Did George R.R. Martin stop writing TV episodes? ( Photo Credit – Facebook )
George R.R. Martin is best known as the author of the A Song of Ice and Fire book series, which was later adapted into HBO’s Game of Thrones, gaining widespread popularity. Following the conclusion of Game of Thrones, a spin-off series titled House of the Dragon was developed, with Martin serving as an executive producer for both shows. However, his level of involvement has varied significantly.
For Game of Thrones, Martin actively contributed by writing multiple episodes, he has described those episodes as “perfect” in the past. In contrast, his engagement with House of the Dragon has been far less hands-on. Even after two seasons, he has not written a single episode for the series, and it appears unlikely that he will contribute to the writing for upcoming seasons either.

Brian Cox opens up about his regret over calling Johnny Depp overrated (Photo Credit – Instagram)
The Succession star, Brian Cox, blasted Depp’s Edward Scissorhands role, but now admits he went too hard and wishes he could take it back.
“I mean, ‘Edward Scissorhands.’ Let’s face it, if you come on with hands like that and pale, scarred-face make-up, you don’t have to do anything. And he didn’t. And subsequently, he’s done even less,” Cox wrote. Ouch.
But when asked about those words on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Cox couldn’t help but roll his eyes at his younger, more impulsive self. Rocking a jazzy floral shirt (of course), he shrugged and admitted, “I just thought I was being a bit harsh. You know what it’s like, you go for the easy joke. And I went for the easy joke.” Classic case of a well-intentioned roast gone too far,...

Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn supported Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord (Photo Credit – Instagram)
When social media buzzed with calls to recast the Guardians hero, James Gunn swooped in faster than a spaceship in hyperdrive to defend Chris Pratt—and he wasn’t mincing words.
It all started when a X user suggested Pratt should be swapped out for Patrick Wilson (Aquaman) as Star-Lord. The post, which paired side-by-side photos of Pratt and Wilson, simply read, “Marvel. Hear me out. Just… replace him.” That tweet exploded, racking up over 13.5K retweets and 204K+ likes.
Oh. K. Um. But his church is infamously anti lgbtq so maybe address that too? https://t.co/meg8m69FeF
— Elliot Page (@TheElliotPage) February 8, 2019
Gunn, however, had zero patience for the chatter. “For what? Because of your made-up, utterly false beliefs about him?” Gunn fired back on Twitter. “Chris Pratt would never be replaced as Star-Lord.

Everything we know about American Primeval (Photo Credit – Instagram)
American Primeval is all about raw survival, gruesome violence, and a fight for power in a lawless world. Netflix is bringing the heat on January 9, with a series that will make The Revenant look like a walk in the park.
The trailer? Yeah, it’s already setting the tone. Blood is spilled, bodies hit the dirt, and the stakes are nothing short of deadly. Directed by Friday Night Lights’ Pete Berg and written by The Revenant’s Mark L. Smith, this six-episode series takes viewers to 1857, where America is still a mess of violence, fear, and chaos. It’s got all the intensity you’d expect from the guys who brought you Lone Survivor and Painkiller, but with way more grit.
So, what’s the story? Think harsh, brutal, and dark. American Primeval is a fictionalized dive into the bloody birth of the American West.

Johnny Depp opened up about how he would hide from Amber Heard’s violence ( Photo Credit – Wikimedia )
Johnny Depp sued Amber Heard for $50M after a 2018 Washington Post op-ed where she described herself as a survivor of domestic abuse. Though Depp wasn’t named, he claims the article destroyed his reputation and career. Heard countered with a $100M lawsuit, alleging the actor defamed her through his legal team.
During the trial in Virginia, Depp painted a grim picture of their marriage. He described Heard’s anger escalating into physical violence—slaps, shoves, and even a remote hurled at his head. “I would remove myself from the situation,” he testified. “If she didn’t allow me to walk away, I’d lock myself in the bathroom or anywhere she couldn’t get in.”
The actor compared his coping mechanism to his childhood, alluding he learned early on to retreat from volatile situations.

Are Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively skipping the Golden Globes? ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are skipping the Golden Globes this Sunday, despite Reynolds’ nomination for ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ in the cinematic and box office achievement category.
The film, a massive Marvel Studios hit that raked in $1.33 billion worldwide, has been a hot topic, but the Hollywood power couple has decided to steer clear of the awards show.

