Television is a medium that has entertained us for a century. From using it to rewatch our favorite movies on cassette back in another time to tuning into the regularly scheduled programming each and every night, you were always better off when escaping into the countless adventures that TV could provide you with. That's one of the many reasons why TV shows have become such a staple of entertainment over the years.
There are plenty of shows to enjoy these days, from beloved procedurals to long-running medical dramas, TV is the home of so many of our favorite characters - and whether you're watching them on broadcast or the countless streaming services that have popped up over the past decade, we're all so appreciative of these characters and the storylines they find themselves partaking in.
But every so often, a show comes along that defines a generation. These days, there are multiple of them.

It's been a big year for television. From broadcast debuts that made an impact to long-awaited streaming phenomenons (that did indeed become streaming phenomenons), 2024 has had plenty of high-quality television to offer. And it's a good thing too, because this year was a little quieter on the cinematic front, as a number of major genre films that were supposed to premiere at some point in 2024 had to be delayed until next year.
But hey, TV had our back with plenty of excellent adventures to keep us entertained. Superman and Lois Lane returned for another season of superheroing on The CW, and they weren't the only iconic comic book duo who got in on the action. The Walking Dead Universe brought Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira back as Rick Grimes and Michonne in the heavily-anticipated The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, while Melissa McBride's Carol Peleteir joined bestie Norman Reedus...

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 2, The Book of Carol, was a terrific season of television. The revolution in France hit a boiling point, with Daryl (Norman Reedus), Isabelle and Laurent at the epicenter, while Carol (Melissa McBride) flew across the Atlantic with Ash in hopes of reuniting with Daryl.
Following the conclusion of the season, we caught up with director Daniel Percival, who helmed three episodes, including the epic finale. Percival also directed the reunion between two of the franchise's most beloved characters. We asked Percival to explain what makes Daryl and Carol's partnership so compelling for audiences. "[It is] not a conventional love story but a love story nonetheless," he said. "They have a 'run-into-a-burning-building' kind of love. A deep care and compassion for one another that goes way beyond any romantic relationship. They will protect each other no matter what."

In the season 2 finale of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, both Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride) fled France and ended up in England, where they meet a new survivor played by British comedian Stephen Merchant. But that's not their final destination; the bulk of season 3 is set in sunny Spain. And with the new location comes a new team of crew members working behind the scenes, offering us a new, never before seen angle on the zombie apocalypse.
Daryl Dixon season 3 is currently in the middle of production. The new season will premiere sometime in 2025. We don't know what awaits Daryl and Carol in Spain. The crew have been tight-lipped, as expected. When we asked director Daniel Percival what awaits us in Spain, we were simply told to "wait and see," which is totally a fair and expected response.

Did the Season 2 finale of Daryl Dixon just suggest a safe haven for the humans from the walkers? Norman Reedus’ The Walking Dead spin-off has seen some exciting development over its last six episodes. Reedus’ Daryl learns from the Scottish couple Angus and Fiona that the United Kingdom has effectively controlled the zombie outbreak.

While the question remains whether Fiona’s account is true or not, the UK being a walker-free zone is big news for the world in The Walking Dead. It means that there is at least one country, with the means and resources, that could find a cure for this outbreak.

It’s safe to say that The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon has had something of an identity problem. Initially conceived as a “roadshow” set in the US and centered on the characters of Carol (Melissa McBride) and Daryl (Norman Reedus), the show then moved to France and lost McBride. The first season then built a new premise around Daryl stuck in France and contemplating a new life with nun Isabelle and her “chosen one” nephew Laurent. However, when McBride then returned to the show for the second season, it’s clear the decision was made to then pivot back to the original concept, but set in Europe.
These massive changes have left the show — and especially season 2, subtitled The Book of Carol — something of a jumble as the old version of the plot was phased out to make way for the new one. Despite this messy premise, the show...

AMC Networks — the company behind such cable channel brands as AMC, IFC and Sundance TV, as well as such streaming services as AMC+, Acorn TV and horror streamer Shudder — reported a 10 percent drop in third-quarter U.S. advertising revenue to $133 million on Friday. It cited “linear ratings declines and a challenging ad market, partly offset by digital and advanced advertising revenue growth.”
Quarterly affiliate revenue decreased 13 percent to $164 million, “primarily due to basic subscriber declines.”
After returning to streaming subscriber growth in the third quarter of last year after two quarters of declines, the company added around 200,000 users in the latest quarter to end September with a total of 11.8 million subs, compared with 11.6 million as of the end of June.

