Mike, a native of Santa Monica, California, grew up at the beach
surfing, skateboarding and doing beach gymnastics by the Santa Monica
pier. By the time Mike was 12 years old, he was not only a top award
winning AAU Jr Olympic Diver, but also a professional dancer in Tap,
Jazz, Ballet, Flamenco, Hindu, all Polynesian styles and, yes, even
figure skating. At the age of 13, he went to work for Disney as Mowgli
in the Christmas Parade and continued to work for Disney for many years
as Mickey Mouse, Pinocchio and many others. Mike also started taking
acting and voice classes and decided that entertainment was absolutely
his life's path.
Having always been into surfing, he was also one of the early (late 1960s and 70s), innovative trend setting skateboarders from Santa Monica/Venice, aka "Dogtown". Quite often, Mike and his buddies (and brothers, Mario and Mark) would surf in the morning and drive up to the local mountains to ski in the afternoon, come home and skateboard all night. This lead to learning many outdoor sports like rock climbing, roller blading, snowboarding, mountain biking, motorcycles, horses and more. This also made him decide to pursue a career in stunt work, which has been a natural and rewarding transition. Mike loves to act, dance and sing and will do so at the drop of a hat.
Mike married his long-time friend, Marisa, in 1983 and has two stepsons, David and Kristopher. Mike has known Marisa since kindergarten and they have always been very close. They have, at the time of this writing, 9 grandchildren -- Liliana, Marisa, Anthony, Kris, Robert, Keoni, Koa, Danilo, Saulo and 4 great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Olivia, Blake and Kayley.