Reason For Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively’s Absence from Golden Globes
Interestingly, the power couple’s absence isn’t tied to the ongoing legal drama involving Lively’s ‘It Ends With Us’ co-star, Justin Baldoni—at least, according to insiders. The decision, reportedly made well before the controversy erupted, appears to be unrelated to the scandal.

Was Mark Ruffalo Initially Rejected From Zodiac? ( Photo Credit – Wikimedia )
Mark Ruffalo’s journey to the big screen was challenging—especially when it came to Zodiac. In fact, the actor who’d go on to become a beloved part of the MCU was once considered so unimportant by the studio they didn’t even bother to care.
In a chat with High Snobiety, Ruffalo spilled the beans. During the negotiations for Zodiac, the 2007 thriller about a serial killer stalking San Francisco, the studio flat-out told his manager, “Look, we don’t give a sh*t about Mark Ruffalo, we don’t even want Mark Ruffalo in this movie, so you’re going to take what we’re offering you or forget it.” That’s a cold one, no? But you’ve got to wonder—how do you go from that to becoming the heart and soul of a Fincher classic?...

Is MCU’s The Marvels The Most Expensive Movie Per Minute Under Two Hours? ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
In a world where blockbusters seem to stretch on forever, The Marvels just shattered expectations—by being incredibly short. At 105 minutes, it’s not only the shortest film in the MCU but also holds the crown for being the most expensive film per minute under two hours. Here’s the kicker: The Marvels had a hefty $220M budget. With that price tag, you’d expect a sprawling epic. But no, director Nia DaCosta kept stuff brisk.
“I really wanted it to be under two hours,” she told Digital Spy. And that wasn’t by accident. DaCosta argued, “I just feel like there’s no need to have it long if you don’t need to, because one hour 45 minutes is pretty average for a movie.” And she’s got a point—who says...

Paul Rust said in a recent episode of the “With Gourley and Rust” podcast that he saw James Franco “flip out” on a set a few days after he co-hosted the 2011 Oscars with Anne Hathaway.
“I saw James Franco flip out once,” Rust claimed. “When ‘Your Highness’ came out, CollegeHumor was going to try to do some promotion, and the idea was that a group of nerds are playing Dungeons and Dragons with the stars of ‘Your Highness,’ James Franco and Danny McBride.”
Rust noted that “this was literally two days after [Franco] had hosted the Oscars. So he was upset because the reviews were not good. He was in a bad mood.”
Franco co-hosted the Oscars ceremony in February 2011. At the time, he was also promoting “Your Highness,” the David Gordon Green-directed stoner comic fantasy film, which was released in theaters in April of that year.
The comedian recalled that,...

James Franco's career has since taken worse hits than the 2011 Oscars, but it is still a day that lives in infamy. His co-hosting gig with Anne Hathaway was so poorly received it has become legend unto itself, and comedian Paul Rust had a first row seat for the aftermath.

It was more than 18 months ago that we learned John Hillcoat will adapt Blood Meridian, perhaps our era’s quintessential piece of cinema-defying material. What’s eluded a list of auteurs from notable (Todd Field) to intriguing (Tommy Lee Jones) to Ymmv (Ridley Scott) to Dear God (James Franco) had now fallen to a director most, regardless their opinion on his films, would call a journeyman––a journeyman who also earned Cormac McCarthy’s blessing as executive producer and one-time screenwriting volunteer. The time since has seen its author’s passing and (notwithstanding John Logan joining as scribe) little else on Hillcoat’s project.

Moana 2 is still on roll as it surpasses The Passion of the Christ and Spider-Man 3 at the US box office. The Disney sequel has experienced a significant jump from last week, following the Christmas on Thursday. Although it has lost hundreds of theatres, it maintains its strong legs. Scroll below for the deets.
The Passion of the Christ was released in 2004, and it was directed by Mel Gibson. The movie featured Jim Caviezel as Jesus of Nazareth, Maia Morgenstern as Mary, and Monica Bellucci as Mary Magdalene. It achieved several accolades and new records at the box office, including being the highest-grossing R-rate film in the US. However, Deadpool & Wolverine broke that record this year. The movie collected $370.78 million in the US and $241.27 million overseas. Therefore, the film’s global total is $612.06 million.

