Stanley Tucci has described 'Captain America: The First Avenger' as one of the greatest parts of his career. The 64-year-old actor played scientist Abraham Erskine in the 2011 Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) picture and considers it to be one of his most memorable roles.Stanley told Variety: "I loved 'Captain America: The First Avenger', it was one of the greatest roles and jobs I've ever had."I was there for three weeks and had a wonderful time, and I also loved playing that character. I was cast as a 70-year-old man at the age of 50, so that was disturbing, but that's all right; I was flattered and insulted at the same time... You have to mix it up, as they say."Tucci's latest role is alongside Ralph Fiennes and John Lithgow in the political thriller 'Conclave' and he has been surprised by the broad appeal...

It’s been 15 years since Stanley Tucci picked up his first Oscar nomination for “The Lovely Bones”; now, the character actor is back in the awards conversation, with his remarkable turn as a liberal cardinal being eyed to become the new pope in the Edward Berger’s “Conclave.”
Distributed by Focus Features, the film tells a fictionalized story about the pope selection process as secrets and alliances are exposed within the Catholic Church, reuniting Tucci with veteran actors Ralph Fiennes and Isabella Rossellini.
But it marks his first time working with Berger, who helmed by the German-language war film “All Quiet on the Western Front,” which netted four Oscars. Tucci describes Berger as a “very straightforward” director, who “has very specific ideas about what to do” without being dogmatic.
Variety had the opportunity to chat with Tucci about the multigenerational appeal of his old school thriller, how he bounces back...

When I was a kid, I wanted to watch every Alison Lohman movie I could find. The actor may not be a household name, but throughout the 2000s, she starred in some of the most interesting films being made, often opposite more experienced stars like Michelle Pfieffer, Nicolas Cage, and Ewan McGregor. Lohman always played characters younger than herself, and I mentally categorized her alongside other teen stars of the moment like AnnaSophia Robb and Keke Palmer -- even though she was born in 1979.
Sometimes, Lohman was cast as a cherubic beauty, but other times she played thornier characters, including troubled teens, child con artists, and, perhaps most famously, a "hag"-hating promotion-seeker. The actor had appeared in fewer than two dozen movies in her career, yet the majority of them were compelling in some way. Then, around 2009, she largely disappeared from the spotlight. In the decade and a half since,...

The third season of HBO’s hit controversial show Euphoria has been delayed due to a bevy of reasons, but HBO boss Casey Bloys said last month that the series should commence very soon. “We are shooting Euphoria,” Bloys said. “I think we have a start date, mid to late January. Nothing’s changed. Somebody said something online, and then this whole thing started. We are shooting the season. I have read the scripts. We’re happy. We’re moving ahead. All of the actors are in the show.“
Very little is known about this season. Apparently, even one of the show’s breakout stars, Colman Domingo, hasn’t yet seen a script, but he has been hyped about returning ever since discussing it with the series creator, who is coming off of the equally controversial HBO series The Idol. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Domingo appeared on an episode of the U.

On December 21, 1988, Pan Am Flight 103 exploded in mid-air over Lockerbie, Scotland, killing everyone on board and 11 people in the town below. That disaster is where Peacock’s new limited series gets its name, but the show focuses on Dr. Jim Swire (Colin Firth) and his decades long mission to answer major puzzling questions about what happened.
As with all on-screen dramatization, facts must serve the story from writer David Harrower, along with imagined scenes and dialogue, and very true details that feel stranger than fiction. How funny is 2025 going to be?
Last year wasn’t great for comedies, with movies like The Fall Guy and If failing at the box office. Could 2025 be a rebound? It’s possible, which inspired me to put together a list of the 10 comedies I’m most intrigued to see this year. Some are much-awaited sequels to beloved movies. Others are daring swings by acclaimed indie directors. And one of them features Tim Robinson and Paul Rudd at odds. Clearly, there’s something for everyone in 2025.
I organized my picks by release date, putting movies that don’t yet have a fixed spot on the calendar at the end in alphabetical order. But, as always, it’s a roll of the dice when you’re putting together a guide like this. I haven’t seen any of these movies, so I’m really just crossing my fingers and hoping for the best.

Get ready movie nerds and hold onto your seat because 2025 is about to bring a cinematic buffet we didn’t know we needed. Few days are left and we’re landing the territory of 2025 that will feature superheroes trying to outdo themselves (again), and yes, even a return to Pandora because James Cameron just can’t leave that blue magic alone.
Honestly, the 2025 movie lineup is stacked. Bong Joon Ho’s genius is making a comeback, Ryan Coogler is also cooking up something epic, and Paul Thomas Anderson? Probably crafting something so artsy it’ll make us feel smarter just for watching. Meanwhile, Guillermo del Toro is back to charm us once more with his spooky whimsy, and James Gunn is stepping into Superman territory (let’s just hope he doesn’t drop the kryptonite).

Hollywood is the entertainment capital of the world of entertainment and for many, it is a lifelong dream to make it in the cutthroat world of Tinseltown. Even though it is hard to say relevant for it requires an unprecedented amount of dedication, resilience, and hard work, the fame, acclaim, and money make it all worth it in the end. So, even though it is hard to reach the top, some would literally make a deal with the devil to remain in the game.

