TruTV has ordered 10 episodes of Motor City Masters, a competition series that aims to find America’s next great car designer. It’s slated to premiere in the summer. Produced by Bunim/Murray Productions and The Story Lab in collaboration with Chevrolet and hosted by Baywatch and Melrose Place alum Brooke Burns (Baywatch, Melrose Place), Motor City Masters will pit 10 designers against one another to test their limits of design expertise and creativity. The designs will be judged by Jean Jennings, president and editor in chief of Automobile magazine and renowned car designer Harald Belker. They will be joined each week by a special celebrity guest judge. The field will eventually be narrowed to two competitors, one of whom will be crowned “The Next Great Car Designer.” Winner receives a new 2014 Camaro Z28 and $100,000 cash, along with the opportunity to showcase his/her designs at major auto show exhibitions. Due to hit cinemas sometime next year, Human Ignition promises to be a fascinating look at the future of F1.

Presented by burn and the Lotus F1 team, the film is a feature-length look at how the sport could evolve in the next twenty years, and the first trailer below offers a fascinating tease for racing fans.

Human Ignition is a feature length film investigating the future of F1® and showcasing insight from great minds who share a passion for motorsport — from drivers through to designers. This theatrical trailer for the ambitious project has been released ahead of the premiere of Human Ignition in 2014, which explores how advancement in technology and design could affect the sport.

The film features comments from some of the leading minds in the industry, as well as an appearance in the footage below from Harald Belker, whose work as a vehicle designer includes the Batmobile and the Tron light-cycle.

If you are a Hollywood producer and need a vehicle designed that will grab the attention of moviegoers, then Harald Belker is one of the first designers that you give a ring. He has made quite a name for himself in Hollywood with his bold Batmbolie designs (1997's Batman and Robin), and sculpted a stunning future for vehicle designs with his groundbreaking work in Steven Spielberg's Minority Report. Recently, we featured Harald's amazing Superman: Flyby work, and now he has been kind enough to send us his latest contributions for J.J. Abrams' Star Trek Into Darkness and Joseph Kosinski's Oblivion. As for Star Trek Into Darkness, Harald designed Starfleet single seater and Klingon ships. Harald Belker acquired a degree in Engineering and quickly began designing automobiles for some of the premiere car companies in the world, Porsche and Mercedes-Benz. But his career path would take an unexpected turn, when Hollywood took an interest in him. As Minority Report hits Blu-ray in the UK on Monday 17th May, we had the absolute pleasure of chatting at length with acclaimed production designer Alex McDowell. Here, he chats to us about bringing the look and feel of Minority Report to the big screen, and how to go about designing a futuristic movie that genuinely lasts. Here's what he had to say...

Let's start with perhaps an obvious question. Looking back at Minority Report now, what are your thoughts on the project?

There's a few things, really. It was a very important film for me because it really changed the way we worked. An accidental collision of time and technology and opportunity. Plus Spielberg was directing it, which empowered us.
