Moana 2 is still on roll as it surpasses The Passion of the Christ and Spider-Man 3 at the US box office. The Disney sequel has experienced a significant jump from last week, following the Christmas on Thursday. Although it has lost hundreds of theatres, it maintains its strong legs. Oscar-nominated Thomas Haden Church has joined the Season 2 cast of Shane Gillis’ Netflix comedy series Tires.

Co-created, written and executive produced by Gillis, Tires follows Will (Steven Gerben), the nervous and unqualified heir to an auto repair chain, attempts to turn his father’s business around despite constant torture from his cousin and now employee, Shane (Gillis).

In Season 2, after the unexpected success of their big marketing idea, Will and Shane rush to grow personally and professionally without fully realizing the cost of doing business.

Church will play Phil, Shane’s wealthy but immature father. A grown-up version of Shane, Phil enjoys owning various businesses in Florida where he resides, throwing back margaritas and flirting with waitresses.

In addition to Gillis and Gerben, cast also includes Chris O’Connor, Kilah Fox and Stavros Halkias.

Ahead of its series premiere in May, Tires was renewed for a second season, which is slated to debut next year.

Thomas Haden Church has joined the second season of Shane Gillis’ comedy series “Tires” at Netflix.

The show was renewed for Season 2 back in May ahead of the first season’s Netflix debut. Gillis self-financed the six-episode first season of “Tires,” with Netflix acquiring the show as part of a deal that included him getting another stand up special at the streamer. That special is also expected to debut in 2025.

Craig, who stars as detective Benoit Blanc in the Rian Johnson franchise, told Variety that he hopes the upcoming third installment “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery” will get a theatrical release — and ideally for longer than just one week like what its predecessor had.

After the first “Knives Out” film was released by Lionsgate in 2019 and became a box office hit, Netflix made a deal with writer/director Johnson to produce two sequels for the platform. The wild, wild west will soon be available from your couch: Kevin Costner’s “Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1” is moseying over to Max on Friday, Aug. 23.

The first installment of his western series, which he starred in, co-directed, co-wrote, produced and co-financed, details the life of several characters in the American West during and after the Civil War. Costner planned for the “Horizon” saga to span four movies, the first two of which were shot back to back, but after the first film’s box office disaster it’s unclear how the series will continue.

The second movie in the “Horizon” franchise was pulled from its Aug. 16 theatrical release date, after the first film earned only $11 million at the box office its opening weekend despite its approximately $100 million dollar budget. Costner stated that he spent $38 million of his own money to finance the film.

It’s already been two decades since “Sideways” pals Miles and Jack toured the Santa Inez Valley north of Santa Barbara and Miles, played by Paul Giamatti, declared, “I am not drinking any fucking merlot!”

But what did Miles and Jack, played by Thomas Haden Church, drink instead of merlot, which was deemed too mundane for their elevated tastes? Pinot noir, and lots of it! In Searchlight Pictures’ 2004 comedy, which is set to stream on Hulu this fall, the wine-obsessed duo sip and dine at the Hitching Post 2 restaurant in Buellton. Chapter 2 of Kevin Costner’s Western epic Horizon: An American Saga won’t be released in August after all.

Nobody can accuse Kevin Costner of being lazy. He has financed, produced, co-written, directed and co–starred in Horizon: An American Saga, which was conceived as a four film series, each one pushing the three hour mark.

Chapter 1 was released in the UK last month, and the plan was to release Chapter 2 in August.

However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the second film has been pulled from the release schedule. The reason given is the lacklustre box office reciepts for the first film, which took $20 million against a budget of $100 million.

It seems the plan is to encourage people to discover Horizon at home, so anticipation can build for the second film.

As Prime Video's Spider-Man Noir (now seemingly titled Spider-Noir) live-action series sets about casting its supporting players, we may know one of the villains Nicolas's Cage's take on the Depression-era wall-crawler will be up against.

According to Daniel Richtman, a version of Flint Marko, aka The Sandman, will appear in the show. We don't know if this is the character Brendan Gleeson will play or if Marko will be the main bad guy, but we'd say he will more likely be a secondary antagonist.

If the show follows the comics, this version of The Sandman will be a little more grounded than the one played by Thomas Haden Church in Spider-Man 3 and No Way Home. Though he still has superpowers, they only allow him to turn his body into solid stone, making him impervious to injury.

It sounds like the Spider-Man Noir live-action series on Amazon is really shaping up to be something unique! Set in 1930s New York City, this time, the focus is interestingly not Peter Parker. The mention of it being set in its own universe also adds intrigue.

When the TV series based on the popular video game franchise Twisted Metal made its premiere on the Peacock streaming service back in July, it quickly became one of Peacock’s top five original series, racking up 400 million viewing minutes in its first weekend and earning the honor of being the streamer’s “most-binged” premiere. Now season 2 is speeding ahead, and Variety reports that Anthony Carrigan of the HBO series Barry has signed on to play the video game character Calypso! As the casting announcement describes him, Calypso is “the mysterious, charismatic host and creator of a dangerous demolition derby tournament, who invites all assassins, vigilantes, mercenaries and joyriders to participate. To the winner, he offers the prize of making their greatest wish come true, but with Calypso there’s always a twist.“

Anthony Carrigan is joining the cast of Peacock’s “Twisted Metal” as a Season 2 regular.

In 2015, Netflix acquired the indie horror film “Circle,” which saw 50 strangers trapped in a room and forced to decide who would be the one survivor through a series of votes and debates about the worth of each human life.

Nearly a decade later, with the “12 Angry Men”-inspired project having become something of a cult hit, two producers of the film have reunited to create a sequel, “Circles.” Per the official logline, “17 years after being pawns in a cruel game of psychological warfare, the survivors of an invasion face a new threat.”

Michael Nardelli, who starred in “Circle” as lone survivor Eric, and Brent Stiefel are re-teaming to produce the sequel. Devon Graye is writing the film, which is financed and entering production later this year.

Ever since we first learned the title of Rian Johnson's next Knives Out mystery, Wake Up Dead Man, we've had a sneaking suspicion that Benoit Blanc's latest outing might be an altogether much darker affair than his last, 2022's sun soaked murder-mystery Glass Onion. And if our first look at Daniel Craig's southern sleuther in the upcoming threequel is anything to go by, then we may just be right.
