Finding your work/life balance has been a buzz-phrase long enough that merely mentioning the word “boundaries” is enough to send anyone listening sprinting back to their lousy job or horrible home life. “I know I work too much! I know I don’t spend enough time with my friends and family! Hello, welcome to capitalism — now stop telling me to ‘find balance’ like it’s a lost puppy or something else that actually exists.”
But, dear readers, what if you really were empowered enough to achieve such stability? What if the challenge of balancing work and life wasn’t practical, but psychological? What if you — now bear with me here — love your job so much it becomes your life? What if you truly love your co-workers, too? What if you get so much fulfillment out of doing what pays the bills that it’s impossible to imagine doing anything else?...

Mythic Quest season 4 is here, and there are good reasons why any fan of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia should check this comedy out!
Every streamer has those shows that don't get the acclaim of other series on the same streamer. With Apple TV+, Ted Lasso has gotten massive accolades and Emmy wins, but Mythic Quest hasn't gotten as much attention. And that's a shame, as the show deserves a lot more viewers.
Created by It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia stars and writers Charlie Day, Megan Ganz, and Rob McElhenney, Mythic Quest centers around the company behind Mythic Quest, a hit video game. The characters bounce off each other as they try to present a new expansion of the game. With season 4 now streaming, new episodes are released Wednesdays, the show has flown under the radar, but works nicely. There's several reasons any fan of It's Always Sunny should be watching it.

According to the It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia subreddit, President Donald Trump needs to put Lethal Weapon 5 and Lethal Weapon 6 back in the library whether Hulu likes it or not.
In mid-2020, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia found itself in the same situation as many comedy shows at the time in re-examining its use of racist imagery — specifically that of the blackface variety — amidst protests and mounting tensions over the murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin. Given the political climate at the time, Hulu, while struggling to maintain market-friendly social messaging, made the decision to remove episodes of Always Sunny that contained such intentionally insensitive makeup from their platform as the rest of the streaming giants did the same for other sitcoms like 30 Rock and Community.

Romance has never come easy for Rob McElhenney’s Mac in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. But after years of trying (and failing) to find true love, a journey defined by catfishing, unrequited crushes, spite-fueled hookups, 2000s transphobia and a short-lived attempt at wielding Dennis’ reverse-d.E.N.N.I.S system (the S.I.N.N.E.D. system) into a meaningful relationship, Mac may finally get to live up to his “meat mountain” moniker.
Back in 2022, McElhenney’s Bff and Irl Ted Lasso comrade Ryan Reynolds revealed that he’d be down to enjoy a whole lot more than an overpriced beer at Paddy’s Pub, agreeing to strike up an on-screen romance with Mac if given a stint on the long-running sitcom.
“I’m personally offended I’ve never been asked,” Reynolds replied when questioned about his lack of It’s Always Sunny… street cred during a puppy-fueled sitdown with pre-a.

This month, the world has been shocked to learn that AppleTV+ does actually employ a few people who know how to market its shows. Or, maybe, just one show: Severance. The famously under-watched platform released the first eight minutes of the Season Two premiere. The official Severance podcast booked Adam Scott’s A-list friends to talk about it. Its four leads showed up in a transparent pen at New York’s Grand Central Station, wearing their show costumes and wigs, to pretend to work at their terminals.
It makes sense for Apple to put resources behind a show that has critics slavering in a way I haven’t seen since Succession went off the air, but it’s really overshadowed the other dark workplace comedy it’s bringing back this month: Mythic Quest, which with four seasons to its name is one of Apple’s longest-running shows, not to mention...

Did Hugh Jackman almost buy a soccer team with Ryan Reynolds? ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
But hold up: he wasn’t about to team up with Deadpool 3 co-star Ryan Reynolds and co-own Wrexham AFC. Nope, Hugh Jackman had a better offer on the table: a £1 co-ownership deal with one of Wrexham’s rivals. Sounds tempting, right?
The offers came pouring in shortly after Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took over Wrexham AFC in 2021, and the small Welsh club went viral. Under the ownership of the Deadpool duo, Wrexham went from a modest football team to a media sensation, gaining global attention, new fans, and a hefty increase in support.
Naturally, clubs across the league figured, “Why not tap into that Jackman-Reynolds rivalry?” After all, the two actors love teasing each other on social media and in interviews, making the idea of a Jackman vs. Reynolds rivalry in the football world even juicier.

