Lily-Rose Depp recently told Harper’s Bazaar UK that she was left “traumatized” by her father Johnny Depp’s 1990 fantasy movie “Edward Scissorhands.” The Tim Burton-directed classic stars Johnny as a societal reject who has blades for fingers. But it wasn’t the character’s physical appearance that distressed Lily-Rose as a child.
“I was traumatized by it. Not because I thought he was scary, but because everyone was being so mean to him and I got really upset,” Lily-Rose told the publication, calling out the film’s ending when the suburban townsfolk turn on Edward as being particularly horrifying.
“I remember being petrified by that, which is weird, because I don’t have many memories from when I was that young,” she added. “It’s a difficult childhood memory.”

Starting in 1996, the cartoon showcase TV Funhouse became a regular fixture on Saturday Night Live. The brainchild of veteran SNL writer — and Triumph the Insult Comic Dog creator — Robert Smigel, TV Funhouse is best remembered as the home for Ace and Gary, “The Ambiguously Gay Duo,” who would defeat the forces of evil in the most suggestive ways possible.
But there was more to TV Funhouse than just Ace and Gary. Other recurring segments included “The X-Presidents,” — in which (then) ex-presidents Reagan, Ford, Bush Sr. and Carter (Rip) would make America safe with their variety of superpowers, and “Fun with Real Audio,” where real news audio from political figures would be used over hilariously humiliating animation. There were also dozens of one-off cartoons featuring Smigel’s signature brand of twisted humor.
Sadly, TV Funhouse ended in 2008, and but for a one-segment revival in 2011, it hasn’t been heard from since.

George Folsey Jr., the longtime producer and film editor for director John Landis, has died at the age of 85, according to his family.
The son of 13-time Oscar-nominated cinematographer George J. Folsey, whose credits included “Meet Me in St. Louis” and “Forbidden Planet,” Folsey Jr. got his start in editing at Kabc in Los Angeles, where he edited documentaries and news reports for broadcast in the 1960s.
He then moved into cinema by learning the trade at MGM, where his father had worked, alongside “Grand Prix” Oscar-winning editor Henry Berman. His first feature film project was Alexander Singer’s “Glass Houses,” a 1972 film in which Folsey was editor, cinematographer and producer.
A year later, Folsey was hired to edit John Landis’ debut feature film “Schlock,” a sendup of “King Kong” in which an ape man chased out of his cave wanders into a Southern California neighborhood and develops an unrequited crush on a teen girl.

Did Beyoncé’s halftime show spark some unexpected controversy? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Beyonce set the stage ablaze in her hometown of Houston during the Ravens vs. Texans game, delivering an unforgettable 13-minute halftime show for Netflix’s Christmas Gameday coverage.
But it wasn’t just her dazzling rhinestone bodysuit and cowboy hat that had fans talking – it was the finger guns she fired during her performance, a gesture that, as many pointed out, is strictly prohibited by the NFL.
The league has a history of fining players for gun-related celebrations, but Beyoncé seemed to get a pass.

One of the most famous Broadway songs ever is “Defying Gravity” from Wicked. Idina Menzel performed the song in the initial production of Wicked, and many people love her version of the song from the musical’s original cast recording. However, Menzel also gave us another rendition of the song that is probably the most misguided cover ever.
Idina Menzel worked with a music legend to make an awful ‘Defying Gravity’
Everyone has covered “Defying Gravity,” including Cynthia Erivo in the 2024 Wicked film adaptation. It’s been done by so many Broadway and West End performers, and there is no shortage of metal covers on YouTube. Some fans even like to combine it with Mendel’s signature song: “Let It Go” from Frozen.

In the "The Simpsons" episode "How I Spend My Strummer Vacation", Homer (Dan Castellaneta) is caught on camera, drunkenly confessing that having a family never allowed him to realize his dreams of becoming a rock star. His family hears the confession and, while angry, also understand that many of Homer's dreams are indeed stifled by his domestic existence. As a favor, they enroll him in a sleepaway rock 'n' roll camp run by the Rolling Stones.
Homer gets to interact with the camp's many celebrity counselors, all of them playing themselves. Mick Jagger and Keith Richards lay out the syllabus for the camp: Campers are to take singing and guitar/bass/drum lessons, and will, at the end of the week, put on a show. The counselors include Brian Setzer, Lenny Kravitz, and Elvis Costello. The lyrics workshop is taught by Tom Petty.

