If you're only familiar with director Steven Soderbergh's take on Danny Ocean's (George Clooney) story in his "Ocean's" trilogy — which kicked off in 2001 — you might not know that the actual first movie centering around a guy named Ocean and a big Las Vegas heist actually came out in 1960. So which ones in this series are the best, and which are the worst?
I feel pretty comfortable saying that I'm going to ruffle some feathers with this ranking, and I'm fine with that. I love picking hyper-specific hills and then dying upon them; it's one of my absolute favorite hobbies. Still, with just five "Ocean's" movies to choose from — putting aside the rumored prequel with Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie as Danny's parents — it's a fairly close ranking, but there's still a definitive answer. Here are the "Ocean's" movies ranked from worst to best, and I guarantee people...

Renowned filmmaker Steven Spielberg almost worked with Steve McQueen in the past, but it seemed like the opportunity was elusive and ultimately never happened. In fact, they had many chances to team up with each other and it seemed inevitable given their status in Hollywood, but unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be.

Back in Action starring Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx is just what it sounds like, with stunts and sequences only worthy of a spy duo who also happen to be married and parents to two children.
The Netflix film, which also features appearances from Glenn Close, Andrew Scott, Kyle Chandler, Jamie Demetriou and more, watches Diaz and Foxx team up once more as unofficially retired Quick Reaction Non-Official Cover Operatives for the CIA. They decided to call it quits when Diaz’s Emily found herself pregnant with their daughter Alice (McKenna Roberts), but as their enemies come out of the woodwork, they realize that a mission they never actually finished has come back to haunt them.
While they fend off some intimidating heavies with various dangerous methods that kids should not try at home, some classic smooth needle drops play. The scenes get more and more outrageous from a gas...

After 10 years away from any kind of film or TV set, Cameron Diaz is officially, well, back in action with her new film “Back in Action.”
Now streaming on Netflix, the film centers on Emily and Matt, two CIA operatives who learn they’re having a baby together. Shortly thereafter, their plane home is compromised and crashes, giving them the opportunity to fake their deaths and go off the grid to raise their family as civilians.
Of course, secret past lives can’t always stay secret forever. When theirs catches up with them, the now-parents are forced onto a new mission, this time bringing their kids along.
If you’re here though, you probably know all that. You probably also know that the film has an 11-minute credit sequence, which you might not have watched, and you’re just looking for the songs in the film. Well, we’ve got you.

There’s a reason we keep coming back to the heist movie genre, again and again and again. That’s because although most movies would have you believe that committing crimes is bad, we can’t help but respect a character who does it well. Robbing a little old lady on the street is unforgivable, sure, but robbing a wealthy old lady who keeps her hoard of ill-gotten money in an impenetrable vault surrounded by lasers and mercenaries? You gotta respect the moxie of anybody who even tries. And if they succeed, well dang, good for them. It sounds like they earned every penny.
There’s no shortage of classic heist movies, but with income inequality on our minds, and billionaires actively destroying everything decent about this planet every single day, the genre seems particularly alluring in the 21st century. Maybe that’s why we’ve had so many classic...

John Wayne was quite public about his feelings towards his 1965 Western with Dean Martin titled The Sons Of Katie Elder. While not often considered among John Wayne's best movies, The Sons of Katie Elder earned a critic score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. Wayne stars as John Elder, one of four brothers who reunite in their hometown of Texas for their mother's funeral. The film was shot entirely in Mexico but takes place in northeast Texas, east of Dallas.
Directed by Henry Hathaway, The Sons of Katie Elder was released in theaters in Panavision on June 24, 1965, and was distributed by Paramount Pictures. Wayne had just come off starring in Otto Preminger's In Harm's Way and George Stevens' The Greatest Storey Ever Told, which were both released in early 1965. Dean Martin, who was also a successful singer and comedian, was just coming off 1964's Kiss Me, Stupid and Robin and the 7 Hoods.

Throughout the 1970s, audiences couldn’t get enough of disaster movies. The decade began with the all-star blockbuster bomb-on-a-plane thrill ride Airport, based on Arthur Hailey’s best-seller. Burt Lancaster, Dean Martin, Maureen Stapleton, Van Heflin, Jean Seberg, and Jacqueline Bisset headlined Airport, which became the second-biggest box-office hit of the year and earned nine Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, and winning Best Supporting Actress for Hayes. Airport also established the template for subsequent movies: trapping all-star casts on a plane, a ship, or a high-rise.

