When we last spoke to singer Chanel Haynes, it was June 2022 and she was still reeling from a surprise call from the Rolling Stones that led to her joining them for “Gimme Shelter” at a show in Milan. Haynes was staring as Tina Turner in a London production of Tina, and had to jet off to Italy at the last minute to make the show. With just 30 minutes of rehearsal, she faced a soccer stadium packed with Stones fans.

Over the past couple of decades, the Rolling Stones have looked for any reason to hit the road besides the release of a new album of original songs. They’ve launched tours celebrating their 50th anniversary, reissues of select archival records, the 2016 covers LP Blue & Lonesome, and their 60th anniversary. Some years they headed out on the stadium circuit for no particular reason whatsoever, knowing a Stones tour is a major event in and of itself.
But after a nearly two-year break from touring, the Stones emerged last year with the shockingly great Hackney Diamonds.

The crowd of celebrities, music industry insiders, and media folks that crammed into the New York City club Racket on Thursday evening had every reason to believe they were there to witness a Rolling Stones concert, but it was impossible to be sure at first. The invitation billed the event merely an “album release party” timed to the release of Hackney Diamonds. We were told all phones and smart watches would be placed in pouches, and “armed guards” and “personal security” wouldn’t be allowed in. “Dress cool,” read the invite.

“The first night is always slightly wobbly,” Mick Jagger quipped as the Rolling Stones kicked off their 2019 No Filter tour at Chicago’s Soldier Field. But there’s “wobbly” and then there’s Stones wobbly—and stakes were high tonight. It was the Stones’ first show in nearly a year—their first since Jagger underwent surgery in April to replace a heart valve. So Mick was extra Mick tonight, as if maybe somewhere deep in that surgically reconstructed heart of stone, he felt he had something to prove. If so,...

It’s been almost a year to the day since we lost David Bowie, but the rock icon and beloved creative force is still foremost in the minds of those who knew and loved him best. As Billboard reports, on Sunday evening, some of those people — including fans, friends and even former bandmates — gathered together to celebrate what would have been Bowie’s seventieth birthday for a three-hour charity concert at London’s Brixton Academy. It was an appropriately rocking and raucous event.
The show was hosted by actor (and close Bowie pal) Gary Oldman, who took the stage not only to emcee the event, but to rock out to a few of Bowie’s classics, including “Sorrow” and “The Man Who Sold the World.”

Tending to promotional duties for her upcoming film "Grace of Monaco," Nicole Kidman headed to "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on Tuesday (March 25).
The 46-year-old actress looked absolutely gorgeous in a button-up top with a black jacket and matching pants as she made her way into the studio for her interview.
Earlier in the day, Miss Kidman and her husband Keith Urban attended a private funeral for fashion designer L'Wren Scott, who passed away suddenly last Wednesday (March 19) at the age of 49.
Among those who were invited to the cremation service at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery were L'Wren's longtime boyfriend Mick Jagger, his family and Bryan Adams.
Former Eurythmics bandmate Dave Stewart played guitar for a rendition of gospel hymn "Will the Circle be Unbroken" and veteran Rolling Stone backup singer Bernard Fowler sang the lyrics.
The ceremony was an hour-long with blessings and prayers, which included poems that were read by...

Los Angeles — For one night only, the Rolling Stones were an up-and-coming band again.
The legendary group rocked a small club in Los Angeles on Saturday night for a minuscule crowd compared to the thousands set to see them launch their "50 and Counting" anniversary tour a week later on May 3 at the Staples Center.
The band kicked off Saturday's hush-hush 90-minute concert at the Echoplex in the hip Echo Park neighborhood with "You Got Me Rocking" before catapulting into a mix of new and old material, as well as their bluesy covers of classics from Otis Redding ("That's How Strong My Love Is"), Chuck Berry ("Little Queenie") and The Temptations ("Just My Imagination").
"Welcome to Echo Park, a neighborhood that's always coming up – and I'm glad you're here to welcome an up-and-coming band," lead singer Mick Jagger joked after the second song of the evening, "Respectable."
Despite clocking in several decades as a band,...

The guitarist has a new solo album and a museum exhibit of his paintings, but he left Keith Richards’ new memoir on the subway (metaphorically speaking) Ronnie Wood, the current Rolling Stone and former member of The Faces, among other bands, has a new solo album out tomorrow on Eagle Records, an indie label that specializes in nurturing the careers of rock stars of a certain age. As the title, I Feel Like Playing, suggests, Wood’s record has a low-key, good-natured classic rock vibe in the manner of many solo albums by good-natured classic rock stars. Not surprisingly, it also has some delicious guitar playing and other instrumental work, by Wood and various all-star guests, including former Face Ian McLagan (and not including any Rolling Stones except for regular back-up singer Bernard Fowler). Aside from being guitarist, Wood is also an accomplished painter, mostly of portraits. As you’ll see,...
