The John Wick saga isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Word’s out from ComicBook that ‘John Wick 5’ is officially in development, and I’m already itching to see what’s next for this bullet-riddled world. The franchise has kept us hooked with its slick action and brooding hero, but here’s the catch—nobody knows if Keanu Reeves will step back into John Wick’s blood-stained shoes.

The fifth movie’s green light comes after ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’ smashed it at the box office, pulling in over $440 million. That ending, though—Keanu’s character took a nasty fall, and we last saw Winston and the Bowery King at his grave. It felt final, but Hollywood’s never shy about digging up a good story. Still, Keanu, now 60, might be ready to call it quits after four rounds of relentless fights. Nothing’s confirmed, and that’s what’s got me on edge.

In February 2024, Disney+ announced that Percy Jackson and the Olympians would return for a second season. This season will adapt the second book in the Percy Jackson series, The Sea of Monsters, and is set to release in 2025.

Albert Kim has been brought on as an executive producer for the second season, starting in April 2024. John Wick: Chapter 4, the most recent smash-hit installment in Keanu Reeves’ gloriously brutal action franchise, is making a surprise, late-game run at the theatrical box office — in China.

Keanu Reeves has squared up against some legendary baddies. Rogue AI. Deadly assassins. Samurai warlords. But when asked about his most iconic big-screen foe, he didn’t even blink. “I mean, it’s gotta be Smith, right? Agent Smith. Hugo Weaving.”

No shocker there. Agent Smith would be sipping code-laced martinis in the front row if movie villains had a VIP section. The Matrix franchise’s resident menace didn’t just fight Neo; he haunted him. Cold. Calculated. Rocking those tiny sunglasses like a true cyberpunk tyrant.

Reeves made the revelation during a Q&a with IGN after a John Wick: Chapter 4 screening and the crowd ate it up. Because let’s be real: Agent Smith wasn’t just a villain. He was a virus. A rage-fueled, reality-bending glitch in the system who multiplied like bad WiFi and made Neo’s life an absolute nightmare.

Destiny 2 has had a lot of weapons since its release back in 2017, and while we’ve seen a lot of broken ones over the years, there have also been ones that are quite useless. While players are excited about what the weapon has to offer for its archetype, there’s a bit of a worry. The early details that have been revealed don’t mention if it has a Void subclass synergy perk. Given that every other Rocket Sidearm has elemental-specific perks for better subclass synergy, it’d be very out of place for the Lotus-Eater to not have it.

John Wick's Caine spinoff movie receives a major directing update from Donnie Yen, who is returning to reprise his role as the blind assassin.

In an interview with Collider, Yen revealed that he is not only set to reprise his role, but is also in talks to direct the Caine spinoff himself:

I think both the fans, as well as the studio, want this to happen, and we'll see. I don't know. I can only tell you that much. But yes, we are talking, and we are talking intimately. We'll see what happens. But at the same time, I hold responsibility as well as a pressure that I don't want to ruin the franchise. I try to do my best to bring something fresh to the franchise itself. I don't want to bring down the expectations for the fans. I try to do my best, like always.

A feature film based on the acclaimed Sony PlayStation video game “Horizon Zero Dawn” is in “early stages” of development as a joint project between Columbia Pictures and PlayStation Productions.

Asad Qizilbash, the head of PlayStation Productions, announced the news as part of Sony’s presentation Monday night at CES 2025.

If you’re not a gamer but the project still sounds familiar, it’s because “Horizon Zero Dawn” was previously announced — back in 2022 — as a Netflix series developed by “The Umbrella Academy” showrunner Steve Blackman in partnership with Michelle Lovretta (“Killjoys”). At some point since then however, the show was quietly shelved.

No reason for the shift from TV series to feature film was given during Qizilbash’s announcement, but it’s notable that in June of 2024, Rolling Stone published an exposé in which Blackman was accused of bullying and other toxic behavior by staff members. Blackman has denied all accusations.

The first three movies in the John Wick franchise are preparing to head to a new streaming home. After it debuted in 2014, the franchise has exploded into a genuine media giant. Alongside John Wick's various spin-offs, The Continental, Ballerina, and Under the High Table, the movie has already earned three sequels and a fourth that is set to release in the coming years.

It famously stars Keanu Reeves as the reluctant assassin Wick, while he attempts to butcher the High Table. The intense action scenes, compelling characters, and detailed world-building have contributed to its international acclaim, though it has never managed to win any major awards. While Reeves remains the undisputed star, other characters have earned attention through the spin-offs and more are poised to fill in this original world. The first three movies will join Chapter 4 on Hulu on January 1, 2025.

Speaking to CBS News in a recent interview alongside Sonic the Hedgehog 3 director Jeff Fowler, The Matrix star was asked about the state of his vengeance-driven hitman in the neo-noir film franchise.

“You can never say never, but my knees right now are saying, ‘You can’t do another John Wick,'” the actor, who voices Sonic alter-ego and enemy Shadow in the animated threequel, said. “So my heart does [want to], but I don’t know if my knees can do it.”

For every spectacular hit like The Batman and Joker, there have been movies like The Flash and Joker: Folie à Deux that left audiences frustrated and fed up.

