Andor season 2 is only five months away and a new batch of stills offer a glimpse at what's to come as Cassian Andor's story continues (which were first published in the latest issue of Empire Magazine, via SFFGazette.com).
Those highlight almost the entire cast, including Cassian's new look now that he's become a full-fledged Rebel. Stellan Skarsgård returns as Luthen Rael and there's a great shot of him meeting with Mon Mothma as a platoon of Imperial Stormtroopers loom large in the background.
There's also a tender moment between Cassian and Bix Caleen; should romance blossom for these two, we can't help but think it will end in tragedy.
"They definitely do reunite," Adria Arjona tells the publication. "When you imagine what these two characters can go through, just remember that Tony wrote it. So, it’s way more complex than my personal imagination knowing this character and...

At 86, Ridley Scott is on the cusp of releasing one of the biggest films of his career — “Gladiator II” — and already has at least two additional projects lined up for 2025, a reteam with Paul Mescal and a Bee Gees biopic. With no signs of slowing down.
He’s not the only Hollywood veteran who’s still making movies: Martin Scorsese, who turned 82 this year, made one of the best films of his career with “Killers of the Flower Moon” while Clint Eastwood (94) has what might be his final film, “Juror #2” in theaters now.

Gareth Evans’ long awaited new film Havoc is (finally) coming to Netflix in 2025 after delays, and here are the details.
It’s been a long time coming, but the first film from Gareth Evans in over a half a decade is finally set for release in 2025. Getting here has been quite the road.
Gareth Evans made a huge impact on 21st century action cinema in 2011 when he wrote and directed The Raid, which introduced the world not only to the fierce Indonesian martial art of Pencak Silat, but also to Iko Uwais, who dispatched body after body with brutal efficiency. 2014’s The Raid 2 upped the ante on the violence considerably, letting characters like Baseball Bat Man and Hammer Girl loose and featuring quite possibly the best prison brawl this century.
While an English language remake of The Raid remains in development hell, Evans has gradually built up a career this side of the pond,...

Netflix is ready to release a thrilling action thriller that promises to stretch the genre’s boundaries. “Havoc,” starring Tom Hardy and directed by Gareth Evans, will give an exciting cinematic experience in 2025.
The film follows Hardy’s character, Detective Walker, on a desperate rescue mission involving the nephew of the city mayor. When a drug deal goes out of control, Walker must negotiate a difficult urban setting to save the politician’s son.
Director Gareth Evans, best known for his work on The Raid, brings his characteristic high-intensity action choreography to the film. In an interview with Empire magazine, Evans emphasized the film’s distinctive approach. “When it comes to a film called Havoc, we deliver on the action front,” remarked the executive producer. But with Tom Hardy, you also get an intensely muscular central performance with real depth.”
Hardy’s role is set to be more than just an action hero.

If you’re a Tom Hardy fan, you’ve always wanted to see him cause real havoc. Sure, across his career he’s manufactured mayhem, proffered pain, brought memorable muscle – but you’ve never seen him go really all-out. That’s about to change. Next year finally brings the release of Havoc, the new film from The Raid legend Gareth Evans, returning from the high-octane small-screen antics of Gangs Of London, and ready to send Hardy into the hardman stratosphere.
The film has been a longtime coming – partly owing to additional photography that required a cast and crew of booked-and-busy brawlers to all be available. But as Evans promises, Havoc is worth the wait. “It’s had a profound effect on the film,” he tells Empire of the extra shooting. “It allowed me to better streamline it, and make it what it was always intended to be, which is a blistering,...

Diego Luna finished filming his final scenes as Cassian Andor months ago, but Andor Season 2 still hasn't been given an official release date. While promoting his new show, La Maquina, co-starring his real-life best friend, Gael Garcia Bernal, Luna told RadioTimes that Andor is coming, but he can't reveal anything about it.
I can't really tell you anything about 'Andor,' but it's coming out. It's coming out, and it's great. The writing of Tony Gilroy is really powerful.Diego Luna.
Andor was originally anticipated to be released much earlier but is now expected to premiere sometime early next year. Luna will reprise his role as Cassian Andor, whose life takes a dramatic turn after he joins the Rebellion. The second and final season will cover four years in Cassian's life before the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, likely including Cassian's journey to becoming a valuable asset to the Rebel Alliance.

Nobody thinks they’ve got an accent, which means they really notice when someone is imitating their accent so badly that it borders on mockery. For instance, most Americans would describe their own speech as “normal,” but have you ever heard a foreign actor just completely bomb it? If not, go watch Iwan Rheon pretend to be an American rock star in The Dirt, Just his scenes, though. That movie is a lot.
That’s why it’s all the more impressive when they get it right, even if, by the nature of getting it right, you never even notice. “In high school, I remember people being shocked to learn Hugh Laurie was English when House was huge,” Redditor homeMalone89 told r/Movies. “I think Daniel Kaluuya’s American accent work is the best there currently is.”

