Your heads must be spinning after binge-watching Pantheon, AMC’s cyberpunk adult animated series that got dropped on Netflix. With an extremely relevant theme at the center of it, Pantheon is mostly great from start to finish, which could only happen thanks to a hugely talented voice cast that has names like Paul Dano and Aaron Eckhart. You are, of course, reading the article to understand what really happened in the ending (and the whole thing) better, and I am hoping to help you out. So, to simplify, I am going to lay down the story according to the chronology instead of the narrative the show followed. Quite naturally, there will be spoilers, so if you haven’t watched Pantheon yet, this is your warning.
What Happens in the Show?
Since simplification is the intention here, I am going to start with the biggest twist of the show that gets...

Who would have thought the rather corny “Olympus Has Fallen” actioner would become its own franchise? After three films in the series, “London Has Fallen” and “Angel Has Fallen,” the franchise moves to television with “Paris Has Fallen.”
Of course, there’s no Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart, or Morgan Freeman in this one, but there’s at least Sean Harris (“Mission Impossible—Rogue Nation”).

Who doesn’t know about Christopher Nolan? He is one of the finest and creative directors at present. However, what people might not know is that Christopher’s brother, Jonathan Nolan, is also a great director and writer. Both of them made their own names in the industry. But while it seems the world celebrates Christopher Nolan, Jonathan doesn’t get his due credit that much.

Although Jonathan has also achieved a lot of things on his end, he tends to keep himself away from the limelight. This is also one of the reasons why people haven’t noticed him the way they did Christopher. Many might not know that the brothers duo have worked together on many films, including Memento (2000), The Prestige (2006), The Dark Knight (2008), The Dark Knight Rises (2012) and Interstellar (2014).

The Penguin airs its final episode this Sunday, and while the jury's out on whether it will ever get a second season, it's clear that HBO and Warner Bros. Discovery are happy with how well the show has been received. The Penguin was spun off from Matt Reeves' 2022 movie The Batman, and I think it improves on its source. It's clear that Reeves and company are, at the least, interested in making other shows starring Batman villains. But which ones?
Well, according to Devin Faraci, who operates the Marvelvision podcast, the next DC villain show will be about the Joker, played once again by Barry Keoghan, who debuted his take on the iconic character in a cameo at the end of The Batman. As The Penguin spans the time between The Batman and the upcoming The Batman: Part II, the idea is that a Joker show would span the time...

Exclusive: Jessica Chastain, Brendan Fraser and Bryan Cranston have joined Al Pacino in the mystery thriller Assassination. The film will be directed by Barry Levinson from a script by David Mamet, Levinson and Sam Bromell.
The film offers up a new take on the JFK conspiracy, centering around Kilgallen (Chastain), one of the most famous voices in media at the time. When she suspects that Lee Harvey Oswald did not act alone, she uses her fame and influence to find President John F. Kennedy’s real killer. Part murder mystery, part film noir, Kilgallen’s journey will put her up against the CIA, mafia bosses and the FBI, all who would love nothing more than to make her and this story disappear.
“Dorothy Kilgallen was the first female crime reporter in America. She was the only woman to ever cover the JFK case. The only reporter to speak with Jack Ruby.

Classified is a title with a double meaning. It not only refers to the work C.I.A. assassin Evan does, but it’s how he gets the details of his assignments. His handler, Kevin disguises them as ads in the classified section of the local paper.
As the film begins we see just how the process works as he gets his assignment, gets his hotel room, gets, his weapons, hallucinates about his dead wife Monica, and takes out his target. He’s about to do it all again, this time in Rome, when he gets an unexpected visitor.

