Rupert Grint, widely recognized for his portrayal of Ron Weasley in the beloved Harry Potter series, has found himself facing a significant financial setback.
Rupert Grint has been ordered to pay £1.8 million ($2.3 million) following the resolution of a prolonged legal battle with Hm Revenue and Customs (Hmrc), the United Kingdom’s tax authority.
The Root Of The Dispute
This hefty bill stems from a dispute over the classification of £4.5 million in earnings from residuals linked to the Harry Potter series.
These residuals — encompassing income from DVD sales, television syndication, streaming rights, and other royalties — were initially categorized by Grint as a capital asset, a classification subject to a lower tax rate.
However, Hmrc contended that these funds should have been reported as income, which carries a significantly higher tax obligation.
In 2019, Hmrc ordered Grint to pay the disputed sum. The actor’s legal team subsequently launched an appeal, disputing the tax authority’s stance.

Nicolas Cage as Superman in Superman Lives ( Photo Credit – Wikimedia )
Nicolas Cage as Superman? Yep, it happened—well, kind of. DC fans watching The Flash got a wild multiverse cameo of Cage battling a massive alien spider as Clark Kent himself. But here’s the twist: Cage’s Superman dream wasn’t just a random CGI throw-in. It was a callback to Hollywood’s most prominent “what-if” stories.
In the late ‘90s, Cage was set to wear the red cape in Superman Lives, a Tim Burton-led reboot that could’ve redefined the Man of Steel. The movie had Cage rocking samurai-style long hair as a darker, emo-ish Superman. Think moody, broody, and not your classic Clark Kent. Kevin Smith wrote the script, Jon Peters produced, and Burton was fresh off Batman and Batman Returns. Everything seemed primed for a super comeback—until it wasn’t.

As a born and raised Pennsylvanian — a Philadelphian, to be specific, go birds — I think I know a little something about what makes this state pretty great. With two major cities on either end of the Keystone State and a whole bunch of cows (I assume) and Harrisburg in the middle, it's no surprise that a lot of good movies are set in Pennsylvania ... so which are the best of the best?
A few disclaimers to start: the movies have to be set in Pennsylvania for the majority of the run time and prominently feature major or at least recognizable landmarks. Thanks to the former, "National Treasure" doesn't make the list, despite the fact that Nicolas Cage sure does steal the Declaration of Independence; prestige picks like "The Deer Hunter" don't really deal with the Pennsylvania of it all if you're using the latter as a metric. Frankly, it was...

Whether it be by utter obliteration, acts of deities and demons, or merely the ruination of the environment for human habitation, the world's end has fascinated filmmakers for as long as special effects have allowed it to be visualized. In general, audiences are drawn to see such mass destruction at a fictional remove as well, though some tales of the end times can hit a bit too close to home to feel good as escapism.
Not every movie on this list actually depicts the end, but they all, in some way, reckon with it. What do the characters do with their imminent fate? What would you do? Most of these films ask the questions; others might use the demise of the globe as a surprise twist. As such, we must warn that there are spoilers below, if discussing the individual approach to world-ending developments necessitates them. In most cases, you...

Hollywood is not only the birthplace of entertainment and thrill but is also synonymous with glamour, beauty, and iconic red carpet looks. Since the inception of the film industry and entertainment, makeup and beauty have been two of the defining features of the world, ruled by unhealthy social norms and expectations. However, in contemporary times figures have emerged who have challenged these features and outright dismissed them. And Pamela Anderson has become the flagbearer of such a movement in recent times.

Known for her bombshell blonde hair, smokey-eye glamorous looks, and pencil-thin eyebrows, the Baywatch star has long been celebrated for her striking features and iconic looks. Yet, the actress has turned a new leaf as she has kick-started the ‘no-makeup revolution.’ Since the last year or two, the actress has ditched makeup and embraced her natural self, taking a bold step in defining beauty.

Almost thirty years ago, the world was shocked to learn about the death of the six-year-old child beauty pageant queen JonBenét Ramsey. The child was initially found missing, with a ransom note received by the Ramsey family. However, after a second search of the house, the girl was found dead in the basement of the house.

