine alone, nor does it belong solely to my dedicated team at Animaxfyb in Ghana. Instead, it is a triumph for an entire nation, my beloved motherland, Ghana. “Jabari” stands as the sole Ghanaian film chosen for this year’s awards, and this achievement is nothing short of remarkable. To be not only selected but to take home the award from such a prestigious event is an honour beyond words.
This achievement prompts a profound reflection on how far animation has come in Africa. A single animation piece now represents an entire industry within a nation. I earnestly beseech all executive producers, producers, and investors to pay heed to this burgeoning industry. Animation is a multi-billion-dollar industry, but sadly, Africa has not had its fair share of revenue.
The continent is brimming with immense talent and untapped potential, ready to make a mark in the global animation industry. I implore you to support us in bridging the revenue gap and help us tell the authentic stories of Africa.
This year’s event was held at the Balmoral Convention Centre of the Sheraton Hotel in Lagos, Nigeria on Sunday, 29th October 2023.

The Ministry of Finance has revealed that it is receiving the needed response from various stakeholders and individuals after it opened a three-day administrative window for bondholders who yet are to complete registration processes to do so following Tuesday’s deadline for the Debt Exchange Programme.
Speaking on behalf of the Finance Minister at the 2023 State Internet and Governance Authority Annual Stakeholders Engagement in Kwahu on Thursday, February 9, Deputy Finance Minister Abena Osei-Asare said the ministry is hopeful that the decisive steps adopted by the government will yield the necessary objectives.
“The government has responded decisively by responding to the crisis by adopting several measures to reset the economy and restore macro-economic stability. In connection with our debt exchange programme, the exercise was closed on Tuesday and a three-day administrative window opened to end on Friday for a few people who have to go through the respective processes to go through.
“We have received a considerable response from most of the stakeholders, institutions and for that we are grateful,” Osei-Asare said.
Madam Osei-Asare who expressed worry over the low level of dividends being paid by various SOEs to the government indicated that cost-efficiency measures remain a major part of the economic solutions and urged various SOE CEOs to enforce compliance to keep public spending measures in line with the current economic conditions and only focus on critical projects that will end benefits in this financial turmoil.
On his part the Minister for Public Enterprises, Joseph Cudjoe indicated that the Ministry of Finance may no longer be in the position to issue cheques to agencies and challenged all heads to be sensitive to the current economic situation and adopt strategic management skills.
He noted that the state ownership policy which is being discussed at the final stages for appro is intended to harmonize the public financial management act with SIGA act to address all ambiguities and inconsistencies identified over the years and solve all issues of fragmented policy issues in the sector.
In February this year, government borrowed an amount of GH¢24 billion via treasury bills.
This is 29.3% higher than its target, a report by myjoyonline indicated.
It further said government exceeded its 2-month target by GH¢12.4 billion.
“Investors submitted total bids worth GH¢24.1 billion (+8.8% month-on-month) while accepted bids were valued at GH¢24.0 billion (+8.9% mon-on-month), sustaining the government’s quest to build buffer for future auction shortfall as indicated in the 2024 budget,” the news portal stated.
In January this year, government borrowed GH¢12.7 billion from T-bills to finance maturing bills.
This was from the 91, 182, and 365-day bills.
The 91-day and the 364-day yields as of December 2023 were cut by 14 basis points and 74 basis points month-on-month to 29.4% and 32.5% respectively while the 182-day yield gained 19 basis points to 31.9%.

Meanwhile, government raised an amount of GH¢3.223 billion in the first auction of 2024.
This represented 15.24% more than the targeted amount.
Despite the high rates, the government has witnessed oversubscriptions in the past months except in a few instances where it saw slight undersubscriptions.
Kai Havertz joined Chelsea for £71m from Bayer Leverkusen in 2020
Arsenal have agreed a deal with Chelsea worth around £65m for Germany international forward Kai Havertz.
It is understood the clubs have made an agreement in principle that will allow the player to discuss personal terms and have a medical.
The fee for Havertz, who scored nine goals in 47 games for the Blues last season, could rise with add-ons.
Havertz, 24, joined Chelsea from Bayer Leverkusen in 2020 for a deal worth about £71m.