The season 2 finale of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon had a little of everything, from Daryl singing to bioluminescent zombies in the eerie depths of the Channel Tunnel. It concluded The Book of Carol in an unexpected way, seeing both Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride) head to England. But the journey is far from smooth, with the duo encountering a wholly new type of zombie.
After scurrying away from the post-apocalyptic French revolution, both Daryl and Carol found themselves heading to the relative sanctuary of England. While they don't know what awaits them there, it's sure to be a safer place than France, where the country was at war.
However, in order to cross the border, they must venture through the Eurostar tunnel, an old railway line fallen to disrepair after the apocalypse. Naturally, the walkers that lurk in the darkness have changed with their environment. Now they're bioluminescent messes,...

The first season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon had the following synopsis: Daryl (Norman Reedus) washes ashore in France and struggles to piece together how he got there and why. The series tracks his journey across a broken but resilient France as he hopes to find a way back home. The season 2 finale of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon has arrived! Although both Losang and Genet are dead, that isn't stopping the survivors of both causes from continuing their mission of finding Laurent. Will Laurent be able to escape via Ash's airplane? Who will the third passenger in the airplane be?
Laurent finally escapes Louis Puech Scigliuzzi as Laurent - The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon _ Season 2, Episode 6 - Photo Credit: Stéphanie Branchu/AMC
The episode begins rather quickly, allowing Daryl to have one final conversation with Laurent while playing the guitar and allowing Carol one last attempt to apologize to Ash. In both cases, Daryl and Carol, without speaking to each other, have chosen themselves to stay behind.
What they don't realize is that the remnants of Losang and Genet's group is hot on their trail, finding Fallou and Codron while they search an abandoned mental hospital for supplies.

The post-apocalyptic AMC drama series “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” will film its third season across multiple regions in Spain. Production is currently underway for the new season, scheduled to premiere in 2025. This marks a shift from the previous French setting as the show explores different areas coping with the global walker outbreak.
Series lead characters Daryl Dixon and Carol Peletier ended season two pursuing their goal to return home. In a post-finale teaser, Norman Reedus expressed Dixon’s exhaustion but determination, saying “I was ready to give up. Thought it was all over.” Melissa McBride’s Carol responded that she felt the same.
Showrunner David Zabel said the characters “should not settle down” and must “keep moving” on their journey. Filming will take place in Spain’s Galicia, Aragón, Catalonia, and Valencia regions to continuing telling their story. Zabel hinted future seasons may explore more global locations depending on the characters’ paths.

In the season finale of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol, Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride’s O.G. zombie-fighters finally escape France, but not exactly as they hoped. Heading into the hour, the fan-favorite duo were set to split from one another, as clutch rescue pilot Ash (Manish Dayal) couldn’t fit them both on his plane. Daryl decides to stay, despite Carol wanting to take his place in the sacrifice play. In the end, both of them get to stick around, thanks to the last gasps of the French autocrat army showing up right before takeoff.

In the pre-season promotion for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon — The Book of Carol, Norman Reedus repeatedly said he believed the finale was the best hour of The Walking Dead that had ever been made. Inevitably, it isn’t, but it’s a shame because while it cannot compete with the likes of "The Grove "or "Terminus," it’s not a bad episode. “Au Revoir Les Enfant” (Goodbye Children) gives us some vastly needed closure and the promise of a better future.

The dream team is back — and already in heaps of trouble. After survivors Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) finally reunited with an emotional embrace in the October 20 episode of AMC‘s The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon spinoff, subtitled The Book of Carol for Season 2, fans have been treated to some very intense #Caryl moments…and a clearing of the deck for their friends and foes alike. And yet, we know Carol and Daryl will survive. Their unlikely but steadfast friendship, formed in the earliest days of the apocalypse on AMC’s flagship, has already overcome murderous and vicious dictators, plenty of blood and guts getting spilled in their zombie-infested world — and now, a trip across the Atlantic. Carol went searching for her best friend in France, only to find the gruff American Southerner slicing and dicing the undead in a Normandy abbey. Talk about unexpected. “That...

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon swaps out the samey forests of Georgia for a much more expansive and stunning set in France. All of a sudden, the franchise can explore some of the world's most legendary locations, such as the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, the Catacombs of Paris, and Mont Saint-Michel. The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon has visited all of these locations, culminating in one spectacular spinoff.
Daryl Dixon season 2, The Book of Carol, is the last season of the show set in France. Moving into season 3, the production switches locations to Spain. In a recent interview with Collider, our titular duo discussed working in France, and what about it was so unique.
"There's a poetic, artistic history to the locations that we're shooting in that adds a lot to the show, not just visually," Reedus explained. "There are lines in the show that talk about how we've survived these types of things before.

