Best-selling genre author Clive Barker has brought us the horrors of Rawhead Rex, Hellraiser, Nightbreed, Candyman, Lord of Illusions, The Midnight Meat Train, Dread, and Books of Blood, among other things – and now he’s bringing us the animated comedy Night of the Zoopocalypse. A trailer for the film, which is set to reach theatres on March 7, 2025, can be seen in the embed above.
Barker provided the concept for Night of the Zoopocalypse, and the idea was then fleshed out into a screenplay by Steven Hoban and James Kee. Directed by Ricardo Curtis and Rodrigo Perez-Castro, the movie has the following synopsis: One night, a meteor crashes into Colepepper Zoo unleashing a virus that transforms the animals into strange and hilarious slobbering zombie mutants. Gracie, a young quirky wolf, teams up with a gruff and fearsome mountain lion to find a way back to her pack. As the zoo is overrun,...

Popeye The Slayer Man: "Popeye the Slayer Man, a new horror feature exploring an alternate backstory for the legendary sailor, will be coming early 2025. The first trailer, stills, and teaser art have been released.
The film concerns a group of friends who sneak into an abandoned spinach canning factory to film a documentary on the legend of the “Sailor Man,” who is said to haunt the factory and local docks.
“We can’t wait for audiences to get a load of this gory and scary version of Popeye,” says producer Jeff Miller. “We went old-school and focused on using real practical effects, and not relying on CG for the gore. We’re talking with very enthusiastic and interested buyers now.”
Popeye the Slayer Man stars Sean Michael Conway, Elena Juliano, Mabel Thomas, Marie-Louise Boisnier, Jeff Thomas, and Steven McCormack, along with “scream queens” Angela Relucio and Sarah Nicklin. Jason Stephens plays the title role.

A new animated movie meant to be family-friendly will tell the story of zoo animals who are changed by a mystery meteor virus. The movie will mix horror and comedy in a new way.
“Night of the Apocalypse,” directed by Ricardo Curtis and Rodrigo Perez-Castro, is a project that brings together artists from France, Canada, and Belgium. The movie uses a new method of independent animation: creative problem-solving and collaboration with people from other countries.
According to Curtis, they wanted to make something new. The movie was made by House of Cool and Copperheart Pictures, two companies in Toronto that work well together because they have different skills. Exclusive: Indie studio Wiip has optioned Amanda Eyre Ward’s 2022 novel The Lifeguards. In Sue Tenney’s followup to the Netflix hit Virgin River, which she developed and served as executive producer/showrunner on for four seasons, she will tackle The Lifeguard‘s TV adaptation with fellow former Virgin River writer-producer Amy Palmer Robertson for what the duo are promising to be “a sexy, soapy, domestic suspense series.”
Combining three mothers’ points of view in a narrative tale with commentary from neighborhood listservs, secret text messages, and police reports, The Lifeguards, is both a story about the secrets we tell to protect the ones we love, and a riveting novel of suspense filled with half-truths and betrayals, fierce love and complicated friendships, and the loss of innocence on one hot summer night.
“The mothers and teenage sons of The Lifeguards are close to my heart,” Ward said. “From the moment...

Netflix’s live-action “Avatar: The Last Airbender” is back in production for Season 2, with the streamer revealing that Miya Cech has been cast as the fan-favorite character Toph.
In a clip released as part of Netflix’s annual Geeked Week fan event, Toph’s feet are seen in closeup before she stomps down and demonstrates her earthbending.
The 17-year-old Cech is likely best known to audiences as the younger version of Ali Wong’s character in the Netflix romantic comedy “Always Be My Maybe,” released in 2019. Funnily enough, she also played a younger version of Ali Wong’s character in an episode of the Netflix series “Beef.” She also starred in Nickelodeon’s short-lived series “The Astronauts” and had a supporting role in last year’s coming-of-age comedy “You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah.”
Toph was first introduced in Book 2 of the original “Last Airbender” animated series.

Avatar: The Last Airbender season two is officially in production. Netflix announced the news with a teaser video, and revealed the actress cast in the highly anticipated role of earthbender Toph.
First released in February, Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Nickelodeon’s beloved animated series was renewed for two more seasons in March.
The story, like its animated original, follows Aang (Gordon Cormier), the young Avatar, as he learns to master the four elements (Water, Earth, Fire, Air) to restore balance to a world threatened by the Fire Nation. Kiawentiio plays his friend Katara, and Ian Ousley her brother Sokka.
For season two, Netflix announced Miya Cech will play Toph, an earthbender who joins the crew. The video released Thursday does not reveal her face, but implies her earthbending powers.
Cech’s previous credits include one episode of the Emmy-winning Beef and Adam Sandler’s You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah.

This beautiful watercolour poster for Tony Zhou and Taylor Ramos's The Second is hiding a subtle secret in plain sight. The short film centres around a pistols-at-dawn kind of duel, and the underlying complexity of motivations across two generations. The lead character, featured in portrait in the key art, is played by actor Paul Sun-Hyung Lee with a quiet restraint and stoicism. He not the duelist, rather he is the armourer, advocate, and negotiator, for the gunfighter - also known as the Second. The title of the short is a further play on words, considering the duelist is his son, i.e. the second generation, living in the shadow of his father’s success. Co-writer and co-director, Taylor Ramos (also animator and illustrator) is the designer of the key...

A total of 36 percent of U.K. citizens, or 18 million people between the ages of 16 and 75, have used a generative AI tool, such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini or Midjourney, according to new research from advisory and consulting firm Deloitte. That is up from 26 percent recorded in 2023, its Digital Consumer Trends 2024 survey of 4,150 U.K. adults aged 16-75 found.
“Just over a third (36 percent) of generative AI users use it once a week or daily. This is equivalent to 13 percent of all people in the U.K.,” the firm highlighted in the report. “Four percent of all people in the U.K. claim to use generative AI daily (versus 3 percent in 2023). Two in five (41 percent) of generative AI users are extremely infrequent users, at less often than once per month.”

Avatar: The Last Airbender has a slew of likable characters, of which General Iroh of the Fire Nation remains one of the most beloved characters among the fans of the show. Working as a foil for Prince Zuko in the narrative, Iroh is one of the most powerful characters in the show and was a former general of the Fire Nation.
General Iroh and Prince Zuko in Avatar: The Last Airbender | Nickelodeon
Despite being one of the strongest characters in the show, Iroh is always depicted in a jovial mood, never angry or agitated (unless the situation calls for it), the character is often the voice of calm and reason wherever a situation gets too tense. However, the character was almost nothing like how fans have come to know him in the show, given that creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante Dimartino have revealed what the original plans for General Iroh were.

The Summer I Turned Pretty is taking a summer off.
Amazon, during its upfront presentation Tuesday in New York, revealed that the third season of its popular take on Jenny Han’s beloved young adult book trilogy will not air until 2025.
Additionally, Amazon revealed that the third season — formally announced last August — will consist of 11 episodes. That’s up from the previously announced 10 and a high for the show after seasons one and two featured seven and eight installments, respectively.
Season three of Summer was greenlit ahead of both the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes last year. Production on the new season was delayed until late last year, after both the writers and performers strikes were resolved and the reason for the show’s delayed return.