He also scored the winning goal for Chelsea in the 2021 Champions League final against Manchester City.
Havertz is set to move across London as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his Arsenal team following qualification for the Champions League.
Arsenal are also chasing England midfielder Declan Rice, the West Ham captain, but a second bid for the 24-year-old – worth up to £90m – was rejected on Tuesday.
Chelsea, meanwhile, are seeking to reduce their squad size and have also agreed a £30m deal with Manchester City for Croatia midfielder Mateo Kovacic, 29. Another midfielder, France international N’Golo Kante, 32, has agreed to sign for Saudi Arabian champions Al-Ittihad when his contract expires at the end of June.
The new ownership at Chelsea want to avoid letting players enter the final two years of their deals and Havertz, whose contract runs out in 2025, has not agreed an extension at the club.
The Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has refuted claims that former President John Dramani Mahama must shoulder some responsibility for the recent power outages, commonly known as ‘dumsor’.
In recent times, various parts of the country have experienced ‘dumsor’, sparking concern among businesses and citizens alike. Despite this, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has reassured the public that there is presently no immediate need for a load-shedding schedule.
However, the NDC has criticized the government’s handling of the ‘dumsor’ situation and has demanded a timetable for addressing it.
In an interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Face to Face, on Citi TV, Sammy Gyamfi attributed the intermittent power outages to issues inherited from successive governments. He emphasized that ‘dumsor’ was not initiated by John Dramani Mahama or the NDC.
He recalled instances of ‘dumsor’ during previous administrations and attributed the issue to a lack of investment in power generation to meet growing demand.
“Dumsor was not a creation of H.E Mahama and the NDC. Even before 2001, Ghana had recorded ‘dumsor’ in 1984, 1988, 1989 you recall. The infamous decision by President J.A Kufuor [former] to send pastors to Akosombo to pray in 2007 for rains to fall.
“We recorded ‘dumsor’ at the end of former presidents J.J. Rawlings and Kufuor terms. That problem was largely because successive governments had failed to make significant investments in increasing generation. In consonance with increasing demand.”
“If you look at where our generational capacity ought to have been in 2012, we were there as a country and that a collective failure we are all sharing. Even though this problem was an inherited problem, we didn’t go about making flimsy excuses. Mahama said he was the president the bucks stops with him. He took full responsibilities and promised to fix it.”

The Communications Director for the Dr Mahamudu Bawumia campaign team, Dennis Miracles Aboagye has insisted that some of the projects being paraded by the National Democratic Congress as being on the performance tracker are photoshopped.
He is of the view that the performance tracker is a novelty as it has afforded the people of Ghana the opportunity to track what the government has done in the last seven years and why they should be given another opportunity.
To Dennis Miracles Aboagye the tracker has helped kill the propaganda of the National Democratic Congress.
“This tool has killed one of the biggest propaganda the NDC kept peddling for years “NPP should show us one thing, they have done with our money.”

The Launch of the Performance Tracker has dazed the NDC and they have now resorted to needless rants and photoshopping images that are actually fake and not in the tracker.
This is one of the most progressive accountability tools any government has ever introduced. And it’s a state asset that needs to be protected, enhanced and ensure its sustainability beyond now.
Every Ghanaian everywhere and in every corner is being accounted to and this accountability has no end. It’s work in progress which is updated by the minute, hour and by the day.
Simply pick your phone, hit the web or open the app and search for your district or community.
This tool has killed one of the biggest propaganda the NDC kept peddling for years “NPP should show us one thing, they have done with our money”.
Today, we have shown you over 13,000 things and still counting. By the time the tracker is done updated, we should be hitting close to 20,000 “things”.
In doing that, we decided to account to everyone and not just the elite citizens and the 1st class neighborhoods. So the Airports for the 1st class citizens are being accounted for, the Asphalts for the plush neighbourhoods are being accounted for, the big hospitals are accounted for and similarly, the ChPs compounds, the boreholes and the KVIPs for the rural and small village folks are being accounted for. Every Ghanaian every where deserves accountability and that is our commitment as a government.
Talk of transparency, talk of accountability, talk of working with the people, this is one example and we need to be proud of ourselves as a people and country for how far with have come.
We can only improve from here.
