Last month, DC Studios announced plans for a Clayface movie that will arrive in theaters on September 11, 2026. Midnight Mass and Doctor Sleep's Mike Flanagan has penned the screenplay, though no director or star has been announced. 

According to scooper @MyTimeToShineH, a director is expected to be chosen early this month with shooting potentially beginning either at the end of this month or by February.

That's a very quick turnaround, though DC Studios co-ceo and Superman director James Gunn did recently share, "Exciting news out of [DC] Studios today as [Clayface], a Dcu story from a script by Mike Flanagan, has been Officially greenlit. Clayface premieres in 2026."

With the script ready to shoot and the project expected to be a relatively low-budget one, it likely won't take long to find a director and cast (all of whom may already be in talks).

The news broke yesterday that Aquaman star Jason Momoa will play the Dcu's Lobo.

The actor first played Arthur Curry in 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and later reprised the role in Justice League (2017), Aquaman (2018), Peacemaker (2022), The Flash (2023) and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2023).

The latter was poorly received and grossed a disappointing $439 million worldwide compared to the $1 billion earned by its predecessor. The sequel marking his final appearance as Aquaman was no secret but whether he'd get a second chance in the Dcu as Lobo was left up in the air.

Sharing an excerpt from a ComicBookMovie.com article, Momoa announced his casting as The Main Man on Instagram. James Gunn later welcomed him to the Dcu and the trades confirmed that he'll first play Lobo in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.

Tom Hardy is spending another long day on set of his new project.

The 47-year-old Venom actor filmed scenes for his upcoming crime drama series from creator Guy Ritchie on Monday (December 30) in London, England.

Tom was seen wearing an all-black outfit as he and Guy, 56, filmed scenes from the daytime to the nighttime.

According to Variety, the official series description states that the show is “centered around two warring families based in London whose enterprises stretch all corners of the globe and the fiercely loyal ‘fixer’ charged with protecting one of them at all costs.”

Tom will play Harry Da Souza, described as “a professional conciliator on behalf of the Harrigan family.” Pierce Brosnan will play Conrad Harrigan, “the head of a very successful Irish crime family based out of London for whom Harry works.”

This attempt is not the first at bringing the cigar-chomping Czarnian to the silver screen. Previously, Guy Ritchie and Brad Peyton tried to bring Lobo front and center, with Dwayne Johnson eyeing the role in Peyton’s version. Michael Bay also attempted to adapt the character, but the concept stalled before taking to the stars.

Tom Hardy has made a generous move that is rarely seen in the Hollywood industry. The actor stepped in to cover the wages of an entire TV crew after the construction company responsible for building sets for Guy Ritchie’s upcoming series, ‘The Associate’ went bankrupt.

Hardy, while filming scenes for the show in London, learned that around 50 freelance workers were left in a tough spot when Helix 3D, the construction company responsible for building sets, suddenly collapsed.

Yesterday, Warner Bros. and DC Studios shared the first poster for Superman. The movie will serve as the true launching platform for the new Dcu after Max's Creature Commandos, and excitement for Thursday's trailer is rapidly rising.

In the motion poster shared on social media yesterday, we heard what appeared to be composer John Murphy's score for the reboot. Taking its cues from John Williams' work in Superman: The Movie and, to a lesser extent, Hans Zimmer's Man of Steel theme, it's received a positive response from fans.

Based on the actual page views of 250 million monthly visitors worldwide, IMDb's authoritative lists reflect the films and series that fans couldn't stop talking about this year. And despite critical chatter about Hollywood's rinse-and-repeat habits, entertainment fans can't seem to get enough of the sequels, prequels, reboots, and spin-offs that studios are dishing out.

Topping the list of most popular movies is the long-awaited ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ which brought together Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman as two of Marvel's most beloved characters. With a worldwide gross of $1.3 billion, the film passed 'Joker' as the highest-grossing R-rated film in history, giving Disney a much-needed hit from Marvel Studios. Warner Bros. claimed the second and third spots with Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Dune: Part Two’ and George Miller’s ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga,’ starring Anya Taylor-Joy.

On the small screen, the highly rated fourth season “True Detective: Night Country” reigned supreme as the most popular show of the year (and scored an Emmy for lead actress Jodie Foster). Prime Video’s gritty superhero series "The Boys," and Max’s Batman spin-off "The Penguin" followed closely behind, proving the enduring popularity of comic book adaptations.

But even as familiar franchises dominated the top spots, there were some original films and less-familiar IP also crept into the top spots. Oz Perkins’s ‘Longlegs’ and Coralie Fargeat’s body-horror thriller ‘The Substance’ were two indie horror hits that caught fire in 2024. And while the top TV shows are all based on pre-existing IP, there were some fresh debuts, including Prime Video’s video game adaptation “Fallout," FX’s “Shōgun” reboot, and Netflix’s “The Gentlemen,” based on the Guy Ritchie movie of the same name.

Tom Hardy is back on set for Guy Ritchie’s untitled global crime drama on Tuesday (December 3) in London, England.

The 47-year-old Venom star filmed scenes on the water alongside Downton Abbey‘s Joanne Froggatt.

According to Variety, the official series description states that the show is “centered around two warring families based in London whose enterprises stretch all corners of the globe and the fiercely loyal ‘fixer’ charged with protecting one of them at all costs.”

The series was originally billed as a Ray Donovan spinoff, but it looks like that plan has been abandoned and is now on track as a standalone series to debut on Paramount+ in 2025.

An Oscar-winning actress will also be starring in the series.

Jason Clarke has joined Patricia Arquette on the currently untitled limited series on the Murdaugh Family set at Hulu.

Clarke will take on the role as the family patriarch Alex Murdaugh, while Arquette will play Maggie Murdaugh. The show is based on the Murdaugh family story and draws from the reporting of journalist Mandy Matney, the creator of the ‘Murdaugh Murders Podcast.’

Guy Ritchie’s new crime series doesn’t have an official title, but it does have a stellar cast. Paramount+ announced the series will star Pierce Brosnan (Die Another Day), Helen Mirren (1923), and Tom Hardy (Venom: The Last Dance) as series regulars.

Paramount+ describes the project as “an electrifying, new global crime series centered around two warring families based in London whose enterprises stretch all corners of the globe and the fiercely loyal ‘fixer’ charged with protecting one of them at all costs.”