Australian actress Nicole Kidman began her professional career in 1983 with an appearance in the holiday film "Bush Christmas," and followed it immediately with Brian Trenchard-Smith's very watchable teens-rule actioner "BMX Bandits." She was 16 at the time. Kidman was a striking screen presence, however, and she immediately began a busy career that hasn't slowed since. For six years, Kidman was all over Aussie TV and cinema, with the actress finally breaking into Hollywood in 1989 with her role in the taut thriller "Dead Calm." In 1990, she was cast opposite Tom Cruise in Tony Scott's "Days of Thunder," and her superstar status was cemented. She also began dating Cruise that year, and they married in 1990, staying one of Hollywood's most visible power couples for a decade.
Kidman was drawn to a great variety of projects, appearing in costume dramas, comedies, FX-based blockbusters, Oscar bait nonsense, and bonkers experiments like "Dogville," "Fur,...

“Your next movie is listed as one of the most anticipated horror movies of 2026 — no even knows what the premise is, no one knows who the cast is, no one even knows if it’s been shot already,” Fallon said, attempting to tee up an answer from Peele during his recent appearance on The Tonight Show.
The question prompted a deep belly laugh out of the Get Out helmer, who said, “Yes! Let the mystery swirl. You’re not getting anything out of me tonight, Jimmy!”

“I don’t know the last time I watched so many films! And they’re all amazing, all so daring, so courageous!”
You can hear the excitement in Lee Daniels’ voice. He’s running between screenings in a movie marathon at the Zurich Film Festival, where the Oscar-nominated director of Precious, and co-creator of TV’s Empire, is president of this year’s competition jury.
“I’d forgotten what this is like,” says Daniels, referring to the international art house cinema scene. “It’s a real return to my roots for me.”
Daniels started his film career in the indie world, as a producer on Marc Forster’s Monster’s Ball. The powerful, disturbing look at the American prison system and the poisonous legacy of institutional racism is told through the unlikely romance between a white prison guard (Billy Bob Thornton) and the Black widow of a man he executed (Halle Berry...

There are some stories in the history of film that end up being repeated over and over again. Some of these are just simple categories like vampire, werewolf, and zombie films. Some of them get a little more granular and specific like the story of Dracula or Frankenstein’s monster. Finally, we can get even more granular and look at a specific title that has made the rounds a few times. I Am Legend by the wonderful and prolific Richard Matheson was made into three different movies with Last Man on Earth, The Omega Man, and finally I Am Legend. While King Kong and Phantom of the Opera probably have the most, Invasion of the Body Snatchers has the most consistent offerings. The 2007 iteration was a bust but the other 3 are all incredibly solid. With the 90s version turning 30 we thought it was worth seeing if it was a generic...

Francis Ford Coppola’s long-awaited film “Megalopolis” faced challenges during its opening weekend showing in over 1,800 theaters nationwide. The $120 million production, which Coppola financed himself, earned a disappointing $4 million between Friday and Sunday. This fell short of projections that forecast $5-7 million for its first three days of wide release.
“Megalopolis” failed to crack the top five movies at the domestic box office. It came in sixth place, behind blockbusters still drawing large audiences as well as newer movies that managed higher turnout. The animated feature “The Wild Robot” led as the number one film with $35 million. Even the Indian production “Devara Part 1” outgrossed Coppola’s film, taking the fourth spot with $3.4 million.
Reviews for “Megalopolis” have been mixed so far. On the review aggregation site Rotten Tomatoes, it holds a 49% critics rating based on reviews collected. The consensus finds the movie presents Coppola’s creative ideas in an...

Andor is probably one of the best things to come out of Star Wars, but that doesn't mean it's perfect. While the show received an overwhelmingly positive response, there are certain aspects I'm not a huge fan of and others that I believe deserve more focus in Season 2.
Let's take a look at what we need more of and less of in Andor Season 2.
1. We need more Cassian Andor
Not everyone who liked Andor is a fan of Cassian Andor. Just go through Lucasfilm's announcement of Andor, and the comments are full of fans complaining and asking why a "boring guy" like Cassian needs his series. I saw those, and I haven't forgotten them because they bothered me. I love Diego Luna and Cassian Andor. Above all, I watched Andor for him and hope he has more screen time than all other characters combined in Season 2. I think Cassian is compelling,...

