Actor Nicolas Cage has been sued by his ex-wife following their adult son’s physical attack on her last year.

Christina Fulton, 57, claimed that Cage had ignored signs of mental health issues in their son, Weston Coppola Cage, 34, and enabled Weston’s emotional ramp-up to the incident. She is suing Cage, 61, for negligence and Weston for assault and battery.

Weston has pleaded not guilty to both charges. An attorney for Cage responded, “The allegations by Christina Fulton against Nicolas Cage are absurd and frivolous…Mr. Cage does not control Weston’s behavior in any manner and is not responsible for Weston’s alleged assault of his mother.”

The physical altercation between Fulton and Weston occurred on April 28, 2024. Fulton chalked up her son’s behavior to a “mental health crisis,” saying she received multiple emergency texts from Weston’s friends. When she arrived, Weston assaulted her multiple times in a “manic rage,...

Osgood Perkins has guts – literally and metaphorically. The filmmaker knew it wouldn’t work to be precious when adapting “The Monkey,” a short story by Stephen King, hitting theaters Friday. So Perkins held nothing back. “You can’t worry about offending an audience; you can’t focus on honoring it too closely,” he notes. “There’s no pandering going on. There’s no timid storytelling. You have to have the guts to execute it.” He means it physically as well — his effects artists developed objects referred to as “guts cannons” and trucks loaded full of blood to kill people in increasingly gory and creative ways.

Marvel Studios isn’t the only one with a movie kicking off summer on May 2 with Thunderbolts*: Lionsgate has just added Joe Carnahan’s Shadow Force to that weekend.

The pic starring Kerry Washington and Omar Sy follows the duo who once were the leaders of a multinational special forces group called Shadow Force. They broke the rules by falling in love and go underground in order to protect their son. With a large bounty on their heads, and the vengeful Shadow Force hot on their trail, one family’s fight becomes all-out war. Carnahan co-wrote the script with Leon Chills.

The pic also stars Mark Strong, Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Cliff “Method Man” Smith. Washington produces with Pilar Savone, Stephen “Dr.” Love and Sterling K. Brown.

Osgood Perkins may be the most quietly unpredictable Hollywood filmmaker working today. Think about it: Prior to 2024, he was a respected if low-profile indie horror director, making his name with singularly dread-filled, offbeat films like "The Blackcoat's Daughter" and "I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House." Prior to that, he was a character actor, turning up in supporting roles in films as varied as "Legally Blonde," "Secretary," and 2009's "Star Trek." Even the film that was supposed to be his big A24 horror movie debut, 2020's "Gretel & Hansel," got swallowed up by the Covid-19 pandemic, meaning he was still more of an underground favorite by the time his masterpiece, "Longlegs," was ready to debut.

When that movie blew up the box office last year (thanks in large part to a fantastically effective marketing campaign along with a signature performance from star Nicolas Cage), Perkins seemed to have finally arrived.

Weston Cage‘s legal team is speaking out in response to the lawsuit that his mom Christina Fulton filed against him and his dad Nicolas Cage.

Christina filed a lawsuit for “catastrophic physical, emotional and economic harm she has endured due to an unprovoked attack by their son, Weston,” per The Los Angeles Times.

Weston allegedly attacked Christina in April 2024 when she went to visit him following “urgent messages from his friends regarding his deteriorating mental state.” She claims the supposed altercation caused her “a concussion, an eye injury, multiple bruises, neck and throat injuries, dental trauma, tinnitus, abdominal trauma and Ptsd.”

Nicolas has been accused of enabling Weston‘s behavior by supporting him financially and “turning a blind eye” to his alleged violence.

Nicolas Cage‘s ex girlfriend, Christina Fulton, is suing him and his son, Weston Cage, for an alleged assault that took place in April 2024.

Christina, 57, who dated the 61-year-old actor from 1988 to 1991, and they share their son Weston, 34. She filed a lawsuit for “catastrophic physical, emotional and economic harm she has endured due to an unprovoked attack by their son, Weston,” per The Los Angeles Times.

We probably don’t need to tell you that Nicolas Cage has led an eventful personal life over the years.

But the eccentric screen legend’s latest legal drama stems not from his actions, but rather from those of his troubled son Weston.

Back in April of 2024, Weston was arrested for assaulting his own mother, Christina Fulton. It was not his first arrest on domestic violence charges.

Now, Fulton has filed lawsuits against both Weston and Nic, claiming that the latter enables his son and brings out the 34-year-old’s worst tendencies.

Last year, Osgood Perkins’s oddity Longlegs captured horror fans’ attention. The Nicolas Cage-starring thriller earned plenty of fans from critics and audiences alike. And now, Perkins has returned with one of the wackiest splatter flicks you’re likely to see in cinema. The Monkey is an adaptation of Stephen King’s short story. The film offers Theo James, Christian Convery, and Colin O’Brien the chance to play twin brothers. It also features a fine performance from Rohan Campbell, the star of Halloween Ends. Looking for a return to over-the-top and blood-soaked shenanigans in horror? The Monkey will hit the right beats.

Recently, I had the great pleasure of chatting with some of the stars of The Monkey. Stepping into the room to speak to Theo James and Osgood Perkins, I offered a little nostalgia for Osgood. My first job in Los Angeles was at a record/video store.

Nicolas Cage has spoken out after his ex Christina Fulton accused him of enabling their son’s bad behavior, which ultimately led to 34-year-old Weston Coppola Cage allegedly assaulting her.