Knowing how passionate fans can be, Mendes did her homework and realized she didn’t exactly look like Roxanne from the comics. So, she made sure to handle the role with “extra” care.
How Eva Mendes Made Roxanne Simpson Her Own in Ghost Rider
Roxanne Simpson, in the comics, is the epitome of a classic blonde bombshell, 5’8”, slender at 115 pounds, with mesmerizing blue eyes and luscious strawberry-blonde hair. Eva Mendes, a Cuban-American actress with naturally dark hair, knew fans might raise eyebrows seeing her bring this beloved character to life in Ghost Rider.

The action film had stars John Travolta and Nicolas Cage switching identities, each getting to play each other’s character for part of the movie. Oscar-winning indie studio Neon has secured a new $200 million credit facility, flushing the company with cash for operations and growth.
The infusion, which could keep “Anora” star Mikey Madison in lucite platform heels until the end of time, is led by Neon’s existing credit provider Comerica Bank. The raise will contribute to film acquisition, development, production, distribution and market expansion, Neon said Monday.
“Comerica believes in the vision of Neon and couldn’t be more thrilled to support their continued growth. Their ability to identify and curate film, while finding innovative ways to connect audiences with cinema, is unmatched,” said Comerica Entertainment Group SVP Derek Riedel, adding that the “independent film landscape is a core pillar of our business and we are excited about the future.”
Riedel oversaw the transaction for the bank, with Neon chief financial officer Ryan Friscia negotiating on the studio side.

Bridget Fonda is the daughter of Peter Fonda, the granddaughter of Henry Fonda, and the niece of Jane Fonda, so it only seemed natural that she would become an actor. She started appearing on stage as a girl and appeared in "Easy Rider" with her father when she was only five years old.
Fonda would go on to study method acting at the famed Lee Strassberg Theater. She started appearing in films only two years after graduating at NYU. Acting was in her blood and it seemed like she never considered doing anything else. From 1988 to 2002, Fonda appeared in dozens of high-profile Hollywood films, and was nominated for two Golden Globes and an Emmy. She retired unexpectedly in 2002 and hasn't been seen on screen since. Throughout the 1990s, however, Fonda was something of a cinematic "It" girl, appearing in raucous comedies, dramatic indies, intense crime films, and a few of Sam Raimi's productions.

Few masters can span six decades in the spotlight. Yet Ridley Scott has never been a normal filmmaker. A wunderkind and prodigy, Scott broke into the mainstream in the mid-1970s, coming out of the gate with some of the best films in history. Even his “failures” have been reworked, allowing Scott to rewrite his own history in the process. There may not be a better “Director’s cut” filmography around, and Scott’s legend only continues to grow with time. His return to the Colosseum in Gladiator II has rightfully caused a moment of retrospection for the icon. Below are ten of his best features, which becomes a difficult exercise with a filmography as deep as Scott’s.
10. Matchstick Men (2003)
Nicolas Cage often plays to the rafters, but Matchstick Men proved that Cage could play a man with disorders without turning them into a cartoon. Despite playing a man...

Director Panos Cosmatos’ revenge film Mandy quickly gained a devoted cult following when it was released back in 2018 – and one member of the Mandy cult is singer/songwriter Miley Cyrus, who is such a fan of the movie that she not only named one of her dogs after it, but she even contacted Cosmatos about collaborating on a musical remake of the film! If this musical remake had gone forward, Cyrus was wanting to play the character who was first brought to life by Nicolas Cage.
Set in the primal wilderness of an apocalyptic 1983, Mandy has the following synopsis: The quiet life of devoted couple Red (Nicolas Cage) and Mandy (Andrea Riseborough) takes a dark and bizarre turn when a nightmarish cult and their maniacal leader (Linus Roache) seek to possess Mandy… body and soul. A shocking assault on the innocent pair leads to a spiraling, surreal, bloody rampage of all out,...

Vertigo Releasing has acquired U.K. and Ireland distribution rights to “The Kingdom,” directed by Corsican filmmaker Julien Colonna. The organized crime thriller and coming-of-age drama is set for theatrical release in spring 2025.
The film, which bowed in the Un Certain Regard strand at Cannes, centers on a teenage girl named Lesia who discovers her father, a crime boss, hiding out at a remote villa with his clan. Set against the backdrop of Corsica in 1995, the narrative follows the father-daughter pair as they’re forced to flee when violence erupts in the criminal underworld.
The picture introduces newcomers Ghjuvanna Benedetti and Saveriu Santucci in the lead roles of daughter and father, respectively, with the production featuring a predominantly Corsican ensemble cast.
Reviewing the film at Cannes for Variety, critic Peter Debruge wrote: “In his sure-handed and chilling first narrative feature, director Julien Colonna examines the personal cost of the gangster...

