Exclusive: Oscar winner Dustin Hoffman, André Holland, Alison Brie and Tom Sturridge are leading Alex Vlack’s feature directorial debut, the drama The Revisionist.
The production, written by Vlack, is currently shooting in Louisville, Ky.
In The Revisionist, Elise, a successful novelist, does what so many writers do: she manipulates and transforms the people in her life into the characters she needs for her story. As she blurs the line between fiction and reality, her world descends into secrets, lies, and outright betrayal. The project is an exploration of the psychological lengths to which a writer will go to achieve their art.
Pic is also produced by Vlack along with Arielle Elwes, Veronica Radaelli, Zachary Spicer, Fiona Robert and Sophia Robert. Vlack’s previous work includes directing and executive producing the documentary Still Bill about soul legend Bill Withers.
Cassian Elwes serves as EP along with Paul Robarts, Andy Steinman,...

The Mara sisters enjoyed a night out together!
Kate Mara and Rooney Mara stepped out to attend the Liberia Chimpanzee Rescue & Protection (Lcrp) Reception on Wednesday (December 4) in West Hollywood, Calif.
The sisters were joined at the event by Kate‘s husband Jamie Bell.
Kate and Rooney have been supporting the organization ever since traveling to Liberia in 2018 to learn about the work being done there.
“Once we had the opportunity to be face-to-face with these incredible animals, there was just no turning back,” Kate told People in December 2020. “They’re very similar to human babies. At first, we made sure to really give them their space and let them come to us until they were ready to explore. But what was really spectacular was when we went back two years later, they immediately remembered us.”
Rooney recently sparked marriage rumors with her very famous partner.

The 2024 U.S. elections had to be one of the most entertaining elections in the United States history. While I know that many people are taking it very seriously as they should it is also true that at the end of the day, you have to believe that everything will be fine. So, with that sentiment and because of my love for any media about the complex nature of politics we compiled a list of the best political TV shows that you should watch right now.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps is still shooting in Spain and while there's not too much to talk about in these latest set photos, we do get a closer look at the wig actor Joseph Quinn is wearing to play Johnny Storm, a.k.a. the McU's Human Torch.
For those of you who might not be aware, the Gladiator II star has a buzzcut and has opted to wear a wig to play the blonde-haired Johnny. It's a convincing effort and vastly better than what poor Kate Mara had to wear for Fantastic Four's reshoots in 2015.
Vanessa Kirby and Ebon Moss-Bachrach were also spotted arriving on set from afar and see the former wearing 1960s-style clothing and rocking a hairstyle that would make Jack Kirby proud.
Both Pedro Pascal and Quinn made a point of stopping to meet children from a local school and even signed their banner,...

Simon Kinberg’s career has taken him everywhere from the X-Men universe to Star Wars Rebels. His body of work, nevertheless, remains largely divisive. Ask fans of any franchise how they feel about a revival at his hands, and they would not be particularly pleased by the idea.
A Band of Heroes | Credits: Marvel
But whether he’s writing a detective thriller in Sherlock Holmes or launching some old-school mutants into battle, his projects still bring something memorable to the table. With Kinberg signed on to create a new Star Wars trilogy for Lucasfilm, sparking some major excitement (and a little bit of nervousness), let’s count down his top ten movies where he took on the roles of either a writer or director – sometimes even both.
10. Fantastic Four (2015)
The less said about the Fantastic Four, the better. Maybe it is just one of those comics that shouldn’t be turned into a movie.

Joker 2 has officially sapped the fandom of the 2019 movie. Its highly successful predecessor, which had quite the run at the Oscars, meant that director Todd Phillips and Joaquin Phoenix were already sold on the prospect of making the sequel.
Little did they know that their efforts would be so off the mark. The movie has failed to hit its stride. With its dismal ratings and a performance to forget, the Box Office ratings have probably scarred everyone associated with the franchise for life.

When Joker 2 was about to hit the theatres, many would have anticipated the movie to have a wondrous impact on the landscape of the superhero genre, being a musical amongst everything else.