@MBawumia promises to pursue this approach further and make it even better based on all the feedback and lessons learnt from here.
Slowly but steadily we shall Rise
You can check the tracker out here and verify for yourself.
Arsenal have failed to qualify for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup after bowing out of the Champions League following a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich.
Mikel Arteta’s side faced heartbreak in Germany after losing 3-2 on aggregate to Bundesliga side Bayern, ending their hopes of European success. Their departure from the tournament also means they fail to qualify for the Club World Cup in the United States.
Teams can qualify in one of two ways: by having won the Champions League since 2021, or via a ranking system of their performances in the tournament over four seasons.
Only two teams per country can qualify, unless a nation has three different UCL winners in the last four years. Therefore, Arsenal needed to win this year’s competition to join 2021 winners Chelsea and reigning champions Manchester City.

Their exit does, however, open up a spot for Red Bull Salzburg, who have played 26 Champions League games over the last four seasons.
Arsenal came close to European success in Germany, holding on to a 0-0 scoreline until a single goal in the 63rd minute from Joshua Kimmich secured Bayern a place in the semi-final.
The Bundesliga side will now face Real Madrid, who knocked out Pep Guardiola’s City at the Etihad on Wednesday evening.
The Gunners will be forced to set their sights on Premier League silverware as they fight to keep City from retaining their league title. Arsenal currently sit in second place, level on points with Liverpool but with a significant advantage in goal difference.
Arteta’s side return to action on Saturday when they travel to face Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Assistant football GOAT, Cristiano Ronaldo surprised his mother, Dolores Aveiro, with a brand-new Porsche Cayenne on New Year’s Eve in celebration of her 69th birthday.
Ronaldo, flew back to his hometown of Madeira to celebrate the special occasion and orchestrated a surprise that left his mother in tears of joy.
A video capturing the emotional moment has since circulated on social media, showcasing his mother’s genuine surprise and gratitude.
The luxury car was adorned with a massive red ribbon, tied in a bow. As Ronaldo’s mother approached the Porsche, she was visibly moved, struggling to hold back tears.
The emotional climax came when she embraced her grandson before taking her seat in the driver’s position for the first time.
The entire scene unfolded in a garage where Ronaldo’s family, including the football star himself, watched on with smiles and anticipation.
A member of the communications team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alfred Thompson, has said the former Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources should be tried in the court of public opinion.
He stated that it is extremely dangerous to try an accused in a court of public opinion because the facts may end up exonerating the person in the proper court system.
“We shouldn’t try the women in the court of public opinion,” he said on the Key Points on TV3 Saturday, January 20.
His comments come after the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) stated that its investigations so far indicate that the case borders on money laundering, which is outside its mandate.
“The case must now go to the Police and EOCO, they will have to work on it together,” he said on the Key Points on TV3 on Saturday, January 20.
The OPS had said it would, in due course, issue directives regarding the way forward on the Cecilia Dapaah case.
“The investigation shows that the case is largely in the province of suspected money laundering and structuring. By operation of law, there are other law enforcement agencies which are reposed with a direct mandate in respect of money laundering and structuring. On that score, the Special Prosecutor will issue directives and further action on the matter in due course,” portions of the second half-year report of the OSP dated December 29, 2023 read.
It would be recalled that in July 2023, the Office commenced investigation in respect of suspected corruption and corruption-related offences regarding large amounts of money (mainly in foreign denominations) and other valuable items involving Ms. Cecilia Abena Dapaah, a former Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources and her spouse, Mr. Daniel Osei-Kufour.
The investigation was largely aimed at determining the source(s) of the large cash sums. The Office took several steps including freezing Ms. Dapaah’s bank accounts and investments and seizing large sums from the residence of Ms. Dapaah and her spouse.
Upon the refusal by the High Court to confirm the freezing and seizure orders, the Office re-seized the cash sums and re-froze the bank accounts and investments and applied to the court again for confirmation in FT0074/2023 The Special Prosecutor v. Cecilia Abena Dapaah & Daniel Osei-Kufour.
From October 2023, the investigation became cross-border and transboundary upon the claim by the persons of interest that part of the seized cash sums was transported into the jurisdiction from the United States.
