Ali was born and grew up in Casablanca, Morocco... After completing his High School Studies (French Baccalaureat) at "Lycée Lyautey" in Casablanca, he moved to Paris, France. He first started studying Computer Sciences & Electronics at University Pierre & Marie Curie in Paris in 1990 then radically changed direction to start Film Direction Studies at ESRA Film School in Paris .
In 1996, Ali started working in the film industry, with his very first "paid job" as a "video assistant" on Martin Scorsese's Kundun, before starting a professional career as a Second Assistant Director on many US/Hollywood Features such as: The Mummy, Gladiator, The Four Feathers, Spy Game, Black Hawk Down, Alexander, Munich...
In February 2001, Ali joined and became an Active Member of the French Association of Assistant Directors (AFAR)...
Since 2004, Ali has been working exclusively as a First Assistant Director on a large variety of French, European, US and International projects...
Perfectly trilingual (English / French / Arabic), is accustomed to working in different environments and cultures and has gained, over the years, extensive location experience in more than 25 countries around the world...
Ali is a proud Member of the "Directors Guild of America" (DGA) and the Vice-President of the "French Association of Assistant Directors" (AFAR).