Jonah Hill’s rise to stardom in Hollywood was a coming-of-age comedy that still rules as one of the best comedy films of the 2000s, Superbad.
The film saw three teenagers, played by Hill, Michael Cera, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse, making plans to party and lose their virginity before their high school graduation. Interestingly, Hill found his debutant co-star Mintz-Plasse annoying to film with.

Writers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg based the characters of Hill and Cera on themselves during their senior year, hence the characters were named Seth and Evan. Rogen and Goldberg started developing the script in 2000 and it took seven years for them to see their vision on the screen.

Deadline’s Read the Screenplay series spotlighting the scripts fueling the year’s most talked-about movies continues with Better Man, Paramount’s musical biopic based on the true story of the meteoric rise, dramatic fall and resurgence of British pop superstar Robbie Williams. The script was penned by Simon Gleeson, Oliver Cole and Michael Gracey.
Gracey directs the uniquely personal film about Williams, capturing his wit, resilience, and extraordinary journey. From boyband stardom with Take That to a record-shattering solo career, the film explores the highs and lows of his success. And only Williams could get away with telling his life story through the unique lens of a chimpanzee, a truly unexpected perspective that distinguishes this biopic from others.
Gracey explains the inspiration for portraying Williams as a monkey came from Robbie himself.

Those immortal lyrics from Paul Francis Webster kick off one of the loveliest scenes in movie history, from one of the greatest Westerns of all time: When Dean Martin and Ricky Nelson sing “My Rifle, My Pony, and Me” in “Rio Bravo” — a glorious moment when the plot of the movie more or less comes to a halt and you just spend some time hanging out with these characters and the extraordinary talents inhabiting them. Some double acts have made such an impact that they'll never be forgotten. Laurel and Hardy, Lemon and Matthau, and Key and Peele have etched their names in the history books, some of the best pairings of Hollywood's Golden Age. Then, there are those lesser-known Golden Age Hollywood actors who have created some fantastic moments together but can live in a hazy memory that gets revisited from time to time. Bing Crosby and Bob Hope were enormous stars in their own right, and are probably most remembered for their solo achievements. Crosby's White Christmas gets replayed every year around the holidays, and Hope is still considered one of the best Academy Awards hosts in history.

It’s that special time of year when holiday music gets played 24/7, to the joy of Christmas fanatics, and the existential horror of every single person working in the customer service industry.
But while we’ll no doubt be hearing a lot of Mariah Carey, Bing Crosby and (shudder) Jimmy Fallon this year, one name that hasn’t become synonymous with holiday music is Eric Idle.
The Monty Python star recently alluded to this fact on social media, bemoaning that Spotify has seen a spike in streams for Paul McCartney’s “Wonderful Christmastime” but not his own seasonal track. Of course, that could have something to do with the fact that Idle’s holiday song features the less than savory title: “Fuck Christmas.”

James Bond is one of the most celebrated characters in the literary and cinematic world alike. The adventures of the suave British spy have entertained audiences for decades. To play the role of James Bond on screen is a highly coveted opportunity among actors. And since the release of the first Bond film, Dr. No in 1962, only six actors have officially played 007 in the Eon Productions franchise. And they will go down in history for having played the icon that is James Bond.
However, the lineup of “actors who have played James Bond” would have looked very different, had things gone differently in some places. Many desperately sought the role; while the number of actors who were offered and almost chosen to play the MI6 agent and decided not to, is not small either.

Earl Holliman, the actor best known for playing Angie Dickinson’s boss on the 1970s NBC cop drama Police Woman, has died. He was 96.
Holliman died Monday in hospice care at his home in Studio City, his spouse, Craig Curtis, told The Hollywood Reporter.
Holliman won a best supporting actor Golden Globe for portraying Katharine Hepburn’s girl-crazy kid brother in The Rainmaker (1956) — he beat out Elvis Presley for the role — and then appeared in another Burt Lancaster film, as Wyatt Earp’s assistant in Gunfight at the O.K. Corral (1957).

