- Former stage actor (on Broadway from 1926), novelist and writer for The Brooklyn Eagle. Screenwriter under contract to Warner Brothers, 1936-1940. Wartime service with the Army Air Corps. Other work in Hollywood with 20th Century Fox, RKO and Universal. In the 1970's, worked as editor for Holiday magazine and the Saturday Evening Post.
- Wrote some of the most erudite scripts for Perry Mason such as the Case of the Last Act.
