- DirectorAlejandro G. IñárrituStarsMichael KeatonZach GalifianakisEdward NortonA washed-up superhero actor attempts to revive his fading career by writing, directing, and starring in a Broadway production.Definitely Slejandro G. Iñárritu's best movie, and definitely the best movie of the year.
It's one of those movies that other works will be compared to for a long time to come - DirectorChristopher NolanStarsMatthew McConaugheyAnne HathawayJessica ChastainWhen Earth becomes uninhabitable in the future, a farmer and ex-NASA pilot, Joseph Cooper, is tasked to pilot a spacecraft, along with a team of researchers, to find a new planet for humans. Some are calling it the most overrated movie of the year, be that as it may, I think Chris Nolan's space adventure is his best directing effort, He (and the movie) deserve great recognition for it.
And as a matter of fact, I think his previous 2 movies are way more overrated than Interstellar. - DirectorChad StahelskiStarsKeanu ReevesMichael NyqvistAlfie AllenJohn Wick is a former hitman grieving the loss of his true love. When his home is broken into, robbed, and his dog killed, he is forced to return to action to exact revenge. The movie that gave me the most for my money, this flick is unbelievably entertaining. And YES I want it franchised.
- DirectorWes AndersonStarsRalph FiennesF. Murray AbrahamMathieu AmalricA writer encounters the owner of an aging high-class hotel, who tells him of his early years serving as a lobby boy in the hotel's glorious years under an exceptional concierge. Is this Wes Anderson's best work yet?
This is the movie where Anderson's visual style is most visible, yet most seamless, it just works with the story.
If Wes is ever going to quit his landmark technique, it should be now (not that he should). - DirectorPhil LordChristopher MillerStarsChris PrattWill FerrellElizabeth BanksAn ordinary LEGO construction worker, thought to be the prophesied as "special", is recruited to join a quest to stop an evil tyrant from gluing the LEGO universe into eternal stasis.I took my daughters to this one, I enjoyed more than they did, granted it is probably aimed at an age a little older than my kids, still, great entertainment with family and political sub layers. The Lego Movie completely blew me away. Besides, it features the best Batman of all motion media.
- DirectorRichard LinklaterStarsEllar ColtranePatricia ArquetteEthan HawkeThe life of Mason, from early childhood to his arrival at college.Director Richard Linklater approaches this 12 years epic saga in perhaps the most seamless way possible. the movie flows right through you without the cinematic persistence of grand designs, cinematography, effects or overblown acting, and succeeds incredibly.
- DirectorDoug LimanStarsTom CruiseEmily BluntBill PaxtonA soldier fighting aliens gets to relive the same day over and over again, the day restarting every time he dies. You've heard it before, you'll hear it ere again, this movie didn't get the success it deserved, the stars were positioned most inappropriately for this one. great flick
- DirectorDamien ChazelleStarsMiles TellerJ.K. SimmonsMelissa BenoistA promising young drummer enrolls at a cut-throat music conservatory where his dreams of greatness are mentored by an instructor who will stop at nothing to realize a student's potential.30 years old director Damien Chazelle proves that age is not necessarily relevant to experience. Great musical with great performances and awesome Jazz
- DirectorBryan SingerStarsPatrick StewartIan McKellenHugh JackmanThe X-Men send Wolverine to the past in a desperate effort to change history and prevent an event that results in doom for both humans and mutants. As good as X2
- DirectorJames GunnStarsChris PrattVin DieselBradley CooperA group of intergalactic criminals must pull together to stop a fanatical warrior with plans to purge the universe.Could very well be the most entertaining movie by Marvel/Disney
- DirectorMichael SpierigPeter SpierigStarsEthan HawkeSarah SnookNoah TaylorAs his last assignment, a temporal agent is tasked to travel back in time and prevent a bomb attack in New York in 1975. The hunt, however, turns out to be beyond the bounds of possibility.Every year, there are good )or great) movies that don't get the attention they deserve. This year is no exception.
In my personal opinion, this is by far, this year's most underrated movie, it flew under everyone's radar and no one heard about it.
It's about time travel, if the subject intrigues you, do yourself a favor and watch this movie, and don't watch any trailers. - DirectorGareth EvansStarsIko UwaisYayan RuhianArifin PutraOnly a short time after the first raid, Rama goes undercover with the thugs of Jakarta and plans to bring down the syndicate and uncover the corruption within his police force.Berandal didn't have the element of surprise Redemption enjoyed, so it probably won't blow you away as much as the first one, still, a worthy sequel. Besides........Hammer Girl!
- DirectorDon HallChris WilliamsStarsRyan PotterScott AdsitJamie ChungA special bond develops between plus-sized inflatable robot Baymax and prodigy Hiro Hamada, who together team up with a group of friends to form a band of high-tech heroes.I took my daughters for this movie, I enjoyed it as much as they did
- DirectorMorten TyldumStarsBenedict CumberbatchKeira KnightleyMatthew GoodeDuring World War II, the English mathematical genius Alan Turing tries to crack the German Enigma code with help from fellow mathematicians while attempting to come to terms with his troubled private life.while "The Theory of Everything" gained more attention, probably because it portrayed a more person that is more famous nowadays, and had a best lead actor Oscar. The best movie about a British math genius who changed the game in 2014 is definitely this one.
- DirectorDavid FincherStarsBen AffleckRosamund PikeNeil Patrick HarrisThe husband of a missing woman becomes the chief suspect in her disappearance.Entertaining and pretty well done
- DirectorTomm MooreStarsDavid RawleBrendan GleesonLisa HanniganBen, a young Irish boy, and his little sister Saoirse, a girl who can turn into a seal, go on an adventure to free the fairies and save the spirit world.Me and my wife loved this movie, but the fact that my little girls completely fell in love with this movie fills me with joy. If you have kids, show them this movie, it is not only genuinely good, it will help them learn to appreciate and understand non mainstream art.
- DirectorJosh BooneStarsShailene WoodleyAnsel ElgortNat WolffHazel and Gus are teenagers who meet at a cancer support group and fall in love. They both share the same acerbic wit and a love of books, especially "An Imperial Affliction", so they embark on a journey to visit an author in Amsterdam.I most definitely did not think this movie would end up on this list before i saw it, it's beautifully sad, of course its teenage material, but it communicates so well, and its very well executed.
- DirectorRamin BahraniStarsAndrew GarfieldMichael ShannonLaura DernA recently unemployed single father struggles to get back his foreclosed home by working for the real estate broker who is the source of his frustration.