If you’re an awards watcher, you might have noticed that this year’s Oscar season discourse feels a bit more…rabid than usual. You know a comedian had a dark side when he made an entire movie about a clown who witnesses and participates in the Holocaust and that’s still not the most disturbing decision he ever made.
Like too many of his contemporaries, the so-called “King of Comedy” wasn’t exactly chivalrous when it came to his treatment of women or his subjects. In fact, when Jerry Lewis was asked which female comedians he admired at the Aspen U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in 1998, he infamously responded, “I don’t like any female comedians. A woman doing comedy doesn’t offend me but sets me back a bit. I, as a viewer, have trouble with it. Andrew Stevens pays loving but not hagiographic tribute to his late mother, famed actress Stella Stevens, in his documentary recently showcased at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival. The film convincingly makes the case that its subject, best known for her performances in such pictures as The Poseidon Adventure and The Nutty Professor, is severely underrated, both as an actress and social activist. Stella Stevens: The Last Starlet aims to rectify that perception and, thanks to numerous clips of her work and effusive commentary by the likes of Quentin Tarantino and Vivica A. Fox, it succeeds beautifully.
The filmmaker (who appears frequently) admits that his relationship with his mother was rocky, to say the least, in the early years. Born in Yazoo City, Mississippi, Stevens got married at age 16 and had Andrew, her first and only child, six months later. The marriage soon dissolved, and when she moved to Hollywood to pursue an acting career,...

The new Christmas-themed action movie Red One features an awesome soundtrack to support its stacked cast of A-list stars. However, under the mask of action stars like The Rock and Chris Evans, Red One's ending proves that it's a spirited holiday movie, which can only be done properly with classics from the likes of Dean Martin and Mariah Carey. Their songs...

Seth MacFarlane is most famous for creating (and voice acting in) crass comedy cartoons like "Family Guy" and "American Dad." His love for animation was sparked by primetime TV's first cartoon sitcom, "The Flintstones," but animation is not MacFarlane's only passion -- he also loves show tunes and musicals.
Indeed, MacFarlane's all-time favorite movie is "The Sound of Music," Robert Wise's 1965 musical epic starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer. As he put it to Wired when revealing his favorite film, "Can you believe that? Who would've thought? 'The Sound of motherf***ing Music.'"
"The Sound of Music" adapted the 1959 stage musical of the same name, which itself was based on the true story of the Austrian Von Trapp family, a family of singers who escaped their Nazi-conquered homeland in 1938. Andrews plays the future Mrs. Von Trapp, Maria. Initially a free-spirited nun sent to be a governess to Captain...

The 1960s were a great time for stylish heist movies, with many classics which are still loved by fans decades later. The heist genre initially sprung out of film noir, but it gradually developed its own identity, and it came to encompass romantic comedies, action thrillers and even spy movies. The 1960s marked a boom for the genre, after films like Rififi and The Killing brought about a new wave of enthusiasm in the 1950s.
Heist movies in the 1970s got much grittier and darker, in line with the trends of New Hollywood. By contrast, the 1960s delivered some more stylish and lighthearted capers, such as Ocean's 11 and How to Steal a Million. This era was defined by suave thieves pulling off intricately plotted heists, and there wasn't much of the violence and bloodshed that's usually associated with crime movies.

As The Voice finished its Season 26 Battles Monday night, we got one duet after another that would’ve barely qualified as a Tiff. But toward the end of the evening, things picked up in a big way, ultimately leaving us high from a face-off that that was a genuine knockout. Read on, and we’ll discuss all of the showdowns…

Frank Sinatra delivered some of the most compelling renditions of music in the 20th century. One of his best known was his 1960s masterpiece, “Strangers in the Night.” However, Old Blue Eyes wasn’t that fond of that particular piece of music. He called it “a piece of s***.”
‘Strangers in the Night’ was a hit single and album by Frank Sinatra
Strangers in the Night was a 1966 studio album by Frank Sinatra. The title track was released as a single that same year and hit number one on Billboard’s Hot 100 and Easy Listening Charts.
Far Out Magazine reported that Sinatra hated it when his songs became too popular. This was the case with “Strangers in the Night” which the singer called “a piece of s***” and “the worst f***ing song I’ve ever heard.”