Colin Firth plays a grieving father searching for answers in a series based on Dr. Jim Swire’s book.
I loved everything about Colin Firth in his last TV series, “The Staircase,” except the ending. The Academy Award winner is back in the limited series, “Lockerbie: A Search for Truth” premiering Thursday, Jan. 7 on Peacock. The five-part series tells the story of Dr. Jim Swire, a father who lost his daughter in the 1988 Lockerbie bombing, when a terrorist attack brought down Pan Am Flight 103, killing 270 people. But this isn’t likely to be just a retelling of history - it’s a deeply personal look at a father’s grief, resilience, and pursuit of justice. Here’s everything you need to know about this limited series, “Lockerbie: A Search for Truth.”

2025 will be an exciting year in movies as Hollywood continues to capitalize on successful franchises. The year promises to deliver several highly-anticipated sequels, including long-awaited continuations to new chapters in film’s biggest franchises.
However, not every sequel fans hope for is set to make the cut in 2025. Script delays, released changes, and more will put a pause on some series.
Movie sequels coming in 2025
Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy Renée Zellweger (not Jennifer Lawrence), Hugh Grant, Colin Firth and Emma Thompson are back for the fourth installment of the Bridget Jones series. The story of Pan Am Flight 103 is one that continues to haunt much of Britain. In 1988, a transatlantic flight to America exploded over the Scottish town of Lockerbie, killing all 243 passengers and 16 crew members. Parts of the aircraft fell onto the town and killed another 11 people.
A bomb aboard the plane was responsible for the carnage. The search for answers continues to this day, as American authorities are set to hold a federal trial for the latest suspect in the bombing that created the deadliest terrorist attack in the history of the UK. The hunt for justice has left deep divisions between the victims’ families, and one advocate in particular, at the center of this Peacock miniseries, came to represent the knotty and obsessive hunt for the truth.
“How can you, of all people, prepare to be in the same room as him,” a particularly forward prison guard asks Dr.

“Lockerbie: A Search for Truth” serves as a somber reminder of the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, in 1988, which took 270 lives. A turning point in the narrative of international terrorism was marked by this tragedy, which left deep wounds on families and communities.
After the loss of his daughter Flora, Jim Swire, a father, became a tenacious seeker of the truth. As he struggles with the tragedy’s ambiguity, his journey shows a complex interplay of grief and obsession, leading him through a labyrinth of political intrigue and emotional turmoil.
This five-part miniseries on Sky Atlantic, adapted by David Harrower and directed by Otto Bathurst, combines meticulous historical detail with Swire’s personal narrative. It forces viewers to confront the past while navigating the unanswered questions that shape the present.

Appropriately somber and sincere-of-purpose, Peacock’s new limited series Lockerbie: A Search for Truth is, to the surprise of nobody who has been watching a lot of TV or reading my reviews recently, an important and powerful story dressed up in an ill-fitting suit.
The five-hour drama consists of two gripping episodes, then two meandering episodes and finally a conclusion of hastily resolved catharsis. Carried by a raw, heartbreaking lead performance by Colin Firth, it’s consistently watchable, but lacking the necessary focus to be truly exceptional.
Not to be confused with the Netflix six-parter, Lockerbie, Lockerbie: A Search for Truth — airing on Sky Atlantic in the U.K. — this one is based on Jim Swire’s memoir and adapted by Scottish playwright David Harrower.

Lockerbie: A Search for Truth is riveting and undeniably powerful. It’s based on the actual events of the terrorist attack that brought down Pan Am Flight 103 on a chilly 1988 December night. The flight set fire to the sky from a bomb over the small Scottish town of Lockerbie, claiming the lives of all 259 people on board, along with 11 others on the ground, from falling debris that unmercifully fell from the heavens, looking like pieces of hell.
While Lockerbie: A Search for Truth occasionally falls into the pitfalls of dramatic clichés often found in true story adaptations, it features two phenomenal performances that stand out. Colin Firth and Catherine McCormack brilliantly portray the rotting core of a family grappling with tragic loss while also conveying the personal toll of grief when it prevents us from moving on and letting go.

On December 21, 1988, Pan Am Flight 103 exploded mid-air over Lockerbie, Scotland, killing 270 people, including 11 residents on the ground. The incident remains one of the most horrifying acts of terrorism in aviation history. But beyond the devastation, the tragedy’s official investigation left lingering questions and unanswered doubts that continue to haunt survivors, victims’ families, and investigators. The upcoming Peacock series Lockerbie: A Search for Truth delves into these mysteries, offering a fresh perspective on a case that’s far from closed.
A Tragedy That Shaped History
The Lockerbie bombing wasn’t just a catastrophic event; it reshaped global aviation security and international relations. Initially, the blame was placed on Libya, and Abdelbaset al-Megrahi became the only individual convicted for the attack. But was the investigation’s conclusion definitive, or was it shaped by political expediency? This is the question at the heart of Lockerbie: A Search for Truth.

