When law professor Tal (Grantham Coleman) enters his childhood home ahead of his father’s funeral, his young son Bentley (Dyllan Yelverton) turns to him with curiosity. “Is Grandpa going to be a ghost?” he asks. No, Tal responds. “So he won’t haunt us?” Tal patiently replies that he doesn’t think so.

As it turns out, Tal will be right on the first count and wrong on the second. MGM+’s Emperor of Ocean Park is not the sort of story in which spirits return to wreak supernatural havoc. It is, however, entirely about the ways in which Tal and his siblings are haunted by the memory of their dad, conservative judge Oliver Garland (Forest Whitaker), in ways that lend themselves to both Grishamesque thrills and Succession-lite angst. But even Whitaker’s innate gravitas can only do so much to fight gravity. Eventually, the drama sags under the weight of its messy ambition.

Actor Adrianne Palicki is one of that select group of actors who has had a foot in both the Marvel and DC universes onscreen. While her DC adventures did not work out so well – she played the title character in an unsold Wonder Woman pilot for NBC and appeared as a villain in an (also unsold) Aquaman pilot for The CW – her time with Marvel was more successful.

It's pretty incredible how "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," a television spin-off of the central agency who brought the Avengers together, evolved beyond its constraints, and became one of the most interesting success stories of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. When it first started airing, a swath of people were ready for it to get the axe after the first season, only for it to last for over 130 episodes across seven seasons.

One of the largest reasons why "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." defied the odds was because of its tremendous ensemble. When you look at the history of how the Marvel Cinematic Universe came to be, the casting of Robert Downey Jr. was viewed as a very risky decision. And now we can't imagine anyone else but him as "Iron Man." It is undoubtedly one of Marvel Studios' greatest successes, and in the years to come, the growing interest in the MCU would help turn more niche comic book titles into megablockbuster hits ("Guardians of the Galaxy").

At this point, the MCU has essentially reached a point where its projects no longer need to prove themselves in order to be successful. "Iron Man" was, by all accounts, a miracle that led to Marvel Studios' domination. When we talk about surprises under the Marvel banner, especially given how quickly folks seemed to turn on it, I would argue that one of Marvel's greatest success stories is one that we don't really talk about as much.

OWN announced Richard Roundtree and Terri J. Vaughn have joined the second season of romantic anthology drama, “Cherish The Day.”

Roundtree and Vaughn will be joining the cast in recurring roles. Roundtree is set to occur as Mandeville “Mv” St. James, a proud, loving, wry-humored former judge and widowed father of Sunday, played by Joy Bryant. Vaughn will recur as Anastasia, Ellis’ (Henry Simmons) soon-to-be ex-wife and the mother of their children.

“Cherish The Day” is an anthology series that chronicles the relationship of one couple, with each episode spanning a single day.

The first season of “Cherish The Day” starred Xosha Roquemmore, Alano Miller and Cicely Tyson, and debuted in Feb. 2020. During its seven-week first season, the series ranked No. 1 in its time period across all cable networks with Black women, households and total viewers.

Entrepreneur and disability activist Keely Cat-Wells is teaming up with major Hollywood figures to urge movie studios to hire a permanent disability officer. Amy Poehler and Naomie Harris are among over 80 names who have signed an open letter being sent across Hollywood on Wednesday.

“If you show the injustice of the system and say, ‘Look, here’s a way forward,’ it makes it more difficult for people to ignore,” says “James Bond” star Harris in support of the letter.

Princ Films has taken international rights to Slávek Horák’s “Havel,” a biopic about the Czech playwright, dissident and his country’s president Vaclav Havel, and will launch sales at the European Film Market.

The film recently received 14 nominations for the Czech Lion Awards, the leading Czech film awards, across all major categories including film, director, screenplay, and all acting categories. It also received two nominations for the Czech Film Critics’ Awards, best actor and actress.

Henry Simmons spent five years bringing Agent Alphonso Mackenzie to life, but the character existed before Agents Of Shield added him to the series in its second season. Mack is a Marvel comic book character first, meaning there's quite a bit of history between him and Shield.