Shirley MacLaine is making a ghastly racket. It sounds like a combination of retching and the “aack” noise that the protagonist of that old “Cathy” comic strip used to make whenever she was nauseated, horrified, infuriated or you name it. We’re discussing an encounter that MacLaine had with Donald Trump in the ’80s, when she went to look at an apartment in one of his buildings. “In his head, I could see he was undressing himself and me, and I got out of there very fast,” MacLaine writes in her new book, “The Wall of Life: Pictures and Stories From This Marvelous Lifetime.”
MacLaine is even more animated when I ask her what she made of the real estate developer turned Maga leader. “Did you hear me shriek?” she asks. “I think that says it all.” She pauses for dramatic effect before delivering a final, emphatic: “Yuck!”
Even at 90, MacLaine,...

It’s a well-established fact that the respective creators of South Park and Family Guy hate each other, and that’s to be expected — theater geeks just love drama.
The animated comedy community is rife with rivalries, and some are much friendlier than others. Ever since the Golden Age of Warner Bros. and Disney, the cartoon business has always had a healthy spirit of competition between the power players that can occasionally spill over into ugly acrimony — like how Seth MacFarlane responded to a Simpsons gag about Peter Griffin being a clone of Homer by having Quagmire straight up sexually assault Marge and murder her family. However, MacFarlane’s most heated and most personal feud somehow isn’t with the predecessor series to which his Family Guy is so often compared, but with the outspoken creative duo of Trey Parker and Matt Stone who made their feelings about MacFarlane’s...

Ashton Kutcher and Sean “Diddy” Combs were friends for years. While Kutcher has reportedly come to regret their association following allegations of abuse against Diddy, he spoke highly of the hip hop mogul when they were friends. Diddy even wanted to form a new Rat Pack with the actor. As a result, Kutcher began referring to him as Frank.

Kutcher and Diddy were good friends. At a dinner in 2003, Diddy told Kutcher he wanted to start a modern Pack, modeling themselves after A-listers in the 1960s, like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis Jr. Diddy claimed the role of Sinatra for himself and told Kutcher he could be Martin.
The personas stuck. In an interview, Kutcher even referred to Diddy as Frank.

It hardly needs repeating, but director John Carpenter is known for making multiple horror classics, including "Halloween," "The Fog," "Christine," "The Thing," "Prince of Darkness," "In the Mouth of Madness" and "Vampires." Although Carpenter doesn't have a notable, recognizable style or motif in his filmography (apart from recurring actors) he does seem to possess a subtle, natural mastery of filmmaking craft that makes all his films, even the bad ones, imminently watchable.
Carpenter loves horror, of course, but oddly, he's not a horror guy at heart. He possesses an old-world workman's attitude when it comes to filmmaking, just sort of sussing out, by instinct, how to shoot a scene, regardless of genre. Carpenter has given multiple interviews where he's talked about monster movies and sci-fi flicks that inspired him, but moreso, Carpenter talks about the films of John Ford and Howard Hawks, two American filmmakers best known for their high-profile Westerns.

Michael Bublé revealed that he made jazz his own by “emulating and copying” other artists. The singer modernized the genre and made it popular again. How did he do it?
“Sway” With Michael Bublé
Michael Bublé is a Canadian singer and songwriter. He is well known for her Christmas music. In addition, he is known for his jazz music like “Sway” and “Feeling Good.” However, he is flexible as recently did a song with Jason Derulo, “Spicy Margarita.”
Married to Luisana Lopilato since 2011, the two have four kids together and the singer has mentioned before how important his family is to him. Both he and his wife have previously paused their careers for his son, Noah when he was struggling with liver cancer.

After Killers of the Flower Moon, Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio's next movie collaboration was set to be a homerun, yet recent news hints that the movie may never happen, just like another Scorsese collab. From movies like Goodfellas to The Departed, Martin Scorsese has become the type of director where audiences anticipate their next project. Whatever it is Scorsese has planned, there is a good chance it will be a hit. However, despite his success, Scorsese is just as susceptible to development issues as any other director. Therefore, some of his best ideas may never hit the big screen.
One particularly exciting idea that Scorsese revealed during an interview with Variety was a biopic about Frank Sinatra. Sinatra was a beloved and well-known singer throughout the mid-20th century, who originated songs such as My Way, Fly Me To The Moon, and That's Life. Notably, Scorsese already had...