However, the history of DC movies actually goes back decades with early adaptations of Superman and Batman between the 1940s and 1960s. Then DC began to hit its stride with box office hits in the 1980s and 1990s. However, that isn't to say every new movie was a hit. In 2013, there were two high-profile Hollywood movies about terrorists invading the White House, and the brave Secret Service agents who stepped forward to protect a beleaguered President. On June 28, Roland Emmerich's excellent "White House Down" was released in theaters, and it starred Channing Tatum as the beleaguered agent, and Jamie Foxx as the president. The bad guy terrorist was played by Jason Clarke. "White House Down" also starred Maggie Gyllenhaal, Joey King, and Richard Jenkins. It was, for my money, one of the best films of 2013.

DeWitt’s C.C. is a stylish and composed New Age guru-type whom Percy (Walker Scobell) and Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries) encounter in their quest to find the Golden Fleece. She radiates warmth and empathy, but readers of The Sea of Monsters — the book on which season two is based — know there’s more to her than that.

Polyphemus is an ancient cyclops who was blinded by Odysseus long ago. He now tends animals and jealously guards the Golden Fleece on his private island.

Deadline reports that Apple TV+ has scooped up the rights to Bananas, a drama series from David O. Russell set to star Oscar Isaac and Ana de Armas. The project was the subject of a heated bidding war, but Apple took home the prize.

Russell is attached to direct the series from a script by Carolina Paiz (Narcos). Unfortunately, the plot is being kept under wraps, so that’s all we know about it. Russell will also executive produce alongside Isaac, de Armas, and Paiz.

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) on Thursday revealed the nominations for the third annual Children’s and Family Emmy Awards, which will take place in Los Angeles on March 15.

According to NATAS, the “standalone competition spotlights the pinnacle of creativity and innovation in children’s entertainment.”

Additionally, two winners and an honorable mention in the juried category, Pubic Service Initiative, were announced on Thursday. Winners in the juried individual achievement in animation categories will be announced early next year, as will the lifetime achievement nominee and ceremony host.

The 2025 Children’s and Family Emmy Awards announced its nominations on Thursday. This is the third year since these categories were separated from the Daytime Emmys in an extensive restructuring of the television academies’ TV awards. The Children’s & Family Emmys are on the move. As the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences on Thursday revealed the nominations for the 3rd annual event, it also announced that the ceremonies would take place on March 15 in Los Angeles. (The competition’s first two years were held in December.)

As for the nominations themselves, leading the charge was Disney+’s “Percy Jackson and the Olympians,” with 16 nods — including for young teen series, where it faces off with Disney+’s “Goosebumps,” Netflix’s “Heartstopper,” Netflix’s “One Piece” and Roku Channel’s “The Spiderwick Chronicles.”

“Percy Jackson” also received nods for several performers, including a posthumous nod for Lance Reddick. Other programs performing well include HBO/Max’s “Sesame Street” (13 noms), “Spiderwick Chronicles” (13 noms), Netflix’s “StoryBots: Answer Time” (10 noms), Apple TV+’s “Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock” (10 noms), “One Piece” (9 noms) and “Goosebumps” (9 noms).

Frame it anyway you want, but From The World Of John Wick: Ballerina has a bit of a PR job on its hands. It’s got to convince potential audiences that a visit to the cinema will guarantee them the same level of high-quality action and thrills that they’d get from a mainline John Wick movie, and it’s been bumpy up to this point.

Far be it from me to talk down a movie’s chances before it arrives, but the public perception of reshoots often leads to the assumption that a film’s in trouble. The extensive reshooting of Ballerina means that chatter around the film is already focusing on whether it’s doomed or not.

Lionsgate is bringing light in darkness, unveiling a character poster for Ana de Armas’ Eve Macarro, the titular ballerina of the upcoming John Wick spin-off movie, adding to the already peak anticipation for this expansion. Following their Ccxp presentation Sunday, Lionsgate also released a new extended look featurette examining the film.

As you can see on the poster, Eve is tatted up, with one notable phrase standing out above the rest: Lux in Tenebris, which is Latin for Light in Darkness. That might feel a little on the nose, but it does give us a better glimpse into her psyche – especially when she’s got a gun in her hand. The poster has incredible coloring to it, too, which plays off of the trailer quite nicely. Check it out:

Ana De Armas is finally stepping into the John Wick universe with the next installment in the massive action franchise previously led by Keanu Reeves.

Ahead of the spin-off’s June 6, 2025 premiere, Lionsgate unveiled a new featurette for From the World of John Wick: Ballerina during a Comic-Con Brazil panel, which was livestreamed on YouTube on Sunday.

The featurette was introduced by Reeves and John Wick director Chad Stahelski in a pre-recorded message. “Today is a big day,” said the latter. “Keanu and I are thrilled to welcome Ana, Norman [Reedus] and [director Len Wiseman] into the world of John Wick. And we couldn’t be happier that the amazing Ian McShane could be there with you in person.”

Reeves added, “So, remember all the amazing crazy stuff going on in Chapter 3? Well, it turns out there was a lot of stuff you didn’t see.”

The upcoming film, from the world of John Wick, takes place during the events of the franchise’s third movie. The film follows Eve Macarro (de Armas) who is beginning her training in the assassin traditions of the Ruska Roma.

Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, Lance Reddick, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Norman Reedus, and Ian McShane also star in the movie, along with an appearance from Keanu Reeves as John Wick.