Unfortunately, the honor of “Most It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia-Coded Movie of 2024” will be a nine-way tie between all the nominees in the Academy Awards’ Best Picture category that don’t win it.
As every fan of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia knows, the show has a strained relationship with the snobs and tastemakers of the awards-voting Hollywood elite. Despite the fact that It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is the longest-running live-action sitcom in American history and arguably the only sitcom to maintain a consistently high level of humor through 16 seasons, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has only given the show three measly nominations and zero wins, all in the category of Outstanding Stunt Coordination — a point which Rob McElhenney, Kaitlin Olson, Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton and Danny DeVito are compelled to bring up whenever the Emmys ask them to present someone else with a trophy.

It may always be sunny in Philadelphia, but it’s not always stoic.
Throughout It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s 16 seasons, the Paddy’s Pub crew has made it very clear that they, too, find their own show really funny, letting out a few poorly-timed chuckles and smirks on the FX(X) staple.
Last week, Redditor JiveTurkey1983 dropped by the It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia subreddit on a mission: To find every single time a member of the gang smiled, laughed, giggled or otherwise broke during the show’s nearly two-decade run.
“What’s your favorite instance of an actor breaking character?” they asked, adding a screengrab of Mac nearly losing it in a scene from Season 11’s “The Gang Hits the Slopes.”
“Charlie completely turning away,” replied Just_File6913, referencing a now-iconic moment from Season Six’s “The Storm of the Century,” while cce29555 cited a sliver of Rob McElhenney...

Hollywood’s unexpected love affair with lower league English football is continuing.
Avengers director Joe Russo has been named on the board of Championship side Sheffield United, after the club was taken over by a U.S.-led consortium, Coh Sports, last month. He was also named as an investor.
Russo is the latest Hollywood figure to invest in an English soccer team, coming after the likes of Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, who hosted Russo at a match in Wales in April 2023 in which the Red Dragons were promoted back into the English Football League. Former NFL quarterback Tom Brady is part of the group that owns Birmingham City.

It's been almost a couple of weeks since the iconic Abbott Elementary and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia crossover episode. And honestly, we're still thinking about it, and rewatching the special as well. While it had so many amazing moments and we have almost no complaints, one little disappointment is the absence of Dennis.
If you feel that way too, we have some good news! The first is that there was a very good reason for his character to have been written this way, and things aren't just going to stay open-ended like that. We're going to get some answers as to why Dennis was so elusive in the crossover episode.

The Men in Blazers may be looking to upgrade their suits. The soccer-focused media company has raised $15 million in a Series A funding round backed by a number of media, sports and entertainment heavyweights.

The Abbott Elementary crossover with It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia was chaotic in the best way possible, but there are other outlandish crossover combinations that could be magic. Abbott Elementary’s creator Quinta Brunson and It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia showrunner Rob McElhenney worked together to make the impossible come true: the FX sitcom “Gang” meeting the Abbott teachers. There were a million reasons why it shouldn’t have worked, but the crossover was a hit.
Aside from hidden It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia references in the Abbott Elementary episode, the crossover had the unlikely pair change each other for the better. While McElhenney’s Mac helped Ava (Janelle James) blackmail the golf course, Charlie Day's Charlie Kelly learned how to read at Abbott Elementary. At the same time, the crossover protected the unique identities of both titles. Despite how unconventional a crossover may be, it could be a...

At the same time, the crossover protected the unique identities of both titles. Despite how unconventional a crossover may be, it could be a...

Savages, idiots and jerk-offs will say that Glenn Howerton’s acting talents peak with one-note performances, but true believers in the Golden God know that he hasn’t even begun to peak.
As non-idiotic, non-jerk-off It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia fans always love to bring up, the actor who plays the divine Dennis Reynolds on the longest running live-action sitcom in American history is a much more well-rounded performer and person than the actual characters on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Before Howerton helped his friend and roommate Rob McElhenney out by appearing in a shoestring budget pilot (one that Howerton himself funded), Howerton graduated from the competitive and prestigious Juilliard School, he became fluent in Mandarin, Korean, French and Spanish and he starred in the most ill-conceived sequel sitcom in Fox history, the oft-mocked That ‘80s Show.