Saturday Night Live isn't known for controversy outside of an edgy joke or a questionable host choice. But the long-running sketch show found itself pulled into the legal and PR battle playing out between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.
Earlier this week, Lively filed a lawsuit accusing Baldoni of sexual harassment and accusing him of engineering a smear campaign against her. It all stems from the pair's contentious collaboration on the 2024 film It Ends With Us, directed by Baldoni and co-starring both actors.
Lively's complaint argues that Baldoni's attempts to tarnish her reputation forced her to pull out of public appearances and cancel other planned opportunities. Among them was hosting the season 50 premiere of Saturday Night Live.
"Ms. Lively canceled a critical Target corporate event for her hair care company, and she backed out of her scheduled role to host the premiere episode of the 50th anniversary season of ‘Saturday Night Live...

Anyone who’s watched television in the past 50 years is likely familiar with the work of Bruce Vilanch, the comedy writer who appeared on Hollywood Squares for four years, and co-wrote the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special.
One of Vilanch’s biggest contributions to the world of pop culture has been writing for the Academy Awards. After all, where would the Oscars be without one-liners and upbeat musical numbers about Titanic and Good Will Hunting?

Vilanch began writing for the Oscars way back in 1989, and he eventually became the ceremony’s head writer from 2000 to 2014 — which means that he both began and ended his Oscars career with notoriously disastrous telecasts.
The ‘89 Oscars, as you may recall, found Rob Lowe and an actress dressed as Snow White murdering the legacy of Creedence Clearwater Revival, and arguably the medium of music in general.

Maybe Joan Jett doesn’t give a damn about her reputation, but Jason Segel’s was good enough that he basically had his Freaks and Geeks character written for him…and it was unlinked from another.
Like pretty much everybody that was about to enter William McKinley High School in 1999 (or 1980 if we’re putting ourselves in Freaks and Geeks), Jason Segel was a complete nobody. But he was trying to make it in the business, and after landing the right contacts and some minor gigs, he got the chance to audition for what would become one of the best cult classic shows ever.
Speaking with GQ, Jason Segel remembered him vying for a key role on Freaks and Geeks, only to find the powers that be at a standstill. “The Freaks and Geeks script came across, and I read it and I loved it. And I showed up totally blind and cold.

Why Was Margot Robbie & Ryan Gosling’s Barbie Banned In Vietnam? ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
In a plot twist no one saw coming, Margot Robbie & Ryan Gosling’s blockbuster movie Barbie got banned in Vietnam just before its 2023 release. The culprit? The controversial nine-dash line. As per Collider, this U-shaped line, used by China to claim almost 90% of the South China Sea, is a hot topic, primarily since countries like Vietnam, the Philippines, and Malaysia all dispute it.
When Barbie featured the line, Vietnam didn’t have it. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism slammed Greta Gerwig’s film, calling it out for showing the “illicit” line. It wasn’t the first time either—films like Abominable (2019) and Uncharted (2022) had faced a similar fate over the same issue.
But here’s where it gets interesting: Barbie wasn’t just banned in Vietnam. The Philippines was on the fence about the film,...

Jada Pinkett Smith’s No-Nudity Choice ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
Did you know Jada Pinkett Smith has a strict “no nudity” rule regarding love scenes? The actress who brought the heat in Magic Mike Xxl and Girls Trip keeps things covered when the cameras roll. And honestly, we’re kinda here for it. Jada’s boundary is like a breath of fresh air in a world where lines are crossed, and comfort zones are stretched.
She spilled the tea on Legacy Talk with Lena Waithe, saying, “No nudity. That was always the case for me.” Simple, no-nonsense, and it’s served her well. This rule has been part of her arsenal from the beginning—back when she was doing serious on-screen chemistry in Set It Off, the 1996 heist flick that had us all on the edge of our seats. Jada’s character, Stony, may have been stealing cash and breaking hearts,...

James Franco Method Acting Fallout ( Photo Credit – Wikimedia )
James Franco’s method acting obsession got him into hot water during the making of Annapolis in 2006. Known for taking his roles to extreme levels, Franco stayed in character 24/7, even during boxing practice with co-star Tyrese Gibson. This intense dedication backfired, leaving Gibson furious. He was repeatedly hit for real during practice, and after a while, it wasn’t just the punches that were landing.
“I was always like, ‘James, lighten up, man. We’re just practicing,’” Gibson admitted in a 2007 Elle interview. But Franco didn’t have it. The actor was so deep into his role that he couldn’t escape his character’s mindset—even when the cameras weren’t rolling. It was a method-acting misstep that turned the set into a tension-filled experience.
Gibson’s frustration boiled over, and he openly declared, “I never want to work with him again,...