Black Mirror season 6 hit Netflix in 2023 and given but given the extensive wait between season 5 and season 6, many thought we would have to wait a long time for season 7. Luckily, that's not the case!
The streaming service revealed that Black Mirror season 7 would be back in 2025 with a six-episode season at a recent Next on Netflix event in London. Netflix revealed in September 2024 that the new season is currently in production and 19 familiar faces have joined the cast.
Let’s be honest, Black Mirror packs significantly less of a punch than it used to, especially now that so many things that have happened in the show have happened in real life—or at least some version of it.
With AI on the rise, our future is looking bleak and dystopian enough as it is. It’s no wonder that creator Charlie Brooker pivoted to less tech-focused scares in season 6. Still,...

Review: Confession time – this movie is my introduction to Tim Robinson. Sure, I’ve had folks name-drop his show I Think You Should Leave, and it’s always been on my list of stuff to check out. But, I walked into this more-or-less fresh, not knowing what to expect. What I got was one of the most cringe-inducing comedies I’ve ever seen – and I loved every second of it.
To be sure, this kind of humour isn’t for everyone. There were times while I was watching Friendship in the (jam-packed) TIFF screening that I’m sure I annoyed the people sitting next to me by how many times I sunk in my seat, covering my face with my hands and repeating “no, no, no” louder than I should. That’s...

Having successfully built a devoted following as a leading purveyor of cringe comedy with his hit Netflix sketch series, I Think You Should Leave With Tim Robinson, the show’s rubber-faced star/co-creator ups his game with the innocently titled Friendship, a gleefully discomfiting portrait of male bonding that delivers some of the year’s biggest laughs.
Robinson navigates an extremely fine line between lovable goof and creepy psycho in writer-director Andrew DeYoung’s fearless first feature, playing a klutzy man-child of a suburban dad whose everyman demeanor becomes short-circuited after being taken under the wing of a friendly neighbor (Paul Rudd).
Of course, it also doesn’t hurt to land the always game Rudd as the object of one’s obsession. Rudd is himself no stranger to bromantic comedies, having starred in 2009’s I Love You, Man, which plays like innocuous fluff in comparison to DeYoung and Robinson’s no-holds-barred approach to the subject.

The level of enjoyment audience members will have with Andrew DeYoung’s Friendship is tied directly to their tolerance for the humor of Tim Robinson. The star of the meme-inspiring Netflix series I Think You Should Leave has cultivated a devoted following by creating situations of embarrassment and characters who veer wildly from absurdist rage to complete self-delusion. (See the infamous “we’re all trying to find the guy who did this” meme.) In my mind, I Think You Should Leave is the funniest series of the last decade or so. While Robinson’s full-length feature as star does not reach his show’s highs, it’s still a hysterically funny, pitch-black comedy.
That feature is Friendship, and it is exactly what Robinson fans would expect and want. Not unlike the Tim Heidecker-starrer The Comedy, or even Larry David’s underrated Sour Grapes, Friendship sees a performer embracing discomfort and frustration for 90-or-so minutes.

Craig Waterman is a middle class suburbanite who works at an office company that makes their clients’ products more addictive — whether those products are apps, foods, or politicians. In lieu of friends, Craig is casual acquaintances with his co-workers, and he looks forward to seeing “the new Marvel” because he hears it’s so crazy that it’s literally driving people insane. His entire wardrobe comes from a company called Ocean View Dining, he’s obsessed with trying the “Seal Team 6” special at a local restaurant, and his wife Tami still kisses their teenage son on the mouth.
From a distance, he might appear to be the most normal man in America, but Craig Waterman is (obviously) played by “I Think You Should Leave” maestro Tim Robinson, so if you look just a little bit closer it snaps into focus that he’s more like an alien impostor who could...

After taking the internet by storm in recent years with his Emmy-winning sketch comedy series I Think You Should Leave, Tim Robinson has found his first lead film role in Friendship, a surreal buddy comedy co-starring Paul Rudd that’s making its world premiere tonight in the Midnight Madness section of the Toronto Film Festival.
Tonally familiar to anyone who’s a fan of Robinson’s, with its socially awkward characters, offbeat dialogue and bizarro bits of slapstick, the film follows Craig Waterman (Robinson), a suburbanite disconnected from his wife (Kate Mara), who sees no reason to change his life or make new friends…until weatherman Austin (Rudd) moves into the neighborhood. Mysterious yet friendly, macho but vulnerable, Austin transforms everything for Craig, until his obsessive and childlike nature threatens to ruin the friendship, and possibly everything else in his life.