Count musical artist and pop star Miley Cyrus as a major fan of Panos Cosmatos’ Mandy. So much so that she revealed in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar that she wanted to remake the movie as a musical and star as Nicolas Cage’s character.
The artist considers the film one of her all-time favorites, so much so that she shared that she also named her dog after the title character.
Nicolas Cage played Red Miller in Mandy. In the film, “Pacific Northwest. 1983 Ad. Outsiders Red Miller and Mandy Bloom lead a loving and peaceful existence. When their pine-scented haven is savagely destroyed by a cult led by the sadistic Jeremiah Sand, Red is catapulted into a phantasmagoric journey filled with bloody vengeance and laced with fire.”

There has been no shortage of thoughts on the effects of artificial intelligence, with the most notable names in Hollywood – we’re talking James Cameron, Guillermo del Toro, Nicolas Cage, Robert Downey Jr., etc. etc. – giving their opinions and predictions on just where it could lead the industry. Now we can add Ben Affleck to the conversation, as the actor/director/you name it at this point recently gave his thoughts on both the limitations and dangers of AI.
Speaking at CNBC’s Delivering Alpha Summit (via The Hollywood Reporter), Ben Affleck took the stance that certain parts of the film industry will be safe from the harm of artificial intelligence for a while because, unlike monkeys with all the time in the world, it can never actually reproduce works of brilliance. “Movies will be one of the last things, if everything gets replaced, to be replaced by AI. Image Source: Walt Disney Pictures It was 20 years ago that Nicolas Cage assembled his band of explorers to find National Treasure for the first time. The film, of course, was a big hit, spawning both a sequel and a TV series. Now, rumors are once again picking up that there could be a third National Treasure movie made, though we’re not about to count any proverbial chickens before they’ve hatched. In the meantime, the anniversary marks an ideal opportunity to revisit the original films. At the time of its release, Cage told us it was important to make National Treasure a movie that kids could enjoy. Exclusive: David Dastmalchian (Late Night with the Devil), Ashley Greene (Twilight), and newcomer Samantha Cochran will topline The Cure, a horror thriller from director Nancy Leopardi that has wrapped production in Los Angeles.
Written by Jonathan Bernstein and James Greer, who penned Steven Soderbergh’s Unsane, the film centers on Cochran’s Ally Braun, an adopted 16-year-old with a mysterious illness who learns her bio-tech billionaire parents (Dastmalchian and Greene) are harvesting her blood for nefarious purposes.
In a statement to Deadline, Leopardi called the film “a satirical take on the modern billionaire class cloaked in a crowd-pleasing thriller,” adding, “The Cure is made in the tradition of classic horror and sci-fi films that are inspired by terrifying socio-political realities and advances in bio-technology. Like Ex-Machina, A.I., and Videodrome I believe we are on the cusp of a revolution in science and the big question is – who will benefit?”

2024 is nearly over and while we have seen some brilliant horror films come out this year I don’t think it has been such a great year for the genre. With most horror films flopping at the box office and the dreaded Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey sequel coming out it all felt wrong. But don’t worry because I have picked out the 18 best horror films that have come out this year. I haven’t ranked the films in the article and I will update the list as more films come out.

Movies are empathy machines, as Roger Ebert once wrote. The best films allow us to experience emotions we may not have felt otherwise through a particular character’s story. But some movies conjure emotions that we’re actively seeking out. Happiness. Joy. Love. We call these “feel-good movies.” Everybody has their go-to stable of films they return to over and over again when they need a boost — or maybe just an escape.
If you’re looking to expand your horizons beyond whatever’s streaming on Netflix, or if you just need a pick-me-up Asap, we’ve got you covered. Below, we’ve assembled a list of some of the best feel-good movies to watch when you’re feeling down.

