(2006) Starred in the shelved film "Suryamukhi". Starring Ajay Devgan as Painter Raja Ravi Verma and Madhuri Dixit as Shaguna Bai,Directed by Shaji N Karun.

(2013) Arjun Rampal had signed Prakash Jha's "Satsang". There were reports that it was based on spiritual guru Asaram Bapu. Prakash Jha denied these claims in the media. The film's script was not ready and Prakash Jha restarted the film in 2017. Ajay Devgan and Amrita Rao were signed. But then Prakash Jha decided to alter the character and sign Bobby Deol. The project was finally made as "Ashram".

(2008) Starred in the shelved movie "Ashoka -The Great". Slated to go on the floors in early January, the film will be shot in various parts of Thailand, Malaysia, Bangkok and on sets in Mumbai. Santoshi confirms, "Yes, it is true that I am making a film on the life of King Ashoka and we have tentatively titled it Ashoka, The Great. It is a fascinating subject. We have already signed Ajay Devgan to play the lead role of Ashoka. As for the female lead, Bipasha has agreed. My film starts where Santosh Sivan's film ended. I am fascinated by the life and times of Ashoka. I remember reading H G Wells, who considered Ashoka to be the most powerful emperor because of the moral strength he had in renouncing violence and seeking an ethical life for himself and his people. Wells considered Ashoka to be even greater than Alexander and Julius Caesar. It would not have surprised me to read an Indian historian calling Ashoka great. But a British historian recognising Ashoka's greatness? How can I resist the idea of making a film on Ashoka? " In 2001, Santosh Sivan cast Shah Rukh Khan in his Asoka, too, but it failed to make an impact on audiences.

(1993) Ajay Devgan signed Rajeev Kumar's "Guru Chela" to be directed by David Dhawan. Starring Mithun Chakraborthy, Ajay Devgan,Meenakshi Sheshadri .The film was canceled when Rajeev and David had some personal problems with each other. David received a offer to direct a bigger film and lost interest. He told the producer a false story. That Ajay Devgan did not want to do the film. Ajay heard this and got angry and chased David out of the studio with a stick. Later the film was altered and made as "Jung".

(2007) Starred in Shemaroo Films" Productions shelved movie titled "Saamna".The film starred Akshay Kumar , Ajay Devgn , Nana Patekar , Riteish Deshmukh (Role first offered to Tusshar), Urmila Matondkar, Om Puri. .The Music was by Ram Sampath and the project was produced by Keshu Ramsay, The film was directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. The film was based on the fake godman of India.The film was too got shelved for unknown reasons.

(2003 - 2005) Starred in the shelved film, Ramoji Rao's "Mahabharat" Two be made in 2 parts. Starring Amitabh Bachchan was to enact the role of Bhishma Pitamah, Sunny Deol was to be seen as Karan, Sanjay Dutt was to essay the role of Duryodhan, Ajay Devgan would have be seen in the role of Lord Krishna and Arjun Rampal was to play Arjun. Draupadi was to be essayed by Aishwarya Rai. Music by A.R. Rahman, Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi.

(2011) Ajay Devgan signed Shemaroo's film "Winners" It will be an action thriller and will revolve around robbery. Reportedly, the actor was waiting for a script which shows him playing a grey character. When the director duo Abbas-Mustan approached him for the film, he was more than willing to do it. Ajay Devgan was to play a double role. The film was shelved.