After 2018's Ocean's 8 proved the franchise still had potential, demand has been high for Oceans 14. Oceans Eleven was a remake of the 1960 original, featuring Rat Packers Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis, Jr. The 2001 version by director Steven Soderbergh was a slick, stylish affair with a similarly all-star cast, where George Clooneys Danny Ocean led a team that included Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, and Elliott Gould on a daring heist.
The success of Oceans Eleven led to two further sequels, with the franchise calling it a day after 2007s Oceans Thirteen. Award-winning director Bong Joon Ho is releasing a new sci-fi film called “Mickey 17” in January 2025. The movie stars Robert Pattinson in the title role of Mickey Barnes, an “Expendable” sent to help colonize the icy planet Niflheim. What makes Mickey unique is that he continuously dies in the name of science, with his memories and body replicated each time.
The movie is based on Edward Ashton’s novel “Mickey 7.” The first trailer provides a glimpse at Mickey enduring various violent deaths. It shows Pattinson bringing his intense acting style to portray multiple versions of the same character. As more Mickey clones coexist, chaos and excitement reportedly ensue.
Bong is known for blending social commentary with dark humor in movies like “Snowpiercer” and “Okja.” “Mickey 17” appears to examine themes of identity and human worth in a futuristic setting. The director sweeps last year’s Academy Awards for “Parasite” and...

Robert Pattinson dies, and dies, and dies in the new trailer for Bong Joon-ho’s latest project “Mickey 17.”
Based on the 2022 novel “Mickey7” by Edward Ashton, the sci-fi thriller follows a down-on-his-luck Mickey (Pattinson), who signs up to die without reading the fine print. Mickey has donated his life to science, testing the limits of human nature and capabilities. But when one version of him dies, a clone is created in its place, retaining most of his memories and prepared to take on the next deadly mission.
Here’s a bit of what happens: Mickey drowns in lava, gets his hand chopped off in outer space and freezes to death, as Dean Martin’s “Ain’t’ That a Kick in the Head” plays brightly in the background, hinting at the tone of Bong’s forthcoming project.

What do you do after you've won the Oscar for Best Picture? If you're Bong Joon-ho, you get right back to work to make another banger, and choose to make it potentially weirder and more studded with Hollywood stars than anything you've made before. The first full trailer for Bong's "Parasite" follow-up "Mickey 17" is finally here, and his adaptation of Edward Ashton's trippy sci-fi novel, "Mickey7," looks great — darkly funny, unnerving, and, yes, trippy.
The first sneak peek of the new movie came over a year ago, in December 2022. At that point, "Mickey 17" was due to hit theaters by early 2024, but it was subsequently delayed by what The Hollywood Reporter previously referred to "post-strike production shifts," which no doubt gave the movie's team more time to make it as sharp and cinematic as possible in post-production.

The late James Darren was a key part of my favorite Star Trek: Deep Space Nine moment. Darren passed away on September 2, 2024, at 88 years old. James, or Jimmy as his friends and loved ones knew him, played Vic Fontaine, DS9's holographic crooner and proprietor of Vic's Las Vegas Lounge. In Star Trek: Deep Space Nine season 7, Vic Fontaine and Captain Benjamin Sisko (Avery Brooks) performed together, and it's a scene that's near and dear to my heart.

Not unlike that of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin, whose off-screen friendship raised the bar on their on-screen chemistry across several Rat Pack films, George Clooney and Brad Pitt’s smooth-operating, cross-demographic appeal speaks to a timeless allure. Theirs is a brand of debonair masculinity that seems to only exist in the Hollywood imaginary, and it’s one that writer-director Jon Watts’s action comedy Wolfs is content to lazily coast on.
The witty repartee between Clooney and Pitt’s characters, two professional fixers who find themselves hired for the same job, feels like the only thing holding the film together. Scene after scene finds the men trying to exercise their masculinist domination over each other—a dick-wagging contest that grows old fast. The ventriloquist act that opens for Adam Sandler in his new special Love You is working hard to win over the crowd. “How’s he doing?” Sandler asks a world-weary guy operating the theater audio board.
“He’s doing good,” the guy croaks in unconvincing fashion.
