Composer, author, guitarist, arranger and conductor Bernie Kaai Lewis graduated from the University of Chicago with a Master of Arts degree and became a staff composer/conductor and arranger for NBC in San Francisco, and moved to Los Angeles in 1942. After military service in World War 2, he composed and arranged for radio, TV, films and recordings including a number of songs for Dorothy Lamour between 1950 and 1956. Joining ASCAP in 1959, his chief musical collaborators included Tom Powers and Joseph Moshay, and his popular-song compositions included "Josie", "Glow-Worm Cha-Cha" and My Hawaiian Home".
