Shepka Productions and Flickering Myth have officially announced the upcoming UK release of their gothic horror feature The Baby in the Basket, which will arrive on Digital and DVD in on February 17th 2025 from High Fliers Films.

A baby in a basket is left on the steps of an isolated monastery on a Scottish island. The nuns take it in, planning to care for it until a storm passes. Soon though, strange and unexplained events begin to happen at the convent.

The Baby in the Basket has been rated 18 by the British Board of Film Classification for “strong sex and disturbing scenes.”

In May, we told you about a new gothic horror film, The Baby In The Basket, heading our way. In that story, we promised to bring you news of the film’s release and we can finally make good on that promise.

The Baby In The Basket is heading to DVD and Digital in the UK on 17th February 2025 from High Fliers Films.

“We’re looking forward to bringing The Baby in the Basket to UK audiences and hope that physical media fans enjoy our slow burn atmospheric horror movie on DVD,” director Nathan Shepka commented on the news.

Before USA Network became series-focused, the cable channel delivered a steady stream of weekly original movies. Many of which were produced by McA (now NBCUniversal). And during this era — between the late 1980s and early 2000s — USA offered a variety of genres; action and suspense were the most common, but horror also came up from time to time.

Especially around Halloween.

USA Network is no longer in the business of airing these “World Premiere Movies,” horror or otherwise, and there haven’t been great strides to bring all of them to streaming or modern home video. However, the horror entries certainly have their merits as well as fans.

The filmmaker passed away at the age of 86 following a short illness.

Chariots Of Fire actor Nigel Havers leads the tributes to UK film and commercials director Hugh Hudson who passed away at the age of 86 on Friday (February 10).

The actor called starring in Hudson’s 1981 classic ”one of the greatest experiences of my professional life” and said he was “beyond devastated” by the news. “Like so many others, I owe much of what followed to him. I shall miss him greatly.”

Antonio Banderas, who starred in Hudson’s 2016 Spanish-language film Altamira, said on Twitter: ”Good bye mister Hudson.

Hugh Hudson, the director behind 1981’s Academy Award-winning Chariots of Fire, has died aged 86, his family said.

A statement on behalf of his family read: “Hugh Hudson, 86, beloved husband and father died at Charing Cross Hospital on February 10 2023 after a short illness.

“He was best known for directing the Oscar-winning film Chariots Of Fire. He is survived by his wife Maryam, his son Thomas and his first wife Sue.”

Veteran stage and screen actor Nigel Havers, who played Lord Andrew Lindsay in the critically-acclaimed film, told the Pa news agency: “I am beyond devastated that my great friend Hugh Hudson, who I have known for more than 45 years, has died.

"On Her Majesty's Secret Service" is a movie that used to be a punchline, and the name of its star, George Lazenby, a joke. Back in the '80s, there were only two "real" choices for best Bond, and they were Roger Moore or Sean Connery. Bringing in Lazenby was like suggesting that Captain Decker could be up to Kirk or Picard standards on "Star Trek." Yet, over the years, and as more Bond films have been released, suddenly it's gaining respect again. By Rotten Tomatoes rankings, it's even a top 10 film!

Part of that reassessment is that Bond no longer feels like a choice between macho Sean Connery and knowingly corny Roger Moore. We've Seen Pierce Brosnan, Timothy Dalton, and Daniel Craig take a crack, and Lazenby's mix of Connery machismo with a bit of Moore-like humor (and a hint of tragedy) now falls better on a spectrum than into a binary.

Exclusive: James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli has revealed that it will be “at least two years“ before the next 007 movie begins filming and that the task of finding an actor to replace Daniel Craig hasn’t begun “because it’s a reinvention of Bond.”

Speaking to us at a star-studded private event in central London to honor Broccoli and her brother Michael G. Wilson for their BFI Fellowships, Broccoli wouldn’t be drawn on who would play Bond next but did offer an update on the decision-making process.

“Nobody’s in the running,” she disclosed. “We’re working out where to go with him, we’re talking that through. There isn’t a script and we can’t come up with one until we decide how we’re going to approach the next film because, really, it’s a reinvention of Bond. We’re reinventing who he is and that takes time.

One of the unusual things about 1987 is that three of the ten top-grossing films of the year are female-centric. Perhaps two of those films—Moonstruck (about which I’ve written here ) and The Witches of Eastwick—are more correctly called “Cher-centric.” Perhaps the force of nature that is Cher is what made the difference here? Lesley Manville, Oscar nominated for “Phantom Thread,” will take over from Helena Bonham-Carter in the role of Princess Margaret in the final season of Netflix series “The Crown,” winner of several Emmys.

“I could not be happier to be playing Princess Margaret,” Manville said in a quote on “The Crown” Twitter feed. “The baton is being passed on from two formidable actresses and I really don’t want to let the side down. Furthermore to play siblings with my dear friend Imelda Staunton will be nothing short of a complete joy.”