Although Freaks & Geeks only got one season, its female protagonist was blessed with two love interests, thanks to a couple of talented young actors.
Jason Segel recently recalled the audition process for the Paul Feig-created NBC teen dramedy, which ran from 1999 to 2000 with EP Judd Apatow, featuring himself as aimless drummer Nick Andopolis, the eventual boyfriend of Linda Cardellini‘s overachiever Lindsay Weir.
“I was brought in for a callback with James Franco, and we were, as far as we knew, competing for the same part, because at the time, there was only one of those characters,” he told GQ. “Daniel and Nick were just one character at the time. So we went in and we auditioned against each other. They liked us both, and they split the part, and he became the cool one, and I became the goofy one.”
Segel added, “I always felt like Nick was a lot like me.

Jason Segel thinks if “Freaks and Geeks” were fast-forwarded to present day, his character Nick Andopolis would have long ago died while serving in the military.
“The sad answer to where I think Nick is now, in my mind, he gets sent off to war and doesn’t make it,” Segel revealed during a sit-down Q&a with GQ Magazine that had the actor reflecting on his roles over the years. Segel said he came to that conclusion and “was always thinking of playing him” with that conclusion due to the realities men of his age and socio-economic background faced during the 1980s.
Watch the full interview below:
“That was always, like, the threat looming for Nick, and that’s what happens to a lot of men of that generation and socio-economic statuses. That’s how I always was thinking of playing him,” Segel said, adding that the imaginary fate would be pretty on-brand for Nick.

Macaulay Culkin received a lot of fame when he participated in the 1990 comedy hit Home Alone as the eight-year-old Kevin McCallister. This opened several other opportunities for the actor in the industry, and he became an overnight sensation. While things looked good on the outside, in reality, this fame was quite tough on the actor personally.

This mirrored the same issue that many child actors face in the industry, especially when they start out at such a young age. However, Culkin used his fame and the popularity of Home Alone for another purpose altogether. In an interview, he admitted that he used his Home Alone fame to get laid.

Macaulay Culkin shot to fame in the late 80s with his appearance in Rocket Gibraltar. Managed by his father Kit Culkin, his acting career seemed to be on a constant rise ever since, with movies like Uncle Buck, Home Alone, Richie Rich, and more. The father-son duo were also spotted many times in public appearances and award shows having a good time back then.

A few years before Stephen King published his first book, "Carrie," in 1974, he was struck by an idea for a historical novel. After calling this project "Split Track" in his head, King began working on it but soon realized that preliminary research required more time and dedication than he could spare at that moment. Although he abandoned the idea in favor of ideas that were easier to actualize, King would eventually return to this historical premise and tell a time-travel story that loops back to a particular date. This was his 2011 novel "11/22/63," wherein high school English teacher Jake Epping gets the opportunity to prevent the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, which took place on November 22, 1963. As with every time travel tale with consequences, the aftereffects of messing with history are not pretty.
Even a cursory glance at "11/22/63" makes King's initial anxieties about time period-focused research apparent, as his exploration...

Ridley Scott is one of the most respected and powerful filmmakers working in Hollywood, and has been for decades. Meanwhile, Henry Cavill, the star of "Man of Steel" and "The Witcher," is currently one of the biggest actors in the business. One would imagine a team up between these two would result in something major. Well, that collaboration did happen back in 2006 and all it resulted in, sad to say, is a big flop that effectively killed the production company that backed it.
The movie in question is "Tristan & Isolde," a historical epic that was once a passion project for Scott. The director loves historical epics to this day, having recently directed the blockbuster "Gladiator II," a sequel to his 2000 Best Picture-winner. Good things can happen when Scott is in the director's chair. Unfortunately, Scott was merely a producer on this film.

While the big screen is known for its heart-racing thrillers, it seems life is giving Hollywood a run for its money. 26-year-old Ivy League graduate Mangione’s actions have taken the world by storm. Was this a personal vendetta fueled by hatred for the medical community, or was it revenge for the treatment of his sick relative? What made him take matters into his own hands? Well, the suspect may have been nursing a long-standing grudge, fueled by his personal run-ins with the industry, sources said.
Meanwhile, fans on social media are already casting their bets on who should play him in a potential crime documentary—and it seems they...