After the chaos and heartbreak that ensued last episode, we're happy to see that the plot takes a pause but only momentarily. In The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 2 episode 5 "Vouloir, C'est Pouvoir", Daryl tries to convince Laurent to come to America but alas their pilot Ash is missing.
While Daryl and Carol search for him, Losang's mission to find Laurent continues, leading to a showdown between himself and Daryl. Will our heroes be able to escape France via Ash's plane?

“Looks like the future,” Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi) says to Daryl (Norman Reedus) as they drive through Paris in the latest episode of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon — The Book of Carol, "Vouloir, C'est Pouvoir." After the high emotions and climaxes of Episode 4, we spend much of this episode thinking about the future for the characters who have survived the cull so far.
Having lost the majority of the female cast in the previous two episodes, we return to the surviving menfolk. Codron (Romain Levi), it appears, has survived the war at the Nest and makes his way to Fallou’s (Eriq Ebouaney) camp for refuge, recovery and reparation. Romain Levi conveys a great deal of heart and depth in his performance, which works wonderfully with Laurent’s blank-slate openness, as the pair connect through their shared guilt and faith. Their scenes together are oddly touching, and actually create a...

In 2010, AMC Networks premiered The Walking Dead, an apocalyptic series that aired for 12 years across 11 seasons. Based on the comics created by Robert Kirkman, the series became wildly popular, beyond what anyone could have imagined, and has inspired other series within the genre.
The Walking Dead has been praised for its earliest and final seasons, with mixed reviews for its seventh and eighth seasons. While it is set in an undead apocalypse, the stories revolve around the survivors and their experiences after the outbreak occurred. Many viewers note this is why the series became so popular.
Long-standing cast members for the series include Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Chandler Riggs, Melissa McBride, Lauren Cohan, Danai Gurira, Josh McDermitt, Christian Serratos, Seth Gilliam, Ross Marquand, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Several of these characters' stories have continued in the long line of spinoffs of the main series. Let's check out some...

In The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon -- The Book of Carol, we've seen Carol (Melissa McBride) travel across the world to Europe to reunite with her best friend and long-time companion Daryl (Norman Reedus). She's flown across the Atlantic with Ash (Manish Dayal), stopping off at Greenland along the way. And upon arriving in France, she's found herself in the midst of a revolution.
Whilst Carol has been ardently trying to locate him, Daryl himself has been in the centre of the conflicts in France. He and Isabelle (Clémence Poésy) have made a little surrogate family along with Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi), a young boy whom many in the area believe to be the Messiah. Due to their steadfast determination to protect Laurent, both Daryl and Isabelle were put in prison inside Mont Saint-Michel. And just as Daryl breaks out and discovers that Isabelle was sadly lost in battle,...

[This story contains major spoilers from episode four of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol.]
After a full season and change apart, Walking Dead heroes Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Carol Pelletier (Melissa McBride) have finally reunited — and it’s perfectly timed, as one of the other most important people in Daryl’s life has just departed.
The fourth episode of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol features the long-awaited reunion between the two title characters, in the thick of the season’s biggest action scene yet. The safe haven known as the Nest is under attack, with France’s dictatorial leader Genet (Anne Charrier) leading the charge. The chaos allows Carol to slip in (albeit, not unnoticed), and fight her way through mobs of walkers to find the person she’s been looking for all season long.
The reunion itself plays out in the midst of a hallway fight, with Daryl finally joining the battle,...

The world of The Walking Dead continues in the form of multiple new spinoffs that have placed the focus on some of the original show's most beloved characters. The credits rolled on that original series back in 2022, but there were still stories to tell; stories that came to life in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, The Walking Dead: Dead City, and The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live.
The latter of those shows brought back Rick Grimes and Michonne earlier this year, and Dead City's Maggie and Negan will return for their second season next year. Daryl and Carol, however, they returned to screens just a few weeks ago for the second season of Daryl Dixon, subtitled The Book of Carol, which has aimed to reunite the titular pair.
But the Twd Universe isn't afraid to kill off a character or two even in the midst of something as heartwarming as a reunion.

“One thing’s for sure, we’re not in Ohio anymore,” Carol (Melissa McBride) says in “Le Paradis Pour Toi,” the fourth episode of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon — The Book of Carol. It feels like a timely Wizard of Oz reference, as Carol and Daryl (Norman Reedus) finally reunite in this episode, and the result feels like Dorothy moving from the black-and-white of Kansas to the full Technicolor of Oz. Their interactions bring a spark to the show that illustrates why fans like these two characters interacting, and why they were given a spinoff in the first place. Though the irony is, this shift appears to be the end of Daryl’s fairytale ride, not the start.
