Not even legends live forever. Donald Sutherland, the acclaimed Canadian actor with decades worth of roles and awards to his name, has died at age 88, Deadline reports. He is survived by his wife Francine Racette, who he'd been with since 1972. Sutherland had been married twice before meeting Racette, first to Lois Hardwick from 1959 to 1966 and then to the late Shirley Douglas from 1966 to 1970.

Sutherland also leaves behind five children: Kiefer ("24"), Rachel, Rossif ("Three Pines"), Angus ("1917"), and Roeg. All of Sutherland's children followed him into the entertainment business: Kiefer, Rossif, and Angus are actors, Rachel is a production manager, and Roeg is a talent agent.

Born in Saint John, New Brunswick on July 17, 1935, Sutherland had a middle-class upbringing -- his father Frederick was a salesman and his mother Dorothy was a teacher. However, he was also a sickly child, suffering at different points from polio, rheumatic fever, hepatitis, pneumonia, and scarlet fever.

James Drury, who starred in one of the longest running Westerns in TV history, “The Virginian,” has died. He was 85.

His assistant, Karen Lindsey, shared the news on Facebook Monday, writing that he “passed away this morning of natural causes.” TheWrap reached out to his agent for additional comment.

While his most famous role was “The Virginian,” Drury also starred in Westerns on the big screen, including 1959’s “Good Day for Hanging,” 1960’s “Ten Who Dares” and “Ride the High Country.” His other credits include “Love Me Tender,” alongside Elvis Presley, and “Bernardine,” opposite Pat Boone.

“The Virginian” was based on Owen Wister’s 1902 novel of the same name and ran on NBC for nine seasons, from 1962 to 1971. It was launched by executive producer Roy Huggins and his father-in-law Frank Price, who would go on to run Columbia and Universal Pictures.

Toronto -- Kiefer Sutherland is to head up a new actors conservatory at Norman Jewison's Canadian Film Center in Toronto. Sutherland, the son of Canadian acting veterans Donald Sutherland and Shirley Douglas, will chair the stage and screen acting school to launch Sept. 21.

"I am honored to contribute to Norman Jewison's legacy by offering the Cfc my passion for storytelling, for Canada and its talent," Sutherland said at the Cfc barbecue during the Toronto International Film Festival.

The Canadian actors conservatory will feature performance workshops and master classes with local and foreign actors, directors, writers and producers.

Kiefer Sutherland was inspired to take up acting after witnessing an amazing performance by his mother Shirley Douglas when he was a teenager.

The 24 star had no interest in a screen career when he was growing up, because he didn't want to follow in his mother and father Donald Sutherland's footsteps.

But watching Douglas in a stage play when he was a teenager turned Sutherland's entire world on its head, and he became obsessed with acting.
