- Meremblum studied with Leopold Auer and graduated from the St. Petersburg Conservatory. He came to America and, after a time in New York, arrived in Los Angeles, where he was a professor at the University of Southern California.
In 1936, he founded the Peter Meremblum California Junior Symphony, which was dedicated to the musical education and enrichment of youth ages 8 to 18. Funded by over $1,000 of his own money for the first few years, the orchestra flourished and became a desired place for young musicians to learn new musical skills, improve their technique, and broaden their understanding of classical music. Under his guidance the Meremblum orchestra produced many renowned and respected concert and symphony musicians over the years. Although Mr. Meremblum passed away in 1966, the orchestra existed for over fifty more years: a tribute to the man whose tireless efforts resulted in the betterment of thousands of young people not only in music, but in life as well.- IMDb Mini Biography By: Tom Barrister