Let’s see if those famously kind Canadian audiences can convince Hollywood studios and streamers to bring the indies of this year’s Toronto International Film Festival back with them through customs.
As always, a promising crop of star-studded films are headed to TIFF in search of distribution. Some have tantalized audiences in Venice or Telluride, some showed only brief glimpses of their wares to early suitors in Cannes, and some are on the ground over the next week to make splashy debuts just in time for awards consideration.
“We’re still feeling the hangover of the past few years. The lingering impact of Covid, and of course the strikes,” said Jessamine Burgum, who runs the indie production shop Pinky Promise with partner Kara Durrett. The pair are in town with one of the most buzzed-about projects of the year, “The Last Showgirl” starring Pamela Anderson in a tale of redemption and sequined headdresses.

At this time last year, picketers were walking outside of studio gates, still two months away from resolving Hollywood’s dual strikes. Of the big festivals, the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), with its focus on star-heavy independent projects, was hardest hit by the labor action, with empty red carpets turning much-hyped premieres into damp squibs. Heading into TIFF this year, Hollywood is contending with less uncertainty (M&a and cost-cutting aside) and release calendars have fewer holes as strike-halted productions have started to roll out again, all of which should be good news for dealmakers headed to TIFF.

Ryan Reynolds was gutted to cut his pal Rob McElhenney's cameo from 'Deadpool and Wolverine'.Although his brief appearance ended up on the cutting room floor, the 47-year-old actor - who plays the Merc With The Mouth aka Deadpool in the Marvel blockbuster - is "grateful" that his fellow Wrexham AFC co-owner, also 47, supported him on set.Ryan spilled on Threads: “So, @robmcelhenney kindly did a cameo in D and W.“The sequence wasn’t working and Rob is why it stayed in the cut for so long. Even under a Tva mask, you can feel him smoldering with a raw, untapped reservoir of intensity. Don’t get me started on Wrexham. I wouldn’t know a love like that if it weren’t for Rob.“It feels good when friends are nearby. And even though I’m mortified he flew to London for me, I’m grateful [I had] my friend on that set.

Ryan Reynolds has revealed ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ nearly featured cameos from the cast of the 2015 film ‘Fantastic Four’. While the Marvel blockbuster is heavy with surprise appearances - with fan-favourite Chris Evans returning to play his version of Johnny Storm/The Human Torch from his two ‘Fantastic Four’ films - the 47-year-old actor revealed the flick nearly included cameos from the poorly-received 2015 adaptation of the iconic superhero team as well before the plans were dropped due to budget concerns. When Collider asked Reynolds if the ‘Fantastic Four’ cast - which included Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara and Jamie Bell - were considered for a ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ cameo, he said: "Yeah, that was a part of it. But like that, you're never going to get the mislead with like, Chris Evans, you know, with him doing it and the kind of license to thrill after that, with Chris.

The Fantastic Four are called Marvel’s First Family because, well, they actually are. Back in 1961, the company formerly known as Timely Comics transitioned into Marvel Comics. They kept some of their titles, such as Journey Into Mystery, but began a new approach to superhero comics with The Fantastic Four. These new titles would show the internal drama between the characters and not just their superheroics. After these characters became a big hit, the company created other heroes such as The Incredible Hulk, Spider-Man, and Iron Man. Fox would end up with the movie rights to bring these characters to the big screen but ultimately would produce content that really didn’t live up to what the comics promised. After four attempts (ironic), the rights have finally reverted back to Marvel Studios through Disney’s purchase of Twentieth Century Studios. Now that the MCU is around, fans are interested in...