“The allegations by Christina Fulton against Nicolas Cage are absurd and frivolous,” the actor’s lawyer told TheWrap in a Thursday statement. “Weston Coppola is a 34-year-old man. Mr. Cage does not control Weston’s behavior in any manner and is not responsible for Weston’s alleged assault of his mother.”

Cage’s commentary comes after Fulton sued him and their son on Wednesday for their respective roles in an April 2024 incident that turned physical. Last July, Weston was arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon after what she called a “mental-health crisis.”

In her lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court and obtained by TheWrap, Fulton claims Weston has “a history of committing violent assault and battery and harming numerous individuals.

While filming the 1988 black horror comedy Vampire’s Kiss, Nicolas Cage made a bold (and stomach-turning) decision. His character, Peter Loew, a delusional literary critic who believed he was a vampire, originally had a scene where he was supposed to eat a raw egg. But Cage had other ideas. “I thought eating a cockroach would be more effective,” he told Yahoo Entertainment. “I’ll never do that again. I’m sorry I did it at all.”

Whenever a Stephen King horror movie surfaces, one can expect the maestro to share his feelings on the subject. In the ’70s and early ’80s, perhaps the only thing that Stephen King liked more than a child with a psychic gift/curse was an inanimate object that becomes possessed by evil. A car, HGVs and even a laundry press lurched into life to wreak destruction, and all of these mechanical menaces made their inexorable way from page to screen, directed by John Carpenter (Christine), King himself and Tobe Hooper (The Mangler).

The Monkey, first published by Gallery magazine in 1980 and revised to feature in King’s 1985 collection of short stories Skeleton Crew, located genuine revulsion and terror in a wind-up toy. Eyes shining with “idiot glee” and lips pulled back in a “carnivorous” grin, the hirsute curio shuddered to life to clap its cymbals… and Death danced. The monkey was, in short, evil incarnate.

Can you blame Oz Perkins for feeling cursed? The eldest son of Hollywood icon Anthony Perkins, the actor turned director lost his famously closeted father at an early age to AIDS. Less than a decade later, his mother, actress and model Berry Berenson, perished aboard American Airlines Flight 11 during the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Well acquainted with death and its cruelest deprivations, Perkins’s work is in conversation with itself on the nature of trauma as inheritance, from his boarding school-set debut feature, The Blackcoat’s Daughter, to Longlegs, in which Nicolas Cage’s serial killer functions as an agent of the chaos wrought by parental malfeasance. Director Uwe Boll has launched production on his latest film, a vigilante drama tentatively titled “The Dark Knight,” currently shooting in Zagreb, Croatia. The movie stars Armie Hammer as Sanders, a justice-seeking protagonist who operates outside traditional legal boundaries.

Actor Costas Mandylor has joined the cast as Henry, an Interpol officer tasked with tracking down Hammer’s character. This casting sets up a potentially intense narrative dynamic between a vigilante and the law enforcement officer pursuing him.

The film, currently shooting in Zagreb, Croatia, has also added Costas Mandylor (‘Saw’ franchise) to the cast. Along with this announcement, the production team has released a first-look image from the film, giving fans a glimpse of what’s to come.

In ‘The Dark Knight,’ Hammer plays Sanders, a man who goes rogue and begins hunting down criminals himself. Mandylor takes on the role of Interpol officer Henry, the man tasked with stopping him. This sets up an intense game of cat and mouse, with two strong-willed characters on opposite sides of the law.

The 2025 awards season may still be a few weeks from its final hurrah, but it’s already had an impact on the film industry as buyers and sellers prepare to congregate once more at the European Film Market in Berlin.

With a lineup of Oscar frontrunners that includes “The Brutalist,” “Anora,” “The Substance” and “Emilia Pérez” — coupled with some impressive box office figures that look only set to grow — this year’s race has highlighted the desire of cinemagoers for bold, director-driven, out-of-the-ordinary fare.

“When you look at ‘Emilia Pérez’ and ‘I’m Still Here’ and ‘The Substance,’ those films are unique, they told some of the best stories and bring a unique perspective on something,” said Scott Shooman, head of AMC Networks’ Film Group which encompasses IFC Films.

For Shooman, the EFM is exactly the place where international buyers respond to these types of packages — led by creatively minded directors.

As Hollywood still mourns David Lynch’s passing, New York’s Metrograph Theater is honoring the late auteur.

IndieWire can announce the Metrograph will be hosting all-day David Lynch marathon tribute on February 19 with Lynch’s longtime collaborator cinematographer Frederick Elmes onsite.

Elmes will be participating in panels, and also is lending his personal 35mm print of “Wild at Heart” for the mini festival. Elmes was the cinematographer on a trio of Lynch films, “Eraserhead,” “Blue Velvet,” and “Wild at Heart.”

“It’s been such a privilege to be part of David’s unique vision, one that transports us to worlds that are familiar and mysterious, frightening and dark, beautiful and inspirational,” Elmes told IndieWire with the Metrograph announcement. “I’ll miss him dearly.”

“I was married to somebody at the time and we were very young and impressionable people,” Arquette said. “We made a deal that we were going to eat garlic if we had to do love scenes, so I ate garlic before I had to kiss Ewan McGregor and I’m like, ‘I’m so sorry, but I told my husband I was going to have to eat some garlic.’”
