Mother of
Marilyn Monroe. Gladys left her husband Martin Mortensen 4 months after their wedding. However, as they were still married when Marilyn was born, he is recognized as her legal father (he is named the father on her birth certificate). Biographers believe Charles Stanley Gifford (1898-1965), a salesman for Consolidated Films, where Gladys worked, is Marilyn's father. Mortensen divorced Gladys when "their child" was 26 months old. He nor Gifford played any part in Marilyn's life.
