My name is Wade Krawczyk. With an extensive military history background I am available as an armorer, props buyer, uniform advisor and military technical advisor/researcher. I was born in 1961 and have been a military collector, historian and reference book writer on military uniforms and accoutrements for over 35 years. My specialized knowledge includes Napoleonic, Vietnam, and WW2, just to name a few. I am the author of five books on WW2 military uniforms. My books on www.amazon.com: https://www.amazon.com/Wade-Krawczyk/e/B0034OBLI4/ref=sr_ntt_srch_lnk_1?qid=1470965467&;sr=8-1
Originally from Sydney I was a cameraman in commercial television news for 14 years and since then have worked at the Warner Bros. Studios on the Gold Coast as a motion picture costumer, technical advisor, researcher, specialist props buyer and armorer. I also ran the studio costume shop (now closed) for 3 years.
As well as my decades of experience (as noted in my credits) recent projects include: Angelina Jolie's "Unbroken" where I worked as a researcher for the Set Decorating Department and Property Department, subsequently being made the Property buyer for Queensland. I then served during shooting in the Armoury department. On San Andreas I worked as a specialist property buyer and during shooting as the 2nd Unit assistant standby props.
In 2015 I worked on Mel Gibson's "Hacksaw Ridge", having carried out historical research for the art department, then the props department where I became the military props buyer. After pre-production I worked for the actual shoot as part of the webbing team on set recreating the Battle of Okinawa 1945.
In 2018 I have been the art department military researcher for set decoration and props on the Australian Vietnam war film "Danger Close" starring Travis Fimmel. I have advised and sourced materials for Vietnam war props and set decorations, weapons accessories, and for costumes, serving during filming on the webbing team.
I then commenced work on the upcoming Netflix series "Messiah" and travelled to Amman, Jordan, where I was both military advisor and armorer for the middle eastern part of the shoot. I coordinated and organized hire of weapons from the Royal Jordanian Army & other official bodies, organized blank firing weapons, and dummy prop weapons and then supervised their use on set. As military advisor I provided detailed research for the production on uniforms, military vehicles and procedures.
I can offer extensive military & historical research capabilities that have been honed over my many years of writing & collecting tailored specifically for film work. In this capacity I can also research and supply information that inform both staff and actors about the era and materials they will portray or deal with in their project. I also have an extensive knowledge of weapons from my work as an armorer and military press correspondent. Everything from swords to assault rifles. What dog tags should the soldiers have? What cigarettes did they smoke? What does their medical equipment consist of? What flight gear do helicopter crews wear? Large questions and small can be answered and the correct items found for on-screen. I maintain an extensive library of information and a list of contacts for military items (props, costumes and equipment) required for shooting. I look forward to hopefully being of assistance to you. Sincerely, Wade Krawczyk
