Sports movies have unique coaches that inspire and entertain viewers beyond just wins and losses. Iconic coaches like Mr. Miyagi and Mickey Goldmill leave a lasting impact on the genre. Characters like Herb Brooks and Ken Carter tell powerful stories of unity and determination in the face of adversity.
The Paris 2024 Olympics may be over, but that doesn't mean that viewers can't get their sporting kicks elsewhere. Sports movies are one of the most unique genres out there, with their unique ability to inspire their viewers while also providing solid entertainment. However, a good sports movie is only as good as the coach within it. These coaches stand apart from more traditional movie mentors by not only being measured by their wins and losses, but by how they foster relationships with their students.

This week, the final season of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series premiered on Disney+.
Unfortunately, Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens didn't join their co-stars from the original movies to make a cameo on the spinoff.
But that doesn't mean we didn't get any indication about where Troy and Gabriella's relationship is in 2023.
Corbin Bleu, Monique Coleman, Lucas Grabeel, Bart Johnson, Alyson Reed, and Kaycee Stroh returned to play themselves.
The group also resurrected their High School Musical roles as Chad Danforth, Taylor McKessie, Ryan Evans, Coach Jack Bolton, Ms. Darbus, and Martha Cox, respectively.
The returning faces popped up at East High to shoot High School Musical 4.
There were hopes that Efron and Hudgens would make surprise appearances for at least one scene, but it didn't happen.
The closest we got to Troy and Gabriella was a sad update about their relationship, courtesy of Corben.

Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens may not have made cameos in the final season of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, but the Disney+ mockumentary still gave us an update about their characters’ relationship status — whether we wanted to hear it or not.

Spoiler Alert: This story contains spoilers for the fourth and final season of “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,” now streaming on Disney+.
The Wildcats of “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” have taken their final bow.
The Disney+ extension of the popular movie musical trilogy concluded this week with an eight-episode fourth season that found its cast performing a stage — or rather, basketball court — production of 2008’s “High School Musical 3: Senior Year.” Members of that film’s original cast returned to East High to shoot the fictional “High School Musical 4: The Reunion.”
Although the original films have had a presence since the pilot episode — the series is set at the high school where the films were shot — the final season is the show’s most meta endeavor yet.

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series teases a fictional High School Musical 4 within the show, but fans hope for a real sequel with Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens. High School Musical 4 would be a major hit for Disney based on the success and popularity of the franchise, with previous movies grossing millions and topping music charts. Bringing back Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens for High School Musical 4 may be challenging due to their busy filming schedules, but fans remain hopeful for a reunion.
With High School Musical: The Musical: The Series filming a fictional High School Musical 4, fans hope to see a full-length sequel involving Zac Efron's Troy. Since the release of the first film, the High School Musical franchise has been one of the most successful and beloved movie series in Disney Channel history, so much so that they created a TV series inspired by the hit movies.

High School Musical premiered on Disney Channel in 2006 and was an instant success. The Disney Channel Original Movie spawned two sequels, one direct-to-video spinoff film, and one adaptation television series made for Disney+. Given the franchise's success, many fans have been pleading for a fourth film featuring the original cast — Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu, Lucas Grabeel, and Monique Coleman. Unfortunately, in the years since High School Musical 3: Senior Year, there has been little to no talk about making another movie — until now.

Don’t be fooled by the (extremely long) title, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is more than just a cheesy remake designed to tug at the heartstrings of Disney nostalgics. The mockumentary style show has enough lovable characters, catchy songs, and drama, both on-screen and off, to claim its own spot as a beloved program.
The show follows the current students of East High, the school where the original High School Musical films were shot, as they navigate friendships, romances, and opening nights. It begins with a new drama teacher being appalled at the fact that the school had never put on a production of HSM and deciding that this needed to change. Joshua Bassett as Ricky takes this as the perfect opportunity to win back his theater-loving ex-girlfriend, Olivia Rodrigo as Nini. The two end up getting cast as Troy and Gabriella from the original movies and,...

Original High School Musical cast members Vanessa Hudgens, Corbin Bleu, Lucas Grabeel, and Bart Johnson reunite in sweet new images. As one of Disney Channel's most successful original movies, High School Musical is beloved for its catchy songs and standout cast. Released in 2006, the film, which also stars Zac Efron and Ashley Tisdale, served as the breakout appearance for the majority of its cast and went on to spawn two sequels, before the franchise was revived more recently with the release of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.

High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens discusses whether she'll be returning to the franchise. Ever since the beginning of High School: The Musical: The Series, with its meta premise of existing in a world where the High School Movies actually exist as works of fiction, fans have been especially eager to see Hudgens and Zac Efron make an appearance in the Disney+ series as they played the respective lead characters of Gabriella Montez and Troy Bolton in the films.
Over the summer, there were a few indications that the two actors could return to the High School Musical franchise. The first came when Hudgens shared a photo of herself visiting East High, where the movies were set, followed by Efron weeks later. "We're all in this together" isn't just the catchiest earworm to ever come out of a Disney Channel Original Movie, it's also a way of life. As was announced today, some of the original cast members of "High School Musical," the 2006 Disney Channel Original movie that spawned a franchise, will be appearing on the next season of "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series," which is an actual show and the reason pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo had a reason to write an album of heartbreak bangers. Og cast members Corbin Bleu, Kaycee Stroh, and Lucas Grabeel have all already appeared in previous seasons of "HSM:tm:ts," but the trio will be joined by Monique Coleman, Alyson Reed, and Bart Johnson.
According to Disney, the appearances are part of a major season 4 storyline, where Disney (the real company but in the HSM universe) has decided to make "High School Musical 4: The Reunion,...

The original Wildcats are heading back to East High. That's right, several original cast members from the High School Musical film franchise are joining the ranks of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series for season four, Disney+ announced Sept. 23. So, which Wildcats will be joining the fray? For starters, we see the return of Corbin Bleu, who appeared in season three as a more "jaded" version of himself. But he'll be joined by on-screen love (and real-life Bff) Monique Coleman in addition to Lucas Grabeel, Bart Johnson, Alyson Reed and Kaycee Stroh. Could this be the reason some of the Og stars have been...

You may not have seen A Chorus Line but most everyone knows the song “One” thanks to its endless use in other productions (think Treehouse of Horror V, Phineas and Ferb, Scrubs) throughout the years. Since the play debuted Off-Broadway in 1975, it has gone on to become one of the best known musicals of the latter 20th Century. One reason it endured a run of 6137 performances on Broadway was its emotional honesty, bare bones set, and soul-bearing songs. As conceived by Michael Bennett, it was brought to life by Marvin Hamlisch (music), Edward Kleban (lyrics), and James Kirkwood Jr. (book) at a time when everyone was doing a little soul searching.
By the time the 1985 film adaptation from director Sir Richard Attenborough arrived, it was heralded as a return of the musical to the movies. Unfortunately, the so-so movie failed to ignite that revival and was mostly rejected by those who adored the film.

“What made you start dancing?”
Director Richard Attenborough took on a great challenge in his 1985 adaptation of the hit Broadway musical A Chorus Line, now having its day on Blu-Ray from 20th Century Fox. While this adaptation of the film certainly has its problems, there is still a great deal to recommend with it.
The central question of A Chorus Line leads its cast into personal and professional revelations about show business, about life in New York, and about both the simplest and most complex problems of surviving on your own terms. The film begins with the selection of sixteen dancers – eight men and eight women – to be whittled down to a final eight that will join a major Broadway production as the chorus line. We’re introduced to our main characters in an extended opening sequence as each dancer mentally prays to be one of the chosen few. The...
