Table tennis and lawn tennis player. Won several lawn tennis
championships, 1931-1936. Considered by many to be England's greatest
tennis player.
For many years he was known as the last British man to win Wimbledon (in 1936). Andrew Murray won in 2013 (after a gap of 77 years) and then again in 2016.
A statue of Perry was unveiled at Wimbledon in 1984.