Nicolas Cage is unrecognizable as the title character in the horror movie Longlegs. Key special effects makeup artist Felix Fox and Harlow Macfarlane worked 2½ hours every day to transform Cage into the satanic serial killer.
“There was about four designs,” Fox said. “What they settled on after we tested on was that we would go a little bit more extreme.”
Fox said the original concepts were less pale white and less cosmetically altered. The final Longlegs pays homage to Lon Chaney’s Phantom of the Opera, she said. Furthermore, they had to age Longlegs from the 1970s to the ‘90s.
“He has two looks for it,” Fox continued. “One is the ‘70s and one is with more of the beauty makeup, a little bit of blue eyeshadow.”

K-pop may have dominated Billboard’s global charts for much of the year – Rosé and Bruno Mars’ ‘Apt.‘ is literally on top of the Billboard Global Songs Chart right now – but they didn’t even manage to make a dent on this year’s Grammy nominations list.
The Grammy Awards nominations list shocked many when it was released on Nov. 8. For the second consecutive year, no K-pop act was recognized in any of the categories.
Should the 2024 Grammys Make A Separate Category For K-pop?
Even though BTS received nominations at the prestigious awards show for three years in a row, from 2021 to 2023, it didn’t exactly pave the way for other K-pop acts to shine.

How Did Jim Carrey React When He Was Told He Had 10 Minutes To Live? (Photo Credit – Amazon)
January 2018 was supposed to be just another day for Jim Carrey in Hawaii. But when his assistant FaceTimed him with an urgent message—”There are missiles coming, and they’re going to land in 10 minutes”—the actor had no idea his life would soon blend with the absurd.
With panic spreading across the island and people scrambling for safety, Carrey was suddenly forced to confront mortality. Yet, his reaction was strangely calm. “It was more a wave of calm coming over me,” he said. “A sense of ‘Oh, that’s strange. Huh, what a funny way for this all to end.'” His FaceTime call, where he sat in the face of imminent doom, became the iconic cover of his semi-autobiographical book Memoirs and Misinformation.

The first "Paddington" movie arrived with low expectations, first after Colin Firth departed the titular role, and later when the first trailers threatened a "Sonic the Hedgehog" level CGI monstrosity. And yet, that movie won audiences over, before director Paul King delivered a sequel that is a perfect movie by every metric as subjective as a Rotten Tomatoes score, or as objective as the word of Nicolas Cage.
Unfortunately, it seems that when King decided to make "Wonka" instead of another "Paddington" movie, he took all the magic with him, leaving only a "story by" credit for newcomer Dougal Wilson (in his feature directorial debut) and his cohort of writers to pick up. Wilson's task of following a masterpiece despite the loss of the original creator and one of the main stars of the film, was impossible. With a slew of excellent, critically acclaimed horror films in 2024, could awards bodies finally give them more consideration? A few thoughts.
Toni Collette in Hereditary. Jack Nicholson in The Shining. Elisabeth Moss in The Invisible Man. Mia Goth in Pearl. Christian Bale in American Psycho. Florence Pugh in Midsommar.
Horror films have long produced some fine, memorable performances, but they rarely tend to break through into the awards conversation. Or even if they’re talked about, they’re usually doomed to receive no love from the awards bodies themselves.
Why? Great question, and one that probably doesn’t have a simple answer. In general, horror films have been seen as trashy, low-brow forms of entertainment despite their long history of tackling social issues amid all the blood and guts. It’s only recently, with the rise of so-called “elevated horror” – anyone else hate that term? – that the genre’s reputation has started to slowly change.

Robert Pattinson has come quite far since his role in the Twilight movies, which, to be fair, was one of his worst acting jobs. Throughout the four films, Pattinson’s performance progressively worsened. However, he did not have much to go on with the vampire character. Pattinson proved to be a performer in films like The Childhood of a Leader, Good Time, and The Lighthouse.

Pattinson was not a fan-favorite when he was cast in the role of Batman. However, he surprised fans with his darker take on the character, something Matt Reeves also got credit for. The film has now set a major benchmark that James Gunn will have to surpass with his Dcu film, The Brave and the Bold. However, Pattinson’s upcoming projects seem to have more promise than his role as the Dark Knight.