The Jonas Brothers were kind of a 2000s equivalent of The Jackson 5. Interestingly, the Jonas Brothers’ Christmas song is directly connected to Michael Jackson; a famous rocker helped craft the song.
A musician who worked with Michael Jackson played on the Jonas Brothers’ Christmas song
The Jonas Brothers’ most famous Christmas song is “Like It’s Christmas.” During a 2022 interview with Songwriting, co-writer Gian Stone discussed recording the track.
“We got this guy Jerry Hey, who did all the Michael Jackson stuff, to do some horns on it,” he recalled. “Next thing you know, they’re like, ‘Yeah, it’s coming out in two weeks,’ and got it mixed by Serban [Ghenea].”
The Jonas Brothers didn’t just regurgitate Stone’s ideas. “So it changed a lot,” he said. “I think part of it was wanting to get real horns in it. We really wanted to try to turn it into a classic-sounding album.

A new documentary about WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has withdrawn from January’s Sundance Film Festival.
Titled “The Six Billion Dollar Man,” director Eugene Jarecki was set to mark the film’s world premiere in Utah next month. The festival routinely screens high-impact nonfiction projects, including recent harrowing docs on Michael Jackson’s sexual assault accusers and the firestorm surrounding alleged sexual misconduct by Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanagh. It’s quite uncommon for films to be voluntarily withdrawn from festival lineups once they are announced.
“The truth is, significant recent and unexpected developments have emerged at the heart of the story which, if not incorporated in the version for Sundance, would not represent a finished film,” Jarecki teased in a vague statement. “Sundance has shaped my career and been a cornerstone of my journey — only something of this magnitude could make me withdraw.”
It’s unclear what events led to the decision.

Lower the lights, close the curtains, and leave one headphone halfway off your ear to detect outside noise because Rory Culkin and Paris Jackson will lead the 1990s-set softcore porn comedy Skinemax. The project comes from Adam Sigal, who directs Skinemax from a script he wrote. Production for Skinemax recently wrapped in Budapest, with the film sounding like it could deliver some blush-worthy laughs.
Skinemax focuses on the softcore porn industry in 1990. You know, the decade when adult film icons like Silvia Saint, Asia Carerra, Peter North, and Jack Napier were the kings and queens of fictitious bedroom gymnastics, and adolescents prayed for scrambled channels to display even a single private part long enough to feel as if they’d won the porn lottery. Yeah, that magical time. The film follows Morgan Sands (Culkin), a failing indie film director, and his unlikely friendship with Jessie Hudson (Jackson), a popular adult film star.

Never pictured Charlie Brown as a younger version of Frank Costanza? Get ready to bask in their mutual holiday misery.
The two blockheads have a lot in common. Charlie Brown detests the overcommercialization of Christmas; Costanza finds tinsel distracting. Both are drawn to aluminum poles. And both have a long list of holiday grievances. “Rats. Nobody sent me a Christmas card today,” grumbles Charlie Brown in the original special. “I almost wish there weren’t a holiday season.”
Complaining about the season is what Costanza’s holiday is all about. “At the Festivus dinner,” he explains, “you gather your family around, and you tell them all the ways they have disappointed you over the past year.”
While A Charlie Brown Festivus is fun, it’s disappointingly short at 33 seconds. Luckily, there are more Charlie Brown Christmas parodies that also deliver the goods.

Nirvana’s Nevermind has just become only the ninth release to spend 700 weeks on the Billboard 200 chart. When you eliminate greatest-hits compilations, it’s only the fourth studio LP to achieve that milestone.
The game-changing 1991 album sits at No. 120 on the latest Billboard 200 chart, it’s 700th non-consecutive week on the overall albums tally. As far as studio albums are considered, only Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon (990 weeks), Metallica’s “Black Album” (767 weeks), and Bruno Mars’ Doo-Wops & Hooligans (706 weeks) top Nirvana’s sophomore LP.
Among the other releases in the Top 9 are greatest-hits collections from Bob Marley and the Wailers (865 weeks), Journey (835 weeks), Creedence Clearwater Revival (724 weeks), Eminem (714 weeks), and Guns N’ Roses (704 weeks).
Upon its release in September 1991, Nevermind changed the face of rock music. At a time when hair metal was dominating MTV and radio airwaves, the Nirvana album helped usher in a grunge and alternative revolution,...

