The last "Star Trek" feature film released in theaters was "Star Trek Beyond" back in 2016. The movie was directed by Justin Lin, the filmmaker behind "Better Luck Tomorrow" and several of the "Fast and Furious" movies, and it was co-written by Simon Pegg, who also played Scotty in the film. The action was clear and the character work was solid -- the entire cast brought their A-games -- but the film overall was generic action nonsense; it was the fourth "Star Trek" film in a row about a twisted villain on a mission of revenge. Sadly, "Beyond" wasn't as big a hit as Paramount wanted, and it seemed to be the end of the road for "Star Trek" in theaters.

In the Season 3 episode "The Mines of Mandalore," Din Djarin and Bo-Katan Kryze make a journey to the underworld of Mandalore. For Din, this is a redemption arc and a ritual returning since he grew up on Mandalore's moon, Concordia. He is journeying to the heart of his society while also witnessing the horrific devastation of Mandalore itself. There is so much that is destroyed and desecrated that compassion passes between the two warriors who have often been at odds with each other.

Ronald D. Moore, a writer for both the Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica franchises, often repeats motifs from his previous work. He is frequently credited as one of the best writers entrusted with Star Trek's formidable universe. A great example of this is "The Defector," which was only Moore's second script for The Next Generation and solidified his place on the writing staff for the show. It is also a decided example of a time when Battlestar Galactica and Star Trek copied each other back and forth over the years.

Some people are just defined by the genre they perform in. Scott Bakula and William Shatner fit that description to a "T." They're synonymous with the world of sci-fi, and they're not the only ones. Famous names like Sigourney Weaver, Mark Hamil, and others have the careers they do, in part, due to their appreciation for sci-fi.

Another name that belongs with the Bakula's of the world is that of Katee Sackhoff. Most known recently for Star Wars, where she played Bo-Katan Kryze, she rose to fame with her involvement with the 2004 remake of Battlestar Galactica.

She played a gender-swapped version of Starbuck, now known as Kara Thrace (previously just Starbuck). She added depth, intrigue and uniquness to the role that the original character lacked. Being a byproduct of the 1970s, all the original Starbuck did was smoke, womanize and fight Cylons. Thanks to Sackhoff, the new Starbuck was a much deeper character.

Katee Sackhoff wants to join Star Trek, and she should to complete her perfect sci-fi hat trick. Sackhoff became a sci-fi icon when she was cast as Kara "Starbuck" Thrace in Sci-Fi Channel's 2003 reboot of Battlestar Galactica, which was created by legendary Star Trek writer Ronald D. Moore. In 2012, Katee jumped the galaxy far, far away when she voiced Bo-Katan Kryze in Star Wars: The Clone Wars before embodying Bo-Katan in live-action in The Mandalorian season 2. Incredibly, Sackhoff has not been in Star Trek... yet.

Since Star Trek's rebirth on Paramount+, the various Star Trek series have scored multiple casting coups, starting with Jason Isaacs and Academy Award-winner Michelle Yeoh headlining Star Trek: Discovery season 1. Michelle Hurd and Allison Pill joined the cast of Star Trek: Picard while Jack Quaid became one of the leads of Star Trek: Lower Decks, and even played Ensign Brad Boimler in live-action on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

The first conversation Paul Sun-Hyung Lee had with The Mandalorian showrunners Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni did not divulge much information except for a significant detail about his character's home planet.

Lee, who plays New Republic's Captain Carson Teva in the Mandoverse, recently spoke about his character's backstory to fellow Star Wars actor Katee Sackhoff (Bo-Katan Kryze) on The Sackhoff Show. During the conversation, Lee revisited his initial phone call with Favreau and Filoni. "[They] didn't give me a lot of details," Lee said. "They just basically said, 'He's from Alderaan, he's like a...' Jon said 'He's like a New York City cop.'"

Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, the actor who portrays the New Republic's Captain Carson Teva in The Mandalorian and other "Mandoverse" titles, has revealed a surprising yet vitally important connection between his ranger character and Princess Leia Organa herself. Carson Teva was first introduced in The Mandalorian season 2, episode 2 "Chapter 10: The Passenger" as one of the two X-wing pilots who chased and then saved Din Djarin, Grogu, and Frog Lady. Carson has since become one of the few "Mandoverse" characters to appear in all three of the subfranchise's TV shows to date. His importance, however, is only just growing.

Lee spoke more about his character's backstory to fellow The Mandalorian star and Bo-Katan Kryze actress Katee Sackhoff on her podcast The Sackhoff Show, where he revealed the details of his initial phone call with The Mandalorian executive producers Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni. "[Favreau and Filoni] didn't give me a lot of details," Lee told Sackhoff.

During the “From Clone Troopers to Bounty Hunters” panel at August’s Fan Expo Chicago, actor Temuera Morrison seemed to confirm that we won’t be seeing Boba Fett back in action for the film and the reason is quite simple it seems: the failed show seems to have been quite detrimental to character’s future.

“I'm still waiting for a phone call to be quite honest. I think we're just put on the shelf for a little bit. Maybe we come off the shelf later,” Morrison revealed when asked about the film via Screenrant.