Two films shared top spots on VOD charts. The newly released “Transformers One” (Paramount) leads at Fandango (which ranks by revenue), while “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” (Warner Bros.) in its third week returned to #1 at iTunes (calculating by transactions). Both films rent for $19.99.
Netflix continues its string of originals placing first on its top 10 movie list (briefly interrupted by “Bad Boys Ride or Die”), with “Don’t Move” (a horror/thriller with Sam Raimi as one of the producers) taking over the #1 spot.
“The Wild Robot” (Universal), still the #3 film in theaters this weekend, placed second on both charts (it was #1 once during the week at iTunes). “Transformers One” is fourth at iTunes, though it was #1 initially earlier in the week. “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” is #3 at Fandango.
Now in its second week, “Alien: Romulus” (Disney), renting at an unusually high $24.99 (as are “The Wild Robot” and “Deadpool & Wolverine”), dropped #5 at Fandango and #7 at iTunes.

Imagine doing a job for decades, only to find out you’ve been living a lie, doing the dirty work for someone you didn’t even know existed. Classified (2024) Plot Summary & Movie Synopsis: Who Is Shaw?

That’s where the protagonist, Evan, comes in. He’s a government assassin, doing missions for the Central Intelligence Agency. There is shockingly bad dialogue and a lot of extras waiting to fall over dead as Eckhart’s killer for hire finds all is not what it seems
This decidedly shonky, if at least relatively unpretentious, action film stars Aaron Eckhart, once very much the coming man who’s not had the career you would expect for someone with his looks and talent. Eckhart plays a hitman named Evan Shaw; clearly a bit of a dolt, Shaw thinks he works for a super-specialised unit within the CIA that dispatches him to assassinate bad guys by sending him coded messages in the classified ads in newspapers (very retro). Shaw never sees his boss, Kevin although a flashback reveals they used to have dinner together once in a while. Still grieving his late wife, Monica, Shaw devotes himself to his lonely, murderous work, passing through airports, picking up suitcases with high calibre rifles at lost property offices,...

Plot: A career CIA hitman who’s been solely using the classified section of various newspapers to receive his orders suddenly discovers that his division’s actually been shut down for years.
Review: As of late, Aaron Eckhart has been making a career starring in these low-budget action flicks. Decidedly more focused on the conversations versus actual bombastic action, this is what I’d refer to as a “wait and see” action movie. The action beats are over just as fast as they begin, and it’s much more about the setup. This is clearly due to budget constraints but also a bit of creative laziness, as it gets quite shocking with how little is actually happening. I’ll give you three guesses as to which type of action film Classified is…

Heath Ledger died months before The Dark Knight arrived in theaters. As a result, the actor never got to see the response to his performance as The Joker or receive the "Best Supporting Actor" Oscar, which he was posthumously awarded the following year.
According to The Amazing Spider-Man star Andrew Garfield, Ledger was understandably confident about The Dark Knight being a hit after teaming with Christopher Nolan on the Batman Begins sequel.
Garfield, who shared the screen with Ledger in 2009's The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, remembers the actor as a "very generous, beautiful, creative spirit." He'd call him "a kind of beacon, it was like a wild animal" on set, adding, "He was so free and so wild and so, kind of dangerous on set in a way that was the kind of thing that is inspiring and spontaneous."

How many times has a forgotten film found success on Netflix? Surely too many to count. The service has proven time and time again that, no matter how bad a movie is, if the public have been given long enough to forget it existed, it will more than likely see a resurgence in interest when fed into the streaming machine. Just take a look at the 2008 Keanu Reeves thriller "Street Kings," which had a renaissance on Netflix back in 2023. Or when Netflix breathed new life into the forgotten Aaron Eckhart-led action thriller "The Bricklayer" this year.
Now, it's Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg's turn. Wahlberg is no stranger to a streaming resurgence, with the actor's "Shooter" making waves on Netflix in 2023. This time, though he's joined by Denzel (who only just found his way into Netflix's top charts last month thanks to "American Gangster") in 2013's buddy cop actioner "2 Guns.