Macaulay Culkin received a lot of fame when he participated in the 1990 comedy hit Home Alone as the eight-year-old Kevin McCallister. This opened several other opportunities for the actor in the industry, and he became an overnight sensation. While things looked good on the outside, in reality, this fame was quite tough on the actor personally.

This mirrored the same issue that many child actors face in the industry, especially when they start out at such a young age. However, Culkin used his fame and the popularity of Home Alone for another purpose altogether. In an interview, he admitted that he used his Home Alone fame to get laid.

Macaulay Culkin shot to fame in the late 80s with his appearance in Rocket Gibraltar. Managed by his father Kit Culkin, his acting career seemed to be on a constant rise ever since, with movies like Uncle Buck, Home Alone, Richie Rich, and more. The father-son duo were also spotted many times in public appearances and award shows having a good time back then.

However, according to the former child star, things were not as great as they appeared. Culkin has claimed many times throughout the years that his father was abusive. Not only towards him, but also his other siblings, most of whom were also child stars, and even towards his mother.
In an interview back in 2018, Culkin claimed that the abuse was so severe that he still carried scars from it. This is what, according to him, led to...

A treasure hunter discovered unreleased tapes by Michael Jackson, and they must be worth a fortune. But is it a massive windfall for retired California Highway Patrol officer, Gregg Musgrove? Read on to find out.
Michael Jackson Never Released All His Music
Apart from Rosie O’Donnell, millions of people worldwide would give anything to listen to unreleased tapes by the iconic pop star. Although he died in 2009, interest in the “King of Pop” remains extreme. Actually, there are a lot of tapes that were never released, probably because the performer was a perfectionist.
Michael Jackson worked with Bryan Loren, a music producer, and singer. Probably, you recall his involvement in “Dangerous.” Well, The Hollywood Reporter noted that Bryan had a storage unit, but something went wrong and payment on the unit lapsed. Now, a retired California Highway Patrol officer and his friend got lucky. But, there’s a complication.

It was recently announced that the hairy, scaly, and eccentric cast of Pixar's Monsters Inc. will be taking over the Muppet Courtyard at Disney's Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort. While it's always exciting to see new experiences at the parks, many fans mourn the loss of an iconic attraction.
ABC News shared the following shortly after the new developments were announced.
"MuppetVision 3D is officially closing its doors at Disney's Hollywood Studios to make way for the forthcoming Monstropolous attraction. But the familiar characters won't be going too far, as the Muppets have a new home replacing Aerosmith as the star of the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster at the nearby Sunset Boulevard section of the park."
Naturally, there has been much wailing and gnashing of teeth from die-hard Disney buffs and Henson aficionados everywhere, but there might be hope for the attraction yet. While the parks...

In news that can only be described as a thriller, new tracks from the late King of Pop Michael Jackson have been discovered in a storage unit. On the tapes that were found are a dozen tracks that have never been made available publicly…and may never be.
The Michael Jackson songs are said to have been recorded between 1989 and 1991, which would put them between Bad and Dangerous. Of note here is that the unit in which the tapes were found once belonged to music producer and songwriter Bryan Loren, who collaborated with Jackson around this time. The most memorable song here is undoubtedly The Simpsons hit “Do the Bartman”. So if we could get audio of Michael Jackson singing “Can I Borrow a Feeling?” or “We Do”, that’d be great…While that’s unlikely, there is a song that apparently features Jackson rapping on a duet with LL Cool J....

As it turns out, the King of Pop and the Trashman had a similar philosophy when it came to food and beverage. In retrospect, the former could probably have used a lesson from the latter when it came to, uh, songwriting.
Normally, I’d say that following the dietary and recreational habits of Frank Reynolds from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is a bad idea, and today is no exception. Honestly, the only part of Frank’s lifestyle that could possibly lead to a long and healthy life is his extravagant wealth, which is the only thing I would think Frank had in common with pop-culture demigod Michael Jackson before now. As it turns out, despite their vast and alleged differences in background, behavior, stature and feelings toward kids, Frank and Mj were surprisingly like minded when it came to getting real weird with it — well, at least in one way.