For that reason, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the United States became involved in a collaborative investigative work with the OSP on the matter. In October 2023, the Special Prosecutor revoked the freezing order in respect of five (5) bank accounts of Ms. Dapaah, which were eliminated from the focus of the investigation as no longer suspected to be tainted property.
Actress Ahuofe Patricia has been wearing her buzz hairstyle for about 11 years and one would perhaps think she’s been keeping this particular ‘do’ for this long just because she rocks it very well. Wrong!
The beautiful actress, who became popular for her comedy skits Boys Kasa with comedian Kalybos, has revealed the only reason she has kept the ultra-short hairdo for more than a decade is because she is too lazy to go to the hairdressing salon.
In an interview with Graphic , Ahoufe Patri, real name Priscilla Opoku Agyemang, said she knows she will look good in weave-ons, wigs and other hairstyles but the problem is that she just hasn’t got the time to sit in the salon to get her hair fixed.
“It’s just laziness. I feel lazy to do my hair. When I see women sport wigs, braids etc., I really admire them but the time to sit to get mine done is the problem. I would rather spend the time taking a good nap than fixing my hair,” she said.
Moving away from her 11-year-old hairstyle, Ahoufe Patri, who is in her early 30s, bemoaned the way Ghanaians tend to celebrate certain persons who are not deserving of attention.
Although she wouldn’t mention names, the actress, who buried her mother about a month ago, said “we sometimes celebrate mediocrity and I wonder why. There are so many individuals we celebrate in Ghana who we shouldn’t.
“You hear and see them insult people all over the place yet these are the people we celebrate. I don’t see the impact they have on society yet we celebrate and give them all the attention they don’t deserve. Sometimes, it hurts me so much but what can I do?” she said.
Touching on her relationship status, Ahoufe Patri, who didn’t disclose if she was single or in a relationship, however, said she loved to be pampered.
“I enjoy a lot of attention. Most women love it too but I think mine is on another level. I want my man to shower me with all the attention in the world,” she said beaming with smiles.
She has featured in movies such as Amakye and Dede, Kalybos In China, John and John, comedy skit, Boys Kasa and TV series Cocoa Brown.

Bolgatanga, Aug. 9, GNA – Some supporters of the Vice President, Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia have inaugurated a Unit dubbed ‘Rapid Response Unit’ (RRU) for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia (DMB) in the Upper East Region to galvanise votes for him.
The RRU for DMB, made of grassroots members of the NPP, share and identify with the Vice President’s vision, mission, value and leadership styles and were expected to facilitate friendly activities for Dr Bawumia’s victory in the Presidential primaries.
At the inaugural ceremony in Bolgatanga, Mr Filson Awankua, the Convenor of the RRU for DMB, said the group’s name was carved from the agile principles and methodologies that applied technology to fast-track resolution of problems in tandem with Dr Bawumia’s vision of digitization.
“It’s the determination and good will of the Unit to deploy all available arsenal, strategies and resources to ensure the actualization of its dream,” he said.
Mr Awankua said the Unit would prosecute its activities and programmes with all stakeholders to project the name of the Vice President in the Region.
“You can be assured that every house, doors, market, traditional areas, clans, community, constituency, media engagement will not be left untapped to create positive impacts. We shall do everything to extol the virtues of our candidate,” he said.
The Convenor said the RRU for DMB would periodically churn out “pure, factual and positive messages with rapid response technologies and systems.
“This is because we are motivated by the sincere and sterling leadership qualities of the Vice President. His honesty, incorruptibility, sacrifice and perseverance, leadership style requires the support of all, and we are ready,” he said.
Mr Stephen Yakubu, the Regional Minister, urged members of the group to adhere to their core mandate and ensure they campaigned rigorously for the Vice President to win the primaries and lead them into the 2024 general elections.
He expressed concern that the NPP had only one seat in the Region and encouraged supporters of the Party to work hard to ensure they won more seats in the 2024 elections, saying “The Future of this country depends on the NPP winning 2024.”
The Regional Minister said the NPP paid critical attention to the welfare of northerners than any other Party, and often rewarded hard work, “This Party pays for hard work, so let us work to ensure we retain power.”
The programme was attended by the immediate past Regional Minister, Madam Tangoba Abayage, Municipal and District Chief Executives, and some Regional and Constituency executives.