General Hospital has been airing on ABC since 1963 and just celebrated its 61st anniversary on April 1, 2024.
While many of the actors on the show have remained in their roles for decades, many celebs got their start on the soap opera and eventually broke into the world of film and primetime television.
Stars like James Franco, Chandra Wilson, Elizabeth Taylor, and more have had guest arcs on General Hospital after they were already famous, so we’re not including them here.

It has been two years since the highly publicized defamation trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard where Depp sued the latter over defamatory claims she made in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed. Although Heard won the libel trial in London where the judge stated there was substantial proof of abuse, the US court ruled in Depp’s favor and awarded him monetarily.

Since the 2022 verdict ended the couple’s troubled war in the public eye, both Johnny Depp and Amber Heard found respite in Europe. Depp resigned himself to music and going on tours across the continent while Heard moved to Spain, finding herself a home and settling in among the less chaotic world beyond Hollywood.

Paul Feig’s Freaks and Geeks might have been short-lived, but to date, fans cannot get over it. The teen dramedy, set in a suburban Detroit high school, followed siblings Lindsay and Sam Weir played by Linda Cardellini and John Francis Daley as they navigated their way through two very different cliques, the “freaks” and the “geeks.”

With stars like Seth Rogen, James Franco, Jason Segel, Busy Philipps, Samm Levine, and Martin Starr, the show brought humor, heart, and authenticity to teenage life. Despite critical acclaim and a devoted fanbase, NBC canceled the series after airing only 12 of its 18 episodes, citing low ratings. Over time, Freaks and Geeks earned cult status as one of the best TV shows ever.
With just one season, viewers were left wanting more. Isn’t it time Seth Rogen stepped in to revive this iconic series? A...

It's hard to believe it's been 25 years since Freaks and Geeks aired on NBC. The show featured a fantastic cast, touching, realistic writing, terrific music, and an almost unforgivable short run.
Many of the young cast members went on to have excellent careers despite NBC's pitiful treatment of the show. Stars like James Franco, Linda Cardellini, Seth Rogen, Jason Segel, Busy Phillips, John Francis Daly, and Martin Star have all enjoyed robust careers in Hollywood. Shia Labeouf, Rashida Jones, Lizzy Caplan, JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Ben Foster, Amy Aquino, Samaire Armstrong, Stephanie Erb, Leslie Mann, Kevin Corrigan, David Krumholtz, Jason Schwartzman, Matt Czuchy, and Mike White are just some of the talent that appeared in the shows all too brief run.
While 18 episodes were made, NBC only aired 15 of them, even banning one of them completely. The network never realized the greatest it had on its hands, and it canceled the...

Whether it be by utter obliteration, acts of deities and demons, or merely the ruination of the environment for human habitation, the world's end has fascinated filmmakers for as long as special effects have allowed it to be visualized. In general, audiences are drawn to see such mass destruction at a fictional remove as well, though some tales of the end times can hit a bit too close to home to feel good as escapism.

The biggest movie in the world right now is Wicked, the musical revisionist take on The Wizard of Oz that in no way includes James Franco and/or a CGI monkey voiced by Zach Braff.
Wicked, of course, fills us in on the Wicked Witch of the West’s backstory, casting her in a more sympathetic light, which wasn’t totally necessary, considering that most of us would be justifiably pissed off if a teenager accidentally killed our sibling and then helped themselves to the corpse’s footwear.
Wicked has already made over $165 million worldwide. Its opening weekend was the biggest ever for a movie based on a Broadway musical, and it’s considered an Oscar frontrunner. And according to some folks on the internet, we have James Corden’s non-involvement to thank.
Obviously, the people who actually made the movie, and the original show, deserve the most credit. But...

Return to Oz was a wild mess for Disney, but not the last time they’d use the Oz property!
Given what a disaster the production of Return to Oz was and how it ended up being a box office flop, it’s no shock that Disney was very wary of ever using the property again. Despite still owning the rights, Disney didn’t focus on Oz at all, even as other studios had various projects, from Syfy’s modernized fantasy Tin Man to NBC trying to make it a dark fantasy epic with Emerald City to Wicked becoming a smash Broadway hit.
As it happened, Oz would collide with another Disney property in a rather unique way, although not the success hoped for.