Kaitlin Olson is becoming one of the biggest TV stars, especially after she pulled double duty during the second week of January 2025 when she starred in new episodes of two big shows. After graduating with a bachelor's degree in theater from the University of Oregon, Olson moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career in the late 1990s. At first, the actress did sketchy comedy and booked small parts in TV series here and there. However, Olson's breakout came in 2005 when she began playing Dee Reynolds in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
Olson has starred in various other substantial projects over the years, ranging from her first TV appearance as Cheryl Hines' sister in Curb Your Enthusiasm to voicing a whale shark in a billion-dollar Pixar film. She has also been nominated for three Emmy Awards — one for Outstanding Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series (for...

The following article contains spoilers from Abbott Elementary season 4, episode 9, "Volunteers."Abbott Elementary executive producer Patrick Schumacker reveals why Dennis is barely featured in the It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia crossover episode. For its midseason return, Abbott Elementary season 4 staged one of the more bizarre crossovers in TV history. The Always Sunny Gang — Charlie Kelly (Charlie Day), Mac (Rob McElhenney), Dee Reynolds, and Frank Reynolds (Danny DeVito) — are forced by court order to help the teachers at Abbott. Dennis Reynolds (Glenn Howerton) is also there, but he vehemently refuses to take part in the ongoing Abbott documentary. That means he spends most of the episode unseen.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, along with fellow executive producer Justin Halpern, Schumacker broke down the Abbott Elementary and It's Always Sunny crossover. A New ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ Star Spotted in the Trailer for ‘Mythic Quest’ Season Four
Ronald “Mac” McDonald and Matthew “Rickety Cricket” Mara may already be main characters on AppleTV+’s Mythic Quest, but more of the Paddy’s Pub Gang are on their way.
In early 2020, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star and creator Rob McElhenney, apparently unsatisfied with running just one cult beloved comedy show where he plays an emotionally stunted narcissist, released Mythic Quest through Apple’s streaming service alongside a number of his Always Sunny partners. Mythic Quest tells the behind-the-scenes story of a video game company that runs an in-universe equivalent of World of Warcraft, with McElhenney playing the game’s creator and creative director who sees himself as something of a messiah figure to the gaming industry, not unlike a certain bloody savior nailed to a cross that belongs in Paddy’s Pub.

Tensions were high during Abbott Elementary's crossover episode, but Charlie Kelly (Charlie Day) learned a valuable lesson. The satirically bad people of It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia visited the elementary school as volunteers, but a running gag from the FX series came to a head early in the episode: Charlie's illiteracy. While the rest of the "Gang" consisting of Dennis Reynolds (Glenn Howerton), Deandra "Sweet Dee" Reynolds (Kaitlin Olson), Frank Reynolds (Danny DeVito), and Ronald "Mac" McDonald (Rob McElhenney) were causing chaos around the school, Charlie was ironically the calmest It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia character there.
Abbott Elementary’s virtuous cast of characters was sure to clash with the Gang, but Charlie wound up as a willing participant of something kind, productive, and healthy. Rather than the usual It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia antics where the Gang is always scheming or looking out solely for themselves, Charlie...

Mythic Quest season 4, which premieres Jan. 29, 2025 on Apple TV+, has a new trailer that hints at a fun cameo from an It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia actor, and some excellent insight for the new season!
The series has often flown under the radar compared to other Apple TV+ shows. The comedy about the office antics of the creators of a hit video game has gotten praise from critics, but rarely awards show buzz. That’s a shame, given the series is a total delight in the writing, and has a top-notch cast.
The main cast members include Rob McElhenney, best known for his role as Mac on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia along with David Hornsby, who plays the long-suffering Cricket on the show. The new trailer shows McElhenney's It's Always Sunny co-star, and Quest co-writer, Charlie Day popping up as what looks like another tech rival. Check out the...

The Abbott Elementary and It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia crossover exceeded expectations, but Glenn Howerton's Dennis was suspiciously absent from the majority of the episode. When the shows were confirmed to collide in Abbott Elementary season 4, the news felt like a fever dream. The lovable cast of characters in Abbott Elementary couldn't be more different from the deplorable "Gang" in its FX partner. While It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia is an institution of comedy in its own right, it was unclear how their twisted characters would mesh with the teachers at Abbott.

