Nearly 15 years after the finale, Bill Lawrence understands fans’ reluctance to celebrate the news of a Scrubs reboot.
After Deadline reported that the project is in development at ABC with 20th Television, the medical sitcom’s creator and executive producer responded to concerned fans of the show, which originally ran for nine seasons from 2001 to 2010.
One fan said he “hope[s] this does not happen,” asking Lawrence on X if he’s returning for the reboot. Although he’s developing the followup, he will not return as showrunner.
“Yeah, I will help,” wrote Lawrence in response. “Why would you hope it doesn’t happen? Not a ton of people are working out here. The cast/crew all love each other. And if it’s great you’ll be psyched. If it’s not you won’t watch. Get on board! lol.”

Could viewers be heading back to Sacred Heart Hospital? It certainly seems like a possibility as ABC reportedly eyes a Scrubs revival series involving original series creator and executive producer Bill Lawrence. According to Deadline, a long-rumored reboot is closer to reality with a project officially going into development at the network from 20th Television. Lawrence’s involvement hinged on being able to work outside of Warner Bros. TV where he’s currently working on several different projects, but according to the outlet, the creative managed to carve out a deal that allows him to develop the new show for ABC. Described as a follow-up to the original series, the show isn’t expected to feature Lawrence as showrunner. Following Lawrence’s secured involvement, 20th Television is working on securing the main cast from the original flagship series, including Zach Braff as doc John “J.D.” Dorian, Sarah Chalke as Elliot Reid,...

It would be the understatement of the century to say I’m a Scrubs fan.
My love affair/obsession with the series began shortly after I lost someone close to me. My sister got me the Season 4 DVD to distract me, and I promptly watched every episode so many times that I could quote them by heart. Then, I went back to Scrubs Season 1 to catch up.
I still quote lines from the series to myself sometimes, have favorites from all seven NBC seasons, and am thrilled with the commercials for T-Mobile Zach Braff and Donald Faison do together, but I’m not sure about the proposed Scrubs reboot.
(ABC) The Original Scrubs Had A Perfect Ending, Then Got Renewed
I’m more a fan of the first few seasons when Turk and Jd were interns rather than residents, but the Scrubs Season 8 finale was the perfect ending for the series.

When Scrubs ended after eight seasons on NBC, it concluded with one of the all-time great sitcom series finales — then it got picked up for one actual final season on ABC and had to say goodbye all over again with a new cast of characters. Now, original creator and showrunner Bill Lawrence is returning with another revival of the show.
According to Variety, the series is in development at ABC through the Disney production company 20th Television. Lawrence reportedly wouldn’t be returning as showrunner, should the series be picked up.

Are we heading for a Chocolate Bear and Vanilla Bear reunion? It’s possible now that a Scrubs reboot is in development at ABC, with series creator/executive producer Bill Lawrence returning to the O.R. The promising update about Lawrence’s Scrubs reboot comes after lengthy negotiations with Warner Bros. TV, where Lawrence has an overall deal and four series. After sorting all the details, Lawrence can develop a follow-up series for Disney’s 20th TV and ABC. While Lawrence is on board for the reboot, he will not be the show’s showrunner.
After securing Lawrence for the in-demand project, the challenge of assembling original cast members from the original series can begin. According to Deadline, Zach Braff, who plays John “J.D.” Dorian, Sarah Chalke (Elliot Reid), Donald Faison (Christopher Turk), and John C. Paging Dr. Acula: A much-discussed Scrubs reboot is officially in development.
ABC is in the early stages of developing the project from 20th Television (whose predecessors Touchstone TV and ABC Studios produced the original series) and series creator Bill Lawrence. A reboot or revival of Scrubs has been a frequent topic of discussion among Lawrence and the show’s cast: At a 2022 Atx Festival panel, Lawrence said, “We’re gonna do it, you guys know. If you ever have an excuse to work with people you want to spend time with anyway, run to it.”
One sticking point: Lawrence, who was based at Touchstone/ABC Studios during the original show’s run, now has a rich overall deal at Warner Bros. TV. WB has allowed for a carve-out in his deal to work on the Scrubs reboot, although he won’t serve as showrunner should the project get a series order.

“Scrubs” is closer to returning to ABC. A follow-up of the hit medical comedy is officially in early development at 20th Television, with executive producer Bill Lawrence attached — though he is not set to return as showrunner, TheWrap has learned.
No cast or other details have been revealed, but reports say producers are beginning conversations with the original cast — led by Zach Braff — for a potential return.
The update comes more than two years after Lawrence and his stars first promised an eventual return to Sacred Heart Hospital while at the Atx Television Festival in Austin, Texas.
“We’re going to do it because we’re lucky enough people care. If you’re lucky enough to be able to work with the people you love, run to it,” Lawrence said in June 2022, while Neil Flynn echoed, “We’re gonna do it.”
“I think we all kinda want it,” Donald Faison agreed.

