Jim Haskins was born on 19 September 1941 in Demopolis, Alabama, USA. He was a writer, known for The Cotton Club (1984) and Bojangles (2001). He died on 6 July 2005 in New York City, New York, USA.
He was a prolific author who wrote over 100 books, ranging from
children's counting books to biographies of Rosa Parks, Stevie Wonder and Spike Lee. He was working on a biography of Chicago Cubs star Ernie Banks at the time of his death.
