Mary Lewis is a veteran actress, director/writer and emerging producer. She is the recipient of a Genie Award for best dramatic short film for When Ponds Freeze Over which she wrote, directed, produced, animated, and also appeared in. She is the recipient of a Gemini award for best dramatic short television show for Clothesline Patch. She is the recipient of multiple other top awards in Canada and the US for her films including winner of TIFF award for Best Short film, winner of Vancouver International FF Award for best Animated film, Winner of Vanguard Award from Laguna Beach Film Festival, Winner of Best Drama from Cinequest Film Festival, California, Winner of People's Choice Award from Dawson City Film Festival, Winner of Golden Sheaf Award from Yorkton Film Festival, and Winner of Best Screenplay from Flicks International Film Festival. Mary works as a freelance director and writer in all genres of film and television, and she also continues to write and direct her own films. Mary was Winner of the Artist of Year Award in province of Newfoundland and Labrador for 1999. She was honored by her high school in 2008 with a Founder's Award - given to alumnae who have excelled in their fields. Daughter of Dr. John and Noreen Lewis, born in Kampala, Uganda, one of six children, she was raised in St. John's, Newfoundland.
