- In January 2017, a New York Times article reported that David Marshall Grant is a great-great-grandson of Sarah Mullett Grant and John Grant, the first-ever couple to have a wedding announcement published in the New York Times. The announcement ran in the September 18, 1851, issue. John Grant was a cousin of Ulysses S. Grant, who later became the leader of the Union forces during the Civil War and then president of the United States.