This article contains some spoilers for "Joker: Folie à Deux."
The two "Joker" films directed by Todd Phillips, 2019's "Joker" and this month's "Joker: Folie à Deux," are movies primarily centered around the Joker (played by Joaquin Phoenix), as the titles suggest. Although these are two comic book films that can genuinely be called character studies, that doesn't mean that Phillips and his collaborators leave out other famous figures from the "Batman" comic books. The first film featured Thomas Wayne aka Batman's dad in a key supporting role (not to mention an appearance of the future Dark Knight himself as a youngster), but "Folie à Deux" involves Harley Quinn as a major co-lead, played by none other than Lady Gaga. Although neither of these movies are interested in setting up future characters or storylines, that doesn't mean Phillips and company can't throw in a handful of Easter eggs here and there.

The Industry actor sets his sights on Gotham, Hollywood and beyond
While enjoying the lingering LA sun the evening before he began shooting Joker: Folie À Deux, Harry Lawtey — who describes himself as “a nervous presence” — had an epiphany. “You may never be in a position like this again,” he thought. ”So you’ve just got to give it a go and try to enjoy it.” He will be forever grateful for that moment, as the next day the 27-year-old arrived on set as tenacious Assistant District Attorney Harvey Dent, ready to go toe-to-toe with Joaquin Phoenix’s tortured clown. As if the stakes weren’t high enough, scheduling meant that he wasn’t introduced to his co-star until they were filming a scene together. “The first time I lay eyes on Joaquin, [there’s] a close-up of my face looking at him walking into a room in character,” Lawtey marvels to Empire.

In the early days of her career, Jennifer Lopez’s reputation as a diva was so prevalent that even film studios were worried about crossing her. Lopez has long said that this is an unfair descriptor. Still, she was well aware of the way people viewed her. She said that when a studio had to break bad news to her, they seemed afraid about her reaction.

Christian Bale’s voice as Batman in the “Dark Knight” trilogy is infamous — and infamously bad for the vocal cords — but as it turns out, Joaquin Phoenix’s unhinged laugh as Arthur Fleck in the “Joker” films was also a bit of a health hazard.
Phoenix’s “Joker: Folie à Deux” co-star Harry Lawtey told Variety that the Oscar winner couldn’t stop coughing after doing Arthur’s maniacal chuckle.
“To watch him do that laugh and to see the effect on him — on everyone — blew my mind,” Lawtey said. “He would be coughing after each take. It was an education to watch him move through different flavors and shades of that performance.”
“Industry” star Lawtey plays Harvey Dent in the sequel film. District attorney Dent canonically becomes Two-Face in the comics, and was most recently played by Aaron Eckhart in “The Dark Knight.”

On the set of “Joker: Folie à Deux,” Joaquin Phoenix stayed in full makeup even when the cast was workshopping a scene. That left one unsuspecting parent in full panic mode.
“Joaquin suggested, as a joke, that we FaceTime my mum and scare her,” recalls Harry Lawtey, who
plays Harvey Dent, the courtroom nemesis of the titular maniac. “My mum was in England, so it was quite late, and she was getting ready for bed. And I said, ‘Hello,’ and then I brought the phone up to my face, and Joaquin put his head on my shoulder. My mum screamed, ran away and woke up my dad.”
Terrified mums notwithstanding, Lawtey says Phoenix put on “a master class” every day that left
the 27-year-old Brit in awe.

"Finish the mission... or you become the mission!" Saban Films has revealed an official trailer for the action thriller film titled Classified, another of these dime-a-dozen junk action films tossed on VOD. Never heard of it before and probably won't ever hear of it again. The storyline revolves around a veteran CIA agent and his daughter, who herself is an MI6 analyst. His daughter tracks him down and tells him his boss has been dead for years. He has been solely using the classified section of various newspapers to receive his orders - only to discover that his division's actually been shut down for a long time. They set out to find out who has actually been giving him his instructions and sending him on missions. Aaron Eckhart stars with Abigail Breslin, plus Tim Roth, Matt Hookings, Myles Clohessy, Kim DeLonghi, and Joe Azzopardi. This looks like another made-on-Malta tax write off.