When “Abbott Elementary” creator Quinta Brunson mentioned the idea of a crossover episode with “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” — fueled from a conversation with Rob McElhenney during Disney’s upfronts — showrunners Patrick Schumacker and Justin Halpern agreed it would be fun, but said “too bad that’ll never happen.”
Nevertheless, both Disney-owned shows pushed through logistical and scheduling challenges to craft two episodes where the Abbott teachers come face-to-face with the “Always Sunny” gang, with the “Abbott” version of the crossover airing Wednesday on ABC.
“Where there’s a will, there’s a way,” Schumacker told TheWrap.
While a certain subset of TV viewers might watch both the ABC mockumentary and the long-running FX sitcom, the creative teams wanted the crossover episode to feel “rewarding for super fans of both shows [or] of just one,” while also working “in a vacuum,...

The Abbott Elementary and It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia crossover lived up to its hilarious hype, but the ABC mockumentary also added in some Easter eggs for fans of the FX sitcom. The crossover event had Abbott Elementary’s wholesome cast of characters crossing paths with the nefarious "Gang" from It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, characters that are irredeemable and proud. While The Gang was certainly toned down for Abbott Elementary’s TV-pg audience, their criminal behavior was not overlooked entirely.
In fact, the It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia and Abbott Elementary crossover even separated The Gang into “heroes” and villains. While the family of Dennis Reynolds (Glenn Howerton), Deandra “Dee” Reynolds (Kaitlin Olson), and Frank Reynolds (Danny DeVito) all had some sort of antagonism during the episode, Ronald "Mac" McDonald (Rob McElhenney) and Charlie Kelly (Charlie Day) ended up helping the Abbott crew solve their problem— through blackmail, of course.

The two TV shows couldn't be more different, and they air on different networks. So, many were intrigued to see how they could interconnect.

The highly anticipated crossover between ABC's Abbott Elementary and FX's It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is finally here. The two-part special marks a meeting of comedy worlds that couldn’t be more different: Abbott Elementary is a heartwarming workplace sitcom centered on a Philadelphia public school, while It’s Always Sunny season 17 will continue to follow the outrageous antics of a morally bankrupt bar-owning gang, also based in Philly. The crossover stems from a chance encounter between Abbott creator Quinta Brunson and Sunny creator Rob McElhenney at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards, where a joke soon turned into a hilarious reality.

The Abbott Elementary and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia crossover episode is now out in the world, and it's truly a wonderful ride! If you haven't watched Sunny, it's not confusing for Abbott viewers. But if you're like me and enjoy both shows, then this was such a sweet treat. Thankfully much sweeter than Dee. Thankfully, this crossover journey doesn't stop here.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia season 17, which hopefully arrives sometime in the summer this year, will feature a Part 2 of the crossover episode with the Abbott Elementary staff visiting Paddy's Pub. Since we weren't really left on a cliffhanger, there aren't many clues as to what we might see. But we can definitely theorize!

[This story contains spoilers from season four, episode nine of Abbott Elementary]
Abbott Elementary returned Wednesday night with a few more characters than usual as it debuted the first of two highly anticipated It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia crossover episodes.
In the episode, titled “Volunteers,” the crew of South Philly misfits arrives at Abbott Elementary through a new program from the district that allows people in the community to lend a helping hand to the school. Initially, the teachers are grateful when the group arrives and Janine (Quinta Brunson) hits it off with Dee (Kaitlin Olson), while Ava (Janelle James) takes pride in being able to boss around Mac (Rob McElhenney).
Mac is all too eager to do everything she asks so he and his Paddy’s Pub Gang can fulfill their court-ordered community service requirement and leave the west side as quickly as possible. But when Dee unabashedly tries to make a move on Gregory (Tyler James Williams), Frank (Danny DeVito) and Mr.

This week’s “Abbott Elementary” episode is just half of the story. “Volunteers” featured the long-awaited crossover with FX’s long-running “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” as told from the vantage point of the hit ABC sitcom. But you’ll have to wait for the upcoming season of “Sunny” to get the Gang’s take.

This isn’t quite the perfect comp, but people keep comparing it to ‘Rashomon.’ We’re not getting different truths happening, but their episode does take place essentially in the same time frame.”
Schumacker suggests that Hulu should consider pairing both episodes for audiences to view back-to-back once the “Sunny” version (which has also already been filmed) airs sometime this spring. But in the meantime,...

The first episode in the two-part, cross-town collaboration between Abbott Elementary and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia will air on ABC tonight at 8:30 p.m. Et, with the second part telling the cable version of events coming when It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 17 finally arrives.
