Exclusive: Hemky Madera has signed with Stewart Talent for representation.

Madera is best known for his work as a series regular in USA Network’s Queen of the South across the drama’s 5 seasons. Madera worked closely alongside Alice Braga starring as her character Teresa Mendoza’s loyal right-hand man and ride-or-die, Pote Gálvez. The series is an adaptation of Telemundo’s hit telenovela La Reina del Sur starring Kate del Castillo as Teresa.

Bad Hombres is a gritty little action drama based in the drug trade and illegal immigration along the US/Mexican border in the dusty southwest. We start with Felix (Diego Tinoco) and his cousin competing for day labor in a Home Depot-type of parking lot. In the film, “When police raid a house in El Paso, they find it full of dead Latinos, and only one survivor. Satanic Hispanics opens with a police raid that finds a building containing twenty-seven dead bodies, four of them children. All Hispanic, all shot in the head and none with any identification. There is one survivor, a handcuffed man who tried to hack off his hand in order to escape.

Congratulations on such an accomplished feature film debut. Is this the film you’ve always wanted to make?

Thanks for the compliment! I always saw ‘A Cloud So High’ as a Drive-In movie, to be honest. It’s more the film I never knew I always wanted to make!

The film takes us on a dark journey into the pathology of a young man (Paul) developing into a serial killer. What gave you the inspiration for the character?

There were three main incidents. One, many years ago, much like Paul Sarling, I was attacked and mugged by three assailants while walking home after a college class here in Los Angeles. Two, while purchasing batteries...

What were your thoughts on the series finale? Did you have a favorite moment?

Whitney: Deep down inside, I am a romantic. So I absolutely loved the ending and seeing James and Teresa and Pote and Kelly Anne together again and enjoying a meal together.

Happy endings are so rare on television, and I love that these four who have been through so much together got to have that moment, even if it took a long time to get there.

Teresa Mendoza will always be one step ahead, even in death.

Queen of the South’s series finale, written by showrunners Benjamin Lobato and Dailyn Rodriguez, follows the sequence of events after Teresa’s (Alice Braga) assassination. Newcomer Samara recounts the moment of Teresa’s death to officials and bids farewell to Pote (Hemky Madera), who witnesses the cremation of his friend and decides to travel back to Culiacán to spread her ashes.

Meanwhile, James (Peter Gadiot) texts Devon (Jaime Hector) pictures of Teresa’s body at the morgue, confirming that he’s kept his end of the bargain. Over in New Orleans, Boaz (Joseph T. Zihuatanejo. That's what I was hoping to see, and that's what Queen of the South Season 5 Episode 10 gave me in the end.

And if you've never seen The Shawshank Redemption, watch it now. It's a great movie. Not only will you thank me, but you'll also understand the reference to Zihuatanejo.

This last installment belonged to Pote, and Hemky Madera carried it like the master he is from beginning to end.

Since the moment Brenda was killed, protecting Tony has been one of Teresa's top priorities, which is why I couldn't understand why she kept him in New Orleans.

When Tony began talking about applying to art school, Teresa was thrilled.

Narco shows are filled with blood, guns, violence, and death but Queen of the South Season 4 Episode 9 proved that they can also be suffused with a lot of heart.

When Queen of the South Season 1 began, Pote Galvez was the hitman sent to kill Teresa Mendoza and her best friend. Now the sicario is Mendoza's right-hand man, valiant protector, and someone she considers family.

What makes Pote different from other assassins in the world of narco TV? Can his newfound romance with Kelly Anne possibly last? And what kind of fun has both Pote and his portrayer found in the kitchen?

Recently, I chatted with actor Hemky Madera about that, another season of Queen of the South, and what else he has on the horizon.

What made you want to play the role of Pote?

I was familiar with the project because of the soap opera, the telenovela, and then I auditioned for it and then read the book.

I really enjoyed that character that chases her and then becomes her protector.

So I thought that was a pretty cool role to jump into.

Spider-Man: Far From Home is now playing in theaters overseas, and while Marvel fans in North America still have a few more days to wait for Peter Parker’s latest solo outing, we can at least offer you a breakdown of all the returning McU characters to expect.

To get the most obvious player out of the way first, the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel will, of course, see Tom Holland as the wall-crawler himself. The star will be joined Marisa Tomei as May Parker, who’s now fully aware of her nephew’s double life, and as those who’ve seen the Far From Home trailers will know, Peter’s secret identity will also be discovered by his love interest Michelle “Mj” Jones, played once more by Zendaya.
