Since its end in 1997, "Married... with Children" has maintained a legacy as one of the strangest and longest-running television shows of its kind. The Fox sitcom was, on its face, a standard multi-camera sitcom about a dysfunctional family and the colorfully zany characters that breezed in and out of their suburban enclosure. At the same time, it bucked contemporary genre conventions, daring to push the boundaries of acceptable behavior for sitcom protagonists while leaning into the surrealist subgenre -- which, relative to the tamer landscape of TV back in the late '80s and '90s, surely must've surprised some audiences.

Hulu's original series "Tell Me Lies" became a huge and somewhat unexpected hit after its first season released in 2022, and that's probably because its story of a deeply toxic college relationship is just so universal. Based on Carola Lovering's book of the same name and adapted by Meaghan Oppenheimer (who previously worked on "Fear the Walking Dead" and "Queen America"), "Tell Me Lies" splits its timeline in two, telling the twisted "love" story of Lucy Albright (Grace Van Patten) and Stephen DeMarco (Jackson White), who meet at Baird College in upstate New York and carry on an on-again, off-again relationship that ends up creating plenty of collateral damage. In 2008, Stephen and Lucy are carefree students at Baird, but in 2015, they're trapped together at a wedding ... and it's clear that things aren't quite finished between them.

In the Hulu original series "Tell Me Lies" — adapted by Meaghan Oppenheimer from Carola Lovering's book of the same name — lead Jackson White is saddled with a difficult task: he has to play the worst boyfriend anyone's ever had. As a student at the fictional Baird College (located somewhere in upstate New York) who dreams of becoming a lawyer, White's character Stephen DeMarco is odious right from the very beginning ... and his worst qualities are out in full force as he pursues freshman Lucy Albright (Grace Van Patten). Early in the show's first episode, "Tell Me Lies" establishes not one but two timelines; in 2008, Stephen and Lucy attend Baird and carry on a fraught on-again, off-again relationship, and in 2015, a grown-up Lucy and Stephen are stuck attending the wedding of their friends Bree (Catherine Missal) and Evan (Branden Cook), desperately trying to avoid one another.

Dreaming of a Young Penny spinoff? Hate to break it to you, folks, but it’s never going to happen — and Kaley Cuoco low-key already beat us to it. While The Big Bang Theory had us rooting for Leonard and Sheldon’s quirks, Penny brought the heart and hilarity. But the idea of a spin-off focused on her pre-Pasadena days? That ship sailed faster than Penny running out of wine.

During the 12 season run of "The Big Bang Theory," the audience meet the main characters' parents and extended families from time to time — and those parents and family members are usually played by some pretty big performers. Laurie Metcalf plays Mary Cooper, mother to Jim Parsons' Sheldon Cooper, and Tony and Emmy Award winner Christine Baranski also shows up a few times as Leonard's mother Dr. Beverly Hofstadter. Penny's (Kaley Cuoco) parents are played by Katey Sagal (in a nod to Cuoco and Sagal's sitcom "8 Simple Rules") and Keith Carradine.
So, what about Howard Wolowitz, played by Simon Helberg? We hear his mother Mrs. Wolowitz off-screen — she's voiced by Carol Ann Susi, who passed away in 2014, as did the character — but we never meet his dad. According to Jessica Radloff's book "The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive,...

Serial producer Ryan Murphy, the man behind “American Horror Story,” “Feud,” “Pose” and many more, is already sharpening his knife for the third in his “Monster” series, which focuses on serial killers. With “Monsters: The Lyle and Eric Menendez Story” debuting on Netflix later this week (and second in the gruesome collection after “Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” from 2022), Murphy disclosed at the red carpet premiere that next in the queue will be something of a classic—a look at Ed Gein, the Wisconsin killer whose murders in the 1950s loosely inspired the Alfred Hitchcock film “Psycho,” and, when more of the repulsive particulars became known, inspired Tobe Hooper’s “Texas Chain Saw Massacre,” the Buffalo Bill character from “Silence of the Lambs,” and Rob Zombie’s “House of 1000 Corpses.”

In recent years, the rapid advance of A.I. technology has become an urgent concern across multiple industries. It’s helping students plagiarize papers. It’s imitating your loved ones to scam you on the phone. Before last year’s strikes, members of the Writers and Screen Actors Guilds were raising the alarm that stingy studio heads would use it to replace them. Video game performers are currently on strike, in part over fears about A.I.; the Animation Guild could be next. And earlier this spring, one SAG member went public with her concerns about the technology hijacking her likeness.

Eleven seasons and 250+ episodes is one hell of a run for a show, especially a sitcom. But that’s just where Married…with Children ended. So when you find out your show has been canceled after that long, you can probably proudly reflect on all that you’re leaving behind, knowing that future generations will continue to discover your work. But when you get the news from some randos, that might put a bit of a sting on it. That’s just what happened with Al Bundy himself, Ed O’Neill, discovering that Married…with Children wouldn’t be returning for a 12th season.
Appearing on the MeSsy podcast with Jamie Lynn-Sigler and Married…with Children co-star Christina Applegate, Ed O’Neill recalled being back in his hometown of Youngstown, Ohio and finding out that he would no longer be stocking the shelves at a Chicago shoe store. “A car pulled...

Being a major cast member of a hit sitcom doesn’t guarantee a proper farewell. At least it didn’t for Christine Applegate and Ed O’Neill. The former castmates sat down recently to discuss their time on Married…With Children and how they heard about the show’s Cancellation. The duo revealed that Fox, the network that aired the show, never bothered to tell the cast the series had been canceled. They each learned about the show’s cancellation from random strangers.

Netflix’s One Piece Live Action became one of the most streamed series in 2023. Fans were skeptical about the project because of past ventures in this category, but the results were better than expected. Eiichiro Oda handpicked the cast, and Matt Owens, a massive One Piece fan, did the rest. Almost immediately after season one, season two was announced.
With One Piece Live Action season one’s massive success, the fans have more expectations from the second season. Several live-action debuts will happen in the upcoming season, and Netflix is quite particular with the casting. After Dr. Kureha and Dr. Hiriluk, another actor has been confirmed as a side character. The role is of Mr. 11, who barely had eleven minutes of screen time in the anime.

The One Piece live-action has been exceptional with its casting. From the first season to now the second, not a single cast member has disappointed so far. From Iñaki Godoy and Mackenyu as Luffy and Zoro to the recently announced Charithra Chandran and Sendhil Ramamurthy as Nefertari Vivi and Nefertari Cobra, there has been not a moment’s worth of disappointment.

While for some the announcements at first may seem doubtful and skeptical, it is best not to judge talent before it can be perfectly executed. The main cast of the series has showcased exactly that and it would be unfair not to let the new cast members have a chance either. However, there is one character that will appear in future seasons whose perfect live-action counterpart already exists.