On Sunday 6th July BondStars held their annual summer barbeque at Pinewood Studios. This year the event was themed around Timothy Dalton’s debut as 007 in The Living Daylights (1987). Making his first BondStars appearance was Dutch actor Jeroen Krabbé who played Kgb baddie General Georgi Koskov. He was joined by fellow cast members Maryam d’Abo, Thomas Wheatley and Caroline Bliss.

The day kicked off with a screening of The Living Daylights in Pinewood’s theatre, which has recently been re-named The John Barry Theatre. Director John Glen and members of cast and crew were on hand to introduce the film.

Following the screening, guests signed autographs and chatted with fans. Cinematographer Alec Mills launched and signed copies of his new autobiography ‘Shooting 007 and other Celluloid Adventures.’

Former pop star and pin-up Samantha Fox is to join the stars of Harry Potter, Primeval, Doctor Who and James Bond at the upcoming McM Birmingham Comic Con & Memorabilia on March 16 and 17.

The Comic Con and Memorabilia events are held side by side at the NEC, Birmingham. Comic Con visitors get into Memorabilia free of charge. Children under 10 get in free if accompanied by a paying adult.

After 1985's A View to a Kill, the search was on for an actor to replace Roger Moore as James Bond, and both Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan were up for the part. As it turned out, both would eventually play 007, but Dalton took over first when Brosnan wasn't able to leave his contract for the TV show Remington Steele.

Based on a short story by Ian Fleming, The Living Daylights was the first of two Bond movies featuring Dalton, and the most well-reviewed of the two. The Living Daylights finds Bond assigned to aid a Soviet defector (Jeroen Krabbe), and turns to his cellist girlfriend (Maryam D'Abo) after he is abducted again. The movie not only returned to franchise to financial success, but brought Bond back behind the wheel of an Aston Martin, the signature vehicle which was lost in the Moore era.

Timothy Dalton's monogamous, deadpan 007 brings a more nuanced interpretation to the central character, whose relationships evolve in ways rarely seen in the earlier films

With apologies to Vesper Lynd, if the only thing left of The Living Daylights was Maryam d'Abo's smile and the taut early sequence that culminates with Timothy Dalton's 007 deliberately missing a shot at cellist turned sniper Kara Milovy, it would still be my favourite Bond film.

Dalton, the antithesis of his wisecracking predecessor Roger Moore, promised on taking up the tux to approach Bond with "a sense of responsibility to the work of Ian Fleming". It was a comment that said much about how far the series had strayed from its roots. Former Bond girl Maryam D'Abo has paid tribute to famed war correspondent Marie Colvin, who died in a blast in Syria on Wednesday.

The Living Daylights actress is a member of the same London social club where Colvin spent time during her stays in the city, and the pair became friends.

Colvin, of Britain's Sunday Times, and freelance French photojournalist Remi Ochlik were killed on Wednesday after a shell hit the house where they were staying in the Syrian city of Homs, while covering the bloody uprising in the country.

D'Abo, who last saw Colvin in London last month prior to her trip to Syria, has spoken out to honour the journalist, praising her as a "real woman's woman".

The actress tells London's Evening Standard, "She was always there. She was totally straightforward - there was no manipulation with Marie, she was a real woman's woman. I call her a hippy - meaning she had no ulterior motivations...

"I texted her (recently) and I emailed her. I knew she was in Syria and I was terrified. I said, 'Be careful, be safe', but what can you say? In Libya, she replied to me a lot, but she didn't in Syria."...

Oliver Parker (St. Trinian's - remake) directs this adaption of Oscar Wilde's classic tale "The Picture of Dorian Gray".

After having his portrait painted by the artist Basil Hallward (Ben Chaplin) Dorian Gray (Ben Barnes) no longer seems to be effected by the ravages of time. However the painting is a different story, Dorian's debauchery is reflected in the ever increasing ugliness of the painting.

Former Bond girl Maryam D'Abo almost died when she suffered a horrifying brain haemorrhage during a workout.

The actress, who appeared alongside Timothy Dalton in 1987 blockbuster The Living Daylights, was exercising at a friend's house in Los Angeles when she suddenly collapsed in agony.

She was found sprawled semi-conscious on the kitchen floor, and doctors later diagnosed a brain aneurysm.

D'Abo's collapse came in 2006 after she suffered months of piercing headaches.

She says, "Although I still felt a little off colour, I decided to exercise anyway... As I started to build up speed, suddenly a wave of heat swept through my head, and I began to feel like everything was in slow motion.

"I went completely deaf, and then what felt like an electric thunderstorm exploded in my head. I fell off the machine screaming with pain. Excruciating, sharp strikes of lightning zapped my brain - it lasted five minutes but felt like an eternity.

"It was the worst headache of my life but somehow I staggered to the main house, screaming for help... As I lay on the kitchen floor, having convulsions, I felt like my brain was going to explode."

Doctors initially feared the star - married to British film director Hugh Hudson - had meningitis. But just days later tests revealed she had suffered a brain haemorrhage and needed emergency surgery to save her life.

D'Abo adds, "When I woke up after the surgery, Hugh appeared in the doorway, having flown straight from the U.K., looking terrified. I had a nine-inch scar on my temple, extensive facial swellings and a hole in my skull. I was lucky to be alive."...
