Michael York dashes onto the cinematic scene as the blundering but very enthusiastic D'Artagnan in Richard Lester's hugely enjoyable period comic romp. The late great Roy Kinnear is the long-suffering vassal of aristocratic swordsmen Oliver Reed, Richard Chamberlain and Frank Finlay, whilst Raquel Welch and Faye Dunaway shine as heroine and villainess, respectively. Producers Alexander and Ilya Salkind filmed the following year's sequel back-to-back with this more successful first part, which approach they would revisit shortly for Superman and Superman II. O'Brien Denied Right To Live In New Zealand
The Rocky Horror Show creator Richard O'Brien has been left fuming after officials in New Zealand foiled his plan to retire there by refusing to grant him residency.
The 68-year-old Brit emigrated to New Zealand with his family when he was 10 years old and spent 12 years in the country before moving to London. O'Brien's siblings still live there, and so did his parents before they passed away four years ago.
The actor/writer had been planning to move back to the country to be closer to his family, but immigration officials have now rejected his visa application - insisting he does not fit the criteria for citizenship or permanent residency.
O'Brien admits he's baffled by the decision, and is planning to appeal to New Zealand's Immigration Minister Jonathan Coleman.
He tells the New Zealand Herald, "I just want to die in New Zealand. It's my home; it always has been and it always will be. (New Zealand) has always given me a great deal of strength and comfort and I have my brother and sister and more family there. It's just home... So we're going to be asking the minister to grant an exception to the policy because he is who he is."...

How would you cast the prime minister's biopic?
Now that Gordon Brown's political career is traversing the final segment of its narrative arc, it can't be long before someone proposes a film (or TV drama, more likely) charting its highs and lows. It may be too soon to write the ending of the prime minister's story, but it's not too early to start thinking about the cast. Who would play whom?
Gordon Brown Brown has been assayed by a surprising number of actors already, including David Morrissey, Peter Mullan and Tony Slattery. But based on the idea that, from an acting point of view, the latter-day Brown is basically Nixon with a Scottish accent, either Frank Langella or Anthony Hopkins would serve. Failing that, Philip Seymour Hoffman – he could probably play anyone.
Sarah Brown As a quiet, dignified, stabilising presence, Sarah Brown really isn't much of a part. Emma Thompson...

Richard O'Brien has said that the reason for the enduring success of The Rocky Horror Show could be that it evokes the biblical story of Adam and Eve. The actor and writer penned the long-running stage show as well as the screenplay for its 1975 movie adaptation and told Digital Spy that he could only speculate as to the reasons for its success. O'Brien said: "The easy answer is that it's just good simple rock 'n' roll fun. That's the simple answer. "My theory is that the first story most of us in the West are familiar with - and have been familiar with for so long - is the story of the Fall; Adam and Eve and the Serpent. It's almost a story in the collective consciousness." He added: "Brad (more)...
