A trio of entertainment veterans — Lloyd Braun, Sarah Bremner and Noah Oppenheim — have come together to form independent production studio Prologue Entertainment, with an investment from Jeff Zucker and RedBird Capital Partners.

Prologue, with offices in New York and L.A., is set up to develop and produce premium scripted series and film content, and will house existing projects that are already under way. According to the company, it will be able to finance and co-finance productions. Braun, a longtime TV exec, most recently was chairman of WME; Bremner is a former Netflix film executive and most recently served as president of Ava DuVernay’s Array Filmworks; and Oppenheim was formerly president of NBC News.

The amount of RedBird Capital’s investment in Prologue is not being disclosed. RedBird’s investment will be overseen by Zucker, the former CEO of CNN who is an operating partner at RedBird.

The death of George Joseph Kresge Jr., also known as The Amazing Kreskin, has shocked the entertainment world. He died on Tuesday, aged 89, at his home in Caldwell, New Jersey. Kreskin was a well-known mentalist who entertained audiences for decades and became a pop culture figure.

Throughout his career, Kreskin has stressed his approach to entertainment. “I’m not a psychic, occultist, or fortune teller,” he frequently declared. “I am a scientist, a researcher in suggestion and ‘extrasensory’ perceptions.” His defining feat was locating his concealed performance check, which became legendary. Kreskin claimed he would not get paid if he couldn’t find it, and he found checks in unexpected locations like a turkey, a fire hose, and even inside a volunteer’s mouth.

The Amazing Kreskin, the renowned mentalist who had his own TV program, inspired a John Malkovich movie and (perhaps) a Johnny Carson character and performed hundreds of live shows a year, died Tuesday. He was 89.

Kreskin died at his home in Caldwell, New Jersey, his manager, Ryan Galway, told The Hollywood Reporter.

Just what was Kreskin’s talent? “I am not a psychic, an occultist or fortune-teller. I am not a mind-reader, medium or hypnotist. Netflix may have gotten 60 million households to watch its fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson, but it did not reveal how many of those households were cursing the streaming service in frustration as they endured buffering issues while trying to watch the heavily promoted clash.

Howard Stern is warning the streamer to get its act together before it attempts to stream two marquee NFL games on Christmas Day.

Ahead of Charli Xcx’s Saturday Night Live hosting debut this weekend, the singer bantered with castmember Marcello Hernández in a new promo.

A decision by some cable companies to stop supporting the CableCARD technology has impacted celebrities who are fans of the TiVo service — and no celebrity has made a bigger stink about the situation than the most-famous radio personality in the world.

During his show on Wednesday, SiriusXM’s Howard Stern complained that the cable TV provider serving his home area had dropped their support for TiVo, a move he felt could effectively end the company.

Stern didn’t name the company, but one of the service providers in the greater New York City area is Optimum, which formerly offered cable TV and Internet products under the Cablevision brand. In October, Optimum’s parent company Altice USA said it would stop supporting CableCARD technology.