We have the Joker. We have Harley Quinn. Now we have Harvey Dent. We have all these characters that will be featured in Todd Phillips’ upcoming sequel “Joker: Folie à Deux,” as revealed in new footage released by Warner Bros. on Tuesday morning. The promotion features a first look at Harry Lawtey, known for his starring role as Robert Spearing on HBO and BBC Two’s acclaimed series “Industry,” taking on the role of Harvey Dent, aka Two-Face, one of Batman’s key adversaries.
Harvey Dent was first introduced in DC Comics as a District Attorney for Gotham City, whose symmetrical acid-disfigurement at the hands of the the mob leads him to a life of crime and dueling personalities. In “Folie à Deux,” the 27-year-old Lawtey seems to be playing an up-and-coming version of the character, as he appears in an interview on TV news with a card titling him as an assistant D.

For a long time now, the names of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have receded from the public memory. In the aftermath of the 2022 Depp v Heard defamation trial, the respective parties who had been at war since December 2018 finally subsided into their own corners of the Earth, enjoying a life only luxury can buy.

The Joker has become a character in popular culture and every actor involved in his crafting for any adaptation has brought something unique to its performance. Be it Jack Nicleson’s gangster, Ceaser Romero’s clown, Heath Ledger’s terrorist, or Joaquin Phenoix’s lonely man, there have been few stand-out scenes that have defined the character’s live-action presence.

While Heath Ledger’s Joker is considered to be one of the best versions of the character in live-action, Cameron Monaghan has come close to rivaling what the former was able to do with the character. It's a light year for comic book movies (relatively speaking), in no small part because the Marvel Cinematic Universe is only bringing us "Deadpool & Wolverine," while the DC slate is also slim. But DC's lone release this year will pack a punch: "Joker: Folie a Deux," aka "Joker 2," is coming down the pipeline in October. As the sequel to the biggest R-rated movie in cinema history, all eyes are on this one. And not just because Joaquin Phoenix is back as Arthur Fleck, but because Lady Gaga is playing Harley Quinn as well. To add to the intrigue, it looks like another classic DC Comics villain is going to be involved in the proceedings.
A new full-length trailer for "Joker: Folie a Deux" dropped today, which offers a better sense of the musical-driven chaos that director Todd Phillips is bringing to the sequel. The captions contain a pretty...

The Dark Knight put a bold new spin on The Joker courtesy of a transformative take on the Clown Prince of Crime from the late Heath Ledger.
While Joaquin Phoenix came close to reaching the same heights as his predecessor (Suicide Squad star Jared Leto did not), no one has managed to top what Ledger did in the eyes of most DC fans.
Had the Oscar winner not died, he'd have reprised the role in The Dark Knight Rises. It's been said that it would have boiled down to little more than an Arkham Asylum-set cameo, though others believe he could have joined Bane in unleashing chaos on Gotham City.
Regardless, we now get a glimpse at what might have been thanks to a new Hot Toys figure which introduces "The Joker (Batman Imposter Version)."

The 1986 war drama "Platoon" was Oliver Stone's fourth film as a director, but it proved to be his breakout in the public consciousness. Before 1986, Stone helmed two horror movies and a biopic of war photographer Richard Boyle ("Salvador"), but "Platoon" put him on the map. It was nominated for eight Academy Awards, and won four, including Best Picture and Best Director. Stone immediately emerged as an enfent terrible, ready to interrogate and criticize previously romanticized American institutions. He also became wildly ambitious, seemingly possessing the temerity to assume his films would change the way the public thinks. In some cases, he was right.
Stone wore his politics on his sleeve, and often spoke about how much he hated the American right wing. Two of his films are deeply critical biopics of Republican presidents, and several of his more recent documentaries analyze politicians in power. He has turned his lens on Vladimir Putin,...
