- Veteran English-born character actress, in America from 1915. She initially acted in silent films made at Ft. Lee, New Jersey. During the following three decades, she carved out a career as thin-lipped, stern-visaged dowagers and forbidding mothers-in-law, both in dramatic roles and as comic foil to comedians like W.C. Fields and Laurel & Hardy.
- Nora Cecil is NOT to be confused with the similarly named Ora Cecil who was a professional leopard trainer and participated in some films in the 1910s with Jack Bostock and His Animals.
