Modern Family co-creator Christopher Lloyd is sharing loving memories of his life wife, Days of Our Lives alum Arleen Sorkin, following her death last month. The couple met when they were both hired as staff writers on a sitcom, Lloyd reveals in an essay for Variety. “My name is Arleen, and I’m an empath,” she told him at lunch on the first day. “I hear a clicking in your jaw that may be Tmj. Here is the number of a dentist who can help.” In his remembrance, Lloyd recounts Sorkin’s many achievements from her life before and during their relationship: She went from high-school dancer to shoe model to cabaret member to Days star. She held the center spot on Hollywood Squares. She produced an off-Broadway play, co-created the sitcom Fired Up, and co-wrote the Jennifer Aniston film Picture Perfect. And, of course, she was the original voice of Harley Quinn.

When you arrive at home on a Tuesday evening and have to double-check your own address because there is a line of valet parkers in front, one of whom hands you a ticket, and when you proceed into your home of find a crowd of well-dressed people, most of whom you do not know, and an orangutan sitting on your chair at the head of the table — when all of this happens and you’re not really that surprised, there is a better than average chance that you are married to Arleen Sorkin.
The occasion on that Tuesday was a hastily arranged fundraiser for a South African human (and animal) rights organization, and the orangutan was by no means the only luminary I was surprised to find sitting in my chair over the three decades I spent with my big-hearted wife.

The “Modern Family” cast has endured for almost 10 seasons, but the end is near for one character.
Co-creator Christopher Lloyd told Entertainment Weekly that a “significant” character will die in the upcoming 10th season of the family comedy, which is set to premiere Sept. 26 on ABC.
“We’re handling some bigger life events in this season,” he told the magazine. “We do deal with a death, which is certainly a topic that families have to deal with, and on television, it’s not easy to do because that’s a heavy subject. But at the same time, it would seem unusual for a family not to go through it.”
Lloyd would not reveal who the character is, but he did say that the death would impact several episodes. The 10th season also marks the end of the show’s multi-season contract, so future seasons remain uncertain. Co-creator Steven Levitan has...

Since ABC has already renewed its Modern Family TV show for its ninth and tenth seasons, we don't have to worry about it being cancelled anytime too soon. That said, the end is more or less nigh for the top rated Alphabet Network sitcom. The ABC comedy stars Ed O’Neill, Julie Bowen, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Sofía Vergara, Ty Burrell, Eric Stonestreet, Sarah Hyland, Ariel Winter, Nolan Gould, Rico Rodriguez, Aubrey Anderson-Emmons, Jeremy Maguire, and Brigitte the French bulldog. 12 Monkeys has the unfortunate reputation of being renowned as one of the best shows that no one watches. This is all too understandable, as its origami narrative is simply impenetrable to casual viewers tuning in midway through. Though it began with a straightforwardly Terminator-esque mission – go back in time to kill the man responsible for the apocalypse – it’s evolved into a dense temporal thicket including evolved human beings with direct connections to time itself, gigantic time-travelling cities, a plethora of knotty paradoxes, and time-muddled familial relations. No wonder the new series’ central motif is an ouroboros – a snake consuming its own tail.
Season 2 ended with one of our heroes, Cassie, being informed that her just-conceived baby will grow up to be series big bad The Witness, the sinister masked figure responsible for the deaths of 7 billion people whose lofty ambition is the destruction of time itself.

What an oddly lengthy release the King’s Quest reboot has had. Sierra and The Odd Gentlemen’s episodic revisiting of a long-dormant adventure game franchise released its first entry in July of last year, and though subsequent episodes took 4 to 5 months to come out, the finale has been released less than a month after the penultimate episode.

Here are some fun, behind-the-scenes moments People witnessed from inside the ceremony and afterparties that didn't make it onto the TV screen. This past weekend, Hollywood celebrated the 7th annual Turner Classic Movie Film Festival, and this year’s slate of films did not disappoint.
Shown over 4 days and in multiple theaters along Hollywood Boulevard, the festival continues to draw bigger and bigger crowds each year.
This year’s festival treated classic film fans to over 70 movies and special guests, including Angela Lansbury, Faye Dunaway, Rita Moreno, Francis Ford Coppola, and Carl Reiner – just to name a few.
With so many films showing, its hard to choose what to see, but Wamg attended a few of the classics, along with some special presentations.
Field Of Dreams (1989)
The story goes that while Kevin Costner was filming Bull Durham (1988) he came across the script for Field of Dreams. Producers weren’t holding out for him because they assumed he wouldn’t want to do 2 “baseball movies” in a row. And thank god they were wrong.

Could we be any more excited about NBC’s quasi-Friends reunion? Not likely, especially after viewing this first extended clip of the Central Perk Crew getting their ’90s reminisce on during Must See TV: An All Star Tribute to James Burrows (airing Feb. 21 at 9/8c).
RelatedFriends Reunion Scoop: Where’s Matthew Perry?
The 90-second clip kicks off with David Schwimmer explaining to host Andy Cohen how Burrows took him under his directorial wings during the show’s near-decade run, but it’s Lisa Kudrow who livens things up by sharing how the sitcom vet assigned iconic nicknames to each member of the cast.