Image Source: HarperCollins In the 1970s, Cher was everywhere. Although her music partnership with Sonny Bono was fading, her solo career was taking off, with a string of hit singles. But while Sonny & Cher’s run on the music charts was ending, the duo’s run on television was just beginning. With The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour and The Sonny & Cher Show, they gave us six seasons of ’70s-style television variety shows, filled with music, comedy, and Cher’s ostentatious wardrobe (often courtesy of legendary designer Bob Mackie). And on her own, Cher had a two-season run of her own variety show. Between the various shows, she worked with some of the hottest stars of the day. One of the most memorable guest appearances came when The Jacksons visited her solo show, and she performed a medley of the group’s hits, singing and dancing alongside Michael Jackson.

When former California Highway Patrol officer turned stay-at-home dad Gregg Musgrove started “treasure hunting,” the 56-year-old certainly never imagined he’d end up with a king’s bounty — the King of Pop, that is.
A trove of cassette and Dat tapes containing unreleased Michael Jackson tracks were found in a storage unit deep in the San Fernando Valley. Musgrove’s journey to the tapes began when an associate contacted him about a storage unit he’d recently bought in Van Nuys. The unit once belonged to Bryan Loren, a music producer and singer (whose current whereabouts are unknown, according to Musgrove).
On the tapes are 12 unreleased tracks, music Jackson worked on prior to the Dangerous album, around 1989 to 1991.

Michael Jackson wasn’t just a pop star — he was a phenomenon. But even legends have limits, and his final chapter was far from the glamorous spectacle the world knew him for. His 2009 tour that was set to rake in a staggering $400 million, turned into a crushing burden for a man who’d already given the world everything.

Behind the glitter and moonwalks, Jackson was a human pushed to his breaking point. The relentless pressure to perform, coupled with the greed of an industry that never let up, became too much. His untimely death was the devastating result of a system that prioritized profit over the very person who made it all possible.

Paris prosecutors have requested a five-year prison sentence for filmmaker Christophe Ruggia over sexual assault charges involving actor Adele Haenel when she was a minor, Le Monde reports. Haenel is the star of the Cannes prize-winning film “Portrait of a Lady on Fire” and “Bpm.”
The sentence, requested on Tuesday, includes two years under house arrest with electronic monitoring and three years suspended. Prosecutor Camille Poch said during the hearing that it must “remind us of the forbidden, who was the adult, who was the child, it must set the world straight.”
The case stems from incidents that allegedly occurred when Haenel was between 12 and 14 years old, following her role in Ruggia’s 2001 film “Les Diables” (“The Devils”). The prosecution outlined a pattern of “progressive hold” over Haenel, which included approximately 100 Saturday afternoons spent at Ruggia’s residence until February 2004.
Defense attorney Orly Rezlan pointed to a 2014 letter from Haenel to Ruggia,...

After nabbing a Golden Globe nomination for his starring turn in A24’s prison theater drama Sing Sing, Colman Domingo spoke with Deadline about his upcoming Michael Jackson biopic, Michael, films he’s directing on Sammy Davis Jr. and Nat King Cole, his mission as an artist at this stage of his career, and more.
When it came to Michael, Domingo said, “The most special thing was working with Jaafar Jackson, who is Michael Jackson’s nephew. He is a revelation…one of the most gentle and most phenomenal souls.”
To the actor, “It’s as if a piece of Michael Jackson’s talent… I feel like some of that landed on Jaafar Jackson because he’s a revelation, just watching him. I just want to put so much love around him because he’s going to deliver a very complex portrait of one of the greatest performers that have ever walked this planet.

Daniel Penny, the Marine veteran who killed Jordan Neely, a homeless man known as a Michael Jackson impersonator around New York City, was found not guilty on a charge of criminally negligent homicide.

Last Friday morning, Dec. 6, after three days of deliberations, the jury sent Judge Maxwell Wiley a note saying they were deadlocked on the manslaughter charge. While Wiley encouraged the jury to keep deliberating, that afternoon they...

There have been countless "almosts" throughout film history, stories of filmmakers and actors nearly landing movies and roles that went on to make cinema history. There are also a bevy of tales regarding just how different famous movies nearly were, whether it has to do with their stories, their endings, their marketing, and so on. 1989's "Batman" is a flashpoint for all of these kinds of tales, in part because of how long it had been in development, and in part because of how much of a cultural juggernaut it was expected to be (and ended up becoming). There have been all sorts of wild anecdotes about the film's production told over the years, everything from how the ending of the film was partially inspired by Andrew Lloyd Webber's "The Phantom of the Opera" to how Prince, George Michael, and Michael Jackson were at one point due to collaborate...
