On leaving school he moved to London where he became assistant to a top London fashion photographer. While traveling around Europe taking fashion photographs he became restless and joined the Alicante School of Bullfighting but after two terms he was badly gored by a bull and decided that was enough

Before an acting career he was a fashion photographer.

Born in Lucknow, India, the same place as Cliff Richard.