Welcome to Career Watch, a vocational checkup of top actors and directors and those who hope to get there. In this edition, we take on Nicholas Hoult, who’s doing what he’s always done: owning character roles in film, theater, and television.
Bottom Line: Hoult has an enigmatic persona that fits just about any role. The camera is drawn to his deep blue eyes, and you can count on Hoult to deliver a character’s emotional spine. (He’s not one to go overboard.) That’s why this grown-up child actor never falls out of favor. He can handle anything: Marvel superheroics, Nic Cage flicks (“The Weatherman” and “Renfield”), movies starring Toni Colette (“About a Boy” and “Juror #2”), action thrillers, and comedic bodice-rippers.
Career Arcs: Hoult first trod the boards when he was three, following in the footsteps of his older siblings. He starred opposite Toni Collette and Hugh Grant...

Anyone who’s watched television in the past 50 years is likely familiar with the work of Bruce Vilanch, the comedy writer who appeared on Hollywood Squares for four years, and co-wrote the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special.
One of Vilanch’s biggest contributions to the world of pop culture has been writing for the Academy Awards. After all, where would the Oscars be without one-liners and upbeat musical numbers about Titanic and Good Will Hunting?

Vilanch began writing for the Oscars way back in 1989, and he eventually became the ceremony’s head writer from 2000 to 2014 — which means that he both began and ended his Oscars career with notoriously disastrous telecasts.

Renee Zellweger says the character of Bridget Jones is "always lingering" in her life. The 55-year-old star is set to return to the role for the upcoming movie 'Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy' and finds it straightforward to relate to her alter ego. When asked if she misses playing Bridget, Renee told Empire magazine: "Oh, yeah, absolutely. I mean, there are parts of this character that a lot of people relate to, and I share that. I relate to so much about her that I feel like she's always sort of lingering. "I feel her in my awkwardness sometimes, and I think of her when I'm having one of those out-of-body experiences where you're kind of watching yourself talk and thinking, 'Just shut your mouth. Just stop talking. Okay, now stop talking. Now: stop talking. Okay. Just stop now.'"So, I feel like there are parts...

Pick any time that Steven Spielberg had a film coming out and chances are that it was one of your most anticipated movies of the year. Even when it’s announced the buzz begins. But at a certain point — and not to get sad here — that will be no more. And only then will we truly realize that we took it all for granted.
Appearing on the Talking Pictures podcast, Jason Reitman recounted to host Ben Mankiewicz going to the set of Jurassic Park and watching a scene being shot and being blown away long before audiences were. On Spielberg as a whole, Reitman made the case, “We take for granted being in the hands of a master. And when Steven is making E.T. or Indiana Jones or Jurassic Park, yeah, they’re movies that you can – nowadays, you can literally just stream any of them any time you want.

It’s safe to say Richard Curtis wasn’t a huge fan of Love Actually postproduction.
The writer-director of the beloved 2003 holiday rom-com recently told IndieWire that it was a “catastrophe” editing the film starring Hugh Grant, Keira Knightley, Liam Neeson, Laura Linney, Bill Nighy, Martine McCutcheon, Colin Firth, Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman and Rowan Atkinson.
“The strange thing about Love Actually is, when we finished the movie, it was a catastrophe,” Curtis said of putting together multiple storylines and character arcs. “It took six months to re-edit it and learn all these lessons about how to do a multi-thread story.”
The film follows the lives of eight very different couples in dealing with their love lives in various loosely interrelated tales all set during December, leading up to Christmas in London.

Colin Firth is a man on a mission in the trailer for Peacock limited drama series “Lockerbie: A Search for Truth.” The man is Dr. Jim Swire; the mission is the truth.
Swire is the father of one of the victims of the 1988 Pan Am Flight 103 explosion. Swire is a real person, and the tragedy over Lockerbie, Scotland is an all-too-real event.
On December 21, 1988, 259 passengers and crew were killed when Pan Am Flight 103 exploded over Lockerbie 38 minutes after take-off. Eleven residents on the ground died as the plane crashed down. Dr. Swire became the nominated spokesperson for the UK victims’ families — he also became obsessed with the hunt for the truth, in only the way a grieving parent could.
The “Lockerbie” trailer was released on Thursday and can be viewed at the end of this story.

British actor Emily Blunt, who is being honored Thursday at the opening ceremony of the Red Sea Film Festival in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, told an audience earlier in the day about Benny Safdie’s Mma fighting drama “The Smashing Machine,” in which she stars alongside Dwayne Johnson.
During a public interview, which runs as part of the festival’s “In Conversation With” strand, she said: “It’s an incredibly intense film.”
She said Johnson, with whom she starred with in “Jungle Cruise,” is “unrecognizable” in “The Smashing Machine.”
She said: “Dwayne is someone who, as you know – not only because of his colossal size, but just who he is – has never really been allowed to disappear, and he is unrecognizable in this.
“And it’s an incredibly intense film – yes, centered around the life of this real life Mma fighter Mark Kerr – all of his struggles with addictions, his relationships.