Bill Lawrence is no Superman, but he is currently developing a reboot of his beloved sitcom “Scrubs” at ABC.
Variety has learned that Lawrence is working on a new iteration of the series via 20th Television for the broadcast network. The original series was produced by ABC Studios, which was recently absorbed into 20th TV as part of a restructuring undertaken by parent company Disney.
Lawrence remains under his overall deal at Warner Bros. Television, with that studio carving out room for Lawrence to work with his former studio partners on “Scrubs.” According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, Lawrence will not serve as showrunner on the new “Scrubs” should the project go to series. At this time, no other deals are in place and no cast members are yet attached.

The long-rumored Scrubs reboot is getting closer to reality. The project is now officially in development at ABC from 20th Television after overcoming the main hurdle, securing the involvement of series creator/executive producer Bill Lawrence.
As Deadline has reported, an agreement had to be worked out with Warner Bros TV, where Lawrence is under an exclusive overall deal and has four series. After weeks of negotiations, the Scrubs reboot has been carved out of that pact, allowing Lawrence to develop the followup for Disney’s 20th TV and ABC. (He won’t serve as Scrubs showrunner though.)
With Lawrence on board, 20th TV is moving in to secure the main Scrubs original cast. I hear that includes star Zach Braff, who plays John “J.D.” Dorian, Sarah Chalke (Elliot Reid), Donald Faison (Christopher Turk) and John C. McGinley (Perry Cox). Starring alongside Charlie Sheen and Angus T. Jones, Jon Cryer took on one of the leading roles in the hit CBS sitcom, Two and a Half Men. However, the actor had a significantly lower salary compared to his co-star, who saw a controversial end to his journey on the sitcom following his public breakdown and rant against the showrunner Chuck Lorre.

Would you like a “Scrubs” revival, where J.D. (Zach Braff), Elliot (Sarah Chalke), and the rest of the original gang return, or a “Scrubs” reboot, with a new group of medical interns in the same dramedy format? Why not both? That’s what creator Bill Lawrence is proposing.
In an interview with Deadline pegged to the finale of his Apple TV+ series “Bad Monkey,” the prolific, Emmy-winning producer said that a “Scrubs” revival is “getting really close to being figured out.” Lawrence is under an overall deal with Warner Bros. while “Scrubs” is produced by ABC/Disney, but once that negotiation is resolved, Lawrence is confident development will move forward.
“Big chunks of the creative team behind the camera, and most of it from in front of the camera, are all super invested and excited, so very close,” Lawrence said regarding the current status of the project.

Fans of the comedy horror Bodies Bodies Bodies will be disappointed to learn that the movie will leave Netflix on Sept. 19, 2024. But the good news is that a long list of horror comedies is available on the streaming service to fill the void. And don't miss this year's Netflix & Chills lineup.
Bodies Bodies Bodies and other horror comedies are a unique subgenre of horror that mixes slasher elements with absurd comedic ones. Mixing comedy with horror is nothing new, as Edgar Allan Poe and other writers often combined the two in their works.
Bride of Chucky
Bride of Chucky is the fourth installment of the Child's Play franchise, written by creator Don Mancini and directed by Ronny Yu, also known for Freddy vs. Jason (2003). Brad Dourif returns as the voice of Chucky, with Jennifer Tilly portraying Tiffany Valentine, a role she would reprise in several other installments of the franchise.

The season premiered weeks ago on ABC and introduced a change to the format. Instead of one contestant playing the game, there are two.

While previous Millionaire formats had everyday contestants playing the game to leave with some significant money, the celebrity pairs are playing for money that goes to charities of their choice.

The sitcom fans of the healthcare community consistently cite Scrubs as TV’s most accurate portrayal of the average experience of young medical professionals — including the burnout, apparently.

While Zach Braff said he misses aspects of Scrubs, he admitted the cast was “kind of fried” by the ninth and final season.
The actor-producer-director looked back at filming the Emmy-winning show, which ran from 2001 to 2010, on a recent episode of the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast. He also got candid about the exhaustion the cast felt by the end.

More than a decade after its finale, the beloved medical sitcom Scrubs could be returning to television screens. Bill Lawrence, the creator and showrunner of Scrubs, recently revealed that he is open to developing a revival of the popular series that aired from 2001 to 2010. Lawrence hopes to address issues some fans had with the ninth and final season while also honoring the characters that made the show a hit.
Scrubs followed doctors at Sacred Heart Hospital over nine seasons. The series was praised for its blend of humor and emotion. It also featured fantasy sequences that provided insight into the mind of main character Jd, played by Zach Braff. However, the ninth season focused on a new group of medical interns and felt disconnected from earlier seasons to some viewers.

While the era of TV revivals may not be quite as prevalent as it once was, Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence still feels very optimistic that a revival of his acclaimed medical sitcom will happen.

Exclusive: Picked up to series just a day after the 20th year anniversary of the Entourage premiere, NBC’s Suits: L.A. shares a lot more in common with the HBO showbiz comedy than a Los Angeles setting. They also both feature a main character inspired by — and named after — a top Hollywood agent.
Entourage‘s uber agent Ari Gold (Jeremy Piven) being modeled after Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel is well established and part of TV lore. But it’s little known that the central character of Suits: L.A., Ted Black, played by Arrow alum Stephen Amell, was inspired by prominent CAA agent and former ICM Partners managing director Ted Chervin — and the project’s original incarnation was even titled Ted.