Spoiler Alert: This article contains major spoilers from the Season 1 finale and Season 2 premiere of “Bad Sisters,” now streaming on Apple TV+.
“Bad Sisters” was never supposed to return for a second season. The Sharon Horgan-penned thriller, an adaptation of a Belgian limited series about a group of sisters who attempt to murder their abusive brother-in-law, didn’t obviously lend itself to a returning format. But the chemistry among the Garvey sisters in the Apple TV+ version — played by Horgan (as Eve), Sarah Greene (as Bibi), Eva Birthistle (as Ursula), Eve Hewson (as Becka) and Anne-Marie Duff (as the abused Grace) — left audiences begging for more.
Horgan, who has written and starred in shows such as “Catastrophe” and “Pulling” (as well as appearing opposite Nicolas Cage in 2022 feature “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent”), admits she had a “germ” of an idea for where the story might go while...

Legacy characters have become a common feature in superhero movies. Some examples, like Spider-Man: No Way Home, have been big hits, while others, like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, were less successful.
The next MCU films expected to feature many legacy characters are Avengers: Doomsday (coming in 2026) and Avengers: Secret Wars (coming in 2027). However, with over 50 characters rumored to appear in Secret Wars, it’s hard to know which of these rumors are actually true.
Alex Perez from Cosmic Circus recently reported that Marvel is considering including All legacy characters in Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars. This came up during his November Ama, and Perez is known for his reliable track record with leaks and scoops.

Legacy characters are nothing new in superhero releases. Some examples of this practice have been extremely successful like ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home.’ Some have been less successful as was the case with ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.’
The next MCU projects rumored to include plenty of legacy characters are ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ set for a 2026 release and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ set for a 2027 release. Keep in mind that there are already over 50 characters rumored to appear in ‘Secret Wars’ which really doesn’t help the credibility of all those vast rumors and reports.
Cosmic Circus’ Alex Perez however now reports that there have been talks to include All legacy characters. This was said during his November Ama, keep in mind that Perez is highly reliable and has a solid track record when it comes to scoops and leaks.

Sony and Amazon/MGM's Spider-Noir series appears to be taking some major liberties with the source material, but given how obscure this Variant of the web-slinger is, does it really matter if "Ben Reilly" is beneath the mask instead of Peter Parker?
That's debatable; regardless, Sony appears to be ignoring the fact Ben is Peter's clone and we don't anticipate that being addressed in any way when Spider-Noir swings on to streaming next year.
Today, we have some new photos from the TV show's set (via Just Jared) showcasing Nicolas Cage's private eye. We've already seen that the series will feature a comic-accurate superhero costume and Cage unquestionably looks the part of "Ben" in these snaps.
Earlier this year, Cage opened up on what led to him reprising a role he first played in the animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Emilio Estevez made his big screen debut at the age of 11 in the film "Badlands," Terrence Malick's mood drama starring Emilio's father Ramón Estévez, who was better known by his screen name Martin Sheen. When Emilio was 14, he flew with his father to the Philippines for another film shoot. Sheen was playing the lead role in Francis Ford Coppola's "Apocalypse Now," and the young Emilio was hired to appear as an extra. Sadly, his scenes were cut, but Estevez was inspired by his experience to write a play called "Echoes of an Era," and perform in the lead role. He was officially an actor like his father.
After graduating high school, Estevez eschewed college and entered show business. What followed was a decades-long and prolific career that brought him into the center of the Hollywood mainstream. In the 1980s, Estevez was part of a generation of rising actors...

One of the biggest, if not the biggest K-pop labels, Hybe, has found itself suffering a series of scandals that have worked to expose the corrupt inner shell to its shiny exterior. You may know Hybe as the label that brought BTS – arguably the biggest K-pop group right now – to the world.
In recent times, controversies and scandals have ripped it open for the rest of the world to see the systemic exploitation, financial manipulation, and legal conflicts going on beneath the surface. Overworking K-pop stars and having inhuman expectations of them is also one of the big things that the company needs to address internally.

Every year of late seems to be a great year for horror, so it's hardly a surprise that 2024 is holding its own in the scares department. As has been the case with the genre, the fun of this year's terror pictures have been how they attack our fears from unexpected angles while placing fresh spins on seemingly hoary forms. Think you're totally checked out on slasher flicks? Here's Chris Nash's "In a Violent Nature" to pull you back in. Feel like the serial killer procedural has aped "The Silence of the Lambs" into hideous self-parody? Oz Perkins has a little number called "Longlegs" that injects that formula with an unsettlingly atmospheric and just plain bizarre energy (that last element coming courtesy of Nicolas Cage who wanders through the film shrieking like a banshee). Done with vampires? The "Ready or Not" duo of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett have a...