Jamie Bell and Kate Mara became a couple while shooting 2015's disastrous Fantastic Four reboot, perhaps the only good thing to come out of a movie plagued by studio interference.
Neither they nor co-stars Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, and Toby Kebbell have shied away from sharing their disdain for the movie. However, both Bell and Mara are eager to see the upcoming Marvel Studios reboot.
"We're excited," Mara, who played Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, told Variety. "It's a great cast."
Bell, who transformed into The Thing, was quick to point out that he doesn't think The Fantastic Four should be considered a "reboot" and was quick to take a shot at the 2015 effort directed by Josh Trank while explaining why. Long before Vanessa Kirby was cast as the MCU’s version of the Invisible Woman, another actor took on the role of Sue Storm in the Fantastic Four. The beautiful Jessica Alba played the part in 2005’s production and its 2007 sequel. Almost 20 years later, the actress has some surprisingly nice things to say about the Fox-era Marvel movies.
Speaking with Comicbook.com, Alba relayed her positive experience working on Tim Story’s Fantastic Four:
“I loved it so much playing that character. I feel like my whole life started in a lot of ways at that moment. I met my life partner, we’re still together, we have three kids. Tim Story, who directed, is still one of my best friends. We have New Year’s Eve together. It was great and she was such a cool, inspiring character and ahead of her time, I would say, in the genre.

Actress Vanessa Kirby (“Napoleon”) plays Marvel Comics superhero 'The Invisible Woman' , aka 'Susan Storm-Richards' in Marvel Studios upcoming live-action feature film reboot "The Fantastic Four":
"...'Sue Storm' received powers after being exposed to cosmic rays in space, enabling her with invisibility and creating force fields.
"Her invisibility power can bend light waves allowing her to render herself and other objects invisible.
"She can also project powerful fields of invisible psionic, hyperspace-based energy for a variety of offensive and defensive effects…
“…including shields, blasts, explosions and levitation.
"Sue plays a central role in the lives of her younger brother 'Johnny Storm', her scientist inventor husband 'Reed Richards', her close friend 'Ben Grimm' and her children, 'Franklin' and 'Valeria'.
She was also romantically attracted to 'Namor the Sub-Mariner', (despite that thing in his nose) and they remain close friends.."

It was not lost on Paul Walter Hauser that previous film representations of the Fantastic Four did not exactly set the world on fire.
During a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, the in-demand actor reveals that those poorly received movie adaptations of Marvel’s superhero team made him give some extra thought before joining director Matt Shakman’s Disney film that is set to hit theaters July 25, 2025. Hauser, who recently earned an Emmy for his role in Black Bird, will play a not-yet-disclosed role in the project that features Pedro Pascal (Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn (Human Torch) and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Thing).
“Don’t think that didn’t weigh in as I was deciding whether or not to take the job,” Hauser says of the property’s checkered Hollywood past. “That movie has not fully been nailed just yet.”
He continues, “But I really do think the combination of the screenplay,...

Netflix’s “Black Mirror” returns to the Emmy Awards after a four-year break with its sixth season that premiered back in June 2023. The trajectory of the Charlie Brooker anthology series at the Emmys has been a tumultuous journey, particularly in recent years. The science-fiction dystopia used to dominate the limited/movie genre, winning Best Television Movie for three consecutive years at its height, before the Television Academy ruled that it must compete for the drama categories for its fifth season in 2020, ending its streak. Then the following year, the top category for limited series was changed to Best Limited or Anthology Series, placing “Black Mirror” back into the genre, but in the more competitive limited series race rather than the standalone television movies.
Despite the many radical switches, the program has managed an impressive eight wins out of 14 nominations overall. With its new string of six anthology episodes that star various actors including Salma Hayek,...

With the studio set to introduce Marvel’s first family Fantastic Four in the MCU, fans are revisiting the previous adaptations of the superhero team, including Josh Trank’s 2015 reboot boasting a stellar cast including Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell. There is no denying that the film has not been the best the superhero genre has to offer and fans have now noted one glaring flaw that further compounds its shortcomings.

The superhero team has always been defined as Marvel’s first family. However, the 2015 reboot film doesn’t seem too keen to follow the concept as two of the leading characters Susan Storm and The Thing hardly have a conversation in the movie.
