- In 1989, the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Wyoming hosted The Great TV Westerns: a film program in memory of Ron Bishop.
- Was a Professional Wrestler.
- Ron attended Beverly Hills High and appears in the 1938 Watchtower, the school's yearbook, in the A-10 class. Ron's name was listed as "Ronnie". He was in the same class as Blake Edwards.
- Ron had three daughters. He used the names of each in various episodes of Gunsmoke.
- Ron joined the American Field Service volunteer ambulance corps in WW2. He was in North Africa with the British 8th Army and in the Pacific Theater later. He had been unable to enlist in the military in WW2 due to childhood scarlet fever.