A new rumor doing the rounds online is claiming that the planned DC Studios/Max Booster Gold series has found its lead, and the titular time-hopping hero will be played by an actor who made his MCU debut just three years ago.
According to Nexus Point News, Kumail Nanjiani - who played Kingo in Marvel Studios' Eternals - has been cast as Michael John Carter in the upcoming Dcu show.
How much stock should we put in this? Well, the source has been reliable in the past and seems very confident in their story, so we'd say there might well be something to it.
If it is accurate, expect the trades or James Gunn to confirm fairly soon.
Nexus Point News previously reported that Gunn and Peter Safran had tapped Danny McBride, John Carcieri and Jeff Fradley, the creative team behind the HBO Max Original series The Righteous Gemstones, to work on the show.

Jimmy Kimmel is finally hosting “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” the way it’s supposed to be done — in front of a studio audience. The landmark game show returns with an all-celeb edition for its 25th anniversary on Wednesday night, and although this is the third season he’s been in the chair that Regis Philbin made famous, this is the first time fans have finally been allowed back in the studio.
“I really wanted to do it the proper way in front of people because you like to hear people laugh at your jokes,” Kimmel says. “Also, the drama that goes along with a couple of hundred people watching the action happen is an important part of the show. I mean, doing the show in front of nobody is no fun.”
But that’s what Kimmel had to do in March 2020 when he first came on to host the primetime series’ revival.

Amid persistent rumors that the Booster Gold Max series is in the process of assembling its creative team, we're now hearing that the project has enlisted a trio of righteous writers to work on the scripts.
According to Nexus Point News, James Gunn and Peter Safran have tapped Danny McBride, John Carcieri and Jeff Fradley, the creative team behind the HBO Max Original series The Righteous Gemstones, to work on the show.
If accurate, this may lend some credence to a previous rumor that the team's frequent collaborator Jody Hill was hired as director/showrunner.
Gunn recently shot down a report that production was set to commence in July, but he did reveal that "most" of the Dcu-based shows currently in the pipeline have set their creative teams.

We know that a Booster Gold Max series is in the very early staged of development, but a recent rumor claimed that the project might be quite a bit further along than we realized.
According to the report, filming is scheduled for July, and the lead role has been cast - though there was no mention of which actor supposedly landed the part. Considering it's pretty much been radio silence on the show since it was first announced, this update seemed a little shaky, and DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn has now debunked the rumor.

In the vast universe of DC comics, Booster Gold is a superhero unlike any other. What sets him apart is not his futuristic technology or time-traveling antics, but rather his insatiable thirst for power and fame. After two brief live-action appearances in DC, the fan-favorite character will be making his way to the Dcu under James Gunn.

Slated to have his own HBO Max series, fans have since been busy fan-casting several actors in the role. While Chris Pratt seems to be leading the race, James Gunn recently dismissed the rumors that the series is starting production soon.

DC Studios' "Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters" slate left us with plenty to be excited about, but news of a Booster Gold TV series coming to Max was arguably among James Gunn's most thrilling announcements.
Fans have been waiting a long time to see the time-travelling superhero in live-action, and while Donald Faison briefly showed up in what would become Legends of Tomorrow's series finale following its cancellation, the character has yet to be given the chance to shine on screen (Eric Martsolf briefly played him in Smallville).
That will soon change, and all signs point to Xolo Maridueña's Blue Beetle joining the time-travelling superhero.
A recent Production List update suggested Booster Gold will start shooting in July. Now, scooper @MyTimeToShineH has chimed in, claiming that is indeed the case. Even more exciting, though, is the fact the character has supposedly been cast in the Dcu!

NBC Decides Against Renewing New Comedy Series
Extended Family was granted a pilot episode in 2022. The pilot wound up being a great success and several big names signed up to be part of the show. Some of the names included in the project were Jon Cryer (Two and a Half Men), Abigail Spencer (Grey’s Anatomy), and Donald Faison (Scrubs).
However, when they started filming, it was delayed by the strikes, which went on for several months. They were able to film six episodes before the strikes, leaving the remaining seven episodes left to film once production resumed four days after the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike.

Ahead of next week’s upfront presentation to Madison Avenue ad buyers, NBC has solidified its comedy lineup for the 2024-25 broadcast season.
The network has handed out a series order to the multicamera comedy Happy’s Place, starring Reba McEntire, and renewed George Lopez’s half-hour Lopez vs. Lopez for a third season. Additionally, NBC has canceled rookie comedy Extended Family, starring Jon Cryer.
Happy’s Place, which was picked up to pilot in late January, revolves around Bobbie (McEntire), who inherits her father’s restaurant and is less than thrilled to discover that she has a new business partner in the half-sister she never knew she had. The series reunites McEntire with the team behind her eponymous 2001 sitcom, including showrunner Kevin Abbott and co-star Melissa Peterman. Belissa Escobedo, Pablo Castelblanco, Tokala Black Elk and Rex Linn round out the cast of the series, which is produced in-house at Universal Television.