Fans who love Mack might be interested to know that there's some backstory in the comics - and some big differences to the character - that aren't present in the show. For example, the Mack of the comics was a Caucasian man from Texas. There are also a few details that fans might have missed on the show itself.

There’s a lot of fun things that we would’ve never attempted earlier in the show and I’m really curious to see how fans respond to some of those bolder choices.”

We’ve got exactly a week to go until Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns to our screens for its seventh and final season. To cap off the show on a high note, the resurrected Phil Coulson and his crew are heading back into the past in order to stop the evil time-traveling Chronicoms. Trailers have given us a flavor of what we can expect, but this new clip offers up our first sneak peek at the season premiere.

The 90-second clip drops Coulson (Clark Gregg), Daisy (Chloe Bennet), Mack (Henry Simmons) and Deke (Jeff Ward) in 1930s New York. “It’s the Great Depression,” the Lmd Coulson explains. “A decade before Pearl Habor, almost four decades before Apollo 11. These people have never even seen a TV.”

We’ve now got less than a month to go until Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns for its seventh and final season. And to mark the occasion, a new trailer has been released which teases Phil Coulson and his crew’s all-important final mission – they must change the past to save the future. In other words, it’s time for some time travel.

Unfortunately, this trailer isn’t exactly packed with fresh footage. The first minute or so is the same clip which was previously released as a sneak peek at last summer’s Comic-Con. It makes sense to repackage it in this teaser, though, as it neatly sums up the threat that the gang will be dealing with : the evil, face-stealing alien Chronicoms.

The final season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is just around the corner. The McU spinoff show has managed to exceed all expectations and last a whopping seven years, but it’s finally time for the program to call it a day. Not before delivering one last epic run of episodes, though, and this time, the crew will head back into the past in order to save the future. We now have a new promo as well which gives us a taste of their first steps into history.

The 26-second teaser is made up of a clip from the season premiere, showing Daisy Johnson (Chloe Bennet), Alphonso “Mack” Mackenzie (Henry Simmons), Deke Shaw (Jeff Ward), and Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) – who’s been resurrected in the form of a sophisticated Lmd replica, remember – arriving in 1930s New York. 1931, to be exact, as a poster for Bela Lugosi’s Dracula tells us.

After an impressively long lifespan that went far beyond what we all expected, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is finally reaching the end of the line this year. Season 7 of the McU spinoff show will be its last, and today ABC revealed that it will premiere at the end of next month on May 27th. What’s more, a short new teaser was also dropped which reveals the (latest) resurrection of Clark Gregg’s Phil Coulson.

At the end of season 6, Coulson was brought back to life once more in the form of a juiced-up Life Model Decoy. In this clip from season 7’s opener, Daisy (Chloe Bennet), Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) and Mack (Henry Simmons) look on in shock at their reborn friend. “Hey guys,” says an ever-cheery Coulson. And then after no one returns his greeting, he asks: “Why is no one talking?”

ABC is looking to remain the network to beat this summer. 

After earning the title of summer's No. 1 network for the first time in 24 years in 2019, ABC will once again kick off Summer Fun & Games with the premieres of returning series Holey Moley II: The Sequel, To Tell the Truth, Celebrity Family Feud, Press Your Luck, and Match Game.

The network also announced the premiere date for the farewell season of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and a new series from ABC News, The Genetic Detective.

S.H.I.E.L.D. returns for its seventh and final season on Wednesday, May 27 (10:00 - 11:00 p.m. Edt).

ABC has unveiled its line-up of summer premiere dates, including the final season of “Marvel’s Agents of Shield” and “Holey Moley II: The Sequel.”

The “extreme mini-golf competition series” will kick off the network’s “Summer Fun and Games” programming on Thursday, May 21 with its 13-episode sophomore season. It’ll be followed that same night by the fifth season of the Anthony Anderson-hosted reboot of “To Tell the Truth.”

“Celebrity Family Feud,” “Press Your Luck” and “Match Game” will all return the following week on Sunday, May 31.
