Directed by Bobby Moresco, The movie will follow the three brothers Alfieri, Ettore and Ernesto from the inception of the business in 1914 in a garage in the central Italian city of Bologna. The luxury car brand has been associated with the world of auto racing. Maserati’s first Grand Prix racing car, called “Type 26,” is the vehicle that Alfieri Maserati was driving in the 1927 Messina Cup race when he had a near-fatal crash. Alfieri died a few years later, on March 3, 1932, at the age of 44 from complications related to that accident. In 1937, the brothers, while remaining involved, sold a controlling stake in the company that is now owned by Fiat.

Iervolino and Bacardi were partners in Ilbe, the studio they co-founded and jointly ran for 13 years.

“With the launch of Taic, Iervolino has stepped down as president and CEO of Ilbe, the studio he co-founded and ran for the last decade, to focus on Taic,” Iervolino said in a statement. “He will remain available in a non-exclusive capacity to assist Ilbe with the transition of a new CEO.”

No reason for the falling out between Iervolino and Bacardi was provided in the statement.

Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend is a movie written and directed by Robert Moresco, starring Frank Grillo and Mira Sorvino.

A standard biopic that, true enough, revitalizes an era, but does not give us much more than a glimpse of the 50’s and 60’s Italy.

Frank Grillo does, though, offer us a very good portrayal in a role that fits him like a glove.

Premise

Ferruccio Lamborghini start was in tractor manufacturing. Once World War II started, he turned to the manufacture of military vehicles, which ultimately led him to become the designer of the high end Lamborghini cars. The company took another turn in 1963 dedicating its capacities to the manufacture of sports cars Automobili Lamborghini.

Most of us know the Brand, and now we are offered a chronicle of the history behind high end sports cars. It is interesting, but does not shine on a dramatic and artistic level.

Starring Frank Grillo as the titular engineer and carmaker in middle age, writer-director Bobby Moresco’s admiring portrait is a gauzy, stuffy showroom piece that romanticizes everything from piazzas and vineyards to factory floors and car engines but never gets out of first gear in dramatizing a dreamer’s achievement or — when it came to upsetting the dominance of Ferrari in the auto world — a competitor’s drive.

The Napa Valley Film Festival announced its 2022 Film, Food and Wine Showcase programming and honors, to take place at The Culinary Institute of America at Copia on Nov. 10-13 featuring a curated group of films and honoree tributes that celebrate artistic achievement.

Leading the honorees is Laura Dern, who will be honored with the Legend Award. Additional honorees include rising director Cooper Raiff, actor Stephanie Hsu, actor and musician Janelle Monáe, actor Regina Hall and others. Roughly 48 hours earlier, Oscar-winning filmmaker Paul Haggis, a key collaborator in the planning of Allora Fest, was arrested in Ostuni after a British woman told authorities that Haggis had sexually assaulted her. (The writer-director-producer has previously faced four other accusations of sexual assault in the United States.) Paul Haggis, the Oscar-winning director of Crash, was detained in southern Italy on Sunday (June 19) charged with sexual assault and aggravated personal injury.

According to reports a young non-Italian woman brought charges against the Canadian filmmaker, who was in Ostuni to attend the Allora Fest this week where he was scheduled to present a masterclass. Reports said the alleged incidents took place over two days in Ostuni.

Reports cited Haggis’s lawyer Priya Chaudhry who said the filmmaker was “totally innocent” and was cooperating with authorities.

Frank Grillo said Tuesday he will star as Ferruccio Lamborghini in a biopic about the Italian car maker’s life, replacing Antonio Banderas in the role.

Grillo broke the news on “The Adam Corolla Show” Tuesday, adding that in addition to replacing Banderas in the film, Alec Baldwin, who was meant to play Enzo Ferrari in the movie, is also no longer attached due to scheduling conflicts. Grillo says Banderas dropped out because another project he’s currently filming ran long.

Bobby Moresco, the Oscar-winning screenwriter behind “Crash,” is directing and writing the film titled “Lamborghini,” which was first announced with Banderas and Baldwin set to star as far back as 2017.

Grillo added that he’ll be traveling to Rome on Wednesday to begin filming. But he did not share or was unaware who will be starring alongside him as Ferrari (though Corolla joked that it’d be Jonah Hill).

Aaron Sorkin’s acclaimed and increasingly relevant political drama The Trial of the Chicago 7, which revolves around the raucous trial of a group of protesters accused of disrupting the 1968 Chicago Democratic Convention, took a leading four awards including best picture at the just concluded 25th annual Capri, Hollywood – The International Film Festival. If past winners at this Italian fest are any indication, the victories should give the Netflix film a boost stateside during Oscar season.

Restrictions are rapidly lifting in Italy, where the coronavirus curve is finally flattening after the longest lockdown in Europe. The cable network has set “Colin Quinn: Red State Blue State,” as its first-ever comedy special. Written by and starring the stand-up comedian, the event is an-hour long presentation of Quinn’s Off-Broadway show of the same name that ran in New York earlier this year. “Red State Blue State” tackles “the absurdities, hypocrisies and calamities on both sides of the political divide.”

“We are always looking for new ways to engage our viewers by exploring the issues that are most important to them,” Amy Entelis, CNN Worldwide’s Evp for Talent & Content Development, said. “Colin Quinn’s show is a smart political satire that speaks to what is dividing our country.”

Colin Quinn: Red State Blue State is set to open at Audible’s Minetta Lane Theatre in Manhattan’s West Village on January 5 with an official opening night on January 22. The new comedy written by and starring the titular Quinn will play March 3.