Thanks to his win in the New Hampshire primary, Donald Trump has momentum, and more so than ever, he's ripe for satire. Funny or Die has released a 50-minute movie called The Art of the Deal, which stars Johnny Depp as Trump.
The Art of the Deal is a faux-adaptation of Trump’s best-selling book of the best name, which has recently served as a noticeable influence on campaign strategy. For the film’s lead role, Depp dons Trump’s signature hairpiece and puts on his best New York accent, and a loaded supporting cast backs him up. The actors who appear alongside Depp include Alfred Molina, Patton Oswalt, Jack McBrayer, Stephen Merchant, Christopher Lloyd, and Kristen Schaal. The film’s director, Jeremy Konner, is a Funny or Die vet best known for his work on Drunk History.

Johnny Depp is having a yuuuuuuuge day. He was just revealed to be starring in Universal's "The Invisible Man" movie, but first you can see him as the very visible Donald Trump in the 50-minute Funny or Die movie, "The Art of the Deal."
Depp and a dozen other major celebs shot this back in December, and it's being presented now as a "lost film" directed by Trump himself in the 1980s, based on his own 1987 advice book. The "TV movie" starts with an intro from Ron Howard, and includes appearances from Alfred Molina, Robert Morse, Patton Oswalt, Jack McBrayer, Michaela Watkins, Henry Winkler, Stephen Merchant, Christopher Lloyd, Kristen Schaal, Andy Richter, Paul Scheer, Rob Huebel, Tymberlee Hill, Alf, Jordan Coleman, Joe Nuñez, and Jeremy Konner.

Johnny Depp has taken on one of his kookiest roles yet! He plays Donald Trump in a 50 minute comedy biopic film secretly produced by Funny Or Die. The film is called Donald Trump’s The Art Of The Deal: The Movie, and it is presented as a lost movie from the 1980s, “directed” by none other than the Trump himself.
Donald Trump has it all. Money, power, respect, and an Eastern European bride. But all his success didn’t come for nothing. First, he inherited millions of dollars from his rich father, then he grabbed New York City by the balls. Now you can learn the art of negotiation, real estate, and high-quality brass in this illuminating made-for-tv special feature, Funny Or Die Presents Donald Trump’s The Art Of The Deal: The Movie.

While it's easy to poke fun at Johnny Depp for some of the choices he makes ("Mortdecai"), he can really turn it on when he wants to ("Black Mass"). And the actor hilariously goes for it, leading the big comedy surprise which has just dropped, and should take the wind out of the sails of Donald Trump's victory in New Hampshire last night. Funny Or Die has released the mock documentary "The Art Of The Deal: The Movie," featuring Depp as Donald Trump (yes, really) and a star-studded cast including Ron Howard (who narrates), Alfred Molina, Robert Morse, Patton Oswalt, Jack McBrayer, Michaela Watkins, Henry Winkler, Stephen Merchant, Christopher Lloyd, Kristen Schaal, Andy Richter, Paul Scheer, Rob Huebel, Tymberlee Hill, Alf, Jordan Coleman, Joe Nuñez, and more. Jeremy Konner ("Drunk History") directs, and Kenny Loggins wrote the theme song. Read More: 5 Ways Johnny Depp Can Get His Career Back...

He’s played a host of wacky characters, but Johnny Depp may have found the most outlandish yet. Produced in secret by Funny or Die, the actor has portrayed Donald Trump in Donald Trump’s The Art Of The Deal: The Movie, a 50-minute biopic special presented as a lost movie from the 1980s, “directed” by none other than the presidential candidate.
“The plan was to move really fast because we thought Trump would go away, as least as a presidential candidate. When he bizarrely didn’t go away, we had a little more time. But that meant keeping the secret for longer,” Funny or Die editor-in-chief’s Owen Burke tells NY Times. “We had a few people sign nondisclosures, but mostly we just begged people not to say anything.”

The star-crossed life of Polly Hamilton, erstwhile girlfriend of doomed mobster John Dillinger, is dramatized in a low-budget but nevertheless engrossing dustbowl drama courtesy of director Lewis Teague. The exemplary cast and crew include Louise Fletcher as a bordello madam, music by James Horner (his third score) and John Sayles, who contributes a typically imaginative and empathetic script. Look for essential character actors Christopher Lloyd, Robert Forster, and Dick Miller in supporting parts, but don’t look for much in the way of accurate period detail.

Happy Friday, everybody! In this week's Ask Alan, I take questions on whether certain Peak TV shows won't age particularly well, which showrunners have the most impressive "writers tree" of all(*), and whether TV's increased serialization makes it harder to air episodes out of order these days. (*) One I had in my notes but neglected to mention when I recorded this: Susan Harris, who on "Golden Girls" alone employed future show creators Marc Cherry, Mitch Hurwitz, and the "Modern Family" Christopher Lloyd. You can watch the video embedded at the top and bottom of this post. As always, you can send questions to askalan@hitfix.com.