Scott Cooper hit a home run in his first filmmaking at bat with "Crazy Heart," a melancholy drama about an alcoholic country music singer (Jeff Bridges) who's wrecked his life many times over and is about to crash for the last time despite entering into an unexpectedly healthy relationship with a journalist (Maggie Gyllenhaal). The film earned Bridges his first, long overdue Oscar for Best Actor, and though the film itself was a touch formulaic, Cooper's direction of his first-rate cast gave him a reputation as an actor-friendly filmmaker.
Cooper's follow-up was the moody-as-hell crime yarn "Out of the Furnace," which, even with another spectacular cast, failed to connect with critics. Cooper's sophomore effort missed commercially as well, but he was due another shot with "Crazy Heart" not too far off in the rearview, so he took on the gangster flick "Black Mass." Oscar Isaac’s upcoming animated film will explore the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. However, the plot of The King of Kings isn’t that simple. Fans found it shocking that the film has a multi-dimensional theme, where author Charles Dickens and his son Walter travel back to different points in Christ’s life. Isaac will play Jesus while Kenneth Branagh takes on the role of Dickens.

The film is based on a story written by Charles Dickens, which is a promising factor despite the bizarre plot. According to reports, more Biblical figures will appear in the film, voiced by some of the big names in Hollywood. VFX supervisor Seong-ho Jang will serve as the director of the film.

“The Ritual,” the upcoming exorcism horror in which Al Pacino and Dan Stevens play troubled priests, has sold out for most international territories by XYZ Films.

XYZ, which has been quietly growing its own releasing arm on top of its sales operations, is planning a U.S. theatrical release in 2025.
Based on a true story, “The Ritual” follows two priests — one questioning his faith (Stevens) and one reckoning with a troubled past (Pacino) — who must put aside their differences to save a possessed young woman through a difficult and dangerous series of exorcisms. The film is an authentic portrayal of Emma Schmidt, an American woman whose demonic possession culminated in harrowing exorcisms. Her case remains the most thoroughly documented exorcism in American history.

Lionsgate quickly seeks to rectify their controversial marketing blunder from a couple of weeks ago. The upcoming epic fantasy film from Francis Ford Coppola, Megalopolis, is certainly building an interesting buzz. Coppola, a filmmaker with an outside-the-box vision, made a film that studios couldn’t figure out how to promote to a mainstream audience. Lionsgate got the distribution deal and attempted to stay ahead of the negative word-of-mouth by releasing a trailer that featured alleged harsh quotes from critics when Coppola’s beloved past films had come out.
The studio was quickly called out for manifesting these quotes used in the trailer an pulled it from their official outlets. Lionsgate would also issue an apology. “Lionsgate is immediately recalling our trailer for Megalopolis,” said a Lionsgate spokesperson. “We offer our sincere apologies to the critics involved and to Francis Ford Coppola and American Zoetrope for this inexcusable error in our vetting process.

Are ballerina dancers Hollywood’s new hotness? With the John Wick spinoff Ballerina, starring Ana de Armas, pirouetting into theaters next year and the latest indie action film Ballerina Overdrive coming from 87North and Gulfstream Pictures, it could be time for me to slip into a tutu and show my sweet moves to some studios heads. While I will likely keep stretching along a long bar, Uma Thurman is joining the cast of Ballerina Overdrive, an upcoming survivalist action film.
Uma Thurman joins Lana Condor, Iris Apatow, Millicent Simmonds, Maddie Ziegler, and Avantika. Previously, Lena Headey, Yara Shahidi, and Isabela Merced were supposed to star in Ballerina Overdrive but have since stepped away.
Vicky Jewson directs Ballerina Overdrive from a script by Kate Freund. The plot revolves around a troupe of ballerinas who find themselves fighting for survival as they attempt to escape from a remote inn after their bus...

The Academy Awards has nominated and rewarded Denzel Washington quite a few times due to his highly acclaimed performances. After winning his first award, however, he was very tight-lipped about where he put the statue.

Washington famously took home an Academy Award for the first time after his performance in 1989’s Glory. He won for Best Supporting Actor back then, which had been a dream of his since he was working in theater.
“Every young actor wants to win an Oscar,” Washington once said in an interview with Oprah. “Years ago I was in a parking lot across the street from Spago, and I could see the stars with their Oscars going into the after party. I said to myself, ‘I want to do that one day.’ When I was at Fordham,...

So, Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis is going well. Here’s a look back at the problems, crises and controversies around the auteur’s four-decade passion project.
In an industry where things rarely seem to go smoothly, it takes quite something to earn the reputation of Apocalypse Now. 45 years on, Francis Ford Coppola’s war epic is still the go-to example of a chaotic production. Compared to 238 days in a Philippine jungle, hampered by typhoons and heart attacks, the soundstage-set Megalopolis should have been a breeze.
It has not, dear reader, been a breeze. By now, the number of setbacks, controversies and missteps lining up at Megalopolis’ Fritz Lang-inspired doors seems to be reaching near-legendary proportions – so we’ve decided to put them all in one place. We’ll update the list when someone drops the only film reel down a well, or something.
