Sondra Rodgers(1903-1997)

Sondra Rodgers was born in Trimble County, Kentucky in 1903. Raised on
a farm outside the little town of Milton, Sondra had her heart set on
the film world. She was 41 years old when she appeared in her first
film, LOST IN A HAREM, in 1944. Recognized as an able character
performer, Sondra appeared the following year as Helen Roberts in THE
HIDDEN EYE and ANCHORS AWEIGH. The latter was with Frank Sinatra and
Gene Kelly. After appearing with Lucille Ball in EASY TO WED in 1946
and TAP ROOTS in 1947 with Van Heflin and Susan Hayward, Sondra didn't
appear in any more films until 1951's AS YOU WERE. While character
appearances on the silver screen became rare, Sondra kept busy with TV
series such as "Wagon Train", "The Twilight Zone", and "The Beverly
Hillbillies". Sondra did make it back to the big screen as Dora in
TAMMY AND THE DOCTOR in 1963 with Sandra Dee and Peter Fonda. Her final
role was an uncredited part in 1975's AIRPLANE. On July 22, 1997 Sondra
died of heart failure in Los Angeles, California. She was 94.
